We are doing the whole Route 66 from Chicago to LA, and following the EZ66 guide by Jerry McClanahan, where in the area we was up to he mentions the Mule Trading Post. Its also on a dead end stretch of the ole 66 so easy to park up.Indside we was greeted by a friendly lady, and it was about 4.45pm in the day and we was very quiet to browse.Great place for 66 souvenirs, but also this a shop for local residents for hunting tackle, such as knives, swords etc.Very reasonable priced route 66 gifts too. Highly recommended to visit.
We judt passed by. You are closed due to Covid. I used to get my mule t-shirts there. We ride mules. I hope you still stock some mule stuff.
Stopped by due to watching some videos of all cool old trinkets in the store. I was disappointed that all that is gone and now its just a gift shop and convenience store. I was really disappointed. The lady whos worked here for 15 years was awesome to talk to and hear stories of the old setup. Because of her I bought three shirts, but Id love to see some old made new again! That legacy is what built this stores reputation and it has sadly been replaced with with sterile.
Rest in Peace Old Mule! The Mule is a classic stop on the Mother Road! The kindly old man has since left (hopefully he has retired and has not passed on). With the old man having left, the Mule is now a modern and heavily sanitized version of its former self. The Mule used to have loads of kitsch, characters and the ambiance unique to tourist traps on 66. Me and my wife used to stop here all the time when cruising the Route.Sadly, Im not so sure we will any longer. My hats off to the current owner(s), they have renovated it completely all the clutter and detritus is completely gone. The store is clean and uncluttered and stocked with a wide assortment of touristy stuff and more, they say, on the way.Edited to say thanks to the current owners for keeping this venerable institution alive and open for a new generation to behold. I hope fans of the Mother Road from all over the world will patronize this location! It would be a shame to see what happened in Fanning happen here!
I found my favorite jerky here! Go find yours! They have a nice selection of knives also at fair prices. Check them out you wont be disappointed.
Great stuff!! Travelers paradise for souvenirs. Everything you could want from Route 66.
It was a nice place, had quite a few souvenirs there. Nice lady there that was helpful. It was fine, I was just driving through before I got to the airport.
Not much to really look at. Drive is and food were mostly expired by more than a year. Interesting items and friendly cashier.
This is a place Ive been going to since I was a kid in the seventies. It may have new owners, but it still feels great to stop there on the way to or from visiting family in Springfield, Missouri. They dont always have my size in a T-shirt, but I can always find some souvenir from the road trip and its just fun to look at all the different things that they have there. Never a bad visit!!
Want to buy a natural colored (not day glow pink) rabbits foot? This is the place. Cheap! T-shirts, souvenirs, purses, games, hats, flip flops... lots of random stuff you might not expect. Great place, worth stopping even if you only look around and laugh at the joke things with your significant other
Very vintage and interesting. We stopped for pictures with their big Route 66 sign, and R66 patches, stickers, and pins. They had tons of Christmas knick knacks, a vintage book room, a casual antique room, and much more.
Love this store been in Missouri for 9 years and my first visit to this place ..lots of different unique items
Classic Americana with a generation of same family owned and worked operation. Not really an operation. More of just the best experience of a kitschy Route 66 Old store. Oldest shop along Route 66. The current owner slash person at the building was a plethora of historic information
Mostly just went there to get some beef jerky. besides that I didnt really do anything else there. The atmospere looked very sanitary. The floors and walls were straight white. The service was good. Yes there is public restrooms. Overall it was okay.
Absolutely loved this place ❤️, very large collection of Route 66 merchandise. Super friendly service 😊
So many awesome fruit chutneys & a variety of different salsas & hot sauces for EVERY taste!
The place has upped there game over the last few years. Clean and great spot for route 66 novelties.
Fun shop! So many different brands and types of jerky! Great souvenir variety!
Sweet staff and great jerky selection!
Really nice folks in general, I think the big corporate truckstops are not doing justice to these mom and pop stops from back in the day.
Great rt66 souvenir shop, love the billboards on I-44
Nifty place to stop and check out. Lots of souvenirs and such. Worth a visit.
It’s a convenience store and cheap souvenir stand.
Great souvenir shop, many varieties of beef jerky
Decent selection of 66 stuff plus swords knives toys and other things
Awesome place to find neat souvenirs! Minnetonka Moccasins, Benchmade Knives, jewelry, large selection of polished and assorted rocks and clothing!! All reasonably priced!
The guy was really nice. All kinds of jerky but its expensive. I eat alot of it so its too pricy. But again. Real nice folks.
We stopped in hoping they had a specialty item. They didnt but the owner immediately got on the phone and in a week had the item we were looking for! We are glad to know that a local business has such awesome customer service!
Didnt get a chance to go in and look around they were closed I was just delivering pizza but the guy I delivered to was pritty nice
This is no turist attraction. Its a friking store were you can buy all king of trinkets made in china. In the past it was very interisting for my wife and I to stop here but, the old man that use to own it retired and sold it to a younger person who took away the charm of the place. We use to stop here every year but this was the last year. Very disapointed.
On historic route 66! Great little stop off
Friendly associates. Some cool stuff!
Same as it was 40 years ago and same stuff but the people are friendly and a lot of fun. Great Route 66 stop

For nostalgic sake, stop by and post a picture of yourself in front of the route 66 sign.
Good stop after gassing up.
Vary chearful and polite customer service. Lots of things to look at of good quality and if your like me and like spicy hot things they have got the biggest sellection of hot sauces you arent gonna find in the stores that will light you up like the 4th of July! A must see if your passin by. Ill stop in again👍👍
There really is nothing in the building.. A couple souvenirs and a selection of weird jerky.
Ive never been in it as far as I kw but it looks like it would be a cool place to look around
Great place to shop for Route 66 memorabilia
Nice and kind lady working the store was helpful and didnt rush me
Very expensive, staff not very accomadating, and not a reasonable selection of sizes. Most items not even priced and had too constantly ask. Bought a phone charging cord and it is horrible. Takes forever to charge anything w it. I would return it but unfortunately I was just passing thru and live 500 miles away.
Great prices Friendly staff
Nice store but I did like it better under the other management they had more mule themed products
Prices triple on knifes w halfoff sale. No real selection
Not a location I would frequent. Great service.
Only has tourists souvenirs. Good selection of jerky.

This place has gone down hill when I was a kid growing up and Im 46 now between the 70s and the early 90s even later mm this place had everything all kinds of knick knacks t-shirts signs now it has pretty much nothing sunglasses so it is some shirts so disappointed when I went there will never return and then I found out theyre putting an A&W next to it absolute disappointment might as well just go to the mall
The employee was super sweet and we came out with a ton of jerky
Fun place...good jerky
Great place to visit.
Super Fun Store
Great place and excellent local information
Nothing unique or of interest like I would have expected, just over priced run of the mill route 66 junk.
It was okay he wasnt that friendly but it was okay and the cigarettes that kind of ripped us off on
Great prices and selection of merchandise
Great jerky selection
Cool collectables
Pretty ne9
Best beef jerky!!
Prices are way too high on there products
Very over priced stuff!
Great place we enjoyed it
Good selection of jerky
Good selection of Missouri stuff
Not worth the stop except maybe for a photo opportunity
I like Route 66 stuff
Great stuff and prices
Nice, very clean, friendly workers
The new owners are still stocking shelves after a major remodeling. I expect it to be quite a store when that is done.
Very cool place
Lots of Route 66 stuff.
Basically just a large souvenir shop.
Too expensive but great atmosphere.
Not the same since the owners sold.
Average little RT.66 gift store.
Very disappointed not much there
