Stopped here for dinner one evening and I had the gluten free fish and chips (cod). The fish was cooked perfectly, batter not greasy at all, light and tasty, you wouldn’t guess it was gluten free. Freshly cooked and piping hot. Tartar sauce tasted freshly made (I don’t usually like tartar sauce but I finished it all) and mushy peas were lovely. It came with a good portion of proper chunky chips. Lovely friendly service with friendly locals too. Worth every penny!
Great food great service. I found the menu a little difficult, so I settled for the burger. It was excellent!
I really like this place. Its a basic pub restaurant done well. The cooking is quite a high standard and the atmosphere is nice. That said, good as the food is, its on the unimaginative side. We go there because its local for us, but I wouldnt call it a destination. Its a good neighbourhood pub. Great for meeting other peoples dogs.
A gem of a place. Great food and brilliant staff. Lovely setting. The restaurant manager runs an outstanding venue.
Been here a couple of times now and on both occasions the food and service has been great. The kids meals impressed as usually the kids menu food is not of the same standard to the normal menu and this was not the case here quality food all the wayThank you
Nice food, nice atmosphere. Service could’ve been a tiny bit more attentive from our server generally but whenever eye contact was made they were straight over. The steak burger was great and my friends lamb shoulder looked to be as soft as butter. Awesome food and who doesn’t love a cafetière for one to finish the meal.
We have been lucky enough to visit The Tally Ho multiple times and each time have received fantastic service and brilliant food. This is a great spot to come if you have kids, as there is a small play area with some swings and a tractor for them to play on. Its also a great place to bring your dog, as we often do. You can either sit inside or they now offer outdoor seating under the marquee.Highly recommend and look forward to returning in the near future.
The pub is at a nice place and has a nice look but the service was not good. When we came we were placed at a table which was not cleaned - we had to ask to clean the table and the person who cleaned the table was not able to clean it properly. We waiting almost 15min until somebody came and took our drinks order.Food took as well very long to come and in person has ordered a burger with avocado but the avocado was missing. He asked 2 times the waiter for the avocado and went off and never came back with an answer. Only after taking to the manager the avocado reached the table .Ambiance would be great but they have to improve their service.
Fantastic food, very friendly staff, who accommodated us and our doggie.
Great pub. Lovely garden spaces, perfect for people with dogs. The food is really good and a great selection of drinks. Well worth a visit.
Excellent food as always, very welcomingWas met by a very happy young lady who was very friendly. Credit to the teamWill be revisiting
Great customer service and delicious food. Were able to accommodate us for Sunday lunch at short notice too.
Mocca and hot chocolate warm rather than really hot. Tasty though. Dog friendly.
Great food, very large portions! Staff were friendly and attentive but not pushy. Fantastic gin menu. Would definitely go back.
Arrived today for a late lunch without booking. Myself and friend shown immediately to a table and within minutes smiley Wendy arrived to take our drinks order. We ordered our food, a chicken caesar salad and a fish finger sandwich, both listed as light bites. In hardly any time the food arrived, huge portions and absolutely delicious.Sorry to say only reason not 5 stars is the ladies toilets need a scrub.
Sadly only 1 star today. Having been to the Tally Ho over the last 10 years or so and always been pleased, this evening was poor. Service very slow and quality of the Sunday lunch was not great. Beef was tough and roast potatoes not cooked well. To be fair they reflected it in the bill and can only hope this is a one off.
Waited an hour for food, got the order wrong and forgot about my drink three times. The food when it arrived was lovely but not very attentive unless your a loud customer complaining about their meals. The waiters were bending over backwards for a family being rude about their seating and a meal which their child ordered then didnt like and took if off the bill even though the dad ate it.Not great selection for kids meals.Waiter also said to another member of staff we supposedly were just on one table which I found very strange.Maybe be rude and you get better customer service here.
Been a number of times in the past and really enjoyed the meals in the garden, but now no food is served in the beautiful gardens, instead only in the front on the main road and service today was shocking, understaffed for sure, hope its a short term issue. Food was still really good though.
Exceptional gluten free menu with lots of choices, great service and delicious food.
Food was OK for a Sunday roast. Main and only irritation was their lack of high chairs. Had to juggle our 1 year old for the whole meal.
