Little Japanese market which has been here as far back as I can remember. I like purchasing the food they readily have available. There is also sushi in the fridge to the right of the sushi counter/window.

The staple when it comes to Japanese super markets within the area. This place is almost exactly the same as when I would go there as a child. The downside is the prices have gone up a lot but then again thats expected considering how bad inflation is getting. Always a great spot for sushi.

One of the very best sources of Japanese food nearby. this place opened my eyes to a world of food i couldn’t have hardly imagined. nice and cozy in here too. it’s small, but not claustrophobically so.P.S: the sweets are AMAZING.

It may be because I grew up on it, but this corner store has my favorite sushi. I love their selection of bentos and bowls as well! Plus a solid collection of Asian snacks and a modest grocery.

Awesome reasonable sushi. Got Inari, spicy tuna rolls, and calif rolls...about 7 bucks a tray...yummy!!! Happy to support local mom-and-pop market.

If we havent already made something we really like to go here and pickup Japanese food for my mother-in-law. The prepared food is good and authentic. My kids like to get things for themselves too if theyre with us. They have retail packaged snacks that they enjoy too.

Very awesome! Try to get the sushi for a lunch then grab any meat or fish they have to grill it for dinner. Besides that, they have ramen making supply foods such as carrots and lettuce there, with the eggs too.

Great little Japanese grocery store. I wish they would have more organic food like natto. I only see 1 or 2 organic items

It a tiny Japanes market. It has the essentials of some of the big Japanes stores, but missing many other items.

Ive taken my Japanese friend there several times and she loves shopping there and also at the eatery next door.

This is the place to go. The food prices are amazing. I really enjoy coming here, they may not have everything you might need, but they have a good amount of choices. The meat is very well priced too. I would recommend people come here first if youre looking to save some money and still get flavorful foods or snacks

This little mom & pop shop has decently priced asian groceries and amazingly delicious pre-made meals at a very reasonable price. If you dont know what you want to eat, go to Tozai and theres something delicious there and if you want to eat a bit more healthy, there are premade options there as well. Its the perfect go to place for well made and reasonably priced food and to pick up some odds and ends that you might have forgotten to get at your bigger grocery run

Nice little japanese market that has the usual assortment of freshly made bento and sushi to go. You can also order bigger sushi and sashimi trays. There are also some of the usual stuff like tea, curry, ramen packets, etc. Although it is a small store so the selection is limited.

A great selection of bento box lunch! I’ve lived in Japan for a few years and I would say the food here is very authentic, plus the price is reasonable!

Tiny local market.They have assorted lunches and meals packed to-go! So delicious. Everything I have gotten here has hit the spot.From futomaki, chirashi, to oyako-don -all very yummy! Located towards the back of the store.They carry mochi from Fugestu-do.What you won’t know until you go, items are limited and you gotta go right before peak times to get the best variety. I came after the lunch rush on a weekday and they didn’t have too much cold sushi. They items that always seem to be in stock are the spam musubi, onigiri, and rice plates.If you love fried wontons- get the spicy crab fried wontons!! I got this on my last trip and for like $1.80 I got at least 5 or 6 fried wontons with imitation crab inside. The best party? It was actually crispy when I got home! I was expecting it to be stale and soft since they were sitting out but nope! I regretted not buying them all up!

Fresh authentic sushi!

This place seems like just a small convenience market but it is so much more. This is a well known place within the local Japanese community. I was lucky to hear about it from several friends. They are known for there sushi. The quality is very good but the prices reflect that. What is a bargain is their poke and their sashimi and rice plate. This is from a person who does not eat fish much but I see how great it is when I see my family feast on it.

I come here often during my lunch break. They have snacks, sushi, and drinks. Very nice staff. Good prices

Small Japanese market in MP. We love picking up some of the premade sushi rolls available. Also a great place to pick up certain authentic ingredients and produce. The shopping center also has a great spot for pickup beef bowls, and a whole lot more. Also an interesting pastry shop with a French Asian twist

Great market and hot food to go..

One of my favorite Japanese markets close to home oh, you need to go downtown or all the way out to Torrance or West Covina. This cute little market is family-owned and stock Bento of all different types. You will find all the basics you need for cooking and baking authentic Japanese food

Not many parking spaces but good prices.

There are not a whole lot of Japanese markets in the Monterey Park area. So if you want some Japanese items, this is the place to go to. There is a little bit of everything in this store. They have a kitchen that makes sushi, hot and cold foods, and there are also some tables and chairs to sit and eat. Their staff is very friendly and helpful.

I live in Redlands and whenever I come into the LA area I stop at Tozai to pick up some vegetarian sushi. This little market has the best sushi around along with other packaged goods. When I used to go to dodger games I would stop here and bring some sushi into dodger stadium.

Very small Japanese market with a decent amount of all the basics for sale (not even close to as large as a Nijiya or Mitsuwa market), it does have a large selection of bento lunches and sushi made fresh daily at the market that are very good. Tozai is a lifeline for the surrounding community during the Covid problem as it makes it easy for a lot of locals to still have access to fresh market food including vegetables quickly and conveniently.

My favorite local Japanese market that offers fresh sushi/sashimi and groceries!I frequent here about twice a month to stock up on Japanese ingredients and to have sashimi dinners with my family. The employees here are really patient and helpful. They make you feel right at home and are always happy to help you!The parking lot is shared with many other businesses, so it can get packed during lunch and evening hours. Its usually not too crazy though.

Love it here! Used to come with my Mom all the time when I was little to get Japanese candy, mochi and spam masubi. They still have all that and now they have added a little eating area for you to enjoy your food. Tiny place but great!

This place is TINY, but the selection is amazing. They have amazing lunch boxes with tons of food selection - spam musubis, chicken curry, vegetable tempura, and more - but the best selection can only be found in the morning when the market opens.

Free limited parking on site. Small grocery Japanese market with variety of Japanese seasoning, ingredients, fresh produces, fresh meat and fish. Also they have hot meal available besides of sushi, Tonkatsu, Katsudon, grilled chicken teriyaki, grilled Saba and salmon. Stopped by today for a quick meal and snacks. Food are delicious 👌👌👌.

I always buy sushi in this store. I saw sweeten red bean paste yesterday so I bought one to make rice cake soup. Before I opened the package I noticed it was expired five months ago! I won’t be mad if it’s expired few days because I understand sometimes they might be busy. But five months ? Not acceptable.

In addition to the wide selection of contemporary Japanese grub on display, they make fresh sushi, sashimi and bento throughout the day and package it up ready to grab and go. If like me, you find yourself at least an hour away from the nearest southern California beachfront sushi bar, but youre fiending for some raw fish, come here.
