Good selection and okay prices but not very helpful staff.Its a large store with a lot of stuff but good luck if you need any help or assistance.Needed to get some long length lumber that was in the middle row. Usually do not get lumber from there but was closer to me and did not want it hanging out of my vehicle longer than necessary. Brought someone with me but could have used store help to get in down. Could not find anyone so had to stand on the lower rack of lumber and hand down to person with me. Eventually 3 workers walked by at different times including the same person twice and no one said anything or asked if I needed help, while I was standing on the stack of lumber. Apparently they are okay with customers have to stand on merchandise to reach other things.Close to wear I live is most positive thing can say.

It is a nice friendly store with good people at the front And throughout the store. They always know where things are at when I ask them. And if I cant find what I need they will refer me to somebody Who does know.

Sutherland shopping was incredible. I went in to buy some plants and on the way to the register, I spotted furniture. I have been wanting to buy furniture since October 2020. All the other furniture places say it will be 3 to 6 months to get items, maybe longer. Kurt checked on items I was wanting, and they will be delivered to me within 5 days.Thanks Kurt and Thanks Sarah for efficient customer service.Sutherland definitely has my business. After driving around KC searching furniture stores for a sofa and chair, and not finding something that was nice quality and appropriately priced, I decided to search online. I found some sofas I liked on Ashleys website, and remembered I had seen and liked them at Sutherlands. That same day, in Sutherlands circular, I saw those sofas on sale for an unbelievable price! We hurried over to purchase four pieces of furniture and four days later, not weeks, we have them. Would have never thought I would find it in a home improvement store.

I historically used the older location in Independence until they closed. Since then I have occasionally driven the extra distance to the Raytown store mostly because of my familiarity with their set up, and their loyalty program. I have for the most part always found what I needed. I like the fact that you won’t routinely have to wait in long lines or crowded parking lots like you would some of the other big stores. Sometimes I do find it challenging to find staff to help. I have also found on occasion they don’t have all the right supplies/materials to mix specific colors of paint. Otherwise I find their materials and prices to be quite competitive, and often their friends of the family sales are outstanding. If you know your way around and what to look for.... this is the perfect place.

Im glad this store rates highly. I found most of what I needed today but needed help with paint. When I asked to paint employee he responded with a what kind of question is that. Stunned I looked for the paint color tabs I had saved but saw they were now lost. Im a fairly new homeowner needed exterior paint and dont know how everything works but this male employee acted liked I should of not bothered him. He was older and rather large and had to use a store stroller to get to the cash registers. Im not sure he wanted to work or should be put with the paint area which can be physically demanding. He joined a group of employees socializing on the floor. I asked the cashier about the same paint question but she was a young girl and inexperienced. I did mention the other employee I asked treated me rudely so I wouldnt be pursuing getting paint here today since I had my kids with me and it was lunchtime too.

They didnt have most of the items I went there for in stock, items that were in their current ad. But it wasnt crowded, so at least I could shop comfortably. And the staff were all super friendly and helpful.

Good alternative to the other DYI stores.

I strongly suggest these guys for mostly M-F Project Shopping trips, cost (higher than most equal comparison stores) but location (is very big reason I frequent Sutherlands as much as I do). If you are lucky enough to visit on his scheduled work day, Ask for Travis for just about any of your needs, or just toss your tough project issues at him and Ill bet hell solve them for you quickly and accurately. He has only failed answering 1 question Ive asked him in 4 yrs. My question was and remains, Why the hell arent you Running this Store? A very humble yet confident kid. Thanks again Travis!

In the fall last year I went in to get a few things that I needed. Paid and went on my way...a couple of months later a charge came off of my card for Sutherlands. When I went to my bank statement the money had been taken out, put back in and then a couple of months later taken out again. Strange! I called the store and the lady I spoke with said her IT guy looked and said it was on the bank. I called my bank and they said the issue would be on Sutherlands. My bank offered to call and speak to the store. I call the main store to try and get both the bank and the store on the phone. I have called the General Office FOUR times now with not a single response from from anyone on this issue. I truly do love shopping at Sutherlands, but do not want to come back in if I will always have this issue.

My girlfriend and I visted this location for the first time the other day. I am going to assume they have a HUGE theft problem. We were only greeted by a plain clothed man says What is it youre looking for? Once I explained (a belt for a air compressor, he said Nope, we dont have anything like that. Not here. Very rude and pushy basically telling us to leave without saying the words. We shopped around for about half hour. In that time we were constantly watched and followed. I asked an employee a question about a price on a plant, he was also rude and said If it aint on it then you have to go ask someone up-front. I will take my business elsewhere, if this is common treatment of customers the management needs some serious training on customer service and common hospitality.

I walked in and was not properly greeted was attacked for my backpack because I was black a Caucasian woman was in there with her backpack and there was no questions asked they were so rude and unbecoming I decided not to spend my money there

Big sign when you walk in: .99 seed geraniums and 4packs. Shopped for over an hour. At checkout, cashier says sale doesnt start until tomorrow! 2 others in line also walked out flowerless. Might have had start date in small print somewhere, but not evident as you walk by it. What a waste of time.

Love how the employees just laughing and in different circles huddling while talking ignoring customers. Many were looking for help but couldnt receive any. Terrible store.

Sutherlands is my go-to store for home improvements and projects. Everyone is so helpful, and many are quite knowledgeable about the use of their products. I frequent this location and am always appreciative of their prices, selection, and staff. They also have a rental center for various tools and equipment you may need only short-term. Thank you all!

