I just had to share that this business is what all should be. I bought my first bike here years ago and put in an order for a new bike. Things changed and I wanted to change my order. The young man that I worked with called and said they were happy to accommodate me, no issues no pressure. There is such a high demand that inventory is low, but he told me hed call me when any bikes became available that would work for me. YOU CANT BEAT, that kind of customer service. They are extremely knowledgeable, patient and work very hard to make your experience a positive one. 10 ********** stars for everyone at Chain Reaction! Thank you all so much.

Exceptional Service. I brought my bike in when there was a ruptured tire and demand for repairs was at its peak. My problem was diagnosed within seconds and I left almost as fast as I came in. Problem solved and fixed within less than 24 hours. My bike was given to me with the original tire although I didnt need it. The people who work here are very honest and the labour for my bike was less than the cost of the part. I have come to chain reaction for all of my bike’s problems for almost a decade now and still have not had a bad experience. Friendly staff. Will come here again. Would highly recommend.

Superb service from highly knowledgeable staff. Kevin took all the pain to find the right drop handle bar for my bike and the staff set up the appointment. Mike explained the other factors related to the problem and the part was replaced in a day. This will be my go to place for specific issues related to Trek.

Theyre always helpful. When our unridden bike had a flat tire, they got right to work and replaced the tube while we watched. Theyre certainly not cheap, but they are quite friendly and helpful.

Super friendly and proactive staff! I placed two orders because I forgot something in the first order and the staff called me to make sure it was intentional. The in-store pickup was seamless and fast! I had to cancel an order so I emailed them and they were super quick to take care of it!

I purchased a townie step through bike from Chain Reaction and had great hopes, after testing it in the parking lot. When I got the bike home, I noticed there was an irritating clicking sound, which I didnt detect in the noisy parking lot of the store. I brought the bike in to the store for its free 30 day check up and mentioned the clicking. A few days later my husband I picked it up and he rode it in the parking lot to see if he could hear the sound. To our amazement, my husband found no braking power whatsoever on the rear brake, which is very dangerous. We mentioned this to the store and they seemed surprised but fixed it. However, they couldnt have done a test ride or they would have discovered the problem.After taking the bike home, I noticed on the quieter street that the clicking sound still remained. On my next ride the seat tilted forward making for a very uncomfortable ride. I cannot believe such simple fixes could be overlooked by the maintenance department. I will never buy another bike from this place. I seriously advise that they review their maintenance procedures before someone gets hurt.My husband purchased his new bike at a store in Santa Cruz. The service couldnt be more opposite. At the moment of purchase they removed the bike to check it completely and adjust everything to my husbands height etc. Wish I had purchased mine in Santa Cruz as well!Mike, as to your response to my review, your answer makes no sense whatsoever. We do not have any knowledge of configuring cables (whatever cables you mean?) nor have any incentive to do so. We had only one issue when we brought the bike in for its service and that was the clicking sound. The brake issue occurred during your service: it was not there before. Whatever cables you are talking about, must have been incorrectly configured when you built the bike in the first place. Had you completely checked the bike or test ridden the bike after your service, you would have discovered the lack of a rear brake and the clicking sound!

The buying process could not have been easier and the entire store was extremely friendly and helpful. They were able to not only help me with my new bike, but also help my wife find a new and more comfortable saddle for her bike.

I appreciate their emphasis on safety during the pandemic. The new location is spacious, with ample parking, and the staff are expert and friendly. Prices are reasonable & its a local, family-owned business.

Earlier today I brought my 5th grade neighbor Andrew to your store to have his old bike inspected and to look at new bikes. Keven spent a considerable amount of time with us providing excellent information and advice. I am so very appreciative. We came away with a new helmet as Andrews old helmet was cracked. Steve was extremely helpful when I was purchasing my Trek AL 3. He understood that I was a rookie getting into the biking scene and was very patient in explaining how the bike worked and how to adjust it, even before the sale.Steve explained in detail the differences between the bikes and what type of consumer purchases each type. Steve went straight to the bike I would get the most value out of, and didnt unnecessarily try to up-sell me on a bike that may have been more glamorous but wouldnt give as much bang-per-buck for an amateur biker, which I greatly appreciated.Chain Reaction is lucky to have a trustworthy, patient, and diligent guy like Steve on the team.

Exceptional staff both before Shelter in Place (SIP) and during! Ive come here several times over the last year and everyone has been extremely helpful and friendly. In contrast, Ive been to other bike shops that seem a little pretentious and rude - almost as if me being there is a nuisance to them (strange right?). Their prices are reasonable, staff is knowledgeable and general vibe here is always pleasant. Also, they have a great system set up during SIP that is organized and efficient.

Mike was knowledgeable and helpful, walking me through differences in bikes and my various options. The crank arm had busted off my bike and found myself searching for the nearest and open shop. I was fortunate Chain Reaction Bicycles was near and open for another 30 minutes. Walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and promptly asked how they could help. Withing minutes my bike was repaired but felt bad at how inexpensive it was that I wanted to give them more of my business. Several upgrades later, seat, new pedals, and a water bottle, I was well on my way with new life in my bike. I cant wait to see them again. Highly recommend you visit them. They had all the parts needed and incredibly well versed in the world of cycling.