Just right for an impromptu and enjoyable lunch. We each had the ploughmans- very nice.😊
Very good meal. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Many thanks
Our second visit here and really nice welcoming pub following all regulations. Service prompt and pleasant and the food of course good and tasty. Another visit has to be on the cards soon. 😊👍
Lovely pub with a massive outdoor area, nice menu, good selection of beers.Children and dog friendlyReasonably priced
Bloody Nora what a beautiful pint of mango cider, I can highly recommend the squid was amazing. Chips were perfectly cooked with a banging mayonnaise, quick serving time covid ready with handy gel and one of the waitresses gave my friend a new mask as they had forgot. Great scenery and would 1010 go again
Service was second to none, friendly and efficient . Food was excellent with a good choice and everything on the menu was available. We’ll be back!
Unreal little pub!! So welcoming without being constantly on edge by the COVID regulations/restrictions like a lot of the other places I’ve been to. The choice for gluten free is amazing & they make sure to let the kitchen know to cook separately. Also the gin choice is fab, so many to choose from! Service was perfect, wasn’t rushed & staff were attentive/checked everything was ok. Will definitely be back!
First time there since lockdown restrictions. It would have been nice if the person who took me to my table also told me that it was order from app only. Sat for too long wondering why no one was coming over.
Booked a table for 5 adults two children and a high chair. Arrived yesterday for my birthday dinner. Was the first to arrive. Walked into the pub and felt a bit self conscious since mine was the only black face. Ordered my drinks and said that I would be outside waiting for the rest of my party to arrive. Head waitress/manager asked me if I wanted to eat outside to which I said no. Rest of the party eventually arrived and we were seated at our table . There were a few diners already in there. The manager came over to the nearest table to us and asked them if they wanted to move. I’m sorry but I can only draw one conclusion the manager asked if they wanted to be moved because of the colour of our skin (it couldn’t be because of the children sine they were already aware that children would be attending).I mentioned to the manager that I found her remarks offensive she just turned her back and waited to see if the other diners wanted to be moved to wish they said no. Can I applaud those diners who excepted us as human beings who did not discriminate because of the colour of our skin.I would have taken my custom elsewhere but it was late and my grandchildren were hungry.
Very nice food, location, and venue (gardens). Pretty reasonably priced.
Very nice place, lovely inside, huge garden, quiet and most of all excellent food
Amazing atmosphere, very good service! Will definitely go back
Nice setting but shame about the roast beef. Too tough too chewy
Excellent food and lovely atmosphere. Large outdoor seating area. Highly recommended.
Went in while out and about randomly and must say, it has nice environment both indoors and outdoors. Food was nice and had a nice time chilling with the lads. Will come back from time to time
Great atmosphere. Good service. Good food. Like it.
Quality food and a relaxing atmosphere with responsive service that makes sure you have a good meal.
Nice pub, good food and attentive staff. Well done.
Me and my friends come back here time and time again because of the cosy, welcoming environment and tasty food.
Nice pub with good food and friendly staff.
Good Ambience and service...Nice staff..Great selection of drinks ...Food is average..
Lovely food, beautiful environment even though it rained, we were warm and dry because of the huge marquee. Good efficient friendly service. Thank you, well be back.
Oh Ill definitely be returning to this pub/restaurant. I visited with friends after a morning walk & we were 10 mins late for our arrival but the friendly staff found us a table in the bar which was cool & airy so we were happy. The dog was given water & treats and we were quickly served drinks. 1 x fish & chips and 2 x chilli beef salad ordered. We all enjoyed our food especially the beef salad eaters (please try this it is delicious) and we were well looked after. The bill plus 10% tip was £20 per head (no alcohol) so reasonable as the portions were a good size.As a real ale fan I was pleased to see 4 local ales on tap and will need to visit one evening to sample them.
Shared an excellent meal with friends celebrating 55 years married
Not been here for a long time. This was an excellent meal with excellent service and very good value for money. Very good Covid control. Will visit again.
As always the food was good as was the service . I will be back soon.
Beautiful picturesque pub set in garden grounds, fantastic friendly service, great menu and prices will visit again Thank you.
Superb lunch after a good morning walk. Staff were friendly and welcoming even though we hadnt booked a table.
Always an excellent choice for a nice meal 👍
Great service, tech issue with ordering system causing slight delay but negligible. Excellent food, well worth any delay
Lovely to be able to visit The Tally Ho after so long. Great food as was always, lovely staff and fantastic ambience.
