Rick was extremely helpful and willing to take time even on my questions relating to low price items! I learned a whole lot about guitar strings and guitar picks. It was a quick trip for these simple items but I plan to return to check out his instrument inventory. He has plenty of left handed set ups(guitar) in stock. Yes!The few. The proud. The southpaw.Definitely going to support this business for future needs!

Rick (the owner) is a professional in every sense of the word! His business is like walking into a mini-museum of cool and unique and vintage instruments, books, art work, and vinyl. His guitars are quality pieces that run the gamut from beginner to pro. I have been a musician for over 40 years and Rick is absolutely one of the best technicians I’ve come across...I’ve purchased 3 different guitars from his shop over the past year and I can’t wait to buy again! Please patronize the last of a kind operation!

Best guitar shop Ive ever been to! Fantastic customer service, went to several different shops looking for a first guitar. None of the other shops showed the same respect for a beginner artist.

This is the most professional guitar store that has ever been in Prescott. I’m talking about Prescott Music store on Goodwin St in the 1970s and every music store since. My Telecaster’s frets were buzzing like crazy, the neck was bowed and the intonation was screwed up as well. 30 minutes in Rick’s hands and it plays perfectly. As a guitarist who has played since “Are You Experienced” was released, I recommend Rick more highly than any guitar technician I have ever known.

Hands down the best place to go. I live down in the valley but every time we visit the area we stop by. If you need anything guitar related you have to go here. Every other store said my guitar was unplayable and impossible to fix. I bought it here and he made it play better than when it was new. The prices are just barely higher than places like guitar center but he does a free setup on every instrument that would cost about a hundred dollars anywhere else. The owner is very friendly and is happy to tell you everything you could possibly know about any instrument at the store. He is extremely good at what he does and has even made guitars for people like Alice Cooper and David Bowie. Just the perfect place to buy or look for an instrument. I will never take my guitars anywhere else.

I live in the valley where we have a few great guitar stores but Blue Note in Prescott is a rare gem. Rick the owner is a threat guy to talk to and very knowledgeable. He carries Gibson, Fender, Gretchen, Epiphone, Harley Benton, Ibanez, and a boat load of other guitars you won’t see a Guitar Center. If your a beginner to professional this shop has something for everyone. This is one of the nicest music stores I’ve ever been in. There are a lot bigger stores but none nicer. If your in Prescott and love guitar your missing out if you don’t visit this place.

Rick the owner sure knows his stuff, he said he’s been in business for over 40 years, not specifically in Prescott at this location but overtime. He has an amazing selection of guitars. From the very novice and beginner guitars to the most pristine vintage guitars. Really nice little place, highly Recommend popping in here, definitely one of my favorite professional music stores in Prescott hands down. He’s a really nice guy and great to talk too. I also recommend John’s corner music shop it’s technically more of a thrift store music pawnshop but he’s a really nice guy too!

The Prescott area recently lost one of the best loved, iconic and well established music stores, (Pops). Although there are a couple of smaller boutique type guitar stores in the area there just wasnt anyone large enough and with a wide enough selection of in stock music supplies to fill the big empty shoes that Pops left behind.I had resigned myself to having to make excursions into the heat of Phoenix to fill all of my musical needs when I accidentally stumbled across The Blue Note in Prescotts Gateway Mall. I was amazed at the selection and when I talked to Rick, (the owner), I not only found him to be quite knowledgeable but was also impressed by his commitment to good customer service. On a couple of occasions I found myself in need of items that I couldnt get anywhere else or quickly enough and not only did Rick have them, but his price point was very competitive and even on one occasion, (When I needed something right away that would have taken too long to have shipped to me), he emptied out one of his store displays so that I could have the hard to find item right then and there. Now, THAT, is good customer service! I mentioned Ricks competitive price point. We guitarists have a reputation for being cheapskates and when I found a guitar in his store that I had previously considered buying online but couldnt justify the expense, I found that his price for the same guitar was $50, cheaper than the best deal I could find anywhere else, (including used). In addition, Rick personally and professionally set up the guitar, (A $100. + value), and refused to charge me for it, (even though I would have gladly paid). He told me that he would not let a guitar out of his store that wasnt professionally gone over, set up and ready to play at a gig.One of the things that made Pops attractive was their Sense of and involvement in the local Music Community, (Something you dont see every day). Rick didnt hesitate to Jump In and help with sponsoring some local music events that might not have happened without his involvement. In short, I got the feeling that for Rick its not just about making a quick buck. Whether he intends it or not, to me, that is shrewd business sense. Our town is just small enough that it makes it hard for some businesses to survive. I think Rick has the right idea and I hope hes going to be around for a long, long while. We need businesses with business models, and a sense of community like his.
