First time here and will definitely be back. Feels great to support local while feeding my book addiction. Books are organized by author rather than genre, which makes it a little challenging, but I love the thrill of the hunt. Owner/ person working was extremely nice and helpful. Shop was a little cluttered due to unpacking of boxes, but that was not a big deal to me. Walked away with some great selections!

Reading this book transported me to my younger age and it made me rethink all the experiences of my childhood as well as the happenings good and bad over the years. I left India when i was 21 years of age following my husband and now 39 years later with my parents joining their maker wonder what life would have been if I never left. That does not mean I have regrets but reading the book made me realize the lack of intricate understanding of my mom and her fears, happiness, on a personal level more as grown ups and friends...A great read

Bought three cards from here the other day. Fair pricing and brought me down memory lane to the cards shops I went to as a kid. Cool spot for card collectors!PS. Owner is a great guy, easy to work with, and very knowledgeable.

I typically don’t like leaving reviews, especially negative ones. But this time I really had too. For a small town, you’d expect local spots to be honest and extremely friendly. This was exactly what this place USE to be. Sadly Idk what has happened within the past year, but the prices have been extremely raised. We understand business owners have to make a living and survive during these times, but holy cow! If you’re going to sell items for prices I can easily find online, why bother? Seems like greed had overtook and will no longer be supporting this. I’d rather make a drive further out of town if anything.

They have tons of great sports cards for amazing prices I went there one time and was 3 dollars short and he still let me have it he is so awesome I recommend this shop for all collectors

By far the best customer service/prices I’ve ever come upon in the state of Minnesota. Could not have asked for a better experience on my first visit and can’t wait to go back tomorrow. No scams no bs just honest business and endless amazing stories

I came into The Book Review shop Saturday and got one of the worst experiences Ive ever had at a Local Comic/Card Shop. I dont live in the area, but ive visited the store a few times and enjoyed it. I came in and traveled over an hour away to visit your shop. I browsed through your Basketball and Football boxes all of which had no prices. Which is fine and proceeded to wait while you comped all the prices from ebay or whatever website you use to get pricing. After which the owner left the cards on the counter. I took the cards I wanted and left the one I didnt want on the counter where he had put them. At the register the owner asked, what did you do to the rest of the cards? I told him, I left them over there on the counter where you put them. He then proceeded to give me one the rudest and most unprofessional remarks Ive ever heard from a shop owner, He said, Oh..like Im not busy enough already...this is why I dont want people going through the boxes. First off, if you dont want people to go through the boxes dont put them out in public, then offer to check on pricing. Second, returning and restocking inventory is part of YOUR job and business. Its not mine as a customer. I dont work there. I would have been happy to put the cards back as a courtesy if you had nicely suggested so. The owner was very busy, but I suggest that if the stress of dealing with all that work gets to the point where youre treating your customers like this then you should get more help in your store. I wont be back.

Ive started going to book review late last year after getting back into magic the gathering. Im there every week. I cant tell you how great the owner is you have to experience it yourself. You cant get a better price in town for magic.

Me and a couple of my buddies was supporting this shop since the pandemic started, because we knew small business needed the support... but not anymore. The prices on sealed product are now double or triple the price, especially Pokémon cards and with no shame. Everything is based of eBay prices. Is this a eBay store front now? Or a scalper with a store front? This place was the link in town for real collectors to get them at retail or atleast close to retail since all the scalpers would grab them at Walmarts and targets before anyone could get the chance. It’s just sad. Got us thinking, now why would we buy from book review for triple the price when some of these scalpers are selling for cheaper? We get it, you need to make a living, but doubling and tripling the price... really? Welp, back to buying it at retail from Walmart and target if we get lucky.

Owner is a nice guy! Store center is a bit messy but I went there to buy sports cards, price was good and left. He threw in some free protectors - which was very kind. Didnt have a chance to look closely at books or other merch but seemed he had a large selection.

I really wanted to love this place, it looks like its full of interesting stuff. I asked the owner if they could obtain a monthly comic for me, from overseas. Its close to my house, so next month I swung by the store, to ask if my comic had arrived. The owner was apologetic, it hadnt come in, hed get for next month instead. Which is fine, stuff happens. So I called in the next month, same deal. And the next. For five or six months this happened. If he couldnt or didnt want to get that title, Id have preferred if hed just told me. This was a couple of years ago. I havent been back since.

Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Always insightful with new releases and ideas.

Excellent Customer Service!I stop in to buy graphic novels and novelty items for family freinds at holidays, but I also like to pick up books. Recently, I was taking a flight and needed a book. I had no time to research so I stopped in to Book Review. Craig recommended several titles based on what I wanted... An easy to read but not cheesy novel. He hit the mark perfectly! Such a great read. Book Review has wonderful unique gifts as well!

