Everyone was fantastic! In particular, the first lady that did the majority of the eye tests, her name is Kimmy. She was quite probably the sweetest and most helpful person I have ever found in the medical field. Full stop.The doctor, and even the sales side of the Excel eye Center, were helpful, not pushy, and even made suggestions where I might have better luck at specific options.I mean, what company offers their competitors as an option?The answer: a company that is secure in what they do.I dont get paid by them, Im not employed by them, or anything else. Im just a customer of theirs. And I have no qualms recommending anybody to them.

I had PRK done with Dr Ricks and had a great experience. I knew what to expect every step of the way. When I had a small infection arise in my after care Dr Ricks went above and beyond to make sure I had the medication I needed and called to follow up a few days later. I would definitely recommend working with Dr Ricks.

I was very pleased with Dr Ricks at Excel Eye Center in Provo. I had developed a cataract on one of my pupils. I was mainly seeing fog out of that eye. I had a pan optic lens put in. Dr Ricks was excellent at explaining the procedure and answering my questions. Now I can see. The lens has corrected my distance and close up vision, and no more fog. If you’re in need of cataract surgery, I would highly recommend Dr Ricks at Excel Eye Center. Don’t wait, the recovery was very easy.

Dr. Wooley went above and beyond. Not only did he find a problem that needed to be seen by a retinal specialist, he called and got me an appointment within the next couple of days. Very personable, too.

Dr. Ricks was awesome! He explained every step of the procedure and that helped with my anxiety over the surgery. I had cataract surgery and had the new lenses that helps me see close and far. The staff was professional and technically very competent.The financial experience however; a very different story!First there was an upsell on the latest and greatest lenses for cataract surgery. $2200/eye not covered by insurance.But most importantly, at the very end of the process, there was an additional $500/eye charge that would not be covered by any insurance.I am a veteran and had called to make sure that Excel took VA for payment. I was assured that they did and there was no mention of any of these up charges! I drove 3 1/2 hours to be here for this, unacceptable!!The closest experience I’ve had to this is used car sales!!

I have had a wonderful experience all staff was friendly. Very knowledgeable Drs. I had the ICL surgery about 3 years ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I would recommend this office for sure.

Dr. Matthew Parsons has been my (and husband Rons) eye doctor for years! Hes the best eye doctor weve ever had. Hell be retiring soon, and we hope hell have a wonderful life. Worst company policy I’ve ever heard of. Terrible service. Don’t know how they have such good reviews. Over priced and if they break your glasses when working on them they don’t give you a refund or replacement. They want you to buy a new set. What’s stopping them from just breaking ever set of glasses that comes through if they’re not liable? TERRIBLE. Seriously so bad.

I was referral to excel eye center by a family member. Dr. Morris was amazing. He gave me answers that other eye doctors couldn’t give me. The staff was so amazing & very fast to get you in. I would definitely recommend my family & friends to excel eye center.

From the time we arrived to the time we left was almost TWO HOURS. I dont understand why Dr. Woolley so tightly schedules his patients like that. I dont think the doctors and office managers understand that elderly people have lives and schedules and places to be, and certainly the caregivers who bring them to the appointment have lives and schedules and other places to be. As if the doctors time is more precious than patients time. I believe that if patients have to wait beyond 15 minutes, they should be paid $5 for every minute the doctor makes them wait. Or given a $50 gift card for every 10 minutes they wait. My time is worth something, doctors! Stop overscheduling.

I have been going to excel eye center in Provo for more years than I can remember. Ive seen Dr Parsons nearly the whole time. Happy for him that he is retiring but sad for me that he will no longer be my eye doctor. He has been an awesome eye doctor. I wish him well in his retirement. But I will continue to see a different eye doctor at Excel going forward.

Great place for eye care. They do it all from my annual check ups to selling glasses frames and even providing affordable lasik options. I recommend them no matter your need.

