These guys are chill and ended up less expensive than I thought. Called out things they thought should also be fixed, but didnt bat an eye when I said no to some of them. They are the kind of team you want to be taking care of your vehicle.

They were gonna fix a switch of my left window and they charged me wit $300 and I found the same switch for $70. The switch it’s even attached right . After that they let my battery die and I had to wait for them to use jumper cables, they had me waiting there for at least 20 min when they told me that they were gonna jump my car right away (btw it was raining)

I have taken my cars here for a few years and theyve always done a great job! Its a bit more expensive than jiffy lube but you pay for experience and its worth the extra to me!

I have been going to this place for years. But Ive been pretty unhappy with them recently. After today Im done.Had my radiator done there.Less then a week later the top hose to the radiator busted and all the fluid came out. Luckly i was parked at home. I took it back in and they charged me full price to fix it with out even calling me to tell me what the issue was first and checking the price with me. Which they have always done. I would have done it myself for what they charged. I also would think they would garuntee their work better then that. Obviously loyalty doesnt mean anything to them either.

Brought a vintage wheel in to get the tire replaced on it. During the fix the center wheel emblem was knocked out and cracked. They put it back in and told me about it, but didn’t offer to replace the $48 part. Why weren’t they more careful with a vintage wheel? If I ran a business like this I would do the honest thing and offer to replace what was broken. Rather disappointed.

Lyle has always treated us well. I trust him (rare for me, I always think mechanics are trying to pick my pocket) and feel like he always gives us a fair price and does the work right. Weve brought all our cars here from our rusty little starter car when we were first married now through our current one for nearly a decade, and he and his team have handled everything from registration to an engine replacement.

Cory and Lyle may not have the very best bedside manners in the world, but I trust them with my vehicle for sure. Theyve always found ways to make things cheaper for me, given us good service, and all around made our car maintenence pleasant. I would recommend them to anyone, any time, anywhere. I needed a new auto mechanic in the downtown provo area. The local collision repair shops had recommended Brereton Auto in Provo. I needed an upgraded Tie Rod and Drag Link installed which I already had in possession. I stopped in at 8am without an appointment and they were able to get me in and get the work done same day. I did have some other suspension issues that came up during the replacement such as my wheel bearings which were shot on my 177k miles truck. Brereton was able to take care of all the work and get a great alignment done. I had also been dealing with an oil leak and feared to worst on this repair. Brereton advised it may have only been the oil filler cap was broken and needed to be replaced and said to simply monitor for any leaks after a new cap was put on. Overall the cost of all repairs was not the cheapest, but I can see the the work that was done was done right and my truck drives and steers like new. I wouldnt hesitate to have Brereton do work on my vehicles again when its something above my mechanical abilities

The best auto repair customer service Ive had and a very clean and comfortable waitin area. Went above and beyond to get my ac working so we could get back to the east coast on time and in comfort. Offered to drive me and my two kids to a park while we waited. They went to pick up parts after hours, explained what was going on the whole time.

They have always been honest and priced fairly, if not below other quotes. I have used them for simple maintenance and major repairs for the past 9 years. All of the work theyve done has been great.

The owners are good guys, and have always been honest with me. The problem is the mechanics that actually work on the cars. I had a power steering pump go out. The morning after picking the car up my garage floor had a big puddle of power steering fluid under the car. I had to take the car back and have them replace a broken hose. Then a month later the power steering pump pulley FELL OFF. I was unwilling to go back to them yet again, so I took my car somewhere else. I was told that the pulley fell off simply because the bolt wasnt tightened well when the pump was replaced. Its costing me $220 to get the pulley replaced, $70 for a rental car, and would have been $600+ to get towed from where the car broke down, but my insurance covered that.This was the second time Ive had problems come up as a result of taking my car to them. First time could be a fluke, but after it happened again I wont go back.Bottom line, they have good prices and deal with you honestly, but the mechanics are either too rushed or incompetent to do quality work.

I didnt get to meet Cory, but i was able to do business with Lyle, I was absolutely impressed with the way he handled my car problems. I didnt have an appointment and they got me in and out in the same day. I feel like the owners are good men and I know compared to other shops they give a great deal. I will be using Brereton Automotive for all future car issues.

