The building is nice.I went on a regular weekday to see what the museum has to offer.I was surprised because I understood nothing.Random pieces win every floor. For me it was a total and utter waste of time.I don’t know if during exhibitions it’s any good. But on a normal, don’t go.Good thing is, there was no entrance fee.
The MACRO is located in a quieter district, a bit outside of the main tourist spots of the city. The building archtechture is interesting and inviting. The exhibitions are a question of taste/interest. The bar/cafeteria was closed. The shop has a great selection of art books/presents/souvenirs. Bus line 80 (in direction to the city centre) is only a couple of steps away from the entrance.
Weird thing but still somehow awesome too go through. In addition no Commission. Can’t do anything wrong then
Very fun museum, a good change from all the seriues museums in rome!
Wonderful building and stunning exhibitions. A little difficult to get around as poorly signaled on the inside. Nevertheless highly recommended.
Beautiful museum, well curated and full of surprises. Every piece seems happy to be there. Loved it! :)
It is interesting wander around the museum and find some hidden gems, like the terrace on the roof of the museum or the neon sign on the lowest floor. It has a lot of work space for students and there are a lot of students there. It’s very pleasing to walk around there and take pictures if you’re an influencer or a photographer. I would recommend a visit just for the experience, and if you have some time to kill.
Pink Floyd exposition was awesome! You put your headset on an just walk around. One album after another. One mini documentary after another. The headset will automatically switch context depending on your position in the building. All surrounded by beautiful music. There are dozens of guitars, drums, keyboards and other stuff used by the band. We took 2 hours to see everything. A wonderful experience.
ENG: I went there with my girlfriend for The Pink Floyd Exhibition. A unique experience, the staff organized and quality of the exhibition up to expectations. The Pink Floyd exhibition was also highly interactive.
We loved it! went to the exposure of Pink Floyd on March 21st, 2018 during our trip in Rome. the Museum is super nice, the staff is very friendly and professional. They have a bar in the second floor and we were able to luckily get a glimpse of the terrace. With respect to pink Floyd exposure, there is no words ... really, speechless. simply spectacular!
Very quiet place, for newbies a bit confusing because of its wide premises but once you figured out where the arts are, it is very interesting
Very confusing however brilliant just like our modern society
Very underwhelming experience, not much to see but good coffee on the terrace
Nice Experience!
B - O - R - I - N - G > the most interesting thing was the building but even that was interesting for its bizarre use of space.
Currently closed for renovation. No signs to tell you this. Not clear when it will re-open to the public. Went inside and were sent away by security - they might find it better to lock the doors and put up a sign. Somewhat disappointing. I highly recommend the owners update the google listing to save people wasting their time...
Free entry. Architecture & curation both excellent. Book online during Covid.
Absolutely Horrific and a waste of time. We decided to travel to the Contemporary museum on a 30min bus journey. We arrived and what we saw was a absolute waste of time and blank space. The rooms were empty and the art was how do I say... appalling. Unless your interested in a pile of garbage this is not the exhibition for you. In addition, The exhibit rooms portly labelled with directions and descriptions of artworks making it feel like a maze to find rooms. Also, at some points we felt uncomfortable being constantly followed by the guards, guarding the ‘precious’ artworks.Positive are that it was free and it had a nice cafe as well as a shop. Some exhibits also could be considered as slightly interactive with interesting /peculiar videos to watch.Maybe we came at the wrong time of year but from my perspective the art exhibition did not fulfil our expectations. I strongly advise anyone who has considered to come to rethink their decisions on coming.
Quiet times under coronavirus—the „editorial” exhibit is a collection of baffling spaces. minimal explanation heightens a sense of space as performance. precise inverse of eg vatican city tour de force of signage.
