UPDATE:* Upped from 1 to 2 stars* Updates noted below with three stars* Original review submitted June 2021* Updated October 2021* Ill continue to update and increase stars if the improvement seems consistentThe sushi here is outstanding, easily 5 stars for the value. Everything else went from acceptable from before the pandemic to horrible post pandemic. I and my friends used to frequent Masa all the time before the pandemic and are very disappointed by the current condition. This experience below is based on two recent visits.New Order System* They implemented a new E ordering option from the table but its pretty convoluted* It absolutely requires some explanation your first go round on it which I noticed they don’t do when it’s busy* You are paying and deciding tip ahead of time which feels bizarre* You only use this on your first order, subsequent orders need to be given verbally so you don’t get double billed* The system errored out on me and told me to check with the server to see if I got billed* They need to retool this so you don’t pay up front and can use it for all orders, not just the first. This would reduce burden on the servers and confusion with patrons.Staffing* This is probably the weakest part of the entire setup* They have usually up to 3 staff members running around between the front register, take out menu, taking orders, serving drinks and food. For all I know they disappear into the kitchen to help too!* They desperately need more headcount work with dedicated roles. Someone should be at the front at all times as there always people waiting, picking up orders, having questions / issues, meanwhile the person that should be at the register has to wipe down tables or get food, etc. As busy as this place is they need a manager on the floor coordinating / pointing out tables that have been waiting awhile for something etc* The sushi chefs themselves seem to be able to keep up with the demand* I can’t help but feel that ownership is being cheap about staff, though this will hurt their business in the long run* The staff themselves are trying their bestOther* They use paper plates and cups. It feels just bizarre. I’m guessing this is to save on a dish washer head count.* Given wait times are grossly underestimated, adding to frustration levels* Items from our orders are always missing something and leave you in a state of limbo wondering if it’s delayed or lost ***Update: This has been a better experience when there at less busy times* Had to ask multiple times for drinks, soy sauce and missing food ***Update: This has been a better experience when there at less busy times* Employees take subsequent orders by memory or write it on their arm… They should have pads or paper menus on them. Or enhance the E system to handle additional orders ***Update: This has been a better experience when there at less busy times* A portion of the restaurant had seating converted for takeout prep space during the pandemic and seems wasteful now (I did not see it in use) ***Update: This has been converted back to a normal dining area againI really hope ownership is looking at this and other reviews because it seems like it could be so easy to turn this place around.

Food was good but the service was terrible. About 6 things I ordered were never made, when I asked about them the staff got mad at me. When I asked about missing appetizers the waitress started to take away my sushi. The table next to me was also missing appetizers and had to ask for them.

My girlfriend and I visited Masa last week for the first time. Besides a 90 minute wait to get in, everything was outstanding. The host was extremely friendly and offered us his suggestions (a lemon based roll with wasabi tobiko) and told us a little about the establishment. Our server was also extremely kind.We sat at the sushi bar and it was fun to watch them make everything quickly and uniformly. We even chatted with one chef because they had some down time at the end of the night. If you’re in the area or traveling nearby, we highly recommend you stop in. Just make sure you have a reservation because this place gets packed and people obviously take their time because it’s all you can eat. I can’t wait to go back and try their other rolls.

While I am so glad Masa sushi is open for indoor dining... I probably wont be going back in doors. Why? I didnt like feeling like I was eating at at college party or cookout. Paper plates... Plastic ware that wasnt in a take away pack... I understand covid is still a concern. I understand cutting cost. However, for the price I rather pick my items up and eat them at home on my dishes and remember how Masa sushi dining use to be.They are also beta testing a new ordering system.... Similar to how you order take out. You scan a barcode, enter your table number, and submit your order. You pay for your order and then they will bring your food out. I had a few items (including items I paid extra for) never come out. Which was disappointing but the new ordering system is a week old and has some kinks in it.I dont know if this made sense... I hope it did.

Seats and water was good, but not my kind of place. The environment was loud, the service was okay and the food was above okay and served on paper plates. Since going out to dinner is a dining experience we need to look at our entire dining experience. I felt I was eating food truck food in a nice restaurant. I think the décor gave it an extra plus above food truck. The menu is online, ordered online and paid online like take out food. Not so good if you dont have a smart phone or dont have your bifocals with you. My daughter likes the place because they have all you can eat sushi. My husband and I dont eat sushi and would preferred a restaurant that took our order, so we could at least have the menu items explain to us. This place was not my cup of tea.