For the life of your car, dont go to breretons!! We have now gone without a car for over a week because brereton auto keeps fixing the wrong problems then giving us our car back and it breaks down again the same day. Whats worse is you can make an appointment, they say itll only take 3 hours and 48 hours later, the only thing they have done is change your car battery and reset the alignment which takes less than 2 hours to do. Bad service, terrible communication. Please save your time and money and go somewhere else.

Theres no such thing as a perfect spouse, child, or auto mechanic. These guys arent perfect, but they are very, very good. I have a large family, lots of young adult drivers, and a large fleet of previously owned vehicles that need service--beats car payments. Breretons could have charged me again and again for stuff I dont need but could have been scared into buying (which Ive experienced with other mechanics), or done something that I would have had no idea if it was really needed or not, but the awful noise under the car would have made think I needed it anyway. Breretons isnt like that. They do only what needs to be done, charge a fair price for it, and are pretty easy to deal with, in a tough service business environment--fixing cars. The one brother, Cory, is especially enthusiastic about tires/rims and does a good job--can locate even hard-to-find types (like performance tires with 26 rims on a conversion van).Ive been taking all of my cars to them for 11 years, and I drive past 5 other auto service places to get there. Theyve earned my trust and my business. The only criticism I have is that sometimes the right hand doesnt know what the left hand is doing--coordination of service and communication between the brothers, plus I would like a phone call as soon as the car is ready (I dont get that sometimes). But those comments are overall on the margin. I think credit should be given where credit is due and these guys are excellent auto mechanics.

Best in the valley by far. I am in the automotive business and I know most of the shops in Utah County. Cory and Lyle Brereton know more about tires than anyone. I drive here and ride the Frontrunner back to work because they are the best and the most reasonable. Dont listen to the negative folks. They would probably complain about a free hamburger.

Went here two years ago to get my tires replace. I thought they were awesome at the time because they undercut discount tires price with free rotations. One month when I went in to have my tires rotated and my oil changed we sat there for two hours or more for those but then he comes out telling me they broke a nut and that it needed replaced. Then they charged me for it on top of everything else. I wouldnt recommend them because of this.

I have college students in town and I am a few states away. If one of the kids cars has a problem I have always been dealt with fair and square by Cory and Lyle there. Fair prices and never charged for work that does not really need to be done. It is rare to find a mechanic you feel you can trust without question, I think these guys are just that though.

They got my alignment AND a free electrical check done in half an hour, having walked in with no appointment! Great price, great service. A+

I didnt mind this place until after getting service done they went ahead and did a couple more things to my vehicle without even telling me about it until it was done and they were giving me the break down of my bill. That is COMPLETELY DISHONEST AND STEALING!!! I will NEVER step foot in this location again because of what they did. Every other place Ive been to have ALWAYS asked if I want something done before they do it.

I first went to Breretons to get my emissions check. Although most places cost about the same, they are very close to where I live. A few months later we were getting ready to drive 1400 miles and my check engine light was on. The morning we were leaving, I called up Breretons and they hooked it up within the hour to check out the light and clear the code (it was just a loose gas cap problem) at no charge. The Mazda dealer was going to charge me just to bring it in!I have brought in both of my cars for minor work since then and find their prices to be very reasonable. They have never charged me more than their quoted price, and I have found their quotes to be on par if not slightly cheaper than other places. There is nothing fancy about the shop, and its a little harder to find since it isnt right on a main road. Overall, they are honest mechanics who do great work at a good price and I highly recommend them.

The told us that they have the same tire in stock after I told them my exact model and size. We went there and had them do the work then when it comes time to pay we find out that it was a different tire. But they did do it after hours for us.

I’ve been a customer for all of my young driving life and have always had a good experience here. I’m reviewing today because of my most recent visit. My 2002 Accord’s power window motor went out. Super frustrating but it’s an old car and it happens. I called Ken Garff Honda first to see what the cost would be. They told me that for the part and labor they would be at $816. The technician then told me that the majority of the cost was the part they needed to replace it.I called Lyle at Brereton’s and he told me that out the door I would be at $200 give or take a few bucks. After bringing the car in and having him take care of it I told him about my talk with Ken Garff and he laughed and told me that I could buy the part from them directly for $80 if I wanted too.They are a family owned business and are truly the last of the little guys. I will be a lifetime customer at Brereton Automotive.

