NO SUPPORT!I was given an item purchased from Historic Houseparts by another party. The box was sealed and the pick ticket was still in a sealed pocket on the outside of the box. When I opened the box there were some small parts missing. The person responding to my email, regarding replacement of those parts, was extremely difficult to work with and insisted I needed to buy the parts from them. She never gave me a price for the parts, either.
Purchased a light fitter online and overall the quality was cheap, it was clearly returned previously and the mounting hardware was bent and missing the correct screws.
The shades I ordered are fantastic, they look even better now that I have them than they did on the website. I had an issue with my original order and they took care of everything, the customer service was excellent.
Looking for glass chimneys for wall sconces in my 106-year-old house. Found them at historic house parts. Website said they were in stock. I ordered them with two day shipping. After two days I checked by email and they said they did not have them in stock. And it would be several weeks before they did. And then they would have to ship them. I canceled my order on that day.I received confirmation by email from historic house parts that my order would be canceled and my money would be refunded through PayPal. That did not happen. It took multiple emails and finally having to file a dispute with PayPal before my money was finally refunded well over two weeks later. If I had not stayed on them, I am confident they would not have refunded my money. I wanted to purchase from a small business, but this hassle is not worth it. I got what I wanted through Amazon in one day.Buyer beware.
I ordered a cabinet latch from this company a month ago and paid for 2 day shipping. The item has not shipped and I have received no update from this company despite trying to contact them three different ways. They did process my credit card so I dont know what the hold up is here, but I would definitely avoid buying from this company. Will be reporting them to the BBB shortly if I dont receive an update on my order and/or a refund.
What a Gem to have in the City! They have literally everything you could ever ask for inside and next door in their barn. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly. Price’s are fair given how unique theirpieces are. I just bought a 1920 colonial and I had so many questions (I wanted to bring my house back to its former glory) and the staff was so helpful. Plus the building itself is super cool. Highly recommended!!!
We drove 1-1/2 hours because they were the only ones with the vintage kitchen sink we were looking for. Will definitely be back!
Love this place. Love this place. Love this place.
On Aug 7 I ordered a 6 light fitter/fixture. After waiting weeks for it to ship I contacted them and was told it was delayed from their supplier and that they would notify me when they knew when I would get it. They never contacted me again. Weeks later I started hounding them online about it, and they admitted that they knew it was going to arrive at their shop on Sep 8 (more than a month after purchase) and that the gave me an email to contact to see when I would get it to decide whether I wanted a refund or to continue waiting. I never got a response. A few days later I got a package in the mail and its not even the correct part. These people are clearly unprofessional, dont know how to communicate with their customers, and have no idea what theyre doing.
Very friendly & super helpful staff! My Victorian Ornate Rim Locks arrived so swiftly in excellent condition. This company is FILM FRIENDLY!
Simple, basic lighting parts not in stock. Ordered on 5 Oct and emailed a follow up and no reply. Emailed a much longer inquiry and still nothing. Finally called today and canceled my order. First and last time I will order from here. If you dont stock basic parts, stop taking orders. Also, engage with you customers, I could have gotten these elsewhere in this amount of time - and I am taking into account your own sites 7-10 day lead time.
I asked for help several times from a staff member who was not busy at all. She couldnt be bothered. I asked if a few things were in stock, she answers maybe! I told her the color I liked size I needed and how many. She was not at all interested.
I placed an order with Historic Houseparts for some light fixtures. Though this wasnt made clear to me at the time that I ordered, some of the fixtures were not in stock. After waiting a couple of weeks and not getting any definitive information about when they might arrive, I cancelled the order (with Historic Houseparts agreement). It is now coming up on 2 months and I have yet to receive a refund. While the company agrees that a refund is due and promises to issue one, they do not follow through with the actual money.I urge all consumers to avoid doing any business with Historic Houseparts.
One of my favorite shops to go. They have all sorts of great pieces for older and historic houses. They also supply newer stuff too that looks vintage like door knobs, latches, locks, pieces for fixtures, you name it. They are really professional and will help with anything. All you have to do is ask. This place is a gold mine.