The exam was the best eye exam experiences I have had to date! It was fast, efficient, the Dr was very knowledgeable and friendly. The technician was amazing, super knowledgeable, and made the experience enjoyable, yet quick.

Competent, skilled care by a very good ophthalmologist. We have felt very confident and pleased with the care we’ve received there. I didn’t give 5 stars because there is usually a wait, but it’s never more than about 15-20 minutes.

First time visit. The atmosphere was welcoming. From front desk to medical assistant and doctor they were incredible and made me feel so comfortable. Very professional..definitely will refer my friends and family.

Great place but go prepared to spend some time there because the shortest it has ever been for me is about 90 minutes. From time I arrive to leaving has taken over 2 hours before. They are thorough and good so it’s worth it to me. And I get me contact script and a routine eye exam with dilation so maybe getting both is why it takes forever.

I was impressed! I had no wait time, which I realize was in part to an early morning appoint! The new doctor was kind, friendly, appeared knowledgeable and informed!!

They Will over charge.Nearly $500 for literally just an eye exam.And when I asked about non-corrective cosplay contacts they offered to order them for me...At double to triple the price.Finally I went to the website they were buying from and bought them myself (the site offered $25 per Pair. Excel wanted to charge $25 per Lense.)Now theyre trying to get me back in so they can teach me how to put the contact in??? For what, another $500? Ill pass.

A little bit of a wait but well worth it. Dr. Schmutz had come to my small town to do the evaluation then had me go to Spanish Fork for the exam. One more picture needed to be taken so I had to go to Provo because that was where the specialty machine was. Dr. Schmutz spent a little extra time with me and he made me feel very comfortable about the procedure coming up.

Dr. Ricks was absolutely amazing! He helped me regain my eye sight in one night! Absolutely amazing results. I am dancing on the moon. Thank you Dr. Ricks for changing my life. If you have any doubts, he’s the one for you.

This was my first visit so I am just forming my impression of your staff and services. My commentswill be more in depth as I continue my visits to Excel. I was favorably impressed with my first appointment and will return in 2 weeks as scheduled.

Great place for eye care!!! My wife was having eye trouble (surgery’s) etc. and after it was all said and done she needed new glasses so she went to our local eye doctor ( because Excel is 75 miles away from us) to get an eye exam and glasses so she ordered her glasses. Her new glasses came in and she couldn’t see very good so they order her some more 3 different times finally they decided she needs “special glasses” so they ordered them and after a 7 month wait she finally got them she still couldn’t see.Some good friends of our recommended Excel Eye Center to us so off we went to see the doctor and the doctor did an exam and said he need to see her again in a week so she went back and he did some laser work on both of her eyes which literally took 10 minutes to do then she had to wait a week for them to heal and she ordered glasses and can see perfect!They do a thorough eye exam and can fit you with new glasses BUT they are not high pressure to sell you anything, they do it how ever you want.Thank you Excel Eye Center for taking care of us!

This review does not reflect on the doctors at Excel Eye Center but on one of their billing policies. Beware if you are a new patient or are not a new patient but have not had an appointment there in the last three years! My 30-yr.-old daughter visited this place last in February of 2018. She went again in June of 2021 for a regular exam. Her insurance paid $100 of the $120 charge for the exam, but the bill she received included a $457 new patient fee! I called and wondered why the fee existed and why she was not told about it when she made the appointment in the first place (or she would not have gone there). I received some kind of explanation about some state law and her age, etc. Then the billing office lowered the charge to $130.00; but in my view, there should be NO new patient fee. Many eye doctor offices do not charge such a fee, and my own eye doctors office has never heard of any state law regarding new patient fees charge after three years of not visiting an office.

I received a couple reminders before the appointment, via text, which I appreciated. When I arrived I was promptly greeted and my appointment started within 5-7 minutes of my arrival. I was treated warmly, kindly and efficiently by all who worked with me. Dr. Parsons is an excellent doctor and I appreciate his concerned care for me and my eyesight. Thank you for such a positive experience!

