Great place for DIYers, van lifers and more!Weve visited this place at least a dozen times this summer and these folks never fail to disappoint. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable, making newbies like me feel comfortable!This large center has a huge variety of materials. I appreciate how things are decently priced too!

I only had to look once to see if all the cedar 4x4s were straight. There was only one 4x4x 8 that had a slight check and bow to it. Im always satisfied with the quality of their wood. You may pay a little extra, but its well worth it because youre supporting a local business and helping local employees, who by the way are friendly, knowledgeable and quick to help.

Friendly people but lumber prices are way to high. Not completely their fault for lumber prices. Other then that great place to go. Their staff knows what they are talking about.

Great local lumber and hardware supplier. I built a deck this summer and they have everything you need and higher quality versions than big box stores, support local business and shop here instead.Mr. plywood can be a bit intimidating if you are new to lumber and woodworking but once you figure out how things work its a great place to pick up wood, tools, and other supplies. They stock more than you think.I also like the community feel, customers actually wore masks during the pandemic, feels much better in here than in my closest big box. Prices are a bit higher but the quality is worth it.

Went here after browsing some big box stores in my area. Definitely made the right decision as a first time buyer. I was looking for some pre-primed pines for using in some shelving we are planning to build. One of the representatives at the store explained me all the different sizes and types (rounded vs square) they had and helped me to get them cut to the sizes I wanted for easy transportation in my sedan. He also showed me other materials people use for shelving and suggested me tools I might require. Extremely happy with the service and definitely going back for my next project.

These guys I cannot say enough about, very helpful when I went in and asked for some items theyre quick to take me to them quick to ask if I need help with it quick to ask me if I need help putting it in my vehicle. I would recommend Mr plywood to anybody that asked!

This place has everything you need for most household projects. I like to go here first and buy as much as I can, and then hit up Home Depot down the road for any odds and ends that I can’t find at Mr. Plywood first. But this rarely happens, they pack a huge amount of stuff into this relatively small (by home improvement store standards) warehouse space. Friendly and helpful employees also help to make this my first stop for home improvement projects.

Excellent, excellent customer service! Quality selection of sheet goods like Baltic Birch plywood in 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 sizes (including 4x8 sheets of 3/4) and other hardwoods and materials. They break down sheet goods for you however you like and in a very timely manner. Alwats someone knowledgeable there to help. Great store and one of my favorite in the Portland/Vancouver area.

Friendly staff, hard to find plywood siding in stock. Had what we needed to get the job done! Definitely worth the drive from southwest Portland!

I went on a Sunday looking for pressure treated lumber(they had it in stock). It was busy but they were spot on, moving everyone through the checkout line with friendly efficiency. The guy who cut my wood order was friendly and very helpful. He even took my completed wood order out to my car and then loaded it for me.

Ive been shopping at Mr. Plywood since I moved to the Portland area almost 20 years ago. Love Mr. Plywood. My last car had an I love Mr Plywood sticker. So anyway, I call them up and say that I need some plywood and can you cut it to size? The guy on the phone is really helpful and says come on down but we usually stop cutting at 5:30. So I get there at 5:18. A helpful guy gets me the wood I need and says stand in line, youll pay for it and theyll cut it. Im in line 15 minutes, get up there (Its 5:42 by now) and the cashier says that they cant cut my Plywood, after the one guy told me how to proceed. The cashier was curt and didnt seem to give a damn. I will still go back to Mr. Plywood. I believe this is a one-time lousy experience, but I hope the manager sees this and talks with his employees about taking care of your customers.

Cool space, well organized, cheap cuts to size, and staff were friendly too

Due to the pandemic, building materials are in HIGH demand and short supply. I emailed our lumber order for the garden shed were building to Mr. Plywood, after many people recommended their supplies and service. There service was astounding, including finding comparable materials when my special order cedar was not available. Delivery was prompt and free! Customer service was friendly & accurate. Highly recommend!!

Pretty good prices and selection on hardware lumber to purchase by the linear foot for woodworking. Good assortment of plywood / wood panels. Lots of fence materials in the back.

I needed special sized and grained wood. They know where to get it. Good helpful crew.

