Im a local. I was craving a really good ice cream cone. Normally, I would drive to the shop at Ponce Lighthouse, but it was a rainy day and I didnt want to go that far. I went on the internet and saw the reviews of Neighbors. It was only a 7 minute drive. Score! Its tucked away in the Spruce Creek area, so I didnt know this treasure existed. The single scoop Georgia peach cone was huge, and I loved every bite. It was hard to choose a flavor. They all sounded delicious. I make most of my food from scratch, so I really appreciated having ice cream made the old fashion way. I had planned to share a little bit with my dog on the drive home, but I got greedy and gobbled it all up. The prices were reasonable, service fast and friendly, and the shop was very clean. This will be my new go to place when I need another ice cream fix.
Great hot fudge. I ordered the almond joy ice cream with hot fudge topping. Staff was friendly even though they were super busy. She REALLY packed the one scoop into the bowl. Way more than one scoop. I wish the ice cream had more flavor. Could only taste the hot fudge. Ice cream just tasted cold.One of our favorite places. Well be back and probably just order a different flavor.
Wonderful home made ice cream with some unusual flavors as well. The old general store atmosphere combined with all of the cute items for purchase make this business a true gem.
Hidden local gem and such a fun, inviting atmosphere. The store has lots of convenience and novelty items. The ice cream is homemade and easily the best in town. Great place to take your family and especially kids for a treat. This is a must-visit spot in Port Orange!
The service was awful. We got in before the rush and they still took awhile. My friends and I decided to bring our children here, and they were excited about the old school feel and ice cream. After they ate, we went in to use the restroom and get some cheesecake to go, but a man working gave my kids dirty looks. I am sorry they were sugared up from ice cream, but I can take care of my children. And I know that all moms say that but they didn’t do anything but laugh. Once they told me, I did not spend any more money there and we left. I do not recommend taking children here.
I’m not a ice cream person but I took my daughter - I got one scoop and it’s well worth the money! Service was great. I highly recommend!
The quality of their homemade ice cream has never disappointed! Even still. But I say bring back the retail shop...home of the one desk US post office, the areas most exclusively hidden Lotto retailer lol, the one of a kind gifts and novelty items from the likes of companies such as Blue Q, Pura Vida, local authors and more... The fan favorite crane game (some of you may know it as the claaaaaaw)...And lastly but definitely not least (as it is this girls personal favorite) the nostalgic walk down everyones childhood memory lane... straight to those shelves looking like something straight out of an old fashioned candy shop!! Pretty please? 😉

The yumminess of the ice cream and the fantastic location for us (A lovely 1.5 mile walk or bike ride on nice Port Orange streets!) doesnt need to be addressed again! But what I absolutely love about Neighbors is their CPU (Contract Postal Unit) -- or in other words, their post office in the back corner of their store. Now, I find that the big Port Orange Post Office provides wonderful service...but it is always busy! I find that at the Neighbors location, the longest wait I have had has been 1 customer in front of me. Not that they dont do a good post office business there, but it just seems to be -- for now -- a hidden treasure! Not only is it convenient, but Russ and especially Kathy, have gone out of their way to be supportive. We just started an online business and I drop packages off each day now. Kathy made some very helpful suggestions early on as to how we could reduce our mailing costs. What good neighbors! (Pun intended!)The only negatives (That I can certainly work around since there are so many positives!) is that if you are an early bird, you do have to wait until they open at 11:00 to get your stuff mailed out and you do need to get your mail to them before 3:00 pm each day to make the pick-up time for that day.
Finally! A real ice cream spot. Neighbors is quaint and cozy. Definitely perfect for families and friends with a sweet tooth. I have gone twice in the past two weeks. The first visit I wasnt thrilled with the service. It was underwhelming. But once I had a taste of the ice cream, we definitely were going to come back. Our first visit was off peak on an early Friday evening...around 5pm. Second visit was Saturday around 730p and was busier but the girl behind the counter was so patient with my indecisiveness. She suggested flavors and I ended up trying the sweet potato. Amazing!!!! Waffle cone was super fresh, tables and parlor area clean while the general store had coolest sodas and candies..you want to browse for a bit. Its the kind of spot you want to be a regular at. I have not tried breakfast or lunch, but due to seemingly local popularity I would definitely pop up off peak times. I now call the sweet potato ice cream Mamas candied yams because I swear it taste just like the Thanksgiving dish. Homemade marshmellows l!!👍🏽😍👏🏾
Not Impressed:We visited with out young children and I found the shop trying hard to be nostalgic selling countless varieties of soda and ice cream, instead of providing great service and an affordable good product. My family got ice cream, and I was just looking for something to eat, but they didnt have food out, or an easily available menu. It was not intuitive, in fact quite confusing.
As it was my first time here being a tourist. It was very busy but the service was quick. They do have a variety of flavors for more fruit lovers and for more of a caramel or chocolate lovers. I had got the sea salt fudge and salted caramel crunch which was quite good. They are allowing samples & I think it’s great that they use non plastic sample spoons. The scoops are actually quite big compared to other places but I feel it’s more bang for your buck. In comparison, I had got 2 scoops and it was the size as like 4 scoops from Brusters so I wasn’t upset about that lol. The atmosphere is similar to like a mom’s and pop’s shop but like a cute diner. It really does give the impression of its name and the customer service is really nice. The sanitariness is subpar. I would definitely go back again.

