Very Sorry this place has gotten so bad :(I have lived here for the last 5 years. I have LOVED going to this store because they are close by, great prices, helpful, and a local small business. In the last 6+ months I have noticed a severe decline however. This morning I called to see what types of sheet siding they had available. The attendant wanted to know exactly what I was looking for. I explained I wasnt sure, because of wood prices these days, what all did he have available? :Like T1-11, fiber board sheets etc. The man proceeded to rattle off about 8 different types extremely quickly - many of them just plywood sheets - not really what I asked for. I tried to explain more what I meant after he stopped, at which time he hung up on me. I was clearly wasting his time as a customer looking for some information.I called back and asked to speak to a manager and was put through to someone. When I asked who I was speaking to he said a manager. When I asked his name he begrudgingly said Eric. I told him what had transpired and that I felt as though their customer service had been going down hill for a while. His reply was we are here seven days a wake ready to break our backs for you. I replied except when I call and get hung up on. He never apologized or offered any sentiment. I am hoping true management reads this and follows up. This is the third time I have complained to them this summer. About six months ago we asked for help loading our purchases and were told we could do it ourselves by one of the workers there - I did not see any back breaking going on. Very disappointed that this lovely gem has been allowed to slide in management. Off to Home depot I go.

Very rude, unprofessional staff if you rub them the wrong way even the slightest bit. I sent my partner in there to buy a pallet load of fence boards they were selling at a good price. Pallet was wrapped so couldnt see any of the material. Partner calls me, so I ask him to put the sales guy on the line so I can ask him to open the bundle before purchasing. He refuses, so I say you expect us to pay $600 for a unit of fence boards and you wont let us see what they look like? then he hangs up on me! So my partner, against my will, decides to buy them anyway. Well, guess what? Rotten boards and no refund! So, we get a store credit that takes us a year to figure what to buy so we dont lose the money all together! Ill pay more next time for better service.

Man, the customer service is great at the counter. Prices are through the roof EVERYWHERE and I watched a lot of people complain about it.... Me included. The genmen behind the counter was super gracious with his responses since he cant control them. It changed my attitude and I apologized. Just a great experience. Ish... Stopped by to pick up some 12 x 12 peel & stick floor tiles they have. It was marked as .50 / ft² or $12 / box for a box of 12 tiles. When I asked which is the correct price the guy insisted that there is 24 ft² per box, and that each 1 x 1 tile is actually 2 ft².We left without any tile, and this guy needs to learn how to do basic math.

A good go to for basic building supplies at a discount, with some specialty items here and there. Good prices, decent product that meets expectations, and helpful staff. Got most of what I needed at a fair price, especially with lumber having skyrocketed like it has.

These guys are the bomb, friendy knowledgeable and very competitive prices. Stock changes so shop often. For a small fee they will cut your wood, so bring your measurements.

I had a good experience. They had high end composite decking at half the normal cost and they deliver for a nominal fee.

We went to buy 11 windows, but the guy on the front desk said he was too busy (he wasn’t) and ask us to leave the measurements and he will call us, he never did. They don’t care. Horrible service.

This is my go to for lumber. They dont always have everything, but what they do have is a better price than the big names. Sometimes you might be surprised at what they do have. It can get pretty busy on weekends so it can be difficult to get help loading.

The prices were good but check to make sure the appliances work before you leave. Bought a dishwasher and microwave. The guy plugged in dishwasher showed us how great it worked. The microwave we bought was in the box so we didnt try it till we got it home. it did not turn on. Called them and the guy on the phone was rude said i should have read the return policy before i left. They called back a couple hour later said they pulled some strings to get a new one which we appreciated but again the guy on the phone hung up on me in the middle of me talking. Very busy only one person helping customers and a lot of guys just standing around.

Bought a 600.00 washer. Took it home didn’t work at all. Had to wait 30 days for the warranty to kick in. Called back 30 days later and they want 200.00 just to come out and look at something that didn’t work when we bought it. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We found a very reasonably priced door after a long search. Typical of a discount place, things are not particularly well arranged and theyre a bit understaffed, at least for the crowd on this particular Saturday afternoon. The price was worth any inconvenience.

Ive shopped here several times but will never go back. Consistently poor customer service. The staff has been rude and unhelpful. The prices are not even that good.

Super friendly and helpful folks with decent pricing. Ive only been here a few times but theyve been pretty busy each time. Once it is your turn though they take good care of you. It can be a bit intimidating of a place if youve never been in before. Not your typical home improvement store with signs explaining everything. More like a warehouse of material. If you know what you want it is great. Ill be going back for more as we continue working on our house.