There are many ways to approach an Internet review. Generally the most appreciated is a knowledgeable, well-informed, and yet concise as possible look at the thing or place being reviewed. A personal response to the subject of the review is appreciated so long as it is tempered and composed and most of the opinion is invested into the authorial, informed, and godlike voice of the overall review.Another approach to an Internet review is one in which the reviewer takes his or her sometimes short term and limited experience to be of profound and essential importance. Basing their review strictly and passionately upon themselves they trust the mosaic of other reviews to provide the wide ranging picture that their isolated interaction cannot.A third approach to an Internet review is one in which the reviewer uses their review, and his or her experiences with the subject of the review, as an opportunity to express themselves and their relationship to the world, and through that wider lens give a feeling of what the subject of the review might more fully be. This can also give a reader an insight into what their own experience with the review subject could, and might, be.All of these approaches to an Internet review can be valid and of great value to the wider community of the Internet. Indeed, there is probably only one kind of Internet review that is utterly reprehensible, and that is one in which the author of the review never even mentions the subject of the review and instead mysteriously expounds at great length about the very nature of Internet reviews themselves.Fortunately, as far as I understand it, this last type of reprehensible Internet review is phenomenally rare, and I know of only one that exists on the whole of the Internet.Unfortunately you have found it.
Excited very much!! Modern art is really fantastic and fresh view to the world! Many different exhibits and each have sense 👍
If i could give no stars I would. Biggest disappointment of my whole trip. The museum was empty. Nothing to see, and staff were not willing to help and had no knowledge whatsoever of what we could see. They just gave us weird looks when we asked where the exhibitions were.. We walked through the whole building and all we found were empty rooms, and no direction or information was provided. Seemed more like an art school, but without any art. The building and architecture was nice, sure, but this should not be called a museum.
Found this place via google. Not very famous as I suppose, but I went there to see the architecture of the building itself. The Zoning and circulation of the building is awesome, the way the exhibitions are made, mostly creative and showcasing as well artists and painters working.Must see I guess
This was quite disappointing, we went pretty far to get here as its kinda out of the way.Note that its free so youre not wasting money but time. We are both industrial design students so we were excited for this but it was just kinda, empty ish?Go there if youre already close but the location just work in its favor unfortunately :/
Nothing interesting for the average tourist. Dont bother spending your time to go there. Recommended only if you are an artist. Its free entrance though and the cafeteria is nice.
The place is beautiful, talking about the building, but you have to be very open minded to appreciate the art that is displayed. Unfortunately, the only thing that I enjoyed was the mosaic made from glass in the rooftop, and the huge graffiti outside in the last floor. Considering the price, I wouldnt go there again in my next visit to rome
Big building with lots of potential, but not much to see.Definitely can skip this place. Rome isn’t for contemporary art anyway, but it was quite empty as a museum. It’s free so if you really curious could walk around.
It is an interesting place to see and to listen to experts and professors to widen ones horizons. Amazing place
A little underwhelming but maybe its because I dont speak fluent Italian. There wasnt much art on display but there were artists at work and you could observe and even talk to them. Love the idea but the language barrier was an issue for me. Seems more like a place for workshops and meeting other artists.
Its beautiful and though I went there for an audiovisual event I got to see some other areas though if you know modern art museums and or come from a city that with fresh construction buildings and innovation is a thing you will find this place looses 1 or two stars because they can do much more with it, nonetheless its a beauty in all aspects.
Macro always offers great exhibitions. Ive been there several times, for photographic and modern art events. The place itself is really nice, dislocated over several buildings, with great outside places to walk and rest. It features two bars, inside and outside, and a book and gift shop. Fully accessible to wheelchairs.
There is a good srudy/working area next to bar. Few places but not crowded usually
Loved wondering around this place and seeing all the art. Its something to come see if wanna pass the time or just love art
I went to see the Pink Floyd exhibition. It was well presented. You had these headphones that would detect directly where you are and start the explanation. But it was sometimes difficult to understand where I was suppose to look...
Cool architecture. Not really a museum, though? We got to talk to one of the artists in the studio which was awesome.
One of the best buffets near viale Regina Margherita to lunch to a reasonable price
Maxxi Museum of Modern Art RomeExcellent!.. artists around and open to discussion. Lots of activity. Fab building. Cafe. Free. Large bookshop.
Closed for winter, Google Maps incorrectly says its open. Only the bookshop is accesible. Re-opens on april 22nd.
Nice place to visit. Sadly two of the main art peace I wanted to see where not there and the temporary exposition was meh..
Very interesting exposition as well as wide open spaces. The people are friendly and the guards are not intrusive. Its a good meeting place as well. The only down side may be its location, it isnt entirely in the center of Rome. It has good bus connections, though.
