This place is great! Very delicious and fresh ice cream made right in front of you! They have some really unique flavors. I wish there was a way to try multiple flavors if you get more than one scoop. But I guess because they make each batch right then they cant do multiple flavors but it would be nice if there was a way to try more flavors when you get the larger sizes. The flavors all sounded so interesting and I wanted to try them all! I will definitely have to come back some time!I got the Brown Butter Chocolate Caramel and it was excellent!
Normally I would rate this 5 stars but given the current times (aka. COVID) I felt I had to dock it down 1 star. It was quite off-putting that there seems to be no COVID protocols in place. The young adults making the ice cream are laughing and having a good time - which is fine - but there is no usage of gloves, masks, hand sanitizer anywhere. People are still allowed to grab their own spoon (which is not covered or protected) in anyway. This should be changed. The ice cream itself is 5+ ⭐.
So delicious! I dont want to tell you that the Strawberry Balsamic ice cream change your life... But it does.I want to take a star off for speed of service, but perfection takes time and its worth it!
Always good and the ingredients are always the freshest. The lemon custard was divine.
Solid flavors that are hard to beat with conventional ice cream methods, vegan options as well
My all time favorite flavor is the strawberry balsamic. The balsamic reduction is perfectly balanced with the strawberry and is just unique enough to feel like youre trying something abit out your comfort zone but still safe. If the balsamic is still too unique to try you can order it on the side or replaced with any other dressing such as the the strawberry compote.Today we tried the grapefruit sorbet with a wine reduction. Not only was it delicious, but it was dairy free! I appreciate that they have non dairy options. I was not a fan of the wine reduction so next time Ill just have that replaced with a different dressing.Im excited to work my way they their other sorbets. Freshest icecream and sorbets in Redlands!
I havent been sense the pandemic, But I LOVE A La Minute! The chocolate chip is the BEST I have ever had. I cant even eat regular ice cream now, because it doesnt compete. Also, very relaxing environment! Love love love.
The ice cream is so creamy here the local favorite is the salted caramel and it is amazing. Also tried the avocado and it was suprisingly very good! This places is biggest downfal is not having pints ready on the spot. Because the lines do get very backed up here all the way out the door. A fridge with ready to go pints would help streamline the service tremendously. All in all id definitely comeback for sure
Im a huge ice cream fanatic. So when I tell you this place is delicious, it truly is. The ice cream is made by using liquid nitrogen right in front of you. the consistency and texture of the ice cram is smooth and thick with a very milky taste to it. nothing like your rite aid ice cream. they offer cups or cones. Its a little hole in the wall place, well known, with excellent service. the ice cream is a bit pricey if your on a budget and have large family. A small cup will cost you five buck and a medium six. If you like something sweet and salty I would order the salted caramel. Its vanilla ice cream drizzled with sweet caramel and topped with a dash of salt. My favorite.
Ice cream is pretty good it has good textures; however, the employees are weird, they had weird reasons for not offering certain menu items, and it has a very elitist white liberal vibe. I dont get it. 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Didnt see anybody with masks or protection at all. Everyone should be wearing masks. I feel this has been lack luster and COVID precautions should be implemented.
At a la minute, they make your ice cream fresh using local ingredients. It is fun to watch, as they use liquid nitrogen. In the summer, there can be a line, as your ice cream is made fresh for you, right when you order. If you need the restroom, they will give the key. Parking is available on the street or across the street in a lot.
This is Ice cream like youve never had before. Science and sweets collide! Liquid Nitrogen cooled cream and exotic combination flavors. This dessert is on the pricy side but full of flavor. We sampled Honey - Orange, Chocolate - Mint, Espresso - Chip, Chocolate - Lavender and Salted - Caramel (the favorite)
Ive been eating here since it first opened and I miss the smell of freshly made waffle cones. However, I was very impressed with my online order and delivery. Although the experience is different than popping in during Market Night, the flavors were exactly as I remember. Admittedly, I didnt know if it would hold-up to freshly made, but it was a risk well taken. Ill definitely continue with their delivery until this lockdown ends!
