Dolphin is a great community bookshop where you can get a wide selection of books and gifts for kids and adults. They offer free wrapping and are always friendly. They also host community events and are a child-friendly place to pass the time. I recommend it!

Cute shop with friendly staff. Unfortunately, their science fiction and fantasy selections is too small for my book buying habits.

What a lovely book store in Port Washington. There a lot of serious books mixed with fun one and toys and board games for kids. Highly recommend it. They do events and author readings, too.

Welcoming space with a variety of interesting books trinkets and toys for babies through adults. The staff is friendly and helpful. The cafe serves tasty food and drink especially the iced tea and you can sit for hours pouring over books.

Great Place to sit, sip and shop. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. They have an amazing kids section, and the cafe is the only place in town to get a really good coffee. Dolphin always has a unique gift ideas as well the current best sellers to the eclectic book you have been looking for.

I love this bookstore. The cafe has delicious coffee, too. The ambiance of the whole store, especially the cafe, is delightful. The town needs more shops like Dolphin. Buy local, friends.

Great little bookshop and cafe. Coffee is DELICIOUS. I will continue to support this gem in Port Washington even though we no longer live in Port. Staff is always helpful and have been great on recommending a good read. If they do not carry something you are looking for, they will get it for you. Love it!!

Absolutely the best bookstore, ever!! The staff is super helpful and pleasant. If they dont have the book you are looking for they will order for you and they have great gifts. Attached to them is a coffee shop that sells Stumptown coffee and goodies.You will be supporting a quality local small business. Please go!!!

I came in there to buy a cup of coffee & also purchade a nice toy gifts for my sons. Why because the staff were very friendly & helpful!!! Nice cozy place to get away from everything. Plus the waterfront is down the block.

Great little independent bookstore, very warm, accommodating, staff. Selection is a bit limited, but care is taken to properly display the books that they do have, and they are more than willing to place an order for you (although you would probably be better off just using Amazon.) Their main selling point is the cafe in the back which hosts weekly music sessions on Friday nights, as well as student-run events during the year.

Just love browsing here. I always end up buying something. Always start off my visit by eating at their cafe. Great selection of vegan n vegetarian sandwiches, gluten free desserts and wonderful selection of teas.

Great bookshop who also sell toys and gifts. They regularly have book readings and special events. Their recent Harry Potter book release party was great fun for the whole family.

You can always find a fun, quirky gift in any section (adults/kids). They have current sellers and different items (scarves, ties, gourmet baking boxes, magnets, puzzles) to browse or stock up on for gifting. The cafe holds Friday night live music, and theres a nice variety of genres! Sign up for their mailing lists. Its another way to be connected to community!

Love this bookshop thats so much more than books. Well curated selection of gifts, from inexpensive to moderate, make it a great choice for a secret santa or chanuka gift. Complete with a coffee bar and live music performances sometimes.

Every time we come to NY, we set aside an afternoon to visit Dolphin Book Store. Its a magical place for children and adults alike!

Excellent WiFi and service! Clean, quiet place to work for the day. Plenty of seating and reasonably priced (delish dirty chai) coffee! There is a $10 minimum for credit/debit cards in the cafe, FYI.

The staff asked me if I needed help as soon as I walked in. The lady helped me look for the book I wamted, unfortunately they did not have it. She then ordered it for me and in a few days they told me it was in The store and to come puck it up. The store has a lot of fun things to do for kids, and a coffee shop for adults. They accept credit and debit cards.

One of the few independent bookstores left on Long Island! The bookstore is split into three sections: a children/teen area (with books and toys), a cafe, and a room with the adult books and non-book gift items (candles, stationary, random goodies.) The adult book section has a limited selection: theyll definitely be carrying the big hardcover fiction and non-fiction releases, but they may not have that specific older paperback book youre looking for. They will happily order it for you, but I wouldnt say that Dolphin is your one-stop shop for the serious bookworm.The cafe is great: they use Stumptown beans!! I think they must be the only cafe on Long Island using Stumptown. Their barista knows how to use the beans as well, making some nice espresso drinks.Nice little bookstore with lots of things to browse and look at. Support your local booksellers!!

We just made a special trip to Dolphins Bookstore in Port Washington, and while they had an OK selection, it wasnt very kid friendly. While there is a separate section of kids books/toys, the space is kind of cramped so my eight year old was on the floor with four books spread out to decide what to get. Bookseller comes over to him directly and the first words out of her mouth are Are you buying those books? (Um, lame question to begin with.) I was around the corner so made my presence known and said he was choosing what to get and she said that she didnt want the books on the floor...which is fine, but no suggestion as to a better spot, no interest in WHAT he was reading. Really off putting. When I asked where shed prefer he be, she first looked confused, then said I could take the books to the cafe...like I was supposed to know that having books near food/drink was a better choice! Not going back.