Just left here looking for a sprayer, walked around the entire store and no one asked to help. When I did see someone he tried to walk away before I could get to him. When I said excuse me he turned around with an attitude. Then told me to look at ACE. This is why the parking lot is always damn near empty. Will not be back and will not recommend anyone to go here.

They welcome you when u come into the store. If you need something They will take care of you and show you where everything things at.

To unload here was a nightmare. The man was clueless and didnt unload, didnt put dock plate down.. Nothing.

Went to this store to get paint and was impressed with the outstanding customer care service. Staff very helpful and available to answer all my questions. Excellent store to shop for home improvements supplies. I will return again to finish off all my home projects.

Good places to buy stuff u need

Sutherlands small engine repair lawn mowers and weed eater shop was extremely helpful. They make sure we have the right fuel line and fuel filter for our weed eater and did it with little fuss and lots of laughs. Hope that theyre doing good.

The employees are mostly rude with the exception on a couple. This store is very inaccurate with their pricing and make a big deal out of it when you show them its either advertised lower out the tag in front of it on the shelf is lower, and Im talking several dollars not just cents. The e.ployees seem to stand around and talk an awful lot, I mean when you press a service button yet 20 min later there are still 7 of them behind the front counter talking and doing it so much that when I walk past them and out the front doing yelling that they should pay more attention yet they dont even notice me its a bit ridiculous. Better get new management in this place or it will fail quivkly

I went to get a 10” hanging basket for $6.99, as advertised. All of those looked dead or dying. I guess they use the ad to get you in the store to buy the more expensive baskets.

Went to buy plant the garden center door was locked had to go to the main door and walk all the way down to the garden center I am handicap. There were no baskets outside to purchase plants that were outside. This was very very LACKING customer service. Left without purchasing.

Went into to get an item to cut weeds down. Bought 2 machetes and a weed cutter we saw online. The cashier said ohI didnt know people still bought these, seems like your money would be better spent elsewhere. I really like the store and the helpful staff, but they just dont have a good selection. No wood hardener. No naval jelly for rust removal. No hot mud. No organic herbicides. Im always driving to another store afterwards.

This particular location sells fill dirt by the scoop as well as colored mulching, they also sell bad boy mowers, have a tool rental department, in short a lot larger than the Wornall location.. Oh by the way the location Im speaking of is on Blue Ridge cutoff

Sutherlands has been our go-to to place for Christmas trees since they moved to our neighborhood. Unfortunately, every year they have fewer and fewer. We did get a beauty - but they were almost gone. Great quality trees, at a very reasonable price - just make sure you go earlier than later in the season! (One star off for lack of inventory.)

The store is gloomy because of the staff. They barely greet anyone. I’m never offered assistance by anyone and whenever I do stop in since it’s only 5-minutes away the front staff appear non-interested overall. When I go it’s only out of convenience for a quick grab. Home Depot actually offers the smile, assistances and overall environment I’m accustomed too.

Was surprised that the parking lot was empty except for a few cars on a Saturday morning. Several employees at front desk, met with a friendly greeting. Didnt seem to have a lot of stock and could not find any employees working the floor that were not already helping other customers. Really like the store but not sure how much longer it will be around.

Good service good prices

They tried to copy my car key, but it didnt work. The guy was good about making sure I was taken care of though. Westlake wouldnt even try to make a copy, and they were rude about it. Also Sutherlands rewards points are applied during checkout once you earn enough. This saves me money, unlike the Westlake points which are impossible to redeem. Lesson learned. Sutherlands is where I go. I just wish they were open a little later.

Great hardware store for small projects. Not nearly as busy as home Depot or Lowes. I am probably in this store once a week. They have always had what I was needing.

My son and I drove to Raytown because this location had something we needed. The store is clean and well kept overall (the areas we were in) except for the outdoor garden area. It was pretty rough looking.Anyway, we found the items we needed quite easily but we needed several of one item and only a few were stocked on the shelf. We could see more stock on the rack above so we used the department call button to ask for assistance. It took a couple minutes for someone to arrive but no big deal. We looked at a couple other things while we waited. A young associate arrived just ahead of a gentlemen who looked to be the manager. They cleared the call button and we explained what we needed.Here is where things took a turn; the presumed manager gave me an incredulous look and walked over to the shelf. He asked several times what we needed. Each time I told him what it was, pointed to the last few on the shelf, and then pointed to the pallet above with many more that I was hoping someone could get down for us. He frowned and said he would have to get a forklift. I said we could wait and he frowned again as he walked away.We waited a while longer and after about 10 minutes I told my son we could leave and try another store (managers attitude didnt sit well with me). My son talked me into waiting. Wait we did, another 5-10 minutes. Eventually the forklift came into view and the same gentleman brought down the additional stock. He did flippantly apologize for the wait but was in no hurry at any point to get the job done.Hopefully he was just having a rough day and our experience is the exception.

Horrible customer service. The store manager was less than helpful. We waited an hour for them to find the stuff we were buying after we told them to take it to the front when we walked in gave them 30 minutes to bring it up and they didnt do that. They dont care they are wasting your time or money. Would not recommend coming to this store for anything. Would give 0 stars if I could. They went to load our stuff and part of it started falling off the fork lift so I ran over grabbed it so it wouldnt fall on the ground no one seemed to care at all. Will never come back to this place again. Customer service guy totally sucked was rude and was pissed off when I asked why it was taken so long after an hour. I was told to wait outside by the loading door and they told me if I was inside then I would of heard them trying find them on the radios. Uh what??? Yeah your an idiot!
