One of the most bizarre customer experiences I have had in a long time. There was only a small selection of beer and wine. We visited twice on two separate occasions and the women made us feel like we were constantly trying to steal her very sparse array of booze, there were worse liquor stores but the people were slightly more friendly. Only go if everything else is closed.

The lady yelled at us for having Maine IDs after we mentioned being from South Carolina (which is true). It was very odd and unpleasant to say the least. She also yelled at us about wearing masks on the way in, when everybody had a mask on except for a couple of us who were outside in the process of putting them on before coming in. She should stop literally yelling full volume at her customers, its not very hospitable.

Good selection of wines and beer. The staff are attentive and efficient. Great late night convenience location, for that part of town.

Its maybe a bit more expensive but shes open later than most everywhere walking distance. And if you talk to her, she is a crazy cool. Treat her like a person instead of a robot, youll see!

This store is open later than anywhere else in portland, has a great selection, and an incredibly friendly owner. Fyi- if anyone complains about prices, you have to understand that you pay for convenience. It is like that in anymajor city like nyc and sf. This place is reasonable and has a great selection.

Customer service was terrible and the owner extremely RUDE. There isnt one item that is priced reasonably and for anyone looking for a good deal, you surely wont find it at the Corner General Store at 115 Middle Street. Not trying to be mean, its just my observation that prices are a little on the rediculous side. To think I would ever pay $8.00 for a tiny turkey sandwich, $3.00 for a can of soda and $10.00 for a pack of Marlboro cigarettes is taking advantage of the customers and not living in reality. I will take my business elsewhere in the future.

It is unfortunate that Zach Leland has posted very negatively about the wrong business! Zach is reviewing City Beverage, which is notorious for overcharging, not The Corner General Store. Why do I believe this? Well, for starters, I dont sell small turkey (or any sandwiches) for $8.00 and my canned sodas cost 99 cents, including sales tax and bottle deposit. I dont know what kind of cigarettes he bought, but many of the brands I carry are under $10. So, its unfortunate Zach Leland had an unfavorable experience, but its just a shame that he has attributed it to a business he did not patronize.

Seems like small convenience stores are going the way of the dinosaur - they cant compete with big supermarkets. So I am grateful to have The Corner General Store in my neighborhood! Yeah, its more expensive than shopping at Hannaford, but I dont have a Hannaford two blocks away, plus I prefer a small shop without long lines. For wine (great selection) and beer, chips and baked beans, batteries and toilet paper, cigarettes - the basics - its really nice to have a local bodega, especially one that is open every night till 1am. You pay a little more to cover those downtown rents, but the trade-off is worthwhile, and as Portland becomes increasingly gentrified, its nice to support a small local business.I am a longtime customer of The Corner General Store, and like many locals, I have come to know the owner well. If you have an idea for something you think she should be carrying (especially something you know you will buy in the future), let her know - she is open to suggestions!

I just purchased a 6 pack of Baxter brewing co ipa and a four pack of foundation riverton flyer. The total cane to $31.60. Absolutely a rip off, I will never be returning to this store or recommending it to anyone.

After buying several overpriced items and then being overcharged by more than $15 due to double scanning of items, we were met with hostility when we asked to see the receipt

Tried to charge us an extra $15 and claimed it was because she charged something that was $3 twice. Incredibly rude woman. Do not go here. Super expensive and not worth it.