We stoped by the Redlands location with some friends that were visiting out of town, it was the worst ice cream we’ve had im a very long time. The quality of everything from the ice cream to the toppings was just awful. For six people we had only four napkins, overall I felt ashamed for taking my friends there. I really DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL!!!
DELICIOUS ice cream. Unique choices and superb customer service!
Its still good, but the novelty has kinda worn off, their specials arent nearly as creative/unique as they used to be, the prices have increased, and the made to order now has limitations, making it less attractive. Their flavors in general are a bit homogeneous / lack things to chew.
Amazing. Always.Love this place - and I love that you can get super tiny servings without having anyone look at you with a slant eye 😂 “Mini” instead of “kids” size is an enlightened choice of nomenclature. My favorite flavor so far is the salted caramel but the lemon with strawberry is remarkable too! Yum.
**I do not come here for customer service. Their customer service is seriously lacking. But they have the best ice cream I have ever had. If you have a problem with pretentiousness than be warned that’s what you’re gonna deal with...but it’s SO worth it. I rarely say that. I recommend the Orange honey with the hangar 24 wheat reduction 👌🏻 Devine. And they are officially back to their original way of making ice cream with liquid nitrogen.
This place deserves a review primarily on their merit of responsibility. Some people are leaving reviews complaining that they no longer prepare their ice cream the moment you order it. Those same people also probably dont understand what Covid is, allow me to explain how à la Minute is doing business:-They have a limited number of flavors in limited sizes, 1/2 pint and 1 pint.-The topping for the ice cream comes on the side in a little container--its still incredibly delicious and the ingenuity behind their flavors is commendable, Ill never stop loving Vanilla Bean and Olive Oil Ice Cream.Side note: Dont review bomb a store because their Covid prevention practices dont align with your expectations of the stores product.
Covid complaints. At this time, only online orders are available. The ice cream is pre-made and in a big floor freezer. Toppings in little ounce cups. Sizes 8 oz and 16 oz. Once your flavor and corresponding size are sold out, you have 2 options...1. Get a new favorite flavor, or 2. Have something besides a la minute ice cream that day. Thats the reason for a little lower rating for this awesome ice cream 🍦. So barring that inconvenience the flavors are still very balenced, the toppings are perfectly matched, even if you are initially concerned 😟 about them matching and theres a reason they have a large customer base.
We were told we had to go here at least once a week during our stay in Redlands and now we regret waiting 3 weeks before going. Really good ice cream, I had the salted caramel. Huge portion compared to the price. It was really interesting to see the way they made the ice cream right as we ordered it. The noise from the machine has to be annoying to the employees after a while though.
A La Minute has without a doubt, some of the best ice cream available in the City of Redlands. Their selection may not be as expansive as some of the other different chains nearby, but what they lack in quantity they certainly make up for with quality. The ingredients they use in all their flavors are of a very high quality and most are sourced using other local vendors. In my humble but always right opinion, I think the honey orange flavor they offer is the best, but each of the others are truthfully just as good. I would definitely recommend anyone, visitors and locals alike, try this place if they havent already.
This ice cream was so authentic. I could not believe how amazing this ice cream was. I could taste all of the flavors and it was truly more tasteful than any other ice cream I’ve ever had! I had the salted caramel and it was so worth it. Honestly I’m sure all of the flavors are good, but I can’t wait to go back and try them all. Definitely definitely go to this place!
Delicious ice cream we drive 40 minutes just to come get our ice cream!
Great icecream but they need to go to a bigger location. The sidewalk is always congested and before Corona it was always packed inside and claustrophobic. They dont make ice cream on the spot anymore, they only sell their ice cream in containers now. The smallest size is too big for one person and the toppings they give you arent nearly enough. So when you buy their ice cream now, make sure you like the icecream by itself. Way better than that ice cream chain Baskin Robbins up the road though so its still worth to make the visit when youre craving quality ice cream.
