We solicited a few bids for an awning for our home in Utah and were impressed with the timeliness and thoroughness of the estimate from SunSational Home Improvement. After going through all our options with the proposed awning we signed some papers and a few weeks later, right on schedule, they called to schedule a day (the next day was available) to get things installed. The workers arrived around 10:00 MDT, were done a few hours later, and the awning has been great for the last week as we have enjoyed the shade all day long. The people who did the work were friendly and answered questions we had about things we wanted to do with the awning (e.g. hang a plant, or lights). The next time we need something like this done well be calling these guys first.
Quality product at a very competitive price. The salesman (Keith) was very professional and not pushy. The install team (Jason) was so great to work with! It took longer than we expected to get product in, but we felt that wasnt the companys fault. We are super-pleased with the final product. We live in a windy area and were worried about the aluminum being noisy, but it has not been an issue at all. We had 2 awnings done and they are quality built and make our outdoor area so much more usable. All of their recommendations proved to be great decisions, including color. would definitely recommend.
We were super happy with our experience from start to finish! Keith gave the estimate and helped us decide on the perfect awning! He was super personable and knowledgeable. The colors he suggested fit the house perfectly! Jason, who was in charge of installation, did a fantastic job and was great about keeping up on communication throughout the process. We absolutely LOVE our awning! Thank you Sunsational for making this a great experience and delivering a great quality product! Would definitely recommend this company and would use them again in the future! Thank you :)
I had a deck and patio cover installed. We are delighted with the overall quality of the work done. It is beautiful. The Fiberon floor appears to be great quality and is very attractive. We love the wrought iron railing around the deck, the pillars, and the beautiful and very functional motorized pergola cover that allows us to close it off during rain, and adjust it for the desired amount of shade or sun we want at other times. It seems very structurally secure. It was quite expensive, but we consider it a functional extension of our home and are sure it will see a great deal of use. We were very disappointed in the metal window well covers that were installed over the two window wells involved. They are not sturdy as I had hoped and walking across them makes you feel unsteady. I’m afraid they may soon sag under the weight of people walking across them. The covers definitely don’t fit the quality of the rest of the patio. The project took longer than had been planned, but this was partially due to a slow-down in arrival of some materials because of Covid19 shutdowns. I would have given a 5-star rating if the window well covers had matches the quality of the rest of the project. As mentioned, the project was hugely expensive, but the covers didn’t measure up.
Everything looks great. Installers were very personable and did a great job. It goes very well with the house.
We felt like Sensational Home Improvements did a wonderful job with our awning. Steve Brewer was excellent to work with. He spent extra time helping us get the proper building permits Steve was also very accommodating working with the contractor we chose to do the concrete work. The install was quick and efficient. The crew that installed the awning were very neat and tidy. When they left things were very clean. We are very pleased.
SunSational just finished an awning at our home and they did an amazing job. We are extremely pleased and happy. When Steve came out to measure and give us a bid he was very helpful in suggesting ideas and options for us. We felt very good about hiring SunSational after talking with Steve. The installer ( Keith) came out a day ahead of schedule which we were very happy about and excited to use our patio. Keith was very professional and did a great job. The awning was installed perfectly. He even cleaned up after himself. I cant say enough good about SunSational. I would absolutely recommend them and would definitely use them again.
Turned out great. Loving the covered Patio.
I am so happy with my deck the guys worked hard and did excellent work and my backyard is beautiful now thank you!!!!
VERY !! happy with this group of people. Keith was so informative and picked up on 3 items none of the other bidders did. Triple checked every measurement and every detail about color and each of my personal touches I wanted. Jason the installer was great. Hes concerned about every little detail, hes been doing this for 20 plus years and did an awesome job. Could have gone home at quitting time but he stayed several more hours to finish the job instead of a return trip. They were not at all the lowest bid .... and If thats what your concerned about you should rethink your project. Thank you guys for a perfect patio cover.
Thank you Sunsational for our beautiful new porch!!! We couldnt image how our small yet complicated job would turn out! But your confidence, council, and skills put more then we hoped into reality! The company has great people to work with and a very quality job for a reasonable price! My kids couldnt get enough of the work being done and Colby and James were always considerate and productive and did so well working with all of us! Jason has some mad skills! He was quick, thorough, kind and professional! And Keith is a gem in the company! Its rare to find someone to work with from the first day to the last, through concerns and new ideas, and to feel like the company has your back through every detail. We are more then thrilled with what has come of our home! We couldnt be more pleased! THANKS SUNSATIONAL! We will be contacting you again soon for our next projects!
We are happy overall with our new deck. It looks nice and is sturdy. The only downside was that it took longer than was originally stated. But, now it is done and we are enjoying it!
