Loved this store! They have many unique items. I really enjoyed walking around. If you’re looking for a gift this is the place for you. Only negative part is it’s pretty pricey but tons of rare finds. Covid precautions are in place with mandatory masks and hand sanitizer when you walk in

I would give this place five stars if it wasnt so expensive. I love everything in the store and its a great place to find a gift for someone, but the prices are ridiculous. Favorite thing they have is wrapping paper that works perfectly as a poster.

Really unique gift shop with a great variety of novel items. The management/staff clearly made a concerted effort to ensure the atmosphere and selection of items is inclusive for everyone. Im impressed that this business is celebrating 30 years, while also broadcasting the big social issues were facing now (with a sense of humor).

Mongrel has beautiful cards, stationary, paper, jelly cat brand stuffies, fun and interesting gifts and books that felt inclusive for a diverse audience. Highly recommend.

It was so nice to place an order online, which arrived the next and was packaged lovingly. Their selection of cards, socks, and Jellycats is incomparable. Fantastic place full of all kinds of gifts. If you can find something here, and a card to go with it, the person youre buy for doesnt need anything. 😁 They gave a huge selection of novel gift, practical and fun gifts. Great friendly staff that are really helpful and knowledgeable. You can get lost for an hour or two in there and have a great time. Everything is reasonably priced too! 😉

Super cute store downtown. They have a lot of quirky knick knacks. This is a good place to grab a gift for someone. My only qualms are their prices ($4 for a small sticker, $40 for a reusable water bottle), and they don’t have a restroom for customers.

The art of curation has been swept under the rug. Two day delivery reigns as both king and jester.But Mongrel stands apart. Smart and current items fill this small shop from head to tail. Cards for every occasion, bizarre bespoke wrapping paper, beautiful pieces of local art, fun political satire, inappropriate gifts for your Mom. And more, really.

The best! Eclectic selection of awesome, quirky, fun, and artistic things. A great place to find a card or a gift for any occasion, or for yourself, as I try not to do every time I go in there. The staff is very helpful but Ive never had anyone push anything on me or follow me around the store; they are there and knowledgeable, but will let you just absorb whats around you while youre trying to browse. Parking can be a little challenging, but as long as you are aware of this its not a problem. Besides, its a wonderful place to be on foot! Keep your eyes peeled for their sales, and for the pooches that sometimes come in to visit.

Mongrel is a fun shop to find gifts. There is something for everyone. Lots of randomness you would never think of. They have nice gifts, and quirky gifts. Its one of my go tos for Christmas shopping. Parking is not impossible to find.

Great selection of greeting cards, seasonal items, home decor, fun kitchen or bath items, candles etc. The staff is helpful even when it gets busy especially over weekends and holidays

Mongrel has a unique selection of gifts and cards, though most of their products are overpriced. I understand that a company must make profits, but some of the prices are too high for me. Also, even though I am a clumsy person, I have found it difficult to walk through the store, as merchandise is in the path of travel for customers. It is hard to avoid knocking a delicate object off of the surrounding shelves when moving around the store. If you are in a wheelchair, pushing a stroller, or have small children, watch out due to the fact that the walkways are small and not easy to manuver around.

The BEST place for great greeting cards and gifts. This is my go-to place for birthday presents and some friends and I have an annual Carytown Christmas Shopping Day where we get brunch then shop. This is the first place we go every time. I usually leave with something for myself, too.

The next time Im looking for Virginia gifts to send out of town, Im coming here. They have a better selection than Virginia gift shops. Personalized Richmond post cards--are you kidding me? And pretty much the same for astronomy--they have a small section of unique gifts with an astronomy theme. Lordy Kates and Heavens to Betsy.

The store is one of my favorite places on Earth. I rarely make it out for under $100 worth of greeting cards, unique gifts, and funny stuff for myself.

Great store for unique greeting cards and trinket gifts, both artsy and ribald. Lots of laugh-out-loud politically incorrect greeting cards and tchotchkes, mostly from a liberals perspective. This is the kind of place you go into for browsing and a chuckle but somehow end up buying a little gem you didnt need, but tickles your fancy enough to want to open you wallet.

Since late 1992 after serving in the U.S. Navy, I started going to Mongrel as my local source for greeting cards, soy candles and other eco-friendly household items. A few months ago I purchased a brass telescope as a birthday gift, and a few days ago I bought a specialty birthday card imbedded with wildflower seeds. That birthday card can be torn up a planted, so the gift continues! This store has such a wide variety of unique high quality merchandise, and I love supporting a high quality local businesses like this one!