Enjoyed most of the ice creams quite a lot. Something for everyone - unless that person is a chocolate fiend. I am such a man. This may be your favorite place if a chocolate bomb is not your go to. Otherwise, its a perfectly adequate 4 starts. Great staff by the way. Also, they wont let your two scoop regular be different flavors.
Excellent place to get ice cream. Keep up the Fantastic work out there, everybody!...
I didnt like that they dont prepare at the moment the ice cream. The flavor is different!!
Great spot for vegan ice cream 😋 would love to go again!!
Strawberry Balsamic ice cream it was excellent
This ice cream is one of my kids favorite places to go when we are in Redlands for the day. Strawberry is there Favorite.
Love this place! Really diffrent...flavorful.
Love their ice cream. The salted caramel Is my favorite. Have to order online at the moment.
Went to go get ice cream cause it was 107 outside and I was informed it was only online orders and you can’t simply walk up and order to go. So instead of making it a quick in and out transaction I had to stand in the heat and wait for the website to process my payment which took forever and not to mention they were out of most flavors
Perfect. Delightful. Amazing. Iconic.
Really good ice cream and service. Shame theres no more seats to enjoy the ice cream or that we cannot have more than one flavor with more than one scoop, but I guess it was a grab-n-go and maybe it has something to do with the ice cream making process. Really cool that the ice cream was handmade as well! Serving sizes and flavor really make up for its slightly high price. Mini is indeed enough for the average adult.
I had a bad experience here with a girl working @7 4-13-2021 she gave me and my family really bad attitude and she was disrespectful
Fav Flavor is Olive Oil Vanilla Bean. Try it, its delicious!Very decent hole in the wall ice cream shop. This place can get crowded quickly due to its location and small size, but the quality and selection is great. Decent service.
App payment only, rude service, lousy icecream. Do not visit this establishment if you expect otherwise.
Loved this place for years. Recently they stopped making the ice cream fresh in front of you (health code changes) and for a while the flavours werent the same. However, theyve completely reworked things again, and its just as delicious as it was when they made it in front of you. It actually takes longer to melt now as well. Super excited that they were able to figure things out.
Sea salted caramel ice cream! That is definitely the best thing here. I went here once, ordered something unique that I didnt enjoy, and never returned. My friends convinced me to try it again, and order the sea salted caramel. It was pretty yummy. Its still not my favorite place to get ice cream, but I might go back at some point. My friend ordered the beet and goat cheese ice cream. Three of us agreed that it was disgusting. It just tasted like beets to us. Not what I am looking for in a dessert, but I admire the creativity. This place always has a line, because some of their flavors are great and the location is convenient, I suppsoe. To me, its not worth the cost for what it is. Ive found other places with ice cream thats just as good or better, for a better price.
It was my first time and the staff was so nice and friendly. I tried their seasonal apple ice cream and it was delicious! A little on the sweet side so you don’t need toppings to be honest. I had it with snickerdoodle cookies and it hit the spot!
Such good, creamy ice cream! The staff is kind and willing to talk about the process. We just got the small cups of ice cream and were so fulfilled. The prices are very reasonable and the flavors are incredibly fun. Reminds me of the same vibe you will find at Salt & Sweet creameries. Loved it!
One of the must-gos in Redlands. The ice cream is made on demand with liquid nitrogen. Theyve expanded their menu. Items include strawberry balsamic, mint, lemon, and even avocado. You dont have to buy a lot-- its more filling than I expect, every time. Fun little stop even if theres almost always a bit of a line.
Ick customer service. Pretentious and tons of limitations.
You have to order ahead, because of the current times (Covid-19), and the only size they offer is the pint size, which forced me to only get one flavor instead of two.