Melanie and Steve are fantastic! I was in desperate need for some improvements on my home and they came though and helped me out in a big way! The cost was very reasonable and the work their installers did was top notch and professional and they cleaned up when the job was done. I would recommend them to all my friends!
We are very happy with our patio cover. Steve Brewer was our sales agent & worked out a plan that would fit in our budget. The delivery & install was on time. Also the installation crew worked well together & really knew what they were doing. Upon completion they cleaned up better than before they came. My patio was installed approx 6 months ago & survived the heavy Utah snow/wind storms with out any issues. I would recommend Sunsational Home Improvement for patio covers.
Sunsational Awnings helped design and build a patio cover for my home that I absolutely love. I was impressed with their professional demeanor and speed to execution. I researched many other companies and none had the ability to match my wants with an available product. Sunsational Awnings ability to custom design a product made all the difference. Others said they could but when they came to look they only suggested I change my idea. When the price beat the others standard products I was that much more appreciative. I would highly recommend Steve and his team to anyone looking for a patio cover.
Keith was awesome to work with and was great at accommodating to our plans which changed at the last minute. The install team was nice, efficient and did a great job. We love our awning from Sunsational Home Improvement!
SunSational did a great job creating a custom sun shade on the side of our existing deck. They made it fit perfectly! It has made our deck so much more usable and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend them to anyone!
Called several times and left messages with no contact back. Made another call and was told they would be out to fix the rain gutter that doesn’t drain and put on incorrect and not even close to level. I would not recommend
We got the patio cover from sensational home improvement. Everything is great and Keith is very helpful. Highly recommended.
Fantastic service! Professionally installed, great pricing, very clean process. Super study awning. Extremely happy with everything!
Do not under any circumstance hire these people. Hire Awnings Unlimited or someone else. There wouldnt be enough room to explain the nightmare these people are. They are way in over their heads and have no idea how to run a business. Steve is a nice guy but like I said, in over his head and Ill reserve comment on Melanie as it wouldnt be appropriate. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE!
Not sure what happened in some of the bad reviews on here, but they were a pleasure to work with! I had a few dealings with Melanie who was absolutely wonderful, and I would recommend them to anyone!
Best money I ever spent on my home the installer was highly professional and extremely knowledgeable fast and efficient.would recommend this company to everyone.
We had Sunsational repair my parents deck, as well as add an awning and handrails for my elderly mother, who is not in good health, but enjoys sitting outside. I was skeptical after reading the negative reviews posted here, but once I learned the company had recently been restructured, and had new installers, I decided to give them a try. I couldnt be happier with the service, the product and the experience. Great company!
We were given a quote on a deck and door. We decided against the deck but still wanted our door done. When we asked them they gave us a price and we asked to schedule the door they came out and said the door would be even more than the original quote because we werent doing the deck. We agreed to the new quote even though it was more than the original quote and asked to please schedule it. They then told us the quote they had just given us minutes before would be even higher. They said theyd get me another quote and never got back to me even after I tried to reach them. I would NOT recommend them to anyone. Treated us like we werent worth their time. Pretty frustrating.
Dont....just dont.... Anyone know anybody that can fix a patio awning? The 30-40 yr old awning that was torn down before their install, with holes and duct tape, did more good than this thing. It rips my heart out that we paid thousands of dollars of hard earned money for something such as this. Dont make the same mistake we did. Research more! Check reviews! Believe the reviews!
Excellent craftsmanship, always on time, updated during construction, beautiful addition to our home.
Ive had my awning for a year now and we absolutely love it! They were professional and easy to work with.
Hilariously terrible... you couldnt make this stuff up. Slow progress, started on wrong end of the house, rain came and flooded basement - finally started making progress - post werent straight and not secured - almost fell over. Owner made commitments to come look at poor work - never did and never responded. When it was up Awning leaked worse than the 35 year old awning that had holes in it that it replaced... after weeks of complaining and begging for something - they came and caulked and took virtually nothing off the bill for damages from the flooding. Its been months and the awning still leaks something terrible - complete waste of money, terrible to work with... etc. they never cleaned up after they were done still picking screws out of the lawn and out of my dogs paw...the highlight of my experience was when I challenged their poor workmanship the lady on the phone said, well the American labor force isnt what it used to be - it hard to get good labor right now... and I said excuse me! Are you blaming American culture for your poor work? Maam if you cant compete in the marketplace than you shouldnt be in business! There were so many more things. I couldnt say enough about NOT working with them! we have to sandbag our foundation so when it rains it doesnt roll down until we can afford to pay for someone else to do a whole new awning.