Such a cute shop, I wish I would have taken picturesto post. I found out about Neighbors Ice Cream Parlor from Milles Restaurant. We have the vanilla ice cream for dessert & drove 20 mins out of our way to pick up a couple of pints. We picked up the Beets by Michelle as well as the Coconut Almond Joy. Yum!!! I will definitely go there when Im back in the area!

Had the worst experience today (25 May 18). A male worker told my friend and I, he would be right with us, he left and never came back. My friend and I were waiting for 15 minutes for someone to help us. No other workers came to our rescue, even when I tried to get someones attention. I understand the food business but all the other workers started helping the big group of people that came after us. I definitely felt discriminated. I have no want to go there anymore. This experience was horrible. I hope everyone elses experiences are better, but I wish I could rate this place 0 stars (just because of that). (Is that rude, probably. Do I care? Yes, because I really wanted their ice cream but I didnt want to wait til they gave a care to give us their service). Thank you for reading. It wasnt the happiest of reviews.
The service here the past few weeks has been really slow and poor. No supervisor around to assist. Its a shame because the ice cream is very good and service used to be terrific.
Came here for lunch. Order the club sanwhich. Tasted great and the pickles are sooo good!! There is a nice park across the street which makes this awesome spot if you have kids!! Definitely worth the stop!!

Recently, my family and I had to take a trip back to Florida (a 30+ hour drive), just for this ice cream! It is so good! It has been at the top of our list of best homemade ice cream for more than 3 years now, since we first tried it. The ice cream is the perfect amount of smoothness, tastes absolutely amazing, there are tons of flavors, and its all 100% homemade. The food is also great and its nice that there is a general store too!
I just love this little shop. This is true southern hospitality and real Florida charm. The atmosphere is so down-to-earth the food is delicious and everything homemade and the ice cream, well you dare not leave without trying some of their sweet treats. If youre a snowbird or a tourist you wont know Florida until you visit neighbors General Store and Ice cream parlor. I promise you will not be disappointed.

Wonderful country-type store in suburban Port Orange. THE BEST homemade ice cream and fun old things to look at and buy - 5 & dime candy, old time sodas, collectibles and more. My family & I walked there every morning for a paper and coffee. Russ is a very welcoming person, we got to know him a little in the month we were in Florida. Weve told several friends who winter in Port Orange about this place!

