This guy knows his business.I had an Epiphone Zenith Bass, something of an odd ball, semi-hollow bass. I did my best to get the action right, but despite many years and many electric basses adjusted to perfection, I could not get this one done. Also, the volume from the piezo-electric pickup under the bridge was wildly off from string to string.I took it to Ed Clark for a proper setup and a repair of the volume issue. All he would tell me when I asked how much it would cost was You wont go broke. When I picked the bass up, I was floored. The action was perfect, the volume from the piezo pickup had been fixed. And it cost me next to nothing. He did great work on a really weird bass, and did it for more than a reasonable cost. I would have been perfectly happy if he had charged me twice as much.Cant recommend him enough. He might come across as a bit of a crusty old cob, but he is tops in his field and charges very reasonable rates.

Brought in a vintage bass with a pickup issue, Ed saw it was simply an issue with one of the wires and the ground. I wasnt charged a dime even though I was a first time customer. Who would have thought quality customer service and integrity still existed in this day and age. Thanks again sir.

Had a setup done on my acoustic and I could not be happier. Notes now sound true as you go up the neck, holds a tune better and strings closer to the neck so easier to play. A real craftsman.

Total pro guy. Consider yourselves lucky to have this caliber craftsman on long island. Also... Real possible I never do an action adjustment on an acoustic without him. Been doing my own for decades. He aced it in one shot. Id be adjusting lower and lower between string changes until it felt right and sometimes then too low. 😬

Ed is a rare commodity. He does exceptional work and to top it off is a consummate professional and a really nice guy.I had purchased a Les Paul recently and was overwhelmed by what a finely made instrument it was. However, the sides of the frets were noticeably sharp, and Ed said it also needed to be properly set up. As wonderful as my new guitar was, after he was done, it played and felt 200% better. If you need work on your guitar, Ed is THE MAN!

Had my guitar restrung and set up by Ed. He came highly recommended, and the reason is apparent the moment you meet him. Ed LISTENS to his customers, he doesnt talk over them. Hes friendly, straightforward and honest. I *was* gently reprimanded, and rightly so, for not having a hard case for my guitar. Thanks Ed.My axe never played better and the service cost a fraction of what I thought it would. I honestly thought he left off a zero. This shop may be the last of its type on Long Island. Ed is definitely one of a kind. Get your work done here while you still have a chance. Which reminds me, the acoustic is just about ready for a setup....

Ed was instrumental in helping me out of a guitar purchase that had gone wrong. He assessed the condition of the guitar and provided a written statement to back up my claim with Paypal that the seller had sold a damaged guitar (as the seller was trying to blame UPS). His professionalism and honesty helped end a nightmare situation. He has serviced many of my guitars and has always done top notch work. I highly recommend him for any type of guitar/bass service.

Ed is a highly skilled professional with exceptional customer service. I play bass professionally as my second full time job and purchased an Active J Bass that had poor electronics in it and went out on me within the first two weeks. Fender actually recommended I go to him to have it serviced under their dollar. I stressed to Ed it wasnt a rush I have plenty of basses. Within the hour of dropping it off to him, I got an email back that it was already done. He is simply amazing; decades of valuable knowledge and I will be using him for good!! Exceptional, rapid and pristine service. I will be recommending my fellow DAddario, Local 802 and LI cover band colleagues as the #1 Luthier on the island! Thank you again Ed!!

When I bought my first vintage guitar (my dream—a Hummingbird) and wanted some work done on it, I knew I didnt want to take it to an infant part-timer at Guitar Center (no offense). Having just moved to Long Island, I was relieved to find Ed. Hes a guitar lovers guitar tech—the kind of guy who could do his job in his sleep, but never would. At my first visit, he installed the strap button I needed in two minutes flat. I also needed a capo, tuner and humidifier, and he took the time to show me how to use the latter. He even ultimately gave me a discount! Im never taking my gear anywhere else and you shouldnt either. Please support Ed Clark! Collectors and musicians of all skill levels need more professionals like him.

I have been taking my guitars and basses to Ed for twenty years. He does unbelievable work at a fair price. He has done fret jobs, fixed broken necks, electronics....and dozens of other jobs for me through the years. Everytime, I have been incredibly happy. You wont be sorry bringing your instruments here. Ed is an ace builder. I havent bought one of his guitars yet, but someday Ill take the plunge. He did sell me a Blueridge that I love and play everyday.