Still my favorite place to buy wood in Portland. Great crew working there. I only wish theyd speed-up the checkout process, it is very manual still, basically hasnt changed at all in the 25 years Ive been shopping there (am I that old?).

Pleasantly surprised. Hit the box stores but didnt find what I was looking for. Didnt want to go here because quite a few years ago the employees seemed so miserable and the service showed it. Their doing much better now. Quality is great - they take care of the inventory.

Great place for better quality wood compared to lower brands like Home Depot. One sales person doesnt seem very bright though. He speaks even when he acknowledge the customer is Deaf.

Always check quality and price at Mr Plywood first, they usually beat others in both categories. Parking can be a problem if you bring a trailer. Several employees are always available to help you.

Excellent service and selection

If I could give them zero stars I would. Never actually been to the place and never will. I was referred to them from a nice gentleman at Home Depot, since Home Depot did not have the specific material I needed. When I called, a very rude man with zero customer service skills answered and was very short with me. He was acting like he didnt want to be at work and had no interest in answering my very simple questions. Three questions in, he suddenly cut me off mid-sentence and said, Im going to place you on hold. Thank you. I waited for about 5 minutes before I decided to just hang up. I will never give these people my money, and I recommend you dont either. Glad I never wasted my time actually going into the store!

Great place. Employees were helpful and the variety was great. I found some beautiful cedar pickets for a fair price. big box stores had junk compared to this place. the only negative was the little forklift guy who was clearly having a bad day and tried to ruin mine...

This is a locally-owned lumber yard, not a tries-to-fit-all home supply store. Good selection of trims, ply, hardware and lumber. Friendly service and decent prices. I go here before the big box stores.

Great selection. Offered to help me to me car. On the pricey side but totally worth it. You can actually find what you need there.

Really 4.5 stars. Service was very good and they have things on the shelf you would really have to hunt for or special order just about anywhere else. Prices are a little higher then you might find at the usual suspects but you wont get this kind of service or knowledge from anyone working at those places.

The staff is overall very helpful. It would be nice if they had bike parking outside though. Sometimes I would like to stop by in my way from work to buy a small item and there is nowhere to park outside.

Finding a spot to park a trailer at this location can be challenging but the staff is always super helpful and friendly. Great quality and lots of product in stock at any given time.

Went there knowing very little about what we needed and it was poorly spec’d out. Got up to the front with all of our bad decisions, and the person who was ringing us up immediately started asking questions. 2 questions deep, and they were helping us plan it our. Within minutes, our poorly chosen screws and wood were replaced with the right stuff. Everything worked out exactly as planned - really couldn’t be more pleased with this experience!

COVID protocols make buying lumber here really difficult. Staff seem overwhelmed and customer service seems like it’s taken a nose dive. Their yard was full of messed up boards and they weren’t understanding that I didn’t want to pay full price for them. They don’t have a system set up for phone orders. Just to buy lumber we had to wait in line three times, and got tons of excuses from the manager and some employees. Stinks because I heard such good things about this place. Won’t be shopping here again

They only hire pretty people at Mr P. The dudes who work there are the Trophy Wife of Mr Plywood.

There are a lot of hidden fees with these folks, great customer service, but they really nickle and dime you based on how they operate. I like supporting local businesses, and the people seem nice, but not great at operations or customer loyalty.

These folks are extremely good at what they do. They are knowledgeable, efficient and altogether easy to work with. I brought in some blue prints with what sizes of planks I needed cut and because I did my half of the work I was able to walk out with exactly what I asked for and all within a very timely manner.

If I could give this place a zero I would. Loaded up $400 worth of materials waiting in line and a staff member has issue with me not covering my nose with my neck gaitor. And asks me to wait outside and they will ring me up. Excuse me while I was in the store for over 30 minutes. This place will not get my business ever again.

As a 25-year veteran of the carpentry and remodeling business the DIY, problem solving realm, places like this are great. Straight forward pricing, good access to all the materials, and most importantly, knowledgeable people, running the business. I would have given them five stars, except there was a little glitch in the markings of a somewhat complicated product, that required some digging for information. The upside of that was that I got great help digging that information up, and successfully got all the supplies I needed. I plan to go back for my various plywood needs.

