Good food good price friendly staff bad parking lot.

Great little diner. Good diner style food, service is usually friendly. Ive been here many times, and the specials are usually good, with an interesting variety of breakfast specials on the weekends. A lot of the medical student and residents from the teaching hospital nearby will eat here, as do many local business folks. The owner and staff have often given sandwiches or hot coffee to some of the local folks who are down on their luck, and treat them with kindness and decency, which says a lot about the people who run this place. Theyre also kind to students; when I was in college I spent many a mid-afternoon studying here, lingering over lunch and several refills of coffee, to get out of the house and they were always welcoming, especially if you didnt hold the table during busy times. Just a comfortable, friendly place with decent diner fare.

Never have I had a bad meal here! Very friendly and great for children! Enough food that you get food and its a great price! I ordered soft scrambled eggs. I let them sit for a little bit to see if they would become more firm, and they didnt! Thank you to the cook who knows what soft scrambled is! The staff is great! Its definitely one of my favorite places for home cooked comfort food!

It was my first time getting takeout from there. When I walked in, a gentleman greeted me. His and everyones vibe was so positive and friendly. I asked about the quotes displayed. We had a little small talk. He showed me his favorite quote (in the picture). The food was great. I would definitely go there again.

Its a standard hometown diner. No frills. Local vibe. The food is good enough diner good. Youll leave full the portions are oversized. Waitress was doing her job and seemed a little over worked.

Im not sure if I will return. When we arrived, there were quite a few customers dining. I decided to keep my mask on and was informed by the waitress that after being seated I didnt need to keep my mask on. When I explained that I preferred to wear my mask due to the large number of patrons in the restaurant, she proceeded to make a face and get an attitude. She eventually softened her tone once she realized that I would remove my mask when I felt comfortable.

I got bacon, egg and cheese (the egg sandwich) on a hard roll and some home fries with peppers and onions. The Breakfast sandwich was amazing!!! The home fries were decent. They were pretty soft for my liking, but they were nice and hot. Overall, it was a decent place! Might need to spend time and actually dine in sometime.

A little well established dinner that offers a selection of great food at a decent price. Good size portions,great looking desserts.... the many pics on the wall keep you busy while you wait..

Mt Hope Diner was great! Wife and I were hungry for some yummy diner food and we were not disappointed. We ordered blueberry pancakes and a Cuban sandwich both tasted great and we were stuffed. Price with tip was around $16.

Great atmosphere and family friendly. Best Manhattan clam chowder EVER! I love soup and chowders...I could have eaten bowls of this chowder. Owner stopped by and chatted with us, chowder reciepe is 55 years old from original owners Mom and Pop. Great place to stop by, its a must when visiting Rochester.

In the area for a college visit, we stopped in for an early breakfast. Neighborhood diner looks simple from the outside but it was a really nice vibe inside! Clean, well maintained diner with a happy buzz in the air. Staff was friendly and super attentive, food was spot on. All your favorites here. Recommend!

Very good! Its been a long time since I was in there. The food is still as yummy as I remembered it. Waitresses and manager are very friendly! I was very happy to go there once again. It brought back a lot of good memories!

NY Tough and caring in action. Ordered a simple steak and eggs with home fries. Delivered to my hotel Hot, Fresh, Huge Portions, Yummy! Even the coffee was hot and fresh. It was the little things they included that I did not think about. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. I look forward to dining in when seating is permitted.

10/10 ! I ordered here since I had a gift card and never had their food before. All the staff was incredibly friendly and nice, and you can tell they actually enjoy working there together! I ordered the buffalo chicken melt and it was perfect for an after workout lunch! I will definitely come here again!

Average food. While ordering my food, my waitress said she couldnt hear me well and I didnt have to wear a mask in the restaurant. She seemed upset when I raised my voice and didnt take my mask off. The owner was nice when he came to my table to greet George and I.

It took forever to be seated. When we were seated it took forever for a waitress to come see about us. So we were given a different waitress. She was much more attentive but we had already been there for an hour by then, without our order being taken. Finally when our order was taken, it took forever for our food to come out. We ended up walking out. Id never had a bad experience at Mt. Hope dinner, shocked and confused really.

Nice and friendly environment. I always eat here. Today was the first time I bought my little one along she had Pancakes hash browns and bacon however it was way to many pan cakes for a child they should have a short stack and long stack selection for the kids she barley got through two pancakes

The Food here is always Good, I really wanted a taco salad but they didnt have stuff to make it...kinda disappointed...but my shrimp basket was good !