Its messy, but great. Wide variety of stuff, and the guy that runs it is friendly and cool. Great to visit if youre visiting Rochester and want to look around at comics, trading cards, sports cards, or other nerdy type interests.

Worth stopping in for a visit. A very friendly and helpful owner and a varied array of merchandise at a reasonable price. Plenty of available parking and easy to see and access from the road.

Went in a couple months ago to get some antique football cards looked at and they said the only way they would find the value is if they were guaranteed to buy some of the cards at a price they come up with. Came off very demanding and left me with no options as I was already planning on selling them to the store. As hard as it is to find places like these it was a real disappointment that they didn’t want to do their job without an incentive. Not to mention the mess and unorganized place they try to sell things out of. I wouldnt of brought my cards in if I wasnt going to sell them. Better customer service wouldve resulted in a sale.

I went in to return a product that wasnt what my boyfriend wanted. The owner got furious with me told me he wouldnt return an unopened, undamaged product. He told me everyone knows that he doesnt do returns and its posted and that he tells everyone at every transaction. He never told me, there are no signs about no returns and not everyone goes knows (obviously). He was extremely rude told me never to come back to his store and continued to yell at me. I have worked in retail for 20 years. That is definitely not how you treat someone. The product that I bought is also something that is common to the store. He will be able to resell it. I do not feel bad.

I came into this comic shop and immediately noticed that the place was insanely cluttered. There were binders and cards stacked on top of comic boxes. The man working there (maybe the owner?) said that he was working on inventory. I had to move a couple things, but finally found a comic that I liked. It had a price tag on it ($5). I told the man working there that I wanted to purchase the comic, and he looked at it, seemed confused, and asked me where I found it. I showed him, and he told me that the comic I found was part of a collection that he hadnt worked through and priced yet, and the comic wasnt for sale. 1) Ive never been to a comic shop where they had comics out on the sales floor that werent for sale. 2) If you have that many comics to sort through, I would recommend you keep them in the back and put them on the sales floor as you price them. Overall, it was the most disappointed Ive ever been with any comic shop (and Ive been to many). Im basing my score on a comic book shops ability to sell me a comic book, which this one was unwilling to.

Wooooow this place is a must-see for comic book enthusiasts and voracious readers. The entire back section of the room is dedicated to selling used books, which consists largely of romance and fantasy/sci-fi novels. The comic book selection is massive and impressive. Manga lovers, you can get some really good deals here. They package up sets (so like, ten volumes of one series, maybe twenty of another) which you can buy for cheap. And of course, plenty of table top games to choose from. The owner is also extremely friendly.

Great service just a bit messy.

This store is horrible. There is no organization to speak of, books are stacked on every available surface any which way, in boxes on the floor. The counter area is far too large for the space, and has what looks like garbage strewn on the floor alongside merchandise. The used book section needs to figure out what it is--a hint, if you bill yourself as a comics and games store with used books, maybe you should only purchase the kinds of used books your customers are interested in. If you bill yourself as a used bookstore with some games and comics, otoh, perhaps take better care of your primary stock. But, what do I know? I only moved here from a town with a great game/comic shop and a great used book store. But seriously, I feel dirty every time I walk into this place, I can never find what I am looking for because of the lack of organization, and I dont want to ask for help because then I would have to stand in that mess even longer.lAlso, looking through the reviews and how many people give this place 5*s, and call it Great, the only thing I can think of is that Rochester natives do not know what a decent used book stores actually looks like.

Fantastic classic comic book, sports card and game shop

We were to have a sports card case break at 3pm at his store and he decided to do the case break earlier with me paying the $70 ahead of time. He didnt call me to inform me they were gonna break earlier than expected so I could be there for the break. I use to buy alot from him in the past but I wont anymore. Thanks

Great customer service. Im not going to knock a star but the Trading card selection, particularly Pokemon, is low but I understand the Rochester market is not great for it.

Came up for the week to take my wife to the Mayo Clinic. We were looking for local book stores and hobby shops in the area. He had some older 1st and 2nd edition books by the door with no prices. When I inquired about the price of one he looked it up online and quoted me the highest price he found.Went back the next day to check about the prices of the other books since they were more common and again he stated that he would charge me the EBay Buy it Now prices. He seemed to bothered to look them up and when I asked for a buy them all price he seemed very angered and shooed me out the door.Not sure why he doesnt price his items or why he doesnt just list them online since he doesnt seem to wanting to entertain offers on used books.He never did give me a price on any of it except the first book from the first day.
