My Wife and I tried ordering 2 garage doors in Mid July, we knew what we wanted and already had the price we just needed their salesperson to make up the contract. They procrastinated and waited until August 5th to make the contract resulting in price increase of $1300.00 they would not honor they price from when we said we were ready to order, so we went to a different company. If Ann is your sales person request someone else or go to a different company.

I called garage doors unlimited in poway because it had good reviews and 4.8 starts I called to buy a new garage door and motor they told me it would take 2 to 3 months for my door and motor to be installed took like 5 moths I thought ok well covid its taking a little longer then usual once it was time to get my garage door put in the installer tells me the person they sent out to measure the garage door opening measured wrong and the door would have to get cut to a smaller size and it would take another 3 weeks to be able to install it I needed my door installed so I had to sign and get my door installed off center over to one side more than the other side I will not recommend this place to anyone

Beware of Garage Doors Unlimited. Bad install and bracket broke after 13 months on expensive custom home. Courtney in customer service told me the warranty expired in 12 months and to go pound sand. Shop elsewhere.

Paid almost 3k October 2, 2020, and still waiting for my garage door. The company will only respond by email. They respond immediately, which gives me comfort. They say production has been late because of Covid but two of my neighbors ordered from Precision door service in early November and received their custom Amarr door before Christmas. Also, according to my neighbors Precision, only collects a deposit and the rest when the work is completed. Hopefully, my door will come soon and look great, I will repost An update when completed.

I would not recommend this company to anyone! I ordered a door in July; it was delivered in September after a long delay because of Covid-19. The door arrived but would not fit per the installer. The salesman who I contracted with took wrong measurements so door could not be installed. When the installer called him to let him know, salesman said - well, it wont fit so we will have to send another, he goes on to say that he will call me by the end of business day to let me know when new door would arrive and schedule this with me. No phone call, after two days waiting, I had to call him and leave a VM; basically, having to chase him to find out where the door is that I paid for! The second door took another 3 weeks. When the door arrives, it had windows, which I did not order because of HOA guidelines (which salesman knew) and was on the contract – no windows. The delivery / installer even knew it was wrong because first door did not have windows. When I called customer service about wrong door again, I was told that salesman spoke with me about windows and I said it was ok - FLAT OUT LIE!! NO ONE FROM GARAGE DOORS UNLIMITED EVER REACHED OUT TO ME ABOUT WINDOWS!! Customer service then sends a letter to my HOA manager stating that they were installing a wrong door with windows after speaking with the homeowner who informed them windows werent allowed and insinuating it was my fault. The letter goes on to blame the manufacturer for mislabeling the box (which they did the first door that was sent with incorrect measurements). The incorrect door was installed because I could not wait any longer for new door, the installer proceeds to install wrong motor and keypad. I ask him where the motor I ordered and he says “you didn’t order that one, this is the one you ordered” even though it was clear on my contract and paperwork that I had and showed to him. Another hour later, the new motor and keypads are installed (really?????) The worst part about this whole experience(s) is that the complete lack of common courtesy, communication and transparency. When wrong door is ordered with windows, no one calls me to let me know - instead, sends it with delivery / installer anyway and then blames the customer (me) for having to install the wrong door. My time and my energy is wasted (as I have to be home each time delivery; now I have to be home again to take out panel with window!), I have not faith that the new panel will come and when it does that it will be installed correctly. I am frustrated and angered that I have to deal with a negligent company who charges in advance for work that they will not deliver and HAVE OFFERED NOTHING in terms of reparation – what I got was a bunch of apologies and “sorry”.It is now December and I have received yet two additional calls to schedule the replacement panels and then re-schedule again because the company didn’t have installers to install.TRUST ME PEOPLE - USE ANY OTHER GARAGE COMPANY OUT THERE!!!!!

We were very pleased with with Dave, the technician who came to service our garage door. We had a two hour window in which to expect him, and he called a couple of hours early to say that he had an earlier opening and asked if we would like him to come on over. It worked out great for us, and we really appreciated it. Dave was very knowledgeable, explained the areas that were causing the problems, and what his solutions were. He completed the work in very reasonable time, and the price was very reasonable.We are very pleased with Garage Doors Unlimited, and the referral from Costco a little over two years ago. I highly recommend them!

Jake and Dave were our technicians, they were polite and friendly and everything went great! They diagnosed the problem, then came back and fixed it quicker than expected. The scheduling was a bit of a problem [we were out of town and needed to change, but couldnt.] However, THAT being dealt with, the first installer arrived within the timeframe window and the installation proceeded without a hitch. The installer, Brian, was personable, professional, and thorough in his work. He was later assisted by Jake. Their work was efficient, very neat, clean, and completed quickly. Jacob was the service tech who came out to change a couple of broken springs on my door. He installed the springs and checked all aspects of my door quickly and professionally. He not only fixed the springs, he spent time making sure the door was in proper alignment, well oiled and greased. Great customer service, would highly recommend.

Received a reminder call the day before the appointment. Jacob called at the beginning of my service window and said he would be there soon - and he was. He inspected all the brackets, rollers, springs, and the opener. He suggested a few things such as new rollers to make it quieter and a new bottom seal because the current one is getting a bit dry and brittle. But he didnt push the additions just made recommendations. Jacob explained everything and was very professional and pleasant. Serviced and greased the door in less than 30 min. Very pleased.