The men in the shop are very rude. The only one with a smile is the LADY. I only come here because my boss asks me to, I’m working on him to go somewhere else. They tried to fix one of our trucks and about 600.00 later said it was done when I drove away, Not fixed went to Edwards Family Auto it was a fuse and they never charged. Edwards Family Auto is the most honest place I’ve ever found. These people are rude rude rude. Oh and this place tells me I need to take it somewhere else when I call them out on their mistakes.

This was the worst customer service I have ever had. I wasted my entire lunch hour and still did not get the work done on my car that I asked for.I called and scheduled an appointment for a wheel alignment. I was told that it would take about 45 minutes for the alignment to be done. I arrived 7 minutes before my scheduled appointment. I patiently waited for an hour and a half. During this time no one talked to me or updated me on the progress. After waiting an hour and half (twice as long as the estimated 45 minutes). I went to the counter to find that they still had not worked on my car. And that it would be an additional 35 minutes. I was already 30 minutes late getting back to work, there I had to leave without anything being done to my car. I have now lost time and money being out of work, the wheel alignment still is not done. They could have at least had the decency to tell me that it would take longer than said and given me the option to reschedule. Instead I am out and out.

Im going out of my way to write this review of my excellent first experience with Breretons auto repair in Provo. I rim pinched both passenger side tires going through the roundabout that morning right off of freedom blvd and the Provo tracks. ( embarrassing!) Anyways, Breretons was the closest shop so I gave them a call. Cory was extremely patient and polite with me on the phone. He came out right as I arrived -- I let him know that I was needed all over town today so it was pretty important that I have my car. He diagnosed how serious my two flat tires were, ordered the tires from down the street, had them delivered asap and got them all switched out and me on my way in under an hour! Everyone in the shop was so helpful and polite. I was quoted a fair price for the repair and it came out to be $50 under the estimate. I couldnt believe I was able to make it on time to my 11am appointment without having to call an Uber. I booked my routine oil change with them just because they were that awesome. Thanks guys!

I bought a car from a dealership down the road. I took it back the next day because of a chirp in the breaks. The guy who sold it to me was good enough to cover the expense to get it fixed as long as I used his mechanic, Brerenton Auto. Of course I agreed.Even though I would not have gone there otherwise, Brerenton was alright. I was disappointed in them because I had to go back twice to get the problem fixed but eventually they figured it out.I do have to say that I waited a lot longer than I feel like I should have. 2 hours the first time and about 3 hours the second time. Google has their hours from 7:30am to 6pm. This is not correct. I was there at 7:25 to be the first to get worked on since I didnt have an appointment. I waited until 8:15 until anybody showed up 8:30 before the started working on the 8am appointment. The hours posted on their door says 8am opening.If youre going to have them work on your car just drop it off. And make an appointment. And hope they can fix your problem the first time. No idea what their pricing is like.UPDATE after two weeks the chirp was back. Im going to take it somewhere else in hopes to find someone willing/able to fix it.

It took me awhile to find a mechanic that had my best interest in mind. Now that I found Brereton, I wont take my vehicles anywhere else.

Two stars because he did the work I expected at an awesome price but instead of charging me with dollars he charged me with time. I called 24 hours in advance and set an appointment and dropped off both my wife and Is Toyotas. He told me at 10 AM he would have them back to me and Id be on the road by at the latest 11:30 am. Im sitting in the parking lot with nothing more than a sorry it took so long at 3:30 PM writing this review. Sorry Brereton I had more things in mind today other than just a simple alignment. If youre looking for cheap service this is your place. If youre looking for timely service this is not your place. :(

Great prices and honest people.

Extremely unsatisfied with the service that I received. Was left with out my car for two and a half weeks due to a lack of ordering the parts on time, then a part delay, then a lack of knowledge on how to install the part. When I finally got my car back it was a mess inside. The dip stick was left in the passenger door and the whole car just looked torn apart. When I drove away I also noticed that my blinkers werent working which were working before I brought the car in. I took it back to them and had to wait till the next day to get those fixed and when they called me back they said they wouldnt charge me for fixing the lights but added another cost of 100$ that they had forgot to charge me the previous day. Terrible experience. Not my first time working with this mechanic but it will definitely be my last.

