Hands down the best Volvo shop in the Portland metro area. The guys here do incredible work on Volvos. They seem to have a library of knowledge on every component of every Volvo that passes through here. They’re very thorough, they get maintenance done incredibly quickly, and more often than not they’re able to pencil you in on short notice. Super friendly and welcoming environment, and they always have a smile on their faces. Their prices are very fair and they don’t try to upsell you on unnecessary work. One of the few mechanic shops I leave actually feeling good about the experiences I have. Can’t recommend enough.

Vol-Tech is excellent! Theyve been nothing but honest with all of their assessments and work, and they stand by the work they do. The tech who was at the front desk when we came in a while back even addressed my wife as much as myself when talking about the work, which is rare in a lot of shops. We will keep taking our 2005 S40 T5 AWD here for the foreseeable future!

I brought my 06 V70R in to repair a blown head gasket. Vol-Tech found a cracked cylinder wall as well.I had also brought several parts to install that I had on hand. Vol-Tech had no issue with installing additional parts I brought in with the car.Vol-Tech allowed me to source a replacement engine and have it delivered to them. The removal of the damaged engine and installation of the replacement was done with excellent craftsmanship. Including refitting and partial rebuilding of replacement engine. Additionally Vol-Tech even sent the intake manifold out for powder coating! Who does that!? No one is the answer.Wow all details were covered. Wiring, hoses, routing, mechanical, accessories, securing...Excellent installation. Excellent Customer Service. There were a lot of moving parts/logistics to complete this job.Vol-Tech completed this project with attention to detail and Customer Service.Love the work they did for me!

I brought my 1988 Volvo 245 the other week. I asked them to see about fixing the A/C (which I knew was a long shot). They called me the same evening with a laundry list of fixes which I was happy to hear about at first. When I asked for an estimate they said theyd get it to me the next day. I didnt hear from them so I called them that afternoon thinking maybe I had agreed to call them but forgot. They picked up and said they were with a customer but would call me by the end of the day with the estimate (this was Thursday). I didnt hear from them that evening, nor did I hear from them on Friday. Monday came and went and I didnt hear from them so I called them Tuesday only to reach an answering machine. EVENTUALLY they called me back and said looks like weve been playing phone tag...Ha. Okay. Then comes the estimate. He starts off by telling me I need to replace the back hatches on my car (its a wagon). I told him I wasnt interested in nit picking the car and from the sound of his initial list, there were more immediate safety fixes that Id like to focus on. He told me I needed an oil change - I had an oil change the week before - the shop DID forget to put a sticker on the windshield but I feel like he couldve checked the oil and figured out things were okay but what do I know? Then the real list of fixes start...the estimate totaled to over $2,100 and this was not including the initial thing I was curious about (the A/C). I wrote down everything that needed to be fixed along with his quotes. Something seemed off and I went ahead and researched a few things on my own. I immediately found discrepancies but of course, Im not a mechanic and weve all gone on WebMD when weve been sick and come to the conclusion that we indeed must have a brain tumor so again, what do I know?Anywho, I call him back up and I tell him that Id like to pick up the car instead. I felt in my gut (after being ignored for almost a week and then lied to about a game of phone tag) that this was not the mechanic for me. He seemed surprised and told me that my ball joint was extremely dangerous and there was a high likely hood that if I drove it, it would brake and my car would slam into the ground. I told him Id take my chances and drive slow. I know ball joints can indeed be dangerous. In the end, I took my car to another Volvo shop. I gave them the list of fixes and they checked them over and addressed everything. They laughed and told me yes, the ball joint needed to be replaced along with a few small things and my total bill would be a whopping $220...not $2k.Moral of the story, if youre feeling uneasy about this place, trust your gut and get a second opinion. I give them 2 stars because I feel bad they wrote up an estimate without getting any money from me but I feel justified because I truly feel they tried to screw me over. :(

Vol-Tech rocks!Earlier today someone pointed out I had a busted headlight, so I stopped by Vol-Tech on the way home from work. Man...these guys are awesome! They replaced the bulb and hooked me up with a new cover (which was missing) basically for free. Can’t recommend them enough. Will definitely be coming back next time I need a fix.

Top Notch! Brought in a 1999 V70R after purchasing from an auction. The guys at Vol-Tech did a front to back post purchase inspection. They recommended critical work and others that was not pressing. Mechanic called me and advised me what exactly they were going to do. Car is working like it was driven right out of a dealer. They even through in some extra work at no charge. Very impressed with this shop and their integrity. They have gotten another loyal customer.

I have been taking my Volvos to this shop for years and have never been disappointed. The crew at Vol-tech have fixed a myriad of car and engine problems and also checked out some cars for me when I was shopping for one. I really could not be any happier with the years of service I have gotten from them and would recommend their automotive expertise to anyone looking for a good mechanic in NE Portland.