I had some alarming vision problems and was refered to Excel many years ago. Ive been going to back to Excel, Dr Wilkinson, since. I feel like my eyes are well tended, and any problems will be caught promptly. All the staff I have been assisted by have been very good.

The doctors and staff at Excel Eye Center in Provo are always fantastic! I’ve been going to Excel for years, even as I’ve moved around the county, I choose to drive the distance necessary to go to the office I know and trust.

I went to see Dr Parson because I have had a small stroke and had double vision. He was very attentive and got me into a pair of glasses that very day that has brought me great relief. I was so very grateful and also surprised that everything could happen so quickly and successfully. I totally love that man after one short but successful visit and highly recommend him for his expertise as well as expeditious action.

Excel Eye Center is the best place for all things eyes hands down. Dr Wilkinson has given my son new life with a cornea transplant. His vision went from 20/700 to 20/40. A simple thank you isn’t enough! All of the employees in all offices are so great as well!

Was very impressed with my first time experience. They are practicing social distancing in the waiting area. The receptionist was friendly and super efficient. She processed my check in quickly and most of my information was already printed on the check in forms. I just had to answer questions on a brief form. I was seen at my appointment time. The technicians that preformed my initial tests were friendly efficient and explained everything to me. I was pleased with my experience consulting with Dr Wilkerson on my upcoming cornea transplant surgery he will be performing next month.

A great place to get an eye exam. All of the doctors are incredibly knowledgeable and have a great bedside manner. My favorite Doctors are Doctor Schmutz and Doctor Ricks. The receptionists are caring and helpful and the techs are efficient and incredible. Its also a great place to get lasik.

Doctor Ricks is a perfect combination for a physician, intelligent, detailed and thorough, combined with a quiet kindness and genuine caring personality. He has my complete trust with his ability to think of care needed now and how that care might influence conditions in the future. I appreciate this type of thought vs a quick fix conveyor belt care.

Excel is great ... Treena & I have been going to Dr Parsons for years. He’s very thorough and tell you straight out if there is anything wrong with your eyes. He makes good suggestions on how to keep your eyesight as good as it can be. He tells us if we need any upcoming procedures. While talking to Dr Parsons, we found out he is close to retirement and wanting to go on a Humanitarian Mission.Stephen, his assistant, is very pleasant and has a goal to be a General Surgeon ...The girls at the desk are cheerful & perky ...

Friendly staff. Dr Parsons performed cataract surgery on my left eye 2 years ago with lens implant. Love the results. I will have right eye done in 2 months. My wife had surgery on right eye and can see 2020 for 1st time. She will have her left eye done next month. When it comes to your eye sight you can trust the skills of Dr Parsons.

Get your Lasik here! I got my Lasik done at this location a few years ago and it was such a great experience. The staff was super nice and the Dr. Wilkinson was amazing. My vision has been great since. I highly recommend Lasik and Excel.

Dr. Parsons has been treating me for over ten years following procedures for a retinal tear and detachment. He is very personable and attentive, quick to respond effectively to any new concerns. I have had seven eye surgeries and wonderful care from the doctors at Excel Eye Center, specifically Dr. Matthew Parsons and Dr. Mason Schmutz. They have preserved my vision which would have been lost due to hereditary glaucoma. Their assistants and the front desk people have also been very courteous, friendly, kind, and helpful.

Dr. Schmutz was very good treating my wifes eye, and the staff were all friendly and great. This is the rating she wanted to post (we are using my cell for a contact number but this is the rating she wanted me to enter).

I have been going to the excellent eye care for nearly 35 years! Long before they moved to their current location. They have provided professional and friendly treatments. The best of any of the other facilities and optometry clinics I have had visits to. Thank you Excell!

