Cant say enough about how awesome this place and owner is. Currently it is by appointment only but well worth scheduling one. The owner is an awesome guy to talk to about collectibles and especially wrestling. There is something for every collector from prestine to out of the box action figures. The prices are great and he definitely caters to the individual collector. If you are just looking to find something and flip it yo make a few dollars go somewhere else. This store is for the person who truly enjoys the items and enjoys the stories that come with them. Cant wait to come back and do some more exploring and shopping for me, my wife, and my kids!!!!!

Came here not sure what to expect. Walking in felt like stepping back in time to my childhood. This place is without a doubt the coolest comic/ toy store I have ever been in. Staff was super friendly and insightful which was awesome as Im new to collecting. Its obvious the owner is super passionate about his craft and anyone interested in comics and toys would be making a mistake not to visit here.

Huge selection of Star Wars and other great toys, I really enjoyed going through the selection of figures and I loved how he had the loose figures sorted out, it made for a very easy process of selecting top notch items for my collection! Would highly recommend!

Visited this place with my son & nephew and they were literally kids in a candy store. Convinced my boyfriend to come check it out and he drove down from Richmond just to see if it was legit. He was so impressed, he spent a couple hundred on that visit and has returned with friends from Richmond at least twice for collectibles. I even snagged a collectible hes been wanting since childhood as a birthday gift.I live in Iowa but anytime Im in Roanoke, Ill always make a point to stop by, never know what I may find.

First off, I want to say that The Basement Toys & Comics is by far my favorite place to go for all of my collecting needs. There is so much awesome stuff in that store and the prices are excellent!! Plus, when you have any questions, the owner is exceptionally helpful and very nice. Great customer service and cool conversation is just a couple of many of reasons why I enjoy going there(Could write a few paragraphs on why I like The Basement Toys & Comics so much). If youve never been there before, take my word for it and go. Best toy/comic shop in the area!!

My son loves this place, and I enjoy the nostalgia of toys from my long-ago youth you can discover. Owner is always up-to-date on all new/old stock coming in, has learned our preferences, and is friendly and very aware of a huge variety of subjects. Son always finds that special Star Wars item needed for his customizing or photo shoots. Appointments during Covid have been easy to get and provide a great sense of comfort. This is a GREAT place, and we recommend it highly.

There is absolutely nowhere else like the Basement. When I was a kid, I couldnt afford to go to most comic shops--I would mostly just slip away and read comics at Kroger and WalMart while helping mom shop.Then a couple of comic book locations around Roanoke and Salem started having 10 cent comic sales and I finally started collecting.I am on the autism spectrum, never fit in, and always felt super awkward and anxious around my peers. Comics were a much needed escape and a bit of an obsession.There really arent any other comic shops these days that are able to cater to kids like I was like the Basement does. Most are out to make a buck and rip people off as much as they can. The Basement is different.With few exceptions (like B&D) its like the Basement is the Bailey Building and Loan while everywhere else is owned by Potter from Its a Wonderful Life.

This is the best and top place to shop for any child with in the Roanoke VA city.I highly recommend this store to any shopping for there children, nieces, nephews and cousins.My son was very hurt and crushed to hear that the basement was closed for temporary time.He was very brokin and upset.It took me hours to calm him down .I felt his pain .Even tho I am a 35yr old man .The basement holds my childhood as well.I turn so excited Everytime I see something from my childhood I havent seen in years.I am right along with my, girlfriend I am connected with the store .And have been a true dedicated customer since the was in happys.I thank the owner JUSTIN for always being so heart warming to my son.I appreciate what he truly did for my sons birthday.And Im forever grateful for the love he has shown for years.All of us that love the basement and know what it truly means to have something special and incredible In our lives.We Never wanna see the basement leave.I dont care what store that thinks it can compete.YOU WILL NEVER EQUAL AND MATCH TO THE BASEMENT!Love Corey B❤️❤️❤️

Not only is this the best comic and toy spot in town its one of if not the best in all of the mid-atlantic. Ive been to shops more states than I havent, most of Canada and even Australia. I wouldnt trade any of them for The Basement. The variety of modern and vintage, moc or loose, etc along w the prices and all business is done IN the store is why!

Was visiting from out of town, found this amazing hidden gem on williamson rd. you have to make a appointment to go in right now because of the pandemic, but let me tell you, it’s worth it! guy running the guy running the store, justin guilliams, was extremely nice and accommodating. this store was massive, two very large rooms of every action figure you could think of from late 80s - contemporary. came up on a lot of Star Wars figs that’s I’ve been wanting and it was all decently priced.if you’re a collectible hunter, this a must go spot. thank you justin !