I had a glass pane repaired on a storm door. They were reasonably priced and quick. Friendly staff and a cool selection of original and replica house parts. There are 3 buildings in total, the two outer buildings are rather disorganized but fun to walk through if youre hunting for something unique.
I absolutely think that the customer service here is amazing. I have always had great experiences with them. Had to return some parts that I never ended up even picking up and they without hesitation refunded me and were super helpful
Timeline of my order:Ordered 5/22 and paid by credit cardTold to allow 4-6 weeks for deliveryShip date scheduled for 7/5Never received material or updates by 8/1Called or emailed daily and still no answer on status other than vendor should be sending soon.Still no answers on 8/6. After asking to speak to a manager they miraculously found the box sitting in their office, unopened.Thumbs down.
I have used this company many times refurbishing our 1896 Inn and commercial stores for the past 20 years. Lots of fun hidden treasures!
Very interesting place to shop for those hard to find or unique items. Also just a fun place to poke around. Expect to pay a little extra though.
I ordered some ceiling canopies for a friend who changed her mind. The return was delivered over 5 weeks ago and I still have not seen a refund. I have sent two emails questioning the status, and have seen no reply. BEWARE!
I purchased some antique pocket door hardware on their website for a renovation Im working on. When the package arrived there was only one door pull. The description upon closer inspections said that it came as a pair but also said it came as just one. I was under the impression that they came as a pair so emailed back. Cindy got back to me right away acknowledging the mistake on their part and sent off the additional door pull at no additional cost and they paid the shipping cost to Canada.Ive been in e-commerce transactions in the past where the company basically tells you a deal is a deal, but these guys really made things right. I wont think twice about doing business with them again and will be paying them a visit in person when Im in Rochester this August. A standup business with excellent customer service.Would recommend them to anyone.- Ryan in Toronto
I loved this place...nothing but beautiful antiques and older home styles.....prices were good...and selection was incredible.....staff was also inc r easily helpful as well!!!
Staff is friendly - some great stuff hidden in the barn. always willing to tell you a story behind a piece fi they know it! off-street parking, which is nice!
They had the tile I was looking for very reasonable very helpful they were almost closing in a still waited on me
I ordered some cabinet hinges recently. They arrived quickly, but the build quality and level of finish was disappointing and did not reflect the pictured item on their website. I called them to discuss returning them and they said they would consider a full refund. A few weeks later, they only refunded a portion of the purchase, but I feel they shouldve refunded the full amount due to the misrepresentation on their website. Very disappointed in their lack of customer service. Will not be shopping here again.
Went to the store to look for some hard to find parts, and there they were. The staff was friendly and helpful. A great store
Service is ok if you know what you want. They could be a bit more friendly.
Great fun! Loved going through the store, looking at the goods there. Want to go back!
Selection is wonderful, prices are high, need some people skills behind the counter.
I really like their selection of eco-friendly household products. I tried the lampshade puff and it cleared an impressive amount of dust off several lampshades.
Very friendly atmosphere! Though I did not purchase anything, I will definitely return.
Chris at the front is pretty rude and dismissive. Lacks ANY customer service skills.
NEVER AGAIN. The photo on Historic Houseparts website of the picture rail hooks I purchased does not truly represent the shape very well, and it turns out that the hooks are entirely unusable. The customer service manager wont admit that the product is defective, so they wont pay for return shipping. Not only that, there is a 20% restock fee. What a a mistake it was to ever shop here.
Very helpful,. Huge supply of antique hardware
Awesome and amazing! Could spend hours here!!
Why are you never open on Sunday? Isnt that when homeowners shop for house items.
Have an old home and looking for that one obscure part to match the rest of your house? How about older stuff for that one-off project? This is the place for you.
4 Separate buildings with tons of stuff.
Great selection of new and old
Service was not very good; didnt have any of my questions answered in substantial ways, I wasnt helped looking for and identifying the specific items that I wanted.
Overpriced, and wont pay anywhere near a fair price for something they will resell for big moneyGo to Rehouse instead !
Mail order took a long time to fill (before mailing), I think it was 8 days. Product was as advertised.