The person who helped with my bike pickup was welcoming, kind, and thorough. She even installed the water bottle cage and wiped down the bike before handing it to me. I did not buy top of the line bike. I bought an entry level bike.

I went in on a Saturday and staff was very helpful in showing me bikes that would fit my needs and testing one out. The following Monday I returned to purchase said bike, and the associates were helpful and pleasant, and assisted me with choosing a variety of biking accessories I needed (helmet, lights, gloves, lock). I prefer to patronize small businesses and will definitely be bringing my business back here in the future!

Kind of pricey but I have no complains about the things I have bought. The lock and phone holder I bought for my bike have been amazing so far! And well thanks to Jonathan for showing me around. He was the one who has helped me both times I have gone. I have been there only two times and have been very impressed with the customer service they have. Keep up the good work!

This is the best place to buy a bicycle and we’ve bought 3 so far. This is a family run business and they are all cyclists, and it shows in their customer care. When I was having issues with my bike, they eagerly tried new things to make it right and didn’t even charge me. They are the friendliest place around and you’ll enjoy spending time with them (hard to call it working) whether you’re buying a bike, looking for accessories or needing service.

The Treks Chain Reaction sells are great bikes that come in a variety of styles, shapes and sizes. Your sales people are very responsive to the customers need and quickly learn what kind and size bike you are seeking and with what features and how to outfit it in your service shop with the right accessories . And all this comes at very competitive prices. And if you bike needs service or repairs, Chain reaction will provide it swiftly, skillfully, and cheaply.

The owners are very patient and informative, taking their time to listen to the customer. Steve helped me find the right road bike to fit my needs, measured me to determine the correct size frame and adjusted the bike specifically for me. He did not charge me for new handlebars because the ones that came stock were too wide. I would highly recommend this bike shop, for anything from simple repairs to buying a bike!

Chain Reaction is a great bike shop! What makes it even better is that the owner is a knowledgeable and friendly cycling enthusiast himself. I learned many good biking routes around the area from him. I can meet him once in a while on the ride. He even helped me with a puncture once. Wonderful guy! Highly recommend this shop!

This is modern and state-of-the art family-owned and run bicycle shop in Redwood City, that offers great products, friendly, knowledgeable and hands-on service. You can be a Tour de France competitor, or someone just buying their first bicycle, and the attention they give you is the same! They genuinely do their best to make sure you leave their store happier than when you entered. Its service and camaraderie you just cant get with online shopping. Visit them soon and often! :-)

Mike went the extra mile and answered my email on a Sunday night and I was able to pick up my bike the next day. They helped me with accessories and were out of stock of the mirror that would be best for my bike so they wrote down the brand and model for me to order online instead of selling me something that wasn’t as good for my bike - I wouldn’t have known the difference so I appreciate the good business practices they use.

With Chain Reaction, you can get your questions answered, buy something you need, get your bike serviced, and be out of there quickly.

I have been going to Chain Reaction for all my cycling needs for a long time. I love the quality Trek and Bontrager products. Also the service is always friendly and prompt and focused on getting the products or service I need. Simple repairs are taken cake of quickly right on the main floor and they stand behind their work.

TL;DR Top notch customer service, parts on the expensive side.Ive stopped in a handful of times to ask a question or get advice on a part and every single time that whole staff is 100% willing to help, even when I dont have any intention of buying anything. They know their stuff and they love helping you out. The one drawback to the store is that the parts they sell tend to be a bit on the expensive side, but it might be worth it to pay the extra to help out a more local store.

This is a lovely little business. I came in to buy a bike, knowing nothing about bikes but knowing vaguely what I wanted, and they were so kind and helpful getting me set up. They were very knowledgeable about the products and helped me get good value for my money. Bike stores can be intimidating if youre not already part of cycling culture, but at this shop I felt comfortable asking questions and choosing my favourite accessories even if they werent the first thing recommended. I will go back here for all things bike-related.

Little did I know that the most thing to consider to when buying a bike is the shop you get it from! I lucked out. I not only bought a bike, I bought the best bike shop ever. The staff are all riders, and I count on them for excellent advice--from the most basic questions to the most advanced. They stand behind their products, and instantly exchange or rectify anything that doesnt perform as advertised. And they will adjust the bike for as long as you own it! That way, they make sure it fits, and it is as comfortable to ride as possible. (They adjusted mine at least 6 times, until the fit was dialed in. And when I had ridden that one a couple of years, I got another that was twice as expensive! (And twice as much fun on long rides.)

A great local shop for buying or servicing bikes.I bought my first (and currently only) road bike here nine years ago. That bike has seen a lot use but its still going strong and the staff at Chain Reaction helps me keep it that way. Ive found them to be friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.I like to fix most of my bike problems myself and theyve always steered me in the right direction for parts, tools, and/or DIY advice. They usually have the parts that I needed on hand, and in the couple case where they didnt they were able to special order them. Theres also been a few occasions where Ive left the bike with them for service, and theyve always done a great job.My wife subsequently bought a bike from them, an they will be my first stop when Im back in the market for a new bike.