Excellent place. If you can imagine a Dairy Queen with a window where you can order from outside, and a convenience store inside... Yes, that is a summary.Having been a customer since the espresso bar opened, this place is awesome. You need something done at a typical convenience store with post office facilities? Stop by, they will fit you in the best they can.My favorite ice cream flavor is the Georgia Peach. Not in yet. It seems everyone is asking about that flavor too. Well, they have the peaches, but the peaches are not ripe enough yet for them to make the ice cream!(Edit 1: Getting here early is best. This is an insider tip, as a regular and loyal customer who has been there almost weekly for a while and showed up before it opens. The hours changed a bit but I always made it a point to show up a bit early.)
Great ice cream and smoothies, quaint little store. Only suggestion I would make is that service would go a lot faster if the other four employees that were in the back room would be out front helping the one girl that was working behind the ice cream counter. We were there for almost an hour and didnt know that there was more than one person working until the door off of the dining area opened in for employees walked out. I will give the little girl behind the ice-cream counter credit she was busting but trying to get everybody orders as fast as she could

This is probably the best old fashion general store Ive been too. We loved it! We went for icecream & ended up w/ that, merchandise, retro candy, & stayed for lunch! They also offer Postal service. Everyone was friendly & helpful. The service & atmosphere were great. Well definitely be back. Seems like the perfect pitstop for tourists too.

This place is AWESOME! I dont go here for the ice cream or food but rather their amazing selection of root beer. The make your own 4-pack is amazing and I will drive 130 miles one way just to buy the root beer that I cannot get around me. The store is very quaint and features different goodies that I havent seen since I was a kid. I love this place and it is definitely one of the top destination stops for me when I am traveling.
Ive only eaten here 2 times and both of those times I only had the pleasure of ordering ice cream. And it was very very good creamy ice cream . I have not had a chance to try the food yet ... But the pizza looked pretty good . I really enjoyed the old time vintage ice cream parlor feel of this establishment it brings me back to the days when life was simple in a good way. I grew up in the late 50s in New York and every few blocks there was a sweet shop or ice cream parlor that was like yours. The location is really unique in the sense its not in a strip mall or next to a gas station. Back in the day while attending high school I worked in an ice cream parlor / luncheonet. And it had a soda fountain. My best memories came back to me when I stopped into your wonderful sweet shop. And I thank you for those memories. Great place. .

We walked to neighbors with our two small children from the park across the street-- what a great place this is! The food was fast and tasty-- good service-- great selection of bottled sodas, homemade ice cream, candy, & more. Loved this place, we will definitely be back and recommend to everyone!
First time here after my friend recommended it. We started out walking around the general store and looking at all the candy. Some candy I’ve never seen before and some from my childhood that I haven’t seen in years. They have cute gifts and novelty items, as well. I look forward to try a bottle of root beer that an employee recommended. Then, we went to the ice cream parlor. There are many flavors of ice cream to choose from! I narrowed it down to Butterfinger and it was amazing! They have HUGE scoops! I can’t wait to come back and try more flavors!
Neighbors name says it all! Right in the middle of a ton of great Port Orange neighborhoods, it sells a bit of everything one may quickly need! If looking to eat, awesome home cooked food! Desserts: Hawaiian Ice, hand dipped cones, sundaes, even ice cream cakes! The best service and taste in town!

Great place! I live within walking distance so its awesome that on the way home from the dog park the kids and the pup can get some delicious homemade ice cream and with the big selection of snacks drinks and goodies people of all ages can relive their childhood or start new traditions. No other place like it.

