Ive been happy with Poway Bicycles service several times over the past few years, replacing chains and cassettes, tune-ups and cleaning, etc. But Im sooo over-the-top happy with two recent service experiences, that I have to write this review.First, the rear disc brakes on my road bike went out the day before I was leaving town for a bike ride in Big Bear. After countless YouTube videos and frustration I surrendered and went to Poway Bicycle. After hearing my sad story, the front-counter guy took a look and gave me some helpful pointers on brake adjustment. Didnt work. So back to Poway Bicycle. This time we got master mechanic Vinny on the case. I know theyre usually swamped with repair work, but Vinny took the bike and called me early the next morning to let me know I was going to make it to Big Bear (with brakes!).Second, I needed to mount an old seat to the seat post on my mountain bike but I was missing half of the clamp mechanism. After my previous happy experience, I headed straight to Poway Bicycle to see if anyone even sells such a thing. Short answer was no, not really. However, Vinny had a spare seat post in his stock of random bike parts on hand and we just swapped posts. Wow!Highly satisfied customer, 5-star review. BAM!

Matt made what has been a difficult year trying to get a new bike much easier. Immediately knew what size I was going to need and showed a selection of options with varying prices. Did not try and push the more expensive bike, instead took what I was looking to do into consideration before explaining why his suggestion would be best for me and responding to questions about the other choices with similar options and how it might change my experience.Couldnt be happier with my choice to stay local for a bike knowing that they will be there to help with any questions I might have.

Awesome crew! I tend to have small issues with my new bike and stress out about things. I bring it in, and theyre always quick to help, patient, and take the time to get me sorted out. I really appreciate having them available and do all the business I can with these guys. Theyre not just checking the box and getting a paycheck... they ride, they like talking riding, and they want to help you ride. Just yesterday, Nate got me sorted out before closing time with a wheel repair issue and the bike is riding well. Thanks guys!

Everyone here is so down to earth friendly 🙏🏽 Im a noob in the bike world, just put my bike together after I had it shipped to my house and needed to make sure it was fully tuned. Vinny in service went above and beyond - took his time to do a full check and adjust my derailleur PLUS he also volunteered some valuable info and answered all my questions.And just like that i found my go-to spot 🏆10/10 would recommend!

Worst bike shop in Poway. Will not take a walk in...will not make an appointment with customer...big boy (who clearly doesnt ride) just tells you go on third party website to schedule an appointment...this shop will be out of business soon...covid or no covid

They were very helpful when I brought in my bike for repairs. Even though I didnt have an appointment, they told me that they would be able to help me. They didnt know when my bike would ready, but would call me when it was finished.

I just got a bike there and everyone was super friendly and nice. Also you can bring any bike in and they will fix it up. Just overall great service and many options to choose from.

Unfortunate experience with the service department today, went in to get a flat tire fixed and was greeted with arrogance and unwillingness to help. Avoid this service department if possible... the gentleman I spoke with seemed unusually satisfied giving me the shove off. On the flip side the front retail staff was excellent and helpful. I’m new to the area and this was my first and will be my last experience at this shop.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BMX HERE!!!! They have zero knowledge of how to work on BMX bikes. I was waiting 2 hours to have them add a link to my chain.

I have only gone to this shop twice so far and this is a great shop with very friendly staff. I had a bike shop I used to go to years ago but unfortunately they closed.Now that Im riding again I am happy that not only is this shop close to my house the staff is friendly and knowledgeable as well. The first time I went in was to get 2 new tubes installed on my road bike and was happy with the fast service and price. Today I went in because I bought SPD pedals and spent way to much time trying to take my regular pedals off myself with many youtube videos watched trying to trouble shoot. I eventually called the shop and Elijah answered and said to bring it in and they will take care of me, So the next day I did and was greated by Vinnie who popped off the old pedals and installed with Elijah my SPDs FREE OF CHARGE!! Thank you Elijah and Vinnie because of the fantastic and friendly customer service this is now my go to bike shop and will also spread the word. Thanks again!

Poway Bicycle bled my brakes and the bike has never run better. The bike is 1 year old, and I dont even think they were this good when I first got the bike.I didnt notice 100% on the first ride because I had gone to a different trail, but when I went back to the trail that I ride a lot, I really noticed. I could break later and with more confidence. Immediate boost in my riding.Thanks guys!

This is one of the two bike shops in San Diego that I’ll go to when looking for advice. These guys take into consideration what you’re looking for and will take the time to look into configurations that I just don’t want to spend the time doing (recently, it’s been putting together a few options for my next wheel set)I’ve been to a few shops that just try to sell you the latest and greatest, and that’s not my style.

Update: I had a situation go down initially with an employee who was not only rude but combative with me after asking for an ETA on my bike. Very offensive question, I know. Now, usually those stories sound petty, and instead of getting into that more to prove its importance and how I was slighted; I rather focus on the business owner.After hearing my story, he apologized, then drove over to my house to pick up my bike, fix it, and return it. I told him that I would do my part and change my previous review at which he responded, I dont do this for the reviews but I appreciate that. This is my business and I take pride in our reputation. That spoke volumes louder then hiring a poor employee.

I reserved a bike online to ride while visiting from Pennsylvania. Tony set me up with a great bike and suggested local trails. He invited me to join the group ride that night as well. It was a really good experience and if Im lucky enough to be back in the area again these are the go to guys!