We just bought a Volvo 850 turbo and I was in need of parts. After reading the other reviews I thought I would try and buy my parts there. Although I was doing the work myself, the guys went above and beyond. Chris offered to give the car a once over for me. I have never experienced anything like this from another mechanic shop. They have gained my trust and business!

This is a busy shop, but once your car is in there, it wont take very long to be finished! We dropped our little yeti (01 V70XC) off on Monday morning, and it was done after 5pm on Tuesday. We live pretty far away, but no one in the three towns we drive through to get there do Volvos. I read a lot of reviews for Jim Fischer, Swede One, and Volvos Only, and none of them had consistently good reviews like Vol-Tech.When we came in for the drop-off, the owner was in and out of the office (we just got the car, so we had more than a few concerns), and he would comment on things I was saying in a helpful way. Everyone we encountered there, Martin especially, was extremely friendly and helpful.Truly one of the best encounters with mechanics I have ever had, and if you have a Volvo, I highly recommend them. One of their long-time customers was in the office and I chatted him up while Martin was on the phone, and he said they are the best! Also? We paid less than they quoted us. Thats just good business. We will be back, though hopefully not *too* soon!

My car blew up on the freeway near Olympia, Washington. Being 100 miles from my usual mechanic-Vol-Tech, I had it towed to a shop in Olympia. After receiving a quote of $2300.00 more in Olympia, (major difference) vs.Vol-Tech for the same work, Im having it towed 100 miles to be fixed at Vol-Tech.Love Vol-Tech,but you may want to avoid buying the Volvo 2004 XC-90 T6, its a money pit! Of course this is not Vol-Techs fault in any way, and they are keeping it on the road in the most economical way possible!

These guys have taken car of our last three Volvos and have always taken good care of us. Theyre very friendly and if you need a pre-purchase inspection they know everything to look for. They also are great for getting your Volvo checked up on. Super quick service, they guarenteed all of their work and parts, and theyre super communicative. They tend to get super busy, so you sometimes have to try more than once to get your call answered, but thats not really their fault.

The car broke down as we were heading to our show in Portland last summer. After a repair shop in Washington left us questioning our experience we decided to find someone who clearly knew Volvos. These guys are great. Not only were they thoroughly knowledgeable, they understood our tight budget. There was a laundry list of repairs to be done, but they prioritized them for us. We took care of what needed to be done to make the trek back to Ohio without spending any more than we had to. On top of all that one of the fellas in the shop offered to pay part of the repair in exchange for one of our t-shirts and a copy of our album. All in all, a really swell experience.

My husband usually brings in the car and things have been fine. Wondering why I got such different treatment?Monday:I was told my old key was toast and would not work with the new key/fob. So I ordered a second regular key as a back up.Tuesday: It was very difficult to get in for my appointment with my work schedule but I got there only to be told their computer didnt work that day. They had the keys but couldnt program them. A phone call would have saved an hour drive and lots of stress.Thursday: I drop my car to get the keys programmed, oil changed and headlight changed. They said they will cal me in 1- 1.5 hours when it is done. 2+ hours later I still havent heard form them. I call it goes to voice mail so I walk back to them. My paper work is sitting on the counter. A man is ahead of me. He asks for the guy to get his gear shift so he can go. The guy leaves. We wait. We wait. I go outside to find him working on a battery of a different car in the parking lot. I tell him I now have 15 minutes to get to work. He says he will be with me as soon as possible and goes back to tinkering. He comes back and says that all 3 keys have been programmed. I DONT NEED 3 keys! I only need the main key and a fob. This costs me $125 that I really need right now. I told him I asked specifically if we could program that broken key and he said no. But they did. I told him I dont need it and his response was that they had already ordered it. So I was obligated! He made me buy something I dont need. Then he says...thier computer went out so the key fob I paid $275 for DOESNT WORK. And that he will have to get to it some time next week.I know it is just a key but my job, my dogs, my 91 year old mom and my back injury are all affected by it. It is important to me. The casual dismissive attitude was appalling. I am very disappointed. I paid over 400 for an oil change and keys I dont need.

I dropped my car off Monday morning for an oil change and a few known issues to be investigated further. They said theyd call my by the end of the day to let me know what they found. FIVE days later of not returning calls when they promised they would, they had no answers for me, and told me they had changed my spark plugs (that I did not authorize), and the car was ready for pickup. I went to pickup the car and pay, and found out they had NOT changed the oil I took it to them for in the first place!

They are mega sheisty. Had a bad bering Im the back wheel and they replaced a caliper in the front wheel that didnt need replacement, whilst completely neglecting the problem that could easily cause a severe malfunction that could have resulted in injury or death. So they charged 230 to fix something that wasnt broke. Super irresponsible and nasty people.
