Excellent diner next to a harley davidson dealership. The food is great and my host for the day was comical and had me in stitches the whole meal. He ensured I was taken care of and kept my drinks filled. The diner is lively and I always enjoy stopping here when Im in rocky mount. I hope to return soon.
Stopped here for a late lunch on a road trip. Really enjoyed our meal. The floats were yummy. Reasonable prices and great service. Our server Daelyn was super friendly and attentive. The outdoor area with the license plates on display was neat. The whole vibe of the restaurant was cool too. Would definitely return again if were ever back in the area!

Good food, reasonable prices. An elderly man, in his 80s and his wife, were pointed to a table. They werent escorted to the table. They came back and said the table was not cleaned. The girl acting as the hostess, has a harsh tone and was not good with complaints. The elderly couple left. I ordered my good to go. The only complaint is the fried green tomatoes are full of grease.

I ordered a cheeseburger. Rare with a sunny side up egg. Not too hard. First order, egg completely cook and burger was well done. The other persons other was wrong as well. The waiter took the food back and the cook was very argumentative. The second order, my egg was raw and the bun was soggy. I will never go there ever again. The waiter tried. The floors were sticky and nasty.
Their home fried potatoes and link sausages are the best! And the service is always good.
Staff was rude and unprofessional. Had to ask for our coffee multiple times. She didn’t write down our order and of course it got messed up. Fried green tomatoes on the burger were soggy and so was the bun. When she came by and asked what was wrong I explained and she said “oh sorry” and handed us the check. Extremely disappointed. Left hungry. Will not be back.
This looked like a really nice diner, so we stopped in to check it out. We got seated pretty quickly, and it didnt take too long to get our drink orders in. Our waitress was too busy socializing to bring us our food. We waiting 20+ minutes for our food and it came out wrong. When our food was delivered, the waitress told me the cook had to go and kill our chicken. I guess that was her way of apologizing for the delay. The food was good, I will say that, but this isnt a place to go if you want good service. One table came in and sat down and waited for about 10 minutes and walked out do to no one approaching their table.
Ordered an omelet with hash browns. Hash browns were barely grilled, potatoes were soggy. Omelet was decent. Would I go back? No. Did it get the job done? Yes. Service was fine, nothing special. None of the waitstaff wears masks, which is fine, but would feel more comfortable if they did.
Server was a very nice and fun lady. The salad lettuce was wilting though
If I could give no stars I would... standing waiting for a seat... everyone that came in after us sat down before us.. said something and they said they were here first pointing out our name to them that we were here waiting first.. oh Im sorry... turned around and left.. worst customer service ever... didnt even try to call the last people back and explain... knowing that she had our name down first!
Best food in Rocky Mount! I tried their burger with pimento cheese and bacon and it was to die for! I also get their chicken tender basket that never disappoints! I could eat there everyday!
Sadly this is not a good place for a meal. We love to eat and support local establishments on our yearly commute between Boston and SC, but this diner is not with the stop. Greasy grimy floors, some severs with masks and some without masks. The food was fair at best. The only thing it has going for it is it’s easily reached off the interstate.

We were in Rocky mount N.C and found the best dinner since we started our vacation from Florida the breakfast was an old school type memory for me I believe every meal is the same every time I give kudos too Cheryl who served us and the chef is a five star general coming from a food critic like me says a thousand words god bless The highway dinner and it’s staff

Im reading the reviews, especially the bad ones. I still took a chance and we stopped in for breakfast on our way through to Myrtle beach. My waitress, Lenora, was unbelievably exceptional. She was polite and just accommodating. She forgot about the chocolate chips in my daughters pancakes and caught it immediately and made it right. Its far for us to return, but if Im ever in that neighborhood again I will stop in. Thank you for taking care of us for breakfast.

Smelled like a sweaty locker room. I ordered a hot dog and fried green tomatoes. Tomatoes were so greasy and my hot dog was cold. My husbands fries tasted like grease. The bill for 2 hotdogs with side included and a soda was $15. Just gross food. We Should’ve gone across the street to speedy gas station and gotten hot dog there.
I took away 2 stars for the place being what felt like was on the dirty side. There was also a faint odor that my wife and I did not care for, but its hard to describe (kind of like old greese). Our waitress was very friendly and she brought us our food fast (as soon as it was up). I had the highway diner burger that had pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. I enjoyed the burger. My wife and daughter said that they really liked the homemade chips.
We went to this diner at the encouragement of my sister. Our party was of 20 people somehow on a very busy Saturday morning They managed to seat us all in different groups of 3, 4 or 5. It was a marvelous time and I enjoyed it very much,- the ambience is so cool

Absolutely disgusting... I walked in and it was the most horrendous smell I have ever smelled walked to our table, seat was sticky, stuff all over the floor, straw rappers anything you could think of in a diner. Waitress wiped the table with just water there’s flies all over the place. The smell alone is about enough to make you barf. Do not recommend this place by any means I don’t know if the food was good there or something considering the amount of people and the good reviews but we walked out before we could tell I don’t care if you think that we’re bad people for “judging a book by its cover” the place sucked.
First time eating here and I ordered the steak and cheese sub. Cooked a little to much, Im not a big person on my meat being burned but every person is different. Next time I go I will try a different dish. BUT our waitress was extremely sweet and made sure we had everything we needed at our table. Greeted everyone and was very respectable.
Placed an order for pickup today, had my fav the south of the border omelet and I added a side of bacon and fried green tomatoes. Everything was cooked to perfection 👌🏿. My omelet was so filledwith toppings, I was in omelet heaven. My bacon was crispy and cooked just right as well. I love the house ranch that comes with the fried green tomatoes. I almost wanted to call and ask the cooks name so I can ask if they’re working before I order next time.
Upon entry, the smell of burnt food filled the air. Wait staff doing a lot of standing around or having loud personal conversations that shouldve been private. Management must have been off site. When the food was finally delivered, not tasty at all. Never offered a refill on my drink. Wont return for this service any time soon.