Frustrating experience and similar to others in previous posts. Ive enjoyed this place for years but the service has declined. It is agitating when several other customers walk right in front of you in line. I know the staff has no bearing on this nor did I expect it. What actually made me mad was when the employees walked to the very end of the line and started working forward. We were stuck in the middle, or now end of the line. I know this sounds petty and I was reluctant to write a poor review but what made me do so was the on duty management. When this was politely brought to her attention she instantly wrote it off stating this is just normal and that staff often works from the most convenient customers in the back. Apparently the squeaky wheel gets the grease. My wheels will be driving elsewhere.
We live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years but the time it takes to get your food has gotten out of hand. It took 15 minutes for the girl to even go and get the bagels and it wasn’t even busy. Then she just left them sitting behind the counter. 35 minutes to get one peach tea. And a total of 40 minutes to complete the subs. I have never seen a more inefficient operation.
My family and I have been frequenting Neighbors General Store for a few years now.We have always had a good experience. My son and his friends like to ride bikes to hang out there every once in a while. Today my son had just walked in to the store and was confronted by the manager/owner who told him, “If you’re not going to buy anything you need to leave.” My son and his friend collectively spent $40 there even after this event, but I am very aggravated to hear this. I have also been told about similar incidences involving the manager. From now on we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the find. Best ice cream in the area, by far. Hard to find home-made ice cream facilities anymore. Shaved ice, and other things.Home-made waffle cones, and if you want it later, they also sell pints.Also, a old-fashioned looking convenience store, including subs, sodas in glass, and other things you might find at a tourist convenience store.-- Hours change occassionally (Summer, Back to school...)

This place has the General Store look and the General manager Russ always says good morning, I think this place needs to work some common courtesy with one of its relatives who is very moody most of the time., Coffee is not cheap in the morning .. But saying Good Morning and Getting no response back from the dark haired angel can cost the family, bring them back feel ..Other than my small incident. We love this store! Delicious homemade ice cream, wonderful sandwiches. If thats not enough they make cold brew coffee. I make my own at home, but never seen it available anywhere else. Neighbors rocks!

I just want to say that i ate there for the first time today, so so so good! The staff was super super nice! I ordered the chicken salad on a croissant for myself and the chicken ceaser salad for a friend. And to top it off a scoop of strawberry ice cream.., wow wow wow is all i can say. Such a friendly place, you can order from a window outside to take out or eat at their picnic tables, or you can go inside to eat (its kind of like a Cracker Barrel inside with all kimds of candy and fun i interesting little trinkets. This will DEFINITELY be my new summer spot for homemade ice cream and the best comfort summer food! This place is A+++Ps: right across the street is a dog park and a playground for childern, also a softball field! Beautiful beautiful area absolutely PERFECT🙂

Neighbors is awesome. We take our kids there about once a week for ice cream. The banana ice cream is the best Ive ever had. Staff is very friendly and remembers us. Would definitely recommend checking this place out.
I use to come here with my dad when I was younger, when they first opened. I just went back in the other day and it brought back memories. This place is still clean, the people that work there are nice and the icecream is still awesome.

Ive been in florida for 14 years of my life, born and raised since 2004, and Neighbors is one of the best places to go in the neighborhood, all ages are friendly from infants to the elderly, id love to see this place keep running until the day i die.

Very nice ice cream. We loved our flavors ...Purlpe Cow and Pistachio were delish... yum! The place was very friendly, the neighborhood as well. The girl that took our order was very kind and helpful. They even have puppy treats, so cute...so bring your furry friends too!!! Planning to come back soon!
My mother and I came to Daytona Beach, FL for a short vacation. We brought our Pomeranian with us. While looking online for pet-friendly restaurants, we came across a Yahoo post by someone saying that Neighbors is across the street from a dog park. Neighbors is a little over 10 miles from our hotel, and not near the water - that doesnt matter....get in the car and drive there now! If you are ANYWHERE near here, go there immediately! The ice cream was out of this world! In fact, we went back twice in our short trip. Mom had vanilla the first time, and butter pecan the second time. I had a new flavor called Half Baked that was so good I had it twice!!! When I went back in the second day, I told them that mom didnt want to share her ice cream with our Pomeranian again. So, the man at the counter made Angel her own little doggie cone with a Milk Bone cookie. Talk about SERVICE!!! We will be back every time we are in town!

Neighbors is THE BEST! The ice cream is all homemade and every single flavor is amazing. Our favorites are the nutella oreo, cookie dough, key lime pie & car bomb. They also have some great dairy free options like sorbet, almond milk ice cream and hawaiian ice. They also have a coffee bar, a small general store, a post office, some really cute nick-knacks & gifts, specialty sodas and local honey. We are there often, and always bring our out-of-town friends in when they visit!
