I brought my recently built AR to Shooter Service Center, as I was unable to remove the front sight from the rifle by myself. SSC was extremely helpful, they were able to solve my problem, in the timeframe and within the cost I was quoted. I had a great experience with them and would recommend to anyone that needs work on the firearms.
Went in today for an FFL transfer and the owners couldnt have made the process any easier. They are very knowledgable and have impeccable service. I couldnt recommend them enough - thank you again!
Nice store, nice guy who owns it. Ill be back I appreciate you..
Great service. Highly recommended.
Went here with a friend to pick up a new Taurus. 22 he ordered. Background check went smoothly. Gentleman who works there was friendly and knew the subject matter. Prices were fair. Id recommend overall.
They were one of few places that had the ammo I needed.
Everyone who owns/operates this store has always been professional, patient, and helpful, as well as kind, handling two gun purchases/transfers for me thus far. Even though their FFL is not uploaded to gunbroker.com for automatic transactions/shipping, I choose to deal with them anyway due to excellent customer service and the vitality to have and support a good, old-fashioned gun shop in st. johns! especially during these trying times. Thanks for all you do, SSC. Youve earned a lifetime customer here!
Fantastic service. Prompt and professional. Limited in store selection. FFL fees are a bit high, but totally legitimate. Support your local Portland gun shop! Don is a great asset for shooters who live in the city proper. Don’t buy big box! Go through a real live personable human. It’s your duty as a citizen!
My new Smith and Wesson Easy 9 mm I took it apart to do it 1st cleaning I put it together wrong God struck in the close position Shooter fix it almost immediately in a couple a days Very reasonable and helpful in pricing I like to so much just dropped off to new weapons Mossberg automatic shotgun As Smith and Wesson AR15 for cleaning And service highly recommend these folks
Bought Trijicon night sights for my Glock 43X. They were labeled for the Glock 43(his last in stock) which is correct as the slide widths are equal. Left gun for install. The sights that were installed(cheaper) were not for the 43. they were for a 17, 19, or similar. Also charged me $50 for install, which is overpriced for that service compared to other shops. Buyer Beware.
I wish there was a shop like this in every neighborhood in Portland. The only ones in my area are only worth visiting for the entertainment value of what comes out of the mouths of whomever is behind the counter. With the drought of real information and tsunami of “opinions“ regarding firearms especially in this town, you’d think more gun shops would lay off the political comedy routine. I catch the vibe that you’d be welcome at this place if you’re a sane human of any variety. I may be mistaken but I think SSC is woman-owned just doesn’t throw a parade for itself over it.More of what I’ve noticed--Phone calls seem to be absolutely layered on top of each other for these folks. Each one of mine has been answered but customers should be forgiving if nobody picks up the first time.-very small Friendly Pomeranian dog-Selection of everything from firearms to accessories is thin pickings. Note that this review is during the great pandemic of 2020 where certain industries are haywire to say the least. I hope to see about 1000% more of everything before too long, even if the moneys all in transfers or whatever the reason-Pricing ranges from below market value to quite egregious (I’m looking at you, $279 old stock rangefinder). Just do your research, the damn place isn’t a Cabela’s or trying to be, and then give them your money.-H. Benjamin Kirsch
I needed to find an FFL (Federal Firearms License) in order to sell a gun to a buyer. However, Covid closures, amplified by a huge uptick in gun sales, made it a challenge. After contacting several with no luck, Nicole at Shooters Service Center handled the transaction quickly and efficiently. Wed never been in that store before, but were treated with a level of courtesy as if we had. A little store when you look from the street, but with a sophisticated machine shop, plenty of cool merchandise, and helpful people inside. Glad I found it.
Fixed the loose trigger group components within my pistol after a firearms class. Wasn’t anything wrong, but the parts came loose due to said class.A gentleman of the staff reassembled, test fired, cleaned my m9 all for free. Have been shopping on and off first at SSC since moving into the area; staff are professionals and classy folk.Definitely take home more than I pay for.
The man who runs this store is extremely kind and informative. He was very helpful when I needed to trade my handgun in for a shotgun to comply with the laws in a different state that I am moving to next month. I would recommend this store to anybody.
I was going to be in the area and called ahead to see if they had a lower I wanted, but havent been able to buy near my home, in stock. They did not but Don found one and had it for me the next week when I arrived in the area when he didnt really have to. I will probably stop in again the next time I am up that way.
Don and the rest of the staff are knowledgeable and straightforward. Happy to explain stuff to you and help you find the right parts. They do most gunsmith work. Their location is quick to get to, being just off the St. Johns Bridge. Theres even reliably-available kerb parking.