Absolutely one of the best comic and toy shops I have visited; and I used to work at one while attending high school in Texas. Justin is very accommodating and friendly. He was attentive to my questions and pointed me in the right direction of whatever I was looking for. I’ve read the negative reviews about this place and 100% disagree with their claims. 1) everything is priced and if by any chance it isn’t (I didn’t run into this issue) all you have to do is ask. 2) yes there are some “do not touch” signs; but, it’s justifiable to a collector (like me) trying to protect their investment. 3) if you call and respectfully ask for an appt. you will be accommodated. My first time there I didn’t know it was appt. only; so, I called and told him my scenario (I’m not from the area and would only be there the day) and was scheduled an appt. same day (actually 10 minutes from the time I called). If you’re in the Roanoke area, don’t skip this place as it’s a collectors dream. Thank you for all the help Justin.

This store has a great selection of old toys. A lot of my favorites from the 1980s. They have the best prices on older comic books in town. Justin is always helpful. Great place to feel nostalgic. Everything from Wrestling to Star Wars, He-man to G.I. Joe and every Super Hero under the sun.

I love this store!The Basement has the best selection of back issues I have found.. well.. anywhere. If you spend any amount of time in there, he will show you items that are in the same vein as what you currently collect. I have collections that I never would have even thought of without him saying, If you like that run, youd probably enjoy this, or, if you like that artist, let me show you some of his other work.He is very knowledgeable and can talk comics like someone from the geek squad can talk PC specs.Thats not even taking into account the toys. You will be hard pressed to find an inventory as impressive as the one in this store.If you like collectibles or, like me, are trying to fill gaps in your collection, then this store is a must-visit.

Hands down the best place to shop for comics and vintage toys. My son asks to visit there on a weekly sometimes daily basis. The prices are amazing with a ton of below $10 options which is a great reward for good behavior for a young comic lover. The comic book section is the most impressive I have seen in Roanoke and the owner Justin is always friendly and helpful. The toys bring my back to my youth. We enjoy ever visit and look forward to the next one each time. Definitely worth a trip out to see.

I would recommend calling ahead before you go because sometimes the owner is out and the store isn’t open, but that is understandable with any small business. Aside from that this is easily the best collectible and comic book store spot in Roanoke, and I have been to all of the ones that I know of. The owner does a tremendous job with keeping the store organized at all times and has been extremely helpful every time I have ever been in. You can tell how hard he works and that factor makes it easy to want to come back. There is a huge selection and something can be found for any shopper, I highly recommend stopping in no matter what your interests are. This store deserves all the high praise it receives. A lot of great comics, anime, sci-fi, books/ movies/ toys; both new and vintage. It is kid friendly for the most part, but if you look around enough in any comic store these days you will find material not suitable for children right on the shelf within reach. This store probably has the largest selection of older back issues in the area and certainly one of the best collections of vintage toys. Probably the only store with 25 cent comics boxes still in Roanoke.

Great Experiences Dealing with these guys. They go above and beyond, especially when i take my nephews in there, looking for Wrestling Figures. Prices are VERY FAIR for the level of collectibles and based off the condition of said collectible. Cant reccomend them enough!!!!! 😁😁😁

Justin runs a great store! if you have had a negative experience with him then you probably deserved it. Great selection of merchandise, fair pricing and extremely knowledgeable. The Basement is by far and away the best toy and comic shop I have visited. Justin runs a legit business and runs it the right way. You could go to some other local places and get ripped off by people who are just there to take your cash- but I say go to The Basement and give Justin your money-hes a great local business owner and he deserves the support.

Remember the collection of high value Lego models I wanted to sell elsewhere? I sold them here. Its a very fine place, though the guy running it seems to be dealing with a lot of problems in life. Buy something here and help him out! I give a good recommendation.

I feel good vibes from the guy at this wonderful store, and feel good about selling Billys stuff to him because I feel he is genuinely a good dude and my little brother would be pleased. I highly recommend The Basement to any and everybody looking to get a good deal on selling or buying. Id like to add that, Im gathering up more of my brothers things to take to this awesome place. I finally got to make it out to this shop. Found some rarer items and got a chance to see some items that I haven’t seen before or forgot about from my childhood. Store is awesome and the owner was a solid dude. I am glad I live two hours away or I would spend too much money here. Haha! Call before you make the trip to make sure they are open. It’s a one-man show, do things come up. Highly recommended shop!

Guy treated me like I was dumb for the price I asked for my Gi Joe stuff but was selling the same thing for 10 times the amount. I felt like I wasnt welcome after not taking his insane low offer. I guess he wanted it for free. Very awkward and uncomfortable moment.

Its better than many of the comic book stores Ive been to, has a lot of cheap older comics as well as some older rare comics. There was also some older video games and consoles when I went including a SEGA Genesis.

Cool place if youre into collecting toys from the 70s 80s and 90s. Waaaay too many do not touch signs. Just put those items on display where they cant be reached! Prices seem ok but Ive never found anything I really wanted to buy.
