Theres something magical about The River Trading Company. Its the place you go if youre a lover of books. You could easily spend an hour browsing through the huge selection of quality books. I picked up 10 books for less than the price I would pay for two new hard covers. Super knowledgeable staff. Plenty of choices for whatever you love to read.

The book selection was incredible, all the books were im great condition and the pricing was amazing. I totally think this will be a favourite place of mine to visit in the future

Visited this book store only recently and was happy to find it fulfilled the promise of its reputation as the best book store in Hamilton, almost to my chagrin, as Ive been living in the East End for years and have waited too long to visit. Who knows how many great and rare finds I missed out on!Which is what you will get here. While I did not walk out of the shop with anything in hand, what I walked out with was the knowledge that I will be back again, and soon. The owners are so friendly and can probably tell you are a first-timer, as they informed me of their young readers and mystery sections in the back of the store. The mystery section is very big. I asked the owner if she would recommend a mystery book based on the type of fiction I typically read and she listed a slew of authors right off the top of her head that I quickly tried to memorize.For this fiction reader, the store carries a modest section, but has so many other diverse and rare sections like vintage sci-fi, graphic novels, criminology, art history, spec fiction, poetry etc. that gave me the urge to step out of my comfort zone and explore new avenues. There are a couple chairs in the front where you can sit and read. I also noticed their lower-quality paperbacks sell for reasonable prices which you dont often see in most used-book stores. They also carry art prints, and some vintage art exhibition publications which can make great gifts. Cant wait to go back and spend more time here.

Ive been purchasing used books from this store for a few years now and I love it! The owner(s) are wonderful. Based on discussions weve had, they have recommended books I wouldnt otherwise read - and these books have become treasured additions to my collection. Excellent store worthy of the support of our community.

Im slowly rebuilding a collection of a series by my favourite author, and not only did they have a volume, they carefully put it aside for me until I could come to get it.

Excellent selection and a very charming shop. There are also a few rarer items for those looking for a personal gift. Any used book shoppers would be thrilled to peruse! :)

Charming little shop.

A well organized shop with an obviously carefully curated selection of quality books, in good shape and at reasonable prices. The mystery section in particular is quite large and the owner is very knowledgeable about second world war history. This place is a gem!

This is my favourite bookstore in Hamilton. Great selection, they always have what I’m looking for and often I leave with new and unexpected finds. Really great prices, great selection of art books, poetry, fiction, graphic novels, history and more. I try to visit as often as possible even though I live out of town now!

Brought my girls in for some books. More than reasonably priced. Bought a book myself by Oscar Wilde after hearing what the shop owner had to tell me about the book. I can see she is most passionate about her books and very knowledgeable. Sorry, I didnt get your name!

Staff were friendly and helpful. The place is very well organized. Prices on books are pretty good. I would compare it to Value Village. Six books cost $27. Books were in good condition. They also sell vintage prints, crafting sets, DVDs and a small selection of CDs. I highly recommend this store for the avid reader. I also love that there is a resident cat and dog. We will be back 😊

Great used bookstore! Selection and prices are excellent, and the store owners are very pleasant.

Great selection of books; classics, contemporary, magazines, and rarer tomes. An entire room just for crime/mystery! Staff was very friendly and the cats very sleepy (but also very friendly). No issue finding parking, at least on a Sunday. Parked on the side street next to the shop—beside the library.

I was interested in selling some books, and Mary from River Trading was kind enough to meet me at my house to pick them up. She was very kind, and we had some lovely conversation as she went through my collection. I have not visited the store yet, but I definitely will - thanks again, Mary!

An oasis. I loved the former Queen Street West location so much that I took a day trip to Hamilton. I was so happy to be reunited with Thor and Walter and I left with a stack of books. I always find literary gems at The River Trading Company!
