What a great toy store on Hawthorne. Amazing selection of all sorts of toys for all ages of kids. Way better than one of these big box retailers. A great local toy store

Horrible experience…verbally attacked upon entering store…”you have to have masks on”, which I did. My son is disabled and did not remember to put his mask back on. The woman was KURT AND SHOULD HAVE ASKED IN A MORE COURTEOUS MANNER. I decided not to waste my time there after my daughter asked if they had masks. The woman huffed and puffed going over to retrieve some, we just left. NOT HOW YOU GREET CUSTOMERS

One of my favorite places to shop as an itinerant K-12 teacher...theres always something there I can use for my students, and its such a warm and friendly little place.

I just tried walking into this toy store and had a very abrasive and rude first impression. Im 5 months pregnant and was excited to show for my expected child. Unfortunately the lady standing at the front desk yelled at me to put on a mask. I dont have a problem wearing a mask but when I asked if they provided masks she huffed about it and had a very repelling attitude... so I decided to walk right out. Unfortunately I wont be back and I wont recommend my friends and family to shop there. 😕 I wouldnt expect this from a sales associate at a toy store.

It was obnoxiously pivoting to see how unprofessional the employee was today on 7/23/2021 around 3 pm. When I walked in the store with my son both wearing masks to spent a large amount of money on toys for my children. Right after I entered a store there were a family of four with a little girl below age two. The employee of the store started yelling to the parents that her toddler needs to wear a mask, when the mother told her that she is below two, the employe still continue to yell at the mom that she cannot shop here. I understand that it is the right of the business to let who can shop in the store and who cannot. What I dont understand is that who gave the right to the employee to yell at the stranger just because her daughter was not wearing a mask. This yelling caused this little girl to go into tantrum and I just could not stand it and left the store. You just lost a very generous new customer because of your unprofessionalism and I hope there will be less stores like this.

This is a go-to toy store! Unique gifts or mainstream gifts like legos or board games. A whole WALL of stuffed animals and a ROOM full of books. They’ve always been friendly and they GIFT WRAP. Also, it’s on the bustling Hawthorne Blvd, but they have dedicated PARKING in back.

I take each of my children here on their birthdays to pick out a Squishable plush. Theyre not cheap...then again, theyre not cheap. Weve been doing it for years (my kids are teenagers now and still love it). Staff is friendly. Great selection.

We love our local toy store and make an effort to shop here as much as we can. Their selection is incredible. I am always amazed at how many good quality toys (and children books) they have in stock. They have a lot to choose and everything is great. Plus, they do an incredible job of wrapping every single toy (something you dont get with Amazon).

They have some adorable plush toys at the store. Unfortunately, they didnt have one I was looking for. That said, they were very helpful suggesting other local toy shops in the Portland area in the hopes of finding what I was looking for.

This has been my go to toy store for at least a decade. Ive never bought anything here that the kids havent loved.

Lovely, surprisingly capacious store with high quality toys, science & art kits, games, and crafty things. Not much here that falls outside of the narrowly gendered, white-centric fare that is typical of kids merchandise, though. For that, look at Hammer & Jacks on foster, or perhaps Kids At Heart might listen to customers who request products that expand our kids world rather than narrowing it.

I love this place! Great for gifts for friends of ALL ages! I come here often for the stuffed animals and figurines. Who can resist? Definitely fills a need to be a kid again, when one is a Kid At Heart ♥

Any business in the service industry is tested during the holiday season. I was able to see how well this place runs on the busiest of days. I came in the day before Christmas and the store was completely packed. The staff smoothly circulated helping others and myself find items and direct the line to the cashier. They also had a wrapping service for a small fee. The place was clean, inviting and excellent people on staff. I would recommend this store for anyone shopping for kids. It had a wide range of toys for all ages.

I bought some great things for my nephew there a while back. I think it was a story book with a CD. And I like going to look for items for other peoples kids as well. I have a lot of little ones in my life right now. :) Its fun to browse, too. :) The staff is friendly, and knowledgeable.

One of the best toy stores Ive ever been too. Plus a great selection of books. Toys in every price range. We picked up a some great stuff animals, books, play figures and some pretend play items.

Awesome local toystore, with robust selection on a small footprint. I think its cool they have popular toys that are actually made in Europe. Over the holidays giftwrapping is only $1/package and proceeds go to charity.

Great store for shopping for gifts for children, or if you just need a plush to hug! Theres a stuffed animal for whatever youd like, and puzzles and toys that are good for children! The cashiers are very nice, and helpful, dont be afraid to say hi or ask for help!

Great little local toy store. High quality toys, many with a focus on open ended play. You can still definitely throw together great bday present for around $20 (or less) if youre on a budget.

This is our most favorite toy store. They have a great selection, are always friendly, and will wrap a birthday gift for you, if you have left thing till the last min. They are also a great asset to the community, and participate in amazing benefits for schools and other charities.

Fantastic collection of toys you cant find at the big stores. We shop here for presents for our nieces and even buy fun stuff for our college-age daughters. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Love this shop.

Great selection of thoughtful, quality toys-not your normal plastic junk- and in a variety of price ranges. The staff were very nice. I just wish the store was larger so there is more space to explore - they pack a lot in.

This shop always participates and sponsor child friendly events around Portland. Prices are a little high but the selection is excellently curated, especially for the small space. There is a play area in store and a small back room book area. I love coming here for last minute party gifts, especially since they can gift wrap it for free. A neighborhood gem.

An excellent place to buy last-second birthday party presents (for kids). The prices are higher than youll find online, but its nice to see/and/or play with the toys youre going to give. They will even wrap your gifts for you! (at least around the holidays)

This store has a great selection of toys, and an awesome selection of science experiments, which my daughter heads straight for every time we go in. The staff is always super friendly and helpful. It can be more expensive than, say amazon, but youre supporting a local business.

I called inquiring about a particular toy, was told they had several. Once I entered the store I thought I had wrong store. The lady behind the counter had less personality than a zombie. She sat with her back to counter while I searched every isle repeatedly with my 3 kids in tow. While talking to my children I explained I was searching for a certain toy then we could leave (they were anxious for next stop). At no time were we even acknowledged by the lady behind the counter. Eventually I left my kids to play at the train table to search AGAIN. When I did ask about the item, the response was a clip no. I mentioned that I had called about it and her response was that she had never heard of the item! I called again when I returned home only to be told YES THEY HAVE 7 OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Granted its pricey, but you should expect that, its in the Thorne. However, theres a great selection in this place. Id say its calico critter central. Staff is very friendly as well.