Purchased takeout food that was notable I called back to speak to the manager and was given a difficult time. Left my name and number, and never received a response. Days later while in the area I stopped in after once again experiencing difficulties I spoke to the owner Michael who was rude and dismissal. Replying yea, yea I heard all about it after only hearing my name. Simply making that rude and disrespectful statement and walked away. After surveying the restaurant I noticed that the clientele was mixed. However, the staff didnt represent the clientele. Being an American of African decent I felt that his response was representative of the fact that he has very little respect for African Americans. He doesnt hire them nor appreciate them as customers.

I judge a restaurant first my its cleanliness. That was 5 stars. The atmosphere and waitresses were nice! The next in line for me for diner breakfast is the coffee and homefries! Any diner can make eggs and toast. The home fries were not crispy and hot. Too much paprika. If the coffee was a little high end (an inexpensive upgrade) it would have been 5 stars. PAUL Delima is a good restaurant coffee. I give it a 3.5 rating

Disappointing. Service was not ideal. The first person who came up to us, whom apparently was not our server, asked for our drink order and returned with water and not what we requested. Food was bland, which is surprising because I have been previously and remember it being quite good. I will attribute that to an off day for the chef. The big issue, on the door and posted throughout the diner is wear masks EXCEPT when seated. Now the staff was very good at this and I applaud them, but what was not ideal was every other customer was walking around with either no mask or a mask below their chin. We were seated next to the restrooms so it was painfully obvious how often this was occurring. For anyone who is COVID aware I would NOT recommend this place until they get it together. I personally will not be returning for quite some time after the poor showing today.

If you are going to get Covid while out, it would be a place like this. They wipe each table with the same dirty rag, ketchup bottles/creamer/sugar/and salt are all still on the table despite regulations. Seating backs are filthy.Home fries dont have any resemblance to anything fried and are giant hunks of potatoes. Eggs, potatoes, ham and toast all cold when served. Staff fighting (swearing) while diners dine.Stay safe... Skip this place. No idea how they say busy or in business.

We were visiting and stopped here for breakfast. The breakfast didn’t stand out in any way. It tasted fine. The service was fine. The whole experience was just ok. I could see this being an option for a consistently cheap and ok meal.

TERRIBLE experience here. Came on a Sunday morning & the Waitress was VERY rude. Came to our table and didn’t even say one word. Messed my order up and didn’t even come back to check on us. She didn’t even say one word the entire time. At the end she just slips the bill on our table. Very unfriendly and unwelcoming. WILL not be coming back here. Please hire waiters/waitresses that provide a good experience... not people who are clearly uninterested in working/being there and collecting a paycheck

Mt. Hope diner is a great place to eat. It is a family oriented environment. The waitresses are great. Food comes back quickly and hot. The owner is always present which makes for even better service. They are following all state guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus. I highly recommend them .

Fast and friendly service. The food was so yummy (we got breakfast). Clean and homey with a lot of Rochester history on the walls. This is a cute place if youre in the Strong Hospital area to stop and get a nice cuppa Joe and some eats.

I tried eggs Benedict for the first time. It was sooo good i cant wait to go back. Great local diner. The waitress went as far as to look ul the origin of my breakfast lol. She was really nice just like the rest of the staff and the whole establishment overall.

I traveled all the way from the other side of Rochester because I thought this diner would be good. Unfortunately, I was sadly mistaken. I ordered a veggie burger with fries. The burger had no detectable flavor. I could not decipher what the patty was even made of. I seen kernels of corn it the patty. However, the patty tasted like nothing, the sandwich dripped of wet lettuce, and the fries had potential if they were at least given a shake of salt, or some salt and pepper packets to go. I also ordered a hot turkey and gravy with home fries. The turkey and “gravy “ was so bland! The gravy had no taste and the home fries were nothing more than huge chucks of flavorless potatoes. What a sad disappointment.

It was not ready when I arrived a couple minutes late for pickup, very cold, and missing jelly on my toast and an entire side dish. It just didnt taste good.

Both times I went for breakfast the service wasnt that great. Once we got the main order no one stopped by to refill coffee, check on the meal, etc.

Absolute must go to! It is very casual and friendly environment. The food is very, very cheap and also delicious. The staff have always been kind and the service is excellent. I go here often with friends and family and everyone loves it. I would suggest ordering Dads Favorite for lunch/dinner.

The food was delicious. We got exactly what we ordered. And the service was snappy. My table was clean when we got to it, and our check was promptly brought to us when we finished eating.

Food and service seem to not be as good as it used to be. Was seated quickly, but a wait until waitress came by. The fresh blueberry pancakes used to be great, now were dry and floury tasting. Omelette was good. Not sure if I got on a off day, but the restaurant was not busy and the waitress were commenting that they were taking smoke breaks and would be back in a few minutes several times during my visit.