Lesson learned. Never ever ever ever shop at Building Materials Bargain Center again. I mistakenly bought the wrong door yesterday. Loaded it up and took it home. Called this morning to see about return policy. No refund, which I saw the sign when I purchased yesterday but was thinking it was for installed product or for opened items. Nope. Doesn’t matter. Once an item leaves their place, there is no refund. Which is fine. So I asked for possibly in store credit. They say no because once the door leaves, it never comes back the same. It was literally loaded and unloaded. That’s it. I’m furious. Never doing business with this place again. The price wasn’t even that great in comparison to a box store. But it was locally owned and I was trying to support it. So much for this place. Never. Never. Again. Lesson learned. Also, if you have had a bad experience with this place. I highly recommend leaving a review here and going to their Facebook page and letting others know. Save others from the same horrible experience.

Went there strictly looking for lumber for a project and found almost everything I was looking for. Staff were helpful, friendly, and familiar with their inventory. Only recommendation is that staff were a name tag or a hat so they are easier to identify when browsing; i was asked three times in 30 minutes if I worked there.

Had excellent service in the appliance warehouse from Mike. I think he moved half the warehouse to find the microwave we were looking for. Bought a dishwasher and fridge too, because of his good service.

Ok but not worth the drive from Redmond as prices are not much better. Did have some beautiful doors.

Building Materials Bargain Center is the best place in Salem, Oregon to buy lumber, nails, and anything you need to build anything. They even have windows. The guys that work there are the best ! My friend and neighbor reminded me to check out this store rather than go to H.D. Instead of buying about $50 of lumber I found two doors for 5 bucks each that were perfect.

We were looking for pressure treated 2by. We didnt find what we needed, the crew worked to help us. Great bunch of guys. We needed 2x6x10 for a Eagle scout project for a deck for a disabled Vietnam vet.

Employee in the appliance center not masked and not apologetic about it… Id rather wait 3 months for an appliance then get covid, thanks but no thanks!

DONT BUY APPLIANCES HERE. I bought a dishwasher here went home installed it didnt work. Brought it back the next day to return it they said call GE to come fix it or fix it yourself and sell it, I couldnt believe my ears! We got into a heated argument and they lost a customer for life. Home depot takes returns all day long, shop there instead!

The store is currently open in allows in-store shopping.there is a good variety of various products that one can use to rebuild, repair, or to expand their housing.

We recently decided to replace all the trim in our home and heard great things about this place from a couple different people so we decided to check it out. We found the trim we wanted and it was less than 1/3 the price from one of the big box stores in town! We bought it in the late morning, requested some cuts so that we could transport it and it was ready by early afternoon. We will definitely be back many times while we tackle our long list of projects!

Easy transaction, and quality product. I purchased a fine piece of oak that was perfect for my project. They even cut it for me and were nice and quick with the purchase. Don’t shop at the large places if you don’t have to when a local company like this not only beats them on price, but quality service.

This place is incredible. It has everything you would need or want in the way of building materials. Also, a large amount of dented or slightly damaged appliances(about 40% to 50% original value), with one year warranty. The prices are good and a lot of the materials are substandard, but usable for many situations where are you dont need perfect materials to get your job done. The staff or one young man, was very helpful.

Love this place, its like a candy store for woodworkers.

I realize that some people cant be satisfied or pleased but I am not one of those people. Went in there today to pick various supplies. The counter help was not helpful at all. Almost got the feeling I was interrupting their day. They looked like they were in low gear. Finally after paying for overpriced green 2x6 boards and fair priced 4x8 siding sheets I drove around the corner to load up. There was a pickup w/trailer being loaded with plywood so I waited for the kid on the fork lift to get done and casually drove past the other rig and pulled up far enough so the fork lift could get by with another load, if needed. When I got out to load my hardboard siding the fork lift driver stopped and I said I hoped I left plenty of room for him too. The fork lift driver said, in a snotty voice, that I was partially in a no parking zone then the turd stood and watched me preparing to load the siding,,,,,,,,,,,by myself. The customer being loaded with plywood jumped over there and offered to help me. Meanwhile, that inconsiderate fork lift driver stood a couple feet away and didnt offer any help or lift a finger. First time there and will NEVER go back and will tell everyone I know what terrible service this place has.

I use these guys for countless projects, personal and business and they are fabulous. Whether it is a special order, custom mill or something off the warehouse floor, they never fail to impress. We have them special mill molding for our business, have had them special order countless products for our custom home and Ive been so impressed with the whole team as well as their pricing. I think theyre the best supply company in Salem.