I took my car in to Breretons because they quoted me a lot lower than at my regular mechanic shop but they charged me more than was agreed and they didnt even call to notify me. On top of that my car made a horrible loud noise after they worked on it, I took it back and they kept it for two days! I finally went to get my car and as soon as I turned it on the check engine light came on. Thats not even the worst part, they charged me an additional $38. The customer service was horrible, they are now keeping my car for another day and were so rude about it!

A total RIP-OFF. I have been there twice and both times i left with a very bitter taste in my mouth. They pay $100 for an hour of labor with tax. Customer service is a total c..p, you are just one to skin you off, they do extra work that you did not ask for. Here are the details:I have an infiniti i35 2002. In 2015 April, the original alternator broke down in Provo. Our regular car mechanic was not in town the whole week so I got a referral at byu to go to 500 west on freedom boulevard so I had the car towed there where they had checked it and said that the alternator is broke and needs replacement. they quoted me 500 bucks all in all. I was like, wow, that is hefty so i started searching for different mechanic right there to get the car fixed since our family has one only. I found the breretons and I asked a friend about them he said they been there long. So I called them up and told them that the alternator is bad and ask for a quote. He first asked me how much they offered me and me stupid told him the 500 bucks offer upon which he said we´ll do it cheaper for you. So I asked him how much is the alternator from them and I heard 138 dollar on the phone. Well I was relieved and drove the car there with the recharged battery. I do not remember how long was the car there but it is not relevant for my story now. 2 hours later he calls me stating that it is the battery that is bad so he replaces it for me and he´ll call me back and I take the car. He calls me back like an hour later and says, oh it is in fact the alternator so he´ll replace that. I was like fine, i counted with that in the beginning. He calls me a few hours later and the car is done I can go pick it up. I go in and face the bill 545 dollar and I ask him what this is he says we got you a new battery all state, really good, the alternator and we also did oil change and fluid level changes, all without asking for my permission. So I asked him about the alternator´s price and he said it was $238 not $138, oh I see you just muffle the first digit right? He reassured me and my wife that it is a really good one. Yeah, so where is my old battery and why did you charge me for things i was not in need of? BTW, he used oil from our trunks gallon for that. but you´ll see the receipt in the attachment. he was trying to convince me that I got a really good deal on all things for just $545. I ended up paying more for this whole excursion trip to them than I would have before for a part change. Of course he did not put back my old battery that functioned perfect though was used.Second part, again in Provo last Friday evening driving to Provo theater and we smell really bad through the HVAC. I thought it came from outside but after driving home the battery and brake lights came on and I knew that was the alternator. I was so pissed because we were there 21 month ago to have the same fixed but I checked the bill and it said it had limited lifetime warranty so I thought I was not gonna cost me a dime. Today, I brought the car back to them telling what had happened giving them the receipt and they said it will be done in the afternoon. We go back and he asks me cash or card? I was like what? For warrantied parts or what? He said for labor. I replied, why, when you performed work for a warrantied part that prematurely went bad? Why should I pay for it? He said, no warranty on the labor just on the part, labor warranty does not extend beyond 6 month. So I asked him if it is broke again in 7 month I keep paying 200 buck for 1.8 hour labor? He said it is everywhere so. We tried to talk some sense to him but no avail while he kept repeating himself that they treat customers fairly and they have been very good to them. I just dropped the line that I am gonna leave a review about them. he asked me if good or bad. I said not good. He got upset, offensive and red faced and said then I am gonna take off the discount I gave you (10 dollar) let me not tell you what I did not almost do. So we came home with a remanufactured alternator who knows when it brakes down again.

Another shop told me that repairs were going to cost more than 900 and they did it for 400. They have consistently done good work for me at a good price.

Called to get an inspection on my truck was told 5 days out, when I said can I get it any sooner, was told go find someone else to do it rudely! Who as a commercial driver can take a week off for a 20 minute inspection? And wants to be treated like dirt trying to use a local business to do it? Not me!!!

They said the strange noise from my car was a wheel bearing, charged $500 to change it. Didnt stop the noise or solve the problem, very hesitant to help out after I complained about the continued noise. Another shop found the problem to be a bent rim, fixed in minutes. I wont be back.
