Absolutely the best energy in this place! Was gifted a $5 coupon at the Aliveo Military Museum across the street. SO glad I went in. I was greeted by one of the owners and asked if Id ever been in. It was indeed my first time! Which meant, they have a tradition of a free book that suits your tastes and a little something extra!!! Totally enjoyed the extra attention and conversation by both owners. The book selection was wonderful. I love used book stores, sometimes you dont find something but when you do its the best. If you cant find anything yourself you can always ask the staff they know books. The shop dog is just a bonus.

What a wonderful jewel for Red Wing, the bookstore world, and every visitor who wanders into this place! Upon entering you know you are in one of the old style bookstores with a comfy feeling, friendly golden retriever happily sleeping under a table, pleasant lamps and easy chairs, an inviting childrens section just inside the door AND Rick & Zo! We were greeted warmly, assisted, befriended, and as first time visitors, we were each gifted a book, which Rick picked out personally for us based on what we liked. A magical place, with authentic owners! We were just stopped in Red Wing for a few hours on our travels (from FL), but will detour to this lovely little town in the future, just to touch base with Rick & Zo. Got a great old military history book for my son here too!

Wonderful bookstore! Organized, clean, cozy. The owner greeted us upon entry, asked if we needed help. We did and with a few questions and answers she led us to a few books, 2 of her selections we purchased along with others. It was a very enjoyable experience, relaxed with no pressure. A great fit for the beautiful town of Red Wing. Not to miss. Plus we also loved the dog. :)

Stumbled upon this store on a cold February day. I said I dont need any books and my boyfriend replied ok but its warm in here. 6 books later, we were on our way. Such a fun and inviting place. Do not miss this store if you visit Red Wing!

Delightful experience! The store atmosphere and design was pleasant. They had a good selection — maybe too much of a selection because several crates of boxes were stacked under tables making them hard to reach. My wife and I found several dozen books to add to our library and appreciated the friendliness of the owner and staff. We will definitely be repeat customers! Also excited to learn they are opening a location in Rochester, MN.

So I highly recommend this hidden gem of a store. The owners are very welcoming and so is there dog ( very nice and well behaved) and they have a store tradition that more people should adopt. You will just have to stop in to find out what it is and I hope you love it as much as I do.

This place is a book lovers paradise!There is a beautiful Golden Retriever who hangs out here (mellow, nice to kids, doesnt lick). On your first visit they will give you a free book that they pick it based on your interests (they are very good). New and used books. Very inexpensive (I got 4 books for less than $20). They have everything new releases to vintage books. The shelves are neat, organized, and easy to navigate. They have some book themed merchandise. All around amazing.

This store is fantastic! On your first visit, the owner selects a book for you based on your interests and gifts it to you for free. It has a nice atmosphere.The only downside is that the place is arranged a little funny. But if you ask someone working there, I am confident they could find you anything you were looking for as long as it was in stock.They have new and used books, and also let you do trade-ins for credit.Books make great gifts!

Used books seemed a little high priced but the wonderful atmosphere more than made up for it. Loved the building itself and petting the friendly bookstore dog was great. Very kind and inviting staff as well.

Fair Trade is a lot more than a book store. Its a community center where artists, musicians, writers, poets, and all sorts of creative people come together. Between the open mic, documentary movie nights, and many writers presenting their work at the store, its hard to find a day when there isnt something going on at Fair Trade Books. Great prices on used books and fair prices on new editions.

I had a wonderful experience at Fair Trade Books! The owner was delightful. Since I restore historic structures and support independant bookstores and sustainable local and regional development practices, the store, itself, was an embodiment of things quite dear to me. It was a wonderful retreat on a visit to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, and I highly recommend it. Oh, and I love the name:)))

By far the best bookstore I have ever been in. Small town, big box stores and anything in between, this tops it. The head greeter (A dog) is very good at his job. The owner if friendly and knowledgable. Ive never been to Redwing before and I will be back to visit this establishment.

For what its worth my wife and I have been discussing moving to Red Wing and opening a used book store because we love books, but when we saw this one listed on Google we had to visit because we also love used book stores. We have now changed our minds about opening a used book store because in no way do we want to compete with this awesome little place.On your first visit, the owner will gift you a book. He has fantastic taste in music, and the store is very well organized despite the inventory-to-shelf-space ratio. I could honestly say I could do as well, but theres no way I could do it better. This place is what a used book store should be and he deserves every star.
