Hop Hero is the place to be for home brewing. They have a huge selection of grains, hops and yeast and most importantly the staff have an amazing knowledge and are more than happy to share and give suggestions without being patronizing as can often by the case. If you havent switched to this store yet then you really should!

Wanting to get back into home brewing I stopped in and picked up a beer kit. The whole thing was easy and staff was helpful. Looking forward to drinking my first homemade beer in years.

They have lots of space to grow. Had a good selection of ingredients, but the layout made it hard to find things. Spacing things out and organizing a bit better will go a long way to make it a better experience. Prices were great and staff was helpful.

Jon is amazing! He is a fermentation guru in addition to knowing his hops. Want a custom recipe? This is your Go to spot. He has what you need to brew. Top notch customer service and just a really cool dude!

Came here on a Saturday mid afternoon for some grains and yeast. On the walk in you are met with boxes nicely stacked with hand drawn and colored art on them. This touch made picking a kit fun. You pass a little hallway and enter a massive space with more equipment then I could ever imagine! Even though they were pretty busy we were met by the staff and asked if we needed any help. We had a recipe but after looking at all the kits we decided to try one of theirs. The owner put it together and milled all the grains as well for us.You can see that the owner has passion for the craft/hobby with the attention to detail and the work that he has put into this new location. Weather its the knowledge, the hand drawn art or willingness to pull equipment off the shelf and measure height to make sure it would fit in our fermentation chamber.I am picky with where I do my business and usually drive to concord (over an hour drive) just to go to a store I liked. But now that this is here Im super excited about the home brew shop I have in my backyard! Will be here many many more times.

Hop Hero is a great local business, and I am glad I found them here in Sacramento.Went in today to buy some beer supplies and the staff was super helpful, even suggesting a few things to improve my beer. They know so much and clearly have the experience you need when you are learning a hobby like homebrewing. I learned alot, and I was just shopping for some grain and hops! I am legit excited to brew my beer now and see how it comes out with their suggestions.Besides that, the owner made sure to offer suggestions when i had questions. At one point I mentioned I was a beginner, so he threw in an ounce of hops to try out. I really appreciate the sincerity and enthusiasm for helping out a newby like me.They offer homebrewing classes for the community, I havent taken one yet but I will this summer. Happy to have such a nice local shop to support (and to have supporting me, too)!

Jon is super knowledge and ready to answer any questions you may have, regardless of your brewing experience. I once purchased a kit and got home before realizing that the recipe instructions didnt seem to match the contents of the bag. I drove back and Jon clearly (and patiently) explained what substitutions had to be made and how the numbers all worked out to be approximately the same recipe. He was right! In the end, it was a fantastic beer and I learned about making substitutions. Hop Hero has a customer for life.

Great service and great selection. Im new to the area and found this shop after a quick maps search. Came in for a 6gal bucket with spout and while he didnt have it on the shelf, Jon without hesitation parted out a valuable homebrew starter kit to get me what I needed. Dont let the size of the place fool you, Jon has everything you need and more to make a great beer! Ill definitely be a return customer!

Jon is a helpful guy and knowledgeable, only complaint I have is the yeast smack pac was DOA. I kept it in my fridge until brew day (2 weeks after buying) and it had no live yeast cells. I pitched it and waited...finally 2 days in I added another dry yeast pack I had in my fridge since last year and the fermentation took right off.

I come here all the time, prices are really good, compared to what i find online. Impressive selection of bottling and kegging equipment in the store.