This luxury vinyl plank flooring was $3.69 per foot 2 months ago and I got it for $1.60! My new fridge was $2300 retail but because it had a dent on the roof it was only $1025! Gene has a great team there, they cared more about protecting my old work truck than I do!

Sometimes when a business is doing well they lose site. Start treating customers like their a dime a dozen and not important.This happens...but it creates an opportunity for a competitor to eventually get your customers.Not acceptable.

It was great shopping there, it had 99.5% of everything I was looking for plus, items needed for future projects. Workers there were courteous and polite as well as helpful.

Not all prices are bargains - shop carefully. The policy of no refunds, only in store credit is strictly enforced, even if you ask for one thing and they sell you another and upon returning they dont have the correct product!

Bought $900 in composite decking. The employees were loading it as I was paying. I was assured they would pick out the undamaged material. Anyways glad I sorted through it before leaving. In total there was about $250 in unusable broken deck boards loaded on my trailer. Not just a little scuffed up but totally unusable garbage hidden under the nice boards. Then it seemed like a hassel to them as I requseted usable boards. Employee stated best price in town, but what good is that when you cant use the material. Guy behind counter was awesome and actually came out and helped sort the good from the bad. That helped the buying experience. But i almost feel like they loaded the junk boards up on purpose as they were all hidden under nice boards. Buyer beware.

We love shopping here, everything and I do mean everything is at least 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the big box stores, sometimes their prices are more than 1/2 of other places. We were shopping for Windows and had gotten quotes from lowes and home Depot for a custom odd ball size to replace our old single pane aluminum frame windows. I knew they carried a few sizes so we went there didnt find our size,out of complete curiosity I asked if they did custom orders...wound up getting the same exact windows for 1/3 the price of big box stores... How they do it I dont know. Customer service is always great my wife has gone there and they always help her load materials into the van...awesome place recommend to all. If you dont see what you need just ask they can get just about anything!!

Dont treat this company like the big box stores because they are much more down to earth and honest, they are just a good small town bussiness trying to do whats right by thier people and their customers.

When we purchased a foreclosed home there all the closets were gutted with no doors. I custom built my closets and purchased the doors from here. What major stores would have charged me to do what I wanted I was able to do for half the price from here. I just had to do some extra steps, but saved so much. Current project is a new deck.

This place is unprofessional and the workers/owners are crooks! I purchased a stove and fridge when I was there buying a few items so I wasn’t prepared to take my new stove and fridge home so I left it there when I returned to pickup fridge and stove (already paid for) they had switched fridges on me and gave me a really dented and banged up one and sold the original fridge to another customer! So I’m stuck with a fridge I don’t want. Don’t ever go there unless you want to get ripped off and lied too

Staff friendly and helpful, BUT the owner is very rude. He needs an attitude check. If he still hasn’t read any of these reviews and catched on how many of us are complaining about his awful customer service. Maybe he should stay in the back to avoid offending everyone. I feel terrible for the employees and how they have to put up with him.

This place is HORRIBLE! Would have given them 0 stars but you cant. I have been in a few times and the owner (i am told his name is gene) was rude beyond belief. Ordered a window for a remodel, was told it would be in on a certain date, called to check and it was delayed by a week. Was told this was my fault because timeline included a holiday. This wasnt mentioned when I ordered the window and when they assured me it would be in on June 10th. Had a contractor waiting for the window and this delayed the whole job. No apologies, no trying to make it right, nothing. The owner basically blamed me even though they told me when I ordered the window it would be in on the 10th. If I could have gone somewhere else to get the window I would have but by then we had already waited for it through them for two weeks.

Prices are great and the staff is helpful. I even trust them to do cuts, and if you have ever had home depot try that than you know what I mean.

Normally everyone is so friendly and helpful but today not so much. Eric even with his arm in a sling helped us with our materials and was so nice he checked us out, we were at the counter paying 30 minutes before closing, he told us to drive over by the wood we needed in the front but Chris from the back room yelled out we would have to wait someone else was already there, we went in the direction that Eric told us and no one else was there we pulled around to the other side and a truck was in there being loaded so we thought ok this is where we wait, when the truck pulls out, we pull in after a few minutes Chris comes back and says what are you here for, when we told him he said not here its around front (where Eric tried to tell us to go) then I said ok can someone help me load it and he said probably not we are now closed. Have never been treated like that at this place before, thought ok just go get your stuff and leave, after I had loaded most of it a nice young boy named Justin came out and helped me finish. I dont know what position Chris holds but his customer service skills are not an asset to your company. We have spent $500.00 there in the last two weeks and our next purchase was going to be flooring and a new patio slider but not sure if we want to be treated like that again.