Update:The delivery system seems faulty. Customer service isnt that great. The only redeeming factor seems to be the fact that the flavors in this shop are unique and good. Also the fact that there are dairy free options. That seems more and more the only reason to come back.Original Post:Came here for Valentines Day with my daughter, it was quite a treat! I bought two medium sized ice cream with waffle cones. One of them was chocolate lavender and the other one was chocolate chip, one of their kid friendly flavors. The lavender flavor was very apparent, possibly a turn off to some people but I very much enjoyed it. I didnt think it was too pungent and you could definitely taste the chocolate as well. It was rather decadent, however; a very rich dessert. I tried a bit of my daughters ice cream and the chocolate chip was very delicious, a great alternative for people that would not like to try something like their more extreme blends but that want the same fine quality ice cream. The vanilla was very rich, and the chocolate was speckled throughout to complement it. The only problem we both had was that it was a lot of ice cream for the two of us, and it was melting pretty quickly through the waffle cone. I finished mine in due time, but if you have children then perhaps it would be best to start with their small size ice cream and cups instead of cones. I loved it and cant wait to try more flavors.
Used to be 5/5, but with covid its not worth the price. They pre make stuff, at least the vegan stuff, and it just doesnt have to texture the fresh made ice cream has. Also, you have to order online so do that before going bc they dont even have a chair for you to sit and order on your phone!
Very creative little shop with friendly staff and unique, tasty ice cream flavors! Definitely a fun thing to do with friends and a memorable place to bring your out-of-town guests.
This ice cream brings complete satisfaction to my taste buds. The texture of it is so creamy and smooth. Each flavor I have tried has not fail to amaze me. But my very favorite is the olive oil vanilla bean. I never knew I would like olive oil on my ice cream so much. The employees are always super friendly as well. I drive from the LA area to Redlands to buy pints of this stuff. Simply delicious!
Expensive, but fancy ice cream. The small bowl is $5 - but its a decent size. If you like classy desserts, this is your place. They make the ice cream with liquid nitrogen, so its a fun process to as it looks like a mad scientist making some concoction. The flavors taste very...natural. So the chocolate lavender and the peppermint really taste like plants. Very natural, strong flavors. Nice smooth texture. However, for me, I honestly prefer the cheaper stuff with the unnatural flavors... To me, Rite-Aid mint chocolate chip is nicer than peppermint that tastes like a plant. But thats just me...loads of people love a la minute for its natural tastes!
First to be totally honest Ive only ever had the salted caramel, but its really the best Ive ever had. Place is super tiny and will most always have a line but theyre quick on their orders and get everyone in and out. Definitely have to give it a try
This place was great! We got a medium chocolate lavender ice cream. It was so thick and rich. We were deciding between a medium and a large, and the cashier recommended a medium because it was a big amount of ice cream. I love that he gave us an honest opinion instead of trying to upsell us. The flavors all sound very unique: orange honey, vanilla and olive oil, chocolate lavender, chocolate orange, strawberry balsamic—and then you have your classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint chip. Most popular flavor is salted caramel by far. I recommend it!! $5 for a small, $6 for medium, $8 for large, $10 for pint. $1 extra to get it in a waffle cone, and there are cookie sandwich options.
I’m not even a big ice cream person but the ice cream here is amazing! They are super friendly. The ambiance is great. It’s a little more expensive but worth it.
They keep adding new flavors but my favorite of all time is the espresso chip ice cream. Customer service is good as usual. The place is always busy. Parking could be challenging. Price is on a premium side.
This place is great! Fresh made nitrogen ice cream and sorbets in unique flavors. The salted caramel and orange honey are my favorites. They get very busy around midday and its really small in there.....so it gets hot and crowded between the people standing in line waiting to order and those waiting to pickup. Try it out!