In the midst of building two new systems, I discovered that I was missing two small but essential parts. Hunted all around my local area, to no avail, until someone mentioned Shooters Service Center. I phoned them and spoke with Don, who was very helpful and pleasant. He told me he had the parts I needed, so I made the 55-minute drive to his shop, and ended up having a very interesting discussion with Don about several gunsmithing issues (in addition to getting the needed parts). A VERY knowledgeable and helpful guy. Highly Recommended.
I have been there for 3 transfers so far. The ownership is passionate about their craft, the selection is great, I have been treated with respect and service with every transaction. This place is my go to from now on.They are also full service and arent shy about recommending competitors if they dont have it, a sign of a shop that is doing it for the right reasons. Thanks Don, your dedication to our right to bear arms clearly shows.
Don was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very funny. Reasonable pricing for merchandise which was posted on the website with no bait and switch. Great customer service. Was well worth the drive from West Linn.
Wonderful place to do business with. The owner really helped me out when I had a problem which earned them a lifetime customer.
I had contacted Don in order to facilitate a transaction between myself and another private C&R FFL. I had asked Don to be the Broker between us for transparency and security. Although the transaction ultimately was executed a different way, Don was helpful and courteous. I would recommend Don and his staff for all of your FFL required transactions as well as in store purchases he has a really nice selection.
Bought a gun there which they were nice too keep on hold for me. They said they didnt have much of a mark up. I looked it up and it seemed they saved me money on shipping. I could buy the gun online for $10 less, but with shipping it would have been more. I will go back someday if I am in the area.
Nicole did world class work on my glock frame to make it more comfortable and generally easier to shoot. Very happy customer!
What can I say. Its more like walking into the TV series set of Cheers rather than a store. Very friendly...it is the only gun store that I will buy from other that class 3 items. Never have to wait in long lines and they can order almost anything you want. At other gun stores I feel like Im a burden to them. Why would I spend money at gun store like that?
Got to know these guys when they helped me with a web transaction. Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I try to support small, locally owned businesses when I can and SSCs service is so good they make it a pleasure. This shop has really competitive pricing. That said, the advice and service is really what delivers value. Novice or seasoned gun owners alike -- as long as youre not one of those dorks who insists on saving that last penny on your gear -- should be very pleased with SSC.Theyre located a little out of my way but I make the trip because theyre worth it.
Ordered a gun online and picked it up at Shooters Service. Customer service is great.
A great shop. Everyone is very knowledgeable about firearms. Also a nice selection of merchandise and guns to choose from.
Always helpful and professional and always a pleasure to be there
Incredible customer service, probably the best local business in Oregon
Great selection, knowledgeable friendly staff that are more than willing to help with all your needs and questions. Nice wide variety of inventory to suit whatever you may be in the market for.
Owner is super polite and personable. Store is very clean with a nice selection of both ammo and firearms.
Excellent staff, profoundly helpful. Found my rifle for cheaper than the manufacturer listed on their website. Professional and knowledgeable.
Great variety of firearms for sale. Fair prices. Clean shop.
Great folks with great service. Very knowledgable and great to work with. Thanks!
Nice folks and very professional. Had some work done on a pistol and will return whenever I need anything.
Great service and selection. Knowledgeable friendly staff.
Been shopping here for years and have consistantly been treated respectfully! Highly competetive pricing and super accomodating. If they dont have what I am after they are always willing to order it for me, and do so in a timely fashion. Yet another one of St. Johns well-kept secrets. Thank you John, Nicole, Don, Aaron, and Gary!
Very helpful staff and always quality gunsmithing!
Aaron and Don are both wonderful and very knowledgeable, dont go anywhere else!
Great local shop for guns, ammo, supplies, and repair. Very friendly to a first time gun buyer.
Great service! Fast and professional. Thank you Don!
Great store. Super friendly and knowledgeable.
Popped the safety off of my Sig P938 while cleaning it for the first time & brought it into Shooters. My spring & pin popped out while he was trying to fix it. He replaced it for free & didnt charge me for his time. Where does this ever happen?! My shop from now on for taking care of maintenance & range supplies!
Very good work, reasonable prices, knowledgeable about firearms, and very friendly.
Great service!
Great place to do business with.
The guy hanged up the phone on me since I asked the cheapest deal for a hand gun. This was my worst experience ever from a shopping. I felt bad and I am not suggesting this place to any one since they act so bad and not helpful to me. I called at 11 am on jun 27/2017!
Don and crew have always taken care of me.
Don is the best!
Solid folks