Totally spontaneously we decided to try this place out. Wed heard much about it, all positive, so off we trotted. Securing a table by the fire, we were dealt with nicely and politely; once wed decided who was driving home, a non alcoholic gin was suggested to go alongside the well described beer. Olives and king prawns started the meal, and since there was a sufficiency of delicious chilli and garlic oil left from around the prawns, I asked for a little bread to mop it up. It came; and fluffy and delicious it was too.Mains of sea bream and belly pork were swiftly despatched: the cassoulet that accompanied the bream was a little too paprikery for my wife but I found it amazing: we swapped bits to compensate!Passion fruit cheesecake and sticky toffee puddings topped off the meal. Nice, not too sweet, nice touches on presentation. And on that, when my cafetière arrived it came with a little sandglass to judge when to push the plunger. All in all, highly recommended.
Great food nice garden area and dogs allowed 🥃
Great staff and very nice food quiet area and space for kids to play. A little pricy but you get what you pay forHighly recomend it
Excellent all round booking service, food atmosphere and waiting service. All well organised for Covid restrictions too. The crispy beef salad was 10 out of 10! Will be back soon thank you.
Excellent food, sat outside in covered area, service was friendly, polite and helpful, will go again!
Lovely food, lovely pub, friendly staff. Parking abit rubbish but not their fault as its on the corner. But Id go there again
Wonderful staff, good food, average portions
Well organised, quality establishment with a good menu and drinks list. Attentive and polite staff plus a good sized garden area
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Great food and wonderful service

As always, good quality food, quick attentive service, and good value too
Atmosphere was friendly and very efficient with service
The garden is lovely. food good
Went here for Sunday Dinner was really nice and a good portion. Staff were very prompt and friendly
Great location and nice outdoor seating. However, it took 30 min to get 2 beers each time we ordered from our outdoor table.
One of the most disappointing evening experiences ever. The service was atrocious, the food was delayed, cold and dried out from being left on the pass for so long. I went out for my birthday meal tonight with my family to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. We planned an early start to avoid the evening rush however we sat at the table without service for almost 45 mins. The food then arrived a further hour later. We left the majority of the food, paid and left (we sat at 6:30 and this photo was taken at 8:45).I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT and would not eat here again. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!
Excellent pub, great food. Always busy!
Lovely, friendly atmosphere. Service was excellent.
Great food!Great service!
Good pint an the food was decent size and decent when eaten
Excellent lunch. Good service
Excellent food and service, pleasant setting
Great place with a great team
Great nice pub CoVId secure. Waiting to go back when they have the full menu
Good quality food, great taste but not too heavy - we all left feeling well fed but not uncomfortable (there were four of us and we all had a three course meal) 😊 Staff were really attentive and welcoming, which was lovely as this was our first meal out since the lockdown started. Huge garden space which would be great on a sunny day, to chill out with a few pints. Easy to get to and every effort had been made to ensure social distancing was in place, but it was a very smooth transaction so you didn’t feel intimidated by it all and even the face shields became normal by the end of the evening. Defiantly recommend and will be going back again! 😋
Outstanding Sunday afternoon meal at this really fabulous country freehouse. Excellent chips - they are so fab they get first mention! Both the meals my wife and I had were excellent and the dessert of Creme Brulee was excellent, and special mention goes to the two small shortbread cookies they served with it....both were the most tender, melt in the mouth shortbreads. Absolutely amazing pie as well, the crust definitely was homemade.I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a good meal at a nice pub.
Food was delicious with great service from Roberto.
Nice place, with large garden and play area. BBQ outside in summer months. Good food.
Good vegan options
Lovely Sunday roast with all the trimmings
Beer was great. Food was amazing.
A lovely place with genuinely nice people. I appreciated my brief stop at The Tally Ho, wandering as I was through the stunning area. Thank you to everyone, in particular to the lady who welcomed me; youll know who you are if I say I found the car I was looking for.
Lovely place, great staff and food
We decided to visit The Tally Ho today for the first time, we were very impressed by how careful they were regarding covid-19 but still showing good hospitality. The drinks and food were excellent as was the service. Definitely recommend this pub and will be returning.
Lovely food and very attentive staff
Garden menu disappointing for lunch. Main meals offered and no sandwiches or soup. Wont rush back.
Fabulous food and service as always!