This is a fair review, so please read. I am an active bicylist - although not good enough with a wrench so I need to take the bikes in for service at a shop. Needed a simple tune-up and brake pads for my gfs bike. Now I understand that bike shops have been really busy recently given COVID, but terrible service work will put your family or yourself in danger. This shop is employing unqualified (read: very new) employees to work on your bike. The technician who serviced my brakes had no idea what they were doing. Extremely concerning and in this case, dangerous. Especially since it was my gfs bike and she never wouldve noticed this incorrect brake assembly until it was too late. The bike was in considerably worse condition after paying for an over $300 service. Please check any work they perform if you must go here. I did bring this to their attention and they corrected with an emergency fix before closing, but I wont be returning given this experience. I am giving 2 stars (as opposed to 1) for consideration of the current pandemic environment. Having said that, take your business elsewhere. There are better shops.

Tony has always been a great guy on my every visit and he is always willing to work with me advising on the best choices they have. In fact every employee at Poway bicycle are very helpful. Great attitude.

The guys there are super nice and professional, the owner even gave me a business discount since I told him I had a phone shop here in poway. Cool atmosphere, I think it was Tony who helped, he told me about few trails to go on around the area. Happy with the service.👌🚲

Great local bike shop, and the only one in Poway now. Ive gone in there for a number of small things and theyve always been very knowledgeable and fairly priced. Theyve earned my business. Great to have in the neighborhood!

Great customer service. I have seen them quickly help my friend with maintenance and they have helped me with whatever I have needed. They have given me helpful tips and instructions and offered to help me with maintenance issues that I was tackling if I had trouble. This kind of help will bring me back again and again. When I am ready for a new bike, I would be happy to try this bike shop because of this help.

So far, two visits and Im very happy with the service I received. Very prompt attention within a few seconds after walking in the store, each time. First visit was to get a shifting issue fixed. They put it on the stand immediately to diagnose and showed me the issue with the worn-out cassette and stretched chain. I had them price-match the chain, no issues. After looking at my bill when it was done, I noticed they were nice enough to price-match the cassette to a competitor as well, even though I hadnt asked. Second visit was to figure out why my chain was slipping off a jockey wheel on the rear derailleur. Again, they immediately threw it on the stand to diagnose and took it in the parking lot to reproduce the issue. A couple adjustments later and it was fixed for free, under 10 minutes. Thanks for the service!

This shop makes it the experience very personal. This is not your big box warehouse style shop although they have a great selection and are happy to special anything you might need. Overall experience was great. Very impressed considering this is such a new shop.

Ive been going here for months now, and they havent let me down once. Everyone is super nice, and their mechanic has done a phenomenal job on my bike each time. Plus, they have group rides, which are really fun to go on, and its helped me with my biking experience.

I like the place and I like the owner Luis. He is a true biker and very knowlagable about his bikes. He doesnt up sell and gives you exactly what you need. he is pleasant to do business with and he honers his service. I Highly recommend them.

Great prices and amazing customer service. Staff went out of their way recently to get my bike going again. Went in with a non-working shock and walked out 15 minutes later with it working great!Also, no need to to shop online for deals. These guys will price match any reputable internet retailer.Go in and experience it for yourself.

Everyone who works at Poway Bicycle shares the same passion of riding that we all have so they host mountain bike shop rides on Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. These rides are so much fun and I have not only improved as a rider, but I have made a lot of good friends as well. Thank you Poway Bicycle for being the best bike shop in San Diego.

Good group of people. I love the small shop feel. At first I found myself wanting to see more inventory but I understand they are growing and the owner said he can get me anything I need.I took a 29er tire in to get a new spoke and, while they had to order it, they made up for the extra time by making my cassette shiny and clean. I totally didnt expect that. I thought they gave me the wrong tire because it was so clean!The following week, I got an email invitation for a night MTB ride. I was a bit worried that it would be a bunch of snobs but a fairly small group of good guys showed up and we had a great ride. I would recommend getting on their email list, even if you dont need anything today. They have a few organized road rides and a Saturday morning ride that has 2 different groups for different levelsAs a Poway resident, I always try to shop Poway first and this gives me a great option to do so. Check them out.

We bought a bike from here about a month ago and we got a flat tire twice. We had also installed the liner. My son only rides his bike to school and back. The second time we went there we got the tire fixed and brought it home. We didnt even ride the bike. Then the next morning there was a flat tire again.

Drop my bike off for a regular tune-up. Took 4 days to get a status on what needs to be done on bike. Note I had to call them to ask after the bike was there for 3 days. They called me back and said they had to order parts and would be done in 5 days. 7 days went by and no follow up calls so I called them. I then found out they were still waiting on the parts and the bike was done being tune-up. Wow 2 weeks to get a regular tune-up done which was just new tires, pieces for my drop post and new back brake pads. Never again will they get my biz!

The guys working here were both very helpful and friendly. I made a small purchase and would come back again.

I moved from the Chicago area a year ago and I have been dreading finding anew bike shop, because my experiences with shop staffs always left me fuming. Since I am over 60, im apparently not considered a Serious Rider, and I was usually treated with condescension if not ignored completely. Poway Bicycle is different--a friendly small shop specializing in customer service.I was having trouble adjusting my front shifter, and instead of the Well, first you need a new cassette.. routine, the tech put it on the stand and adjusted it while I waited. Oh, and my original cassette is just fine!My new bike shop.