Stopped around noon on a long road trip. Very convenient to the interstate and I was quickly seated at an open counter seat. I decided on breakfast and after almost 10 minutes, a server took my order. Coffee was good, one egg was over easy as ordered, one was almost over hard. Patty sausage was generic. English muffin didnt go in the toaster until my plate was served, which I watched because servers are also responsible for bread/toast for the restaurant.Convenience and price outweighed quality of food.
I Will never go there again. I was sat in the back of the restaurant next to the bathroom. I didnt have a menu until 10 minutes after I sat because I went to go get it from the counter. Before I even received my food my server Amanda ask me to pay for my food and how I was planning to pay. I find that disrespectful. I believe she thought I couldnt pay for my food because I order about $40 worth of food

Grits were flavorless and cold, I ordered over medium eggs, they came out over easy with runny whites and cold. It wasnt busy enough to mess up that bad.

The worst experience that Ive had to date! Ive visited the Highway Diner on many occasions but this was the worst experience ever!! My sister and I took our dad out for dinner and we only had to wait a little while to be seated, which wasnt the issue, the problem is once we were seated our waitress came over and took our drink orders, (one sweet tea and two waters with lemon). After received our drinks she took our orders, which was fine but after waiting 30 minutes or so and seeing people who came in after we did get there orders while we waited became a bit frustrating. Our waitress continued waiting on other tables but never came back to give us an update or even check to see if we needed anyone else. She finally acknowledged us after looking over at our table to take the next patrons order to tell us that our food would be out in a minute. We waited 5 more minutes and at that time my 83 year old dad decided to leave.Ive always gone in the mornings and after this experience I feel that the morning staff is much more attentive to their customers.

If you are from the north traveling down south and your taste buds are set on a good southern diner breakfast, keep driving. Food overcooked, barely warm and absolutely no seasoning. The best thing about this place was the hostess/ server.....Young cheerful and welcoming young lady.

Cool place that is mostly enjoyable for its old school decor. Food is okay, no more. Portions are generous. I would not say that the staff is friendly but they are efficient and service is fast. We waited about 10 minutes for menus to be brought to our table and have our drink order taken. Our server then brought us the wrong drinks and never came back to our table to take our food order. We left after waiting another 20 minutes. It was a huge waste of our time.

Husband had grilled pork chops 2 large ones with fries and green beans. I had grilled cheese ached sweet potato fries with cinnamon. Both good. Alcohol for your hands was at the door. No partitions between booths.

My husband and I make many trips per year between Florida and New York staying in Rocky Mount, NC. Our favorite place to start the day is the Highway Diner. The food and service is supreme. Today however it was the best as we ate inside for once and had Richard as a server. To say he was awesome is an understatement! He truly loves what he does and people in general. First time breakfast customer and would return whenever in this location. Fresh food and very welcoming staff. Diner very clean, plenty of parking. Loads of choices on menu. Try it, you cant go wrong.
It is a classic dinner, next to a Inn might get bussy. I went there with a family of 7 not too pricey. I had the meatloaf best I ever had but is small. Two of the highway burgers were ordered and they both were great. Porkchop fried was very well season but a little dry for been fried. The mash potatoes tastes it like from the box so choose fresh vegetables or fries. The sweet potato fries are the best on the sides in my opinion. Milkshakss were a plus, to give the clasdi dinner experience.

I’ve given this place way too many chances. The food is good, and the variety of the menu is great, but every time I come here, there’s a problem. The ladies who work here seem very nice, but also very overwhelmed. Most of the time they seem lost.
Food and kitchen staff were not good at all. Sent food back because the eggs were extremely under cooked. When second round of food got to the table bacon and eggs were undercooked again and potatoes were cold. Tried eating the pancakes but they had raw dough in the center. Waitress still charged for the meal and no manager stopped by our table. Will never go back or recommend to anyone.

Stopped on a Saturday at 520pm. Advertised pet friendly. Place was empty. Refused to seat us outside (with dog). Place is dirty, and workers have a nasty attitude anyway.
The day I went they were slow as everything. I know a delivery driver had to wait 20 minutes past pickup for an order because at 11am they to had train a new cook. The customer wasnt happy because the order was 30 minutes past delivery time. The driver lost money on a second order and got in trouble for a late delivery. Seems like they didnt have it together. Seriously why accept delivery orders if you cant get them together. This could cost a driver their job. Sad they want to do delivery drivers like that.

Absolutely ridiculous that Bodie Noell would have customers and staff in a restaurant with temperature at 87 degrees and NO air conditioning! Sweating while trying to have lunch. We were not told no A/C until waiting 15 minutes and being seated.
Dont know how to make Omelettes! Ordered a sausage and cheese Omelette and the egg was folded over with the sausage and cheese sprinkled on the outside. Service was good as well as the coffee.
Very disappointing. Food was very greasy. Was never like that before.
Carlton House pockchops were good. Kitchen must have had a problem, took a long time to get our meal out. Waitress took one of the meals off our bill. We still tipped her good, it wasnt her fault we waited so long. We will return again.
