I love home cooked food. The service was fast our waitress was amazing. However my home fries were cold and hard I went there because they serve waffles, except that day they didnt have waffles. Some of their prices are high.
Went for breakfast. Eggs, toast, bacon, and French toast. All was excellent, and the atmosphere was friendly, as a local diner should be. Highly recommended.

Wonderful back home atmosphere, staff is very knowledgeable and courteous, fantastic prices for the portions and love that the food is cooked in the open right around you so we could smell our food as it was being cooked. For our first time eating here and it was my sweetheart birthday, we were both very happy and satisfied! We plan on going back again for sure! Love these smaller diners, they truly understand hospitality! Well done!!
Good standard of the grill food. Nothing adventurous. Dont expect alot of fresh veggies. But good basics, fried potatoes, grilled cheese, eggs, omelet, and other sandwich items. Courteous service, reasonable price. Only breakfast and lunch.
Great atmosphere, pleasant staff but my food was cold.
Tuna melt, Reuben, hot dog and sauerkraut, triple decker sandwich, egg and olive sandwich and endless coffee.

It depends on the day you go here how good the food is. Monday through Friday it is way better. They have great omelets. French toast is thin. I like a thick cut french toast. I dont like the sausage links here but bacon is good. Renee the server is always good and perfessional.

My wife and I spent a couple months looking for the perfect breakfast spot in our area; we went through some duds but finally ended here at the Iron Kettle.The absolutely best staff in the world; friendly, fast and genuinely warm hearted people.The prices are almost too reasonable to believe for the quality of food. (Try the chicken cordon bleu)Cant recommend them enough!

Classic greasy spoon in all the right ways. Service is fast, food is delicious and after a few visits you will be greeted personally. They do have limited hours (close at 2p daily). But they serve the entire menu all day.

We use to go here in the early 80s to eat when stationed at Griffiss Air force and its still there. The food is great and the people are very nice and helpful.

When the Beeches closed, I was invited to try the Iron Kettle. Its has really been a great experience. Love the staff. And the food is Devine. Cant wait to visit again.

Nice small town place with home style cooking. Fresh food and great service. Try to make a stop in every weekend. Sit by the bar and watch the cook make the food fresh in front of you. Prices are very good.

Staff is very friendly, the more you go the more they recognize you and youre like family (but, in a good way.) Prices are reasonable...coffee is good (they serve with milk)...love the home fries. I usually get an omelette or the 2 egg special. Not fond of the waffles, they taste frozen and dried out.Pancakes are good too.

Cheap and basic
The food here was just ok. Nothing to rave about. I had blueberry pancakes, but they didnt have blueberries baked in like typical blueberry pancakes, it was just blueberry pie filling folded into the pancake like a taco. It wasnt very good and was a total sugar overload so that I couldnt even come close to finishing it! They are also cash only so be prepared. This place also definitely draws a very specific type of crowd, the senior citizens. The place was almost full and with the exception of a handful of us, everyone else were seniors. Surprisingly these seniors were a fairly raucous crowd and were very loud and talking over each other. We couldnt really carry on a decent conversation at our table because they were so loud. Id say this may have been a fluke, but the waitress knew everyone at the table by name and I heard them make comments about their weekly meals together so I assume they are a regular part of the atmosphere there. It has a cute local vibe to it and all, but I still wouldnt recommend this place.
Terrible! Went for Sunday breakfast. There was one young man serving beverages that was EXCELLENT and should be given more responsibility! Other than that the whole experience was an exercise in frustration! The tables are too close together to sit comfortably back-to-back with other guests. Customers go into the food prep area to bus their own tables. Your order is taken based on whatever table the waitress wanders over to who NO regard to who arrived first, so it can easily take a half hour just to order and then we were greeted with a very terse what do ya want. For an order of 2 omelets we waited well over an hour. Then another 15 minutes while she struggled to figure the bill for 2 omelets, 2 coffees & an order of hashbrowns. The coffee was just ok, the juice watered down, the omelets were good but certainly not good enough to out weigh the horrendous customer service!
Quaint little restaurant I enjoyed the atmosphere (kind of like eating in Grandmas kitchen). I was surprised at how good the food was. The Reuben sandwich and potato salad were very good.
Very nice restaurant with large accessible parking lot near Fort Stanwick. Food is very good and reasonable. Met family here for breakfast and service was very good. My brother and I who like healthy food and are weight conscious had oatmeal. The others endulged in the usual breakfast fare and were pleased. Prices are reasonable.

Im there at least twice a week. Reminds me of a family home. Somewhere they dont count how many times they fill your coffee cup. The food is slow cook, you may wait 5 minutes but Ill take 5 over 3 seconds of process food out of a baggy. My whole family goes there, love it. GLAD YOU STUCK AROUND ROME NY .
Absolutely love this place. This diner is the last mom and pop shop left in the area. Food is great, prices are amazing. Current live in Charlotte nc and we absolutely have to stop here when we come back to visit family.

We were there for over an hour and a half for breakfast. There was a young girl making sure our coffee cup was full but thats just too long to wait. We have been here many times but the last 2 times we were there forever. When we finally had eaten and were ready to pay we had to wait for the server who decided to go fill ketchup bottles. When she came out, instead of checking on her tables she decided to clean the coffee grounds and change that garbage .... i understand those things need to be done but you gotta respect the people who have been sitting there far too long as it is. We asked the girl pouring coffee but she wasnt allowed to get our bill for us. I bet she could have filled those ketchup bottles though. We wont be going back.

21sf of Nov. 17 Absolute waste. I ordered a steak and eggs, what showed up on my plate was a 3 or 4 oz thin cut flank steak. When i asked what it was they said how did you order it? I said rare and she said thats a rare steak and walks away. Then lies and says its an 8oz ribeye she saw them cut, then changes her mind that its a 4oz steak in a freezer pack and i see the pack. No way its been fresh cut in front of her. They charged me for everything and didnt even look at me when i paid just took my money.

Havent been disappointed with their omelets or more hearty breakfasts. Stay away from anything that needs maple syrup though. Their pancakes deserve better than their table syrup.
Service was extremely slow,. Food was acceptable. People were nice, however, they have to work on their organization of tasking and customer needs. Waited too long for everything; in the end I had to get up and chase the waitress for the check.