This is a wonderful free museum and the neighborhood is great to walk around.
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome, Italian: Museo dArte Contemporanea di Roma, usually known as MACRO, is a municipal contemporary art museum in Rome, Italy. The museum is housed in two separate places: a former brewery in Via Nizza, in the Salario quartiere of the city; and a former slaughterhouse in Piazza Orazio Giustiniani, in the quartiere of Testaccio.
Beautiful building with several small galleries featuring (mainly) Italian modern art. Worth an hour or so, or just wander by to see the building.
I visited the museum as The Pink Floyd Exhibition was being displayed. It was the most intense and interactive exhibition I saw in Rome. The path was well established, the audio-guide was very well done and helpful (it could have more languages).
The museum is closed till April and this is not mentioned anywhere. True customer care experts
Nice place, but was almost empty. However we were able to see some actors at work.
My favourite place in Rome! You must see for sure! Enjouy creative atmosphere in this museum!
Nice space but not yet utilized to its full potential... Lets see how this new administration is going to develop its program...
We saw the Pink Floyd exhibition here which was amazing. Lovely building and great coffee shop
MACRO - Dont bother. Friday morning, the place was a graveyard. Staff is about as helpful as a dead battery. Ticket receptionist had some kind of animosity defect, gift shop did not have change for a 10 on a 6 Euro purchase.Exhibits were OK, but building is confusing, no obvious path, doors closed without signage. Bridge is incidental. Looks good, but worthless as an exhibit space. Orange structure in core was closed, no signage, no obvious purpose, no benefit to the architecture. Map handout was irrelevant.Too bad Rome is spending so much on a staff who hate visitors and a space that lacks the energy that art offers.Go to MAXXI and find some relevant culture.
Second time visiting, and there wasnt a lot to see this time either. I wasnt even sure it was open - there were no visitors. Pretty neat building, but dead museum.
It feels more like an artist and students hang out place. Three and half ⭐️...The exhibit is small, but the space is large and some of the concepts can be interesting, questions the perception. bathroom and things are a little debilitating probably for lack of funding. But the bathroom has some points of interest, they probably could use some newer, and more bottom friendly thrones.
Incredible and undervisited collection of art. We were able to speak directly to an artist and discuss his inspirations.
Nice place to spend time and to behold something different, unusual!
Lovely place. Spaces to seat and study alao
Only 4 rooms were open in which two of these rooms were same exhibition which wasnt very strong. The whole building is very strange and so is staff i felt very uncomfortable. If you are looking for something weird then this is definitely it.
Saw a great Pink Floyd exhibit there in April of this year. Great technology to view the exhibit.
I visited MACRO because of the Pink Floyd exposition. The building is very intersting from the architectural point of view worthing the visit alone. Pink Floyd exposition is very well done. All you have to know about the band is here to see, hear, and read!
Cool place, but it depends on the artist youll find
It is an interesting space with super modern designer toilets... but I feel quite a large part of the building feels like dead space sadly. It could be used in far more interesting ways.
A wide variety of things to do and see. Well organized and smoothly run. A lot of coffee shops and restaurants nearby.
Nice contemporary art center. It hosts different exbithion plus a stable collection. Check out the calendar
Modern and enjoyable structure with arts in motion
I so do love the Macro Asilo concept. Meeting the artists and feeling that the museum, as a public space, is actually home
Its a very big place for show and expos, modern design and fantastic atmosphere. (The bathrooms are amazing.)
Mix collection of classic and medieval items on display. Love the timeless set-up, very unique in set-up.
Great spaces! Lovely lounging space on the rooftop!
Great exhibition of Pink Floyd. A little expensive at 18 euros but well worth it.
Closed until 1st October 2018. Don’t waste your time before October!
I came here for the Pink Floyd Experience. I have really enjoyed it. It was worth it!
I went there for the Pink Floyd exhibition and it was superb! I loved it!
Pretty nice place but I expected something more.
This year this museum. Is open for free for a project and I think it is a great initiative, I have been to a conference by a chinese artist, Wu Yuren and took part in a performace, its been a wonderful experience!