Very weird service, they make you order through your phone and both pay and tip before you even get your food. You have to input your card information manually online. All of the plates, cups and utensils are plastic/paper. The food was good, but just is a very strange experience.

Yes, masa is using paper plates, which is a much more sanitary option. Although I hope they switch back to normal dishware eventually, you go to a resturaunt for their food... not their fancy dishes.Their sushi is always fresh and extremely delicious. Even when the place is packed, they still get huge orders to your table in a reasonable amount of time.Out of all the places that Ive ordered sushi (and trust me, Ive experienced a lot, sushi is my favorite food) this place is the best.

Besides the customer service being less than acceptable, I’d say that this place has just about nothing but a nice ambiance and weird pop remixes to distract its customers from the mid sushi and probably the most horrendous excuse for a hibachi meal that I have ever witnessed. If you and your family are hungry and thinking about coming here, I’d recommend just going to Burger King, you’ll leave more satisfied.

The sushi here is OK to me. I think my bucks are pretty worth of it. They serve your order pretty fast. And they do follow the quantity of your order. Kitchen orders were pretty good . Waitresses served promptly and friendly. There were something worth mentioning... The order form has lunch & dinner together. They were distinguished by an asteroid at the beginning of the item. Rough. We went to enjoy some sushi and a nice evening and it turned into a confusion night of chaotic restaurant frustration. We sat down at 7:10 and used the contactless order system (cool and exciting at first) and after we ordered we waited 45 minutes for our drinks to be brought the table after having to ask someone for it. It took another 30 minutes to even get our order (again after asking for it). On top of that we only got part of our order, some of the order came out wrong, and I received a roll I never even ordered. Everytime we needed to ask for something it literally took 6 tries of waving someone down or getting up and getting them ourselves to even have any type of service. We even watched 4 other tables receive their entire meal before we ever got our drinks or any part of our meal. We understand there are short staffing issues but there is absolutely no reason for anyone to wait nearly 2 hours to be served and finish their meal. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my life.

Vitalik Buterin created the ethereum network when he was in high school whilst these people cant create a menu, at all.Sushi was okay the first round but the 2nd was atrocious. They were rushing people out the door with bad food because they closed soon and due to it being over populated it took an hour for our first round to arrive.Male wait staff were ditzy, forgetful and didnt understand the online ordering any more than the customers.Tons of other all you can eat places in the area.

This is a solid choice for AYCE sushi. Our favorite is still the Kingston Sushi Palace for AYCE. I was really looking forward to trying this place because I’ve always heard it was great. The food wasn’t bad but the service was terrible. The way my girlfriend and I were neglected will be why I’m never coming back. The system they have to pay there is really not fair. Paying before getting served an all you can eat sushi meal for 2, then having the server stall on ordering more and forgetting to put orders in. I walked out and was very dissatisfied. To get my empty plate taken away from the table took 5 minutes, and to ask for some napkin took me 5 minutes as well (They aren’t frequently visiting tables as fast as other restaurants like sushi palace for example)The first thing I order was a shrimp tempura, I was disappointed when it arrived to me cold. However, the staff member did fix it.The second thing I ordered were hand rolls, I felt I was eating more rice than anything at all. However for other things that you’d want the portion to be small (It’s huge) Like the soups, which I couldn’t even finish 1/2 of. Its probably the most common thing that gets wasted. I think it would just more enjoyable if the portion was smaller.Food and service was a big let down for me, I won’t be here again honestly. What can I say? My student recommended this place highly so we drove 45 minutes just to try it. On that particular evening, because of two huge parties before some of us, we waited more than an hour before we got seated. Food was similar to many all you can order places like Sushi Palace and Sushi King. However, some items never came. It was too late,we didnt bother. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient. Manager even gave us 10% off because of the wait. Suggestions: have ba system for seating, give customers a buzzer or number. Ask big parties to get up once they ask for the bill. I witnessed the process of figuring out their bills and methods of payment was almost half an hour or more. Or you should limit maybe just two or three splits. When items of food arrive, have a system of checking off. Well, if Im in the area, I might still give it another try.