In Oct 2014 we stopped by Sunsational Awnings for quotes on a small composite deck landing (5x5), with 7 or 8 stairs down to a patio, and for an Alumawood pergola. The initial in-the-store quotes were reasonable, but when they came out to measure and actually price it out, it ended up being about 25% more than what they had estimated (even though we gave them the measurements). So that was a bit annoying. We decided to move forward anyway, because they were at least willing to come out and do a small job for us (other contractors we tried to find wouldnt even bother because what we needed wasnt huge, and they were all chasing the bigger paying projects). So kudos to Sunsational. In the end, because of the price difference from what we were expecting vs reality, we could only do the deck, and not the pergola. We paid for half of the project upfront, and then half once it was complete. Another annoying thing was that after we paid for the first half, it took a while before they actually came out and did the job. He explained that they were in the middle of some staffing issues, and they had just let go of some of the laborers, so they were a bit behind. It took about a month and a half before they finally came out to do the work.Thats where my complaints end. Everything else about this job was fantastic, and exceeded our expectations. Again, we had just one little landing with just a few steps, but the support that they built into the landing and steps was beyond sufficient. This thing is strong, theres no bending of the planks as you walk down the stairs (which Ive noticed on other peoples steps). Its completely structurally sound. The craftsmanship and work done was just excellent in every regard. The materials used were top quality, and the builder knew what he was doing to make a strong, beautiful deck.Assuming the staffing issues have now been resolved, I think if you decide to use Sunsational, youll be pleased with what they can do for you. Theyre top on our list for when we are able to finally get our pergola.
The owner is the most rude woman I have ever dealt with in my life. I had the nerve to ask for her business partner instead of herself when I called for information for my grandmother. She began saying nasty things about her own business partner and had such an attitude I just disconnected the call. Will never do business with these people.
For better communication, installation, & customer service, call anyone before Sunsational. I called on 6/13/16 for an estimate to cover my large deck. Steve Brewer came the same day, took measurements, and made his offer. I accepted. He came back on 6/17 to take detailed measurements, to bring a contract, and to collect the 50% down. Contract said they would try to install 7/14. I called on 7/13 to verify work would begin the next day. Materials hadnt arrived. Should arrive next week. I called on 7/22. Materials arrived. Installation would be 7/26. When no one came on 7/26, I called. Someone had heat stroke — an act of God. (Please note: Sunsational never calls you. It directly violates their Customer Dissatisfaction Policy.) On 7/27 an installer arrives and informs my 84-year-old mother the work couldnt be done until the power lines leading to the house were raised. Too low for code. Mom: Why didnt Steve Brewer tell us that a month ago? Him: Good question. He asked to store the awning materials in the backyard until work could be done. Mom told him no because the landscapers would be unable to get their equipment back there to mow, and hell knows how long before wed hear from Sunsational again, and that if it were up to her, wed forget the whole thing. After work, Sunsational called me (a first) to say Mom turned their guy away. I asked Melanie how it was construed she turned a guy away who told her he couldnt do the job. Melanie (angry): Well, thats one way of looking at it. I called Steve Brewer and asked how he failed to notice the power line both times he measured. His words (snarkily): They werent pointed out to me. He said that Id forfeit my deposit if I canceled the job. Read your contract. On 7/27 I called Murray city who had the power line raised by 2:00. Since I also failed to point out Comcasts wire to Steve, I had it raised as well. I called Melanie at 2:36. She said the installer would call me. He never did. I called Sunsational on 8/2 to see if I was on their work list. I was told yes, but I was at the bottom since I turned their guy away. On 8/12 I called and was told I was on their schedule for either the week of 8/15 or the week of 8/22. They couldnt be more definite because I had turned them away once already. (Punish the Customer Policy.)On 8/26 an installer arrived and finished the job on 9/1. His habit was to arrive at 9 or 9:30, take an hour lunch, and leave at 2:30 — 3:00 on a long day. Sunsational called on 9/1 (second time ever) to ask how Id be paying the balance. I said the awning looked great, but that neither the south or north rain gutters had downspouts or end caps. The facing between house and awning was half done. He couldnt do the downspout, she said, because a plant hanger was in the way. I hung up, got out a screwdriver, and removed two screws securing the pesky obstruction. Sunsational called Sept. 2 and asked how Id like to pay the balance. All was finished except the north rain gutter. It had no downspout. She put Melanie on the line who got out the original drawing and said no north rain gutter was in the drawing. I explained that because of an existing structure (an older awning I apparently hadnt pointed out to Steve), the installer was forced to deviate from the original drawing. He added a short gutter to jut around the existing structure. The price I agreed to pay, Melanie said, was for one rain gutter, and any extra rain gutters I arranged with the installer would require additional materials and labor added to the contract. That was it. I was done. Though within my rights to hold payment until the job was done to satisfaction, I knew the only satisfaction I would gain from these people would be to rid myself of them. I paid them off and hired another contractor to finish the rain gutters. It took him less than an hour. For the cost of a downspout and two end caps, this review might never have been written.
Great company! Highly recommended!
We really love our decks!