I had my PRK surgery done about 1 month ago by Dr. Ricks, and Im so happy I did! I was very nervous going into it, but Dr. Ricks really helped me feel at ease and confident going in to the surgery. I had heard that the recovery for PRK was really difficult, but I didnt have hardly any pain. I had some mild discomfort, but thats about it. A month later and I can already see 20/20 out of my left eye and 20/15 out of my right eye which is even better than I couldve hoped for. LIFE CHANGING surgery as I had such terrible eyesight before! Cant say enough good about Dr. Ricks, as he is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and skilled surgeon. Im definitely recommending all my friends and family to go to him!

I scheduled an appointment to get my contact lens prescription renewed and get a basic eye checkup. My concern, which I expressed when I made my appointment and repeated again multiple times during the visit, was that I dont see as well as I should with my contact lenses in. The technicians ran all the standard tests and we got to 20/20 vision looking through the big goggles.Then they brought in Dr. Theurer to finish things up. He told me that my left eye prescription had changed slightly but my right eye was the same, and he wrote me a prescription accordingly. I insisted this was not right, that we needed to do something else because I was not satisfied with my vision in its current state, right eye or left eye. He dismissed my concerns saying this was the best he could do. I asked if there was another type of contact lens that might help me see better, and he again dismissed my concern and told me I would have to talk to someone else about that. The entire time he seemed distracted and rushed. Nobody offered to let me see another doctor who might actually help me see better.To top it off, I went to fill the prescription and found that the product he prescribed for my left eye doesnt exist in the power he wrote it for.I just called the billing department and they again dismissed my concerns, saying that nobody is perfect. I suggested there should be someone willing to work this out with me, and I was told I had to speak to one of Dr. Theurers technicians. I was transferred, put on hold for several minutes, and then dropped into a voicemail. When I called back nobody answered.Very disappointed with this service. Im going elsewhere.

I have been to several ophthalmologists and optometrists over the years and can honestly say I have found the place I will go back to every single time. I came to Dr. Ricks with a problem i’d seen several other doctors for and no one could help, but Dr. Ricks here at Excel Eye Care knew immediately what to do and i was so thankful! I felt like he truly listened to me and I left feeling so relieved! From the front desk, to the tech, to my experience with the doctor i felt that the staff here was so knowledgeable and that they really cared and were willing to answer all my questions. I highly recommend!!

Dr. Ricks is amazing! Im 52 and have been wearing glasses/contacts since I was 8. I looked into getting Lasix a few years back but wasnt a candidate. First visit with Dr. Ricks he told me about an implant procedure that I was a candidate for. I was super nervous about the procedure but Dr. Ricks took the time to speak with me about all my concerns and left me feeling very confident in his skills. I now have bionic eyes and am finally rid of my glasses/contacts forever. I am so happy that I put my trust in Dr. Ricks. He is a the best eye doctor out there and Ive been to quite a few in my lifetime. I now refer him to everyone! Thanks Dr. Ricks :)

Dr. Christopher Rick is an outstanding doctor. Dont let his youthful looks fool you. He is extremely skilled. He did a wonderful job on my mother-in-law Bonnies cataracts, and she could see markedly better the very next day! Additionally, his staff, from the front office to his medical assistants are very professional and kind. The technician who put in her IV was terrific. We would highly recommend Dr. Rick to anyone.

Having my wife sit in a dark exam room for Dr Parson for an hour and 1/2 is wrong! As a retired dentist of 40 yrs this is unacceptable! And in 5 mins the exam is over? Really? Assembly lining patients is unfair! This has happened to us on several occasions with this Dr. This isn’t the 1950’s over booking is not kind.

Dr. Morris was wonderful. I’m in my late 30’s and this was my first eye doctor appointment and it was great experience—fun even! He is very positive and encouraging throughout the appointment.It was easy to tell the difference between various lens he had you look through (I was worried they all would look blurry and inconclusive and give me a headache. However, that wasn’t the case.)It was a fast, efficient and pleasant experience at Excel Eye Center with Dr. Morris.