Out of warranty door completely inoperative. Your Technician, Jacob, showed up for my appointment right on time, asked me just a very few questions about the situation with my door and immediately went to work troubleshooting. He very quickly came to the conclusion that my wall switch may be defective, one that they had been having issues with. He installed a new one, said that his company would warrant the part and all I would pay was the $49 service call. He programmed my remotes to the new wall switch, offered much good advise on maintaining my door and departed. He was extremely knowledgeable and capable. Keep this one on the payroll. I am very happy with this service call.

Our garage door had to be special ordered because of its custom size, and the follow through regarding its status and delivery was outstanding. Sam did an exceptional job installing the door, cleaning up, and helping us keep the old door to be used for building a shed. Purchased our garage door many years ago and the springs broke. We found out original paper work and called Garage Doors Unlimited. Spring was broken and they did not have the right size spring. Jacob placed a temporary coupler on the spring,so we could open and close our door. They special ordered the spring and Jacob was back two days later to fix our door. Called Garage Door Unlimited for repair for our existing garage door. The door had broken down the night before and they sent someone over to repair it the very next morning, around 8am. I called for a spring replacement. Jacob was the technician working on the garage. Jacob corrected the issue and tuned up the entire garage. I really appreciated his professional recommendations on addition work needing to be done.

There are many proud owner/operator garage door companies who invest in customer satisfaction by keeping it simple. You can see them on the road in San Diego county all the time. And most of them have excellent reviews. They arent the biggest options out there but really dont need to be at the same time. These are your neighbors making a life for themselves. They have maybe 1 or 2 company vehicles and only a few employees at best. You often get a little lower price and a quicker install date. They wont always offer the difficult custom stuff but at least stick with what they do best. Offer garage door sales and service. Invest in the vehicle they use to show company pride, up keeping vehicle(s) for safety and in the transportation of your purchased product(s). Great recipe for success and your helping a local small business.Gdu, however, has too many products they offer and maybe even debt as one can see. From unsafe workspaces, vehicle upkeep, operational procedure, & general precautions abandoned. The owner may need to choose 1 or 2 products only to offer and focus on safety. Really start over with what worked 20yrs ago as the GDU heyday could have passed and appears to be in a little bit of trouble.5 star ratings wont keep the customers / employees safe or pay your bills..

My wife and I have had several good experiences with Garage Doors Unlimited in Poway, and the most recent (yesterday, June 7th) was no exception. Jacob, the repairman, was efficient, professional, informative, and friendly - and the result of his quick work is a new better working motor for our heavy old door. We wanted the door saved, because it adds to the exterior decor of our neighborhood.

The auto control of our two years old garage door stopped working a couple days ago. Jacob from the company stopped by practically the next day. He diagnosed the problem quickly and replaced the wall remote control panel which is still under warranty. He made sure all of our remote control devices worked properly. In addition he also took the time to lubricate all the rollers, hingers and rollers of the garage door. Jacob (Jake ) even called me when he was in route. He is a top-notch service person and I only wish everyone I had to call upon for a repair service could be as courteous and proficient. He explained the workings of the system and how the part he had cut and adjusted for my door is a stronger and better performing part than was used on the original door and is now recommended by the manufacturer. We have used GDU for years, I am a general contractor and we need the best quality and service for our retail customers. I always know we get the best doors, excellent service and a seamless install when I call GDU. We have had both Brian and Jan do installs at different projects, they are both very detail oriented and clean up after the job leaving no signs that they were there (except a beautiful door and install job). I highly recommend this company to anyone.

Jake came out to the house and gave our garage door a tune-up. We were having problems with the keypad and after changing the battery, found that it still wouldnt work. After examining the pad, Jake tried one of his batteries and it worked perfectly! Turns out the entire pack of 9 volts that we had were all out of date and dead as doornails. Jake was very friendly, accomodating, and professional. 5 stars!

So, I was at COSTCO the other day and there was this gentleman standing in front of a garage door display signing up people to get an estimate on garage door installations. He looked a bit lost or bored, and I had been thinking about a new door, so I inquired and signed up for an estimate visit. That went well and I paid my money and waited while my garage door was ordered, made and delivered. I scheduled a weekend installation and the guy shows up and dismantles my old door and installs the new in a matter of about 3 hours. I was impressed, not only by the time but that only one guy did it. I was wondering how one guy was going to take down and move the old wooden double garage door by himself. He did. If you want to find out how, order one. It was all good.

Found a promotional stand for GDU at COSTCO, where I was able to make the estimate appointment. After a no-compromise reasonable estimate was made and agreed to, payment was made through COSTCO and the installation proceeded well, even though the technician forgot to lubricate the garage door opener rail (it caused the door to fail to open during certain times of the day). However, GDU fixed the problem at a subsequent visit and everything works now as advertised

Jacob and Kimi arrived at the time they said they would. They were reasonably impressed with my dog, Maverick, a rough collie who looks like Lassie. And then they got to work. Jacob realized that the remote was the problem and counselled me on the appropriate action to take. He also performed a standard service of lubing the wheels and tracks. In other words he did what I asked of him and left me satisfied with his visit.In addition Kimi was shadowing Jacob today to get a better understanding of what the field techs go through. Her job was to share her finding with the companys office staff in order to design improvements in service to the customer through refinements in managing the field techs..Thanks Jacob and Kimi