À La Minute Ice Cream? More like À La Hour Ice Cream. I went into the friendly (yes they are very friendly) place. My girlfriend and I got 3 small ice creams and 1 medium ice cream. It was busy at the moment (would have understood why it took 40 minutes) until I witnessed something!!! These employees are constantly talking (I would understand since you would like to talk and work). But one employee was off and one was working, so the one working took forever!!! Focused more on their plans rather then work. And to make my experience worse, the employee who was off was in the back talking, dancing (like she swears she can dance like Kevin Bacon from Footloose) and taking ice cream with her from containers that were meant for the customers. Due to the employees taking forever one of my ice creams became a shake! Still a good place to get ice cream but they really should talk to their employees.....
Truly delicious ice cream! The only reason I could imagine giving it four stars is because the flavor options are very bold. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, but it does mean that you could be less likely to enjoy their full menu, and more likely to just enjoy their coffee option.. the safe one lol. Also, they dont seem to change their flavors often.. like at all. I went there on a few occasions with months in between each appearance and it was the same menu as before. Terrific ice cream nonetheless.
Best ice cream Ive had yet... They make every order FRESH with liquid nitrogen. Mint chip had fresh mint (you can see the flakes!) and a big helping of locally made chocolate from a nearby store. The price was reasonable to, a fairly large medium was the perfect size to split, and only $6.
Best Ice cream. Ever. Buy some. I mean it
The chocolate chip flavored icecream is creamy, sweet and delicious!! I ordered a regular which is 2 scoops. They dont allow you to order more than one flavor in a 2 scoop. They make all their icecream to order which will take some time but well worth the wait!
Very trendy place with very unique ice cream flavors! I have to give it to this place, they are creative with their flavors. I was pleasantly surprised by the chocolate and lavender flavored ice cream. Very fast service even when there was a long line. The price is reasonable for the quality of item you receive.
Ive tried à la Minute many times over the years since it has opened and Im sorry to say Im just not won over on the hype. The menu has interesting and unique flavor combinations and I appreciate the local ingredients, but the execution just leaves a lot to be desired. The vanilla ice cream, which is used in many flavors, is extremely bland--its far more milk flavor than vanilla flavor--and even the cones are quite flavorless and the chocolate is bitter. Im not one to like overly sweet desserts, but they could stand a little more sugar in just about everything. I have had delicious scoops here, just less often than disappointing scoops, and for the high price thats just not acceptable to me. Another major annoyance with this place is that they refuse to give separate flavors in a double scoop. It takes a lot for an ice cream place to disappoint a 5-year-old child, and à la Minute has done it.
Used to me much better. Dont get me wrong quality ice cream and service. But I was a big fan when they had the liquid nitrogen poured in to the liquid mix. Also it made the consistency better. Now it feels too soft. Still a good place to go but it lost a little of its sparkle.
My favorite is the orange honey. We had the V day bouquet today.... Delicious!
There will always be at least a short wait at this unique and alluring ice cream shop. Why? Because they make the ice cream right in front of you with cryogenic liquid nitrogen a la minute. Flavors vary from carefully crafted vanilla to deceptively delicious strawberry balsamic, and they take every opportunity to source local ingredients and flavors into their product. Pricing is reasonable for the portions and quality you receive, definitely a good place to try out.
Delicious ice cream. The Olive Oil Vanilla Bean sounds weird, but is incredibly delicious. A must have when in Downtown Redlands.
A little pricey and totally worth it. Ive had pretty much ever flavor and they are all worth trying. Espresso Chip is my usual go to. Perfect mix of creamy with just a hint of sweetness peeking through the espresso balanced by the chocolate.
First timer here and I have to say the strawberry vinegarette is the best. My husband got the salted caramel and that was so flavorful.
This has to be my favorite ice cream place. I really enjoy their unique flavors like strawberry balsamic and olive oil vanilla bean. They have traditional flavors as well. The ice cream takes the longest to melt Ive seen as well, which is great for my toddler who would rather just hold the ice cream than eat it some days.