Local, well-stocked, well-priced, super knowledgeable, and all around awesome.If youre really a beginner expect to feel a little lost for a little bit (or ask for help) but organized perfectly for pros and once you know what youre looking for.If you can swallow your pride and ask for help, everyone there really knows their stuff and is incredibly helpful - not the poor, untrained big-box employees making bad guesses. They may talk over your head accidentally, but never condescending or annoyed. Multiple times Ive been given advice on a project that actually saved me money.

This has become my go-to place for lumber in general and plywood in particular. Their selection of regular goods - wood, fasteners, metal and so on - includes everything one would normally use. They have a very good selection of plywood and paneling and are able to get specialty items quickly. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Whats more, the big box and general lumber stores recommend them.

Its a local store, not a chain, and they do have good prices. I was looking for top quality 12 cedar 4x4s and the selection was not great. All of the ones they had on hand were warped and/or checked. I had to sort though the whole bin to find the best ones.

I love this place. Great not only for wood but just a million other little things are crammed in there.Need THREE screws and not a whole pack? They have a bulk section (great for plastic-free living).Need liquid nails for subflooring? Yup. Stain for your fence? Yup. Hardware to build a barn door? Yup.I always check here before home depot. The people are nice, the atmosphere is cool, and they so frequently have what I need that they make it easy to support my local shop.

The people here are amazing! I ran out of gas about a block away from here. I found a gas can with gas elsewhere but the can didnt have a nozzle so I came in looking for a funnel or something to help get the gas into my tank. One of the men working there grabbed his own gas can and helped me fill my tank. These are truly kind people who know the meaning of the word service!

Mr Plywood is the best. We buy all our wood there for our building needs. The staff is helpful and the place is great. It is one of those classic Portland businesses with the great sign out front. We love it.

Satisfaction every time.

I came in looking for some material to build a shelf using brackets that required a very odd thickness of material. I brought in the bracket, asked for some help and the individual who spoke with me did an amazing job. He gave me multiple options and helped me troubleshoot the issue but ultimately informed me that it would be highly unlikely for me to find the exact thickness of material in any retail store. Basically no one makes material the way I needed it for the brackets to fit just right. He could have just said, We dont have this. Good luck. But instead he spent some valuable time with me and saved me from going on a wild goose chase and wasting a ton of time. Now Im working on a different project and Ill be heading back for my supplies.

Heres the best way to appreciate Mr. Plywood: go shop at HomeDepot first and when you leave there with a customer satisfaction level at about 0, go to Mr Plywood. They know their products, theyre very helpful, and theyre local. Theyre good, really good. The only reason Im not giving them 5 stars is because I dont feel as comfortable returning unused products there as I do Home Despot.

Great variety of moulding.

Great selection! You can pretty much find whatever you need related to lumber, fasteners, and building material. Prices average out to be a bit higher than the big orange or blue box stores, but I would price check here because sometimes things are quite a bit cheaper, just depends on what you are looking for at the time. Quality of lumber is generally better too. Ive had mixed results with the service, and I think it comes down to the employee you end up with. As long as you come knowing what you need for the most part, you will be perfectly fine. My one real complaint is the checkout counter, which just doesnt functionally work for moving large loads through, especially during busy times with multiple people in line. If they had the main checkout counter next to the big loading door instead, things would probably run smoother. All in all I prefer coming here for my lumber needs, if for nothing else than to support a local business.

I called ahead to see if they had a certain size of lumber so I wouldnt waste an hour driving round trip across town. I got here and they had nothing even close to what the guy on the phone said. I asked an employee if that section was the only place they had this certain Lumber and he mumbled yup and walked away without even making eye contact. I guess customers cant really be bothered with there. I dont know why this place is popular. Their prices are ridiculous, they are rude, and they dont mind wasting your time.

The customer service is top notch. The selection of materials is good, and if they dont have it they will make every effort to do so. Highly recommend.

This place is my favorite Portland area lumber yard. Experienced, knowledgeable staff, good selection. You get to select your own boards! The product is a bit pricey but as long as youre engaging the staff property its worth the extra twenty cent per LF/BF.
