Went in as a first timer to this location needing a saddle to cradle a split 55 gallon drum for a raised bed garden. Had one thing in mind and left there with an equally sufficient alternative. This is a metal tradespersons dream lot! Ill definitely be back....again and again!

If you’ve been to cherry city metals and scrapped metal you definitely know me the blonde with a big smile and the best customer service haha. Working for cherry city Metals opened so many doors for me. I was a young single mother when I started, working two jobs barely getting by when they hired me. Going to work every day was like my second home. most employees at cherry city metals have been there over five years. There is even multiple employees that have been there 20+ years. I made extremely good money and I was well taken care of. I recently left cherry city metals because I got a job with the state of Oregon but I would go back to work at Cherry city metals in a heartbeat. I already miss them! this is an amazing company to work for❤️

Every time I go out there I get inspired to do another things on top of things sculpture (Apologies to Monty Python). Modern technology produces almost any shape imaginable in steel and aluminum, which is half the battle if youre not as rich as Jeff Koons and his ilk. Tom, who runs the scrap section, is a great guy and and a great welder and does not mind sharing a tip of two to a mediocre welder like me.The photo shows my latest entitled :Get Off My Lawn You KIds!

Went with a family member in their pick up and trailer to unload a load of sheet metal.When you arrive your vehicle is weighed and you are given a ticket, dont loose this ticket. You need it in the aluminum area and you need it when you are leaving.They have two main areas you unload your Sheetmetal - one fortin one for aluminum, they direct you where to go. Before you come there it is best to separate the metal types if you can, if you unload all in the tin area you will get less money, aluminum, brass, copper etc. pays more.If you have your metal separated then unload the aluminum etc. first, then go to the main area where you might be lucky and the biggrabber or magnet will unload your vehicle for you. Otherwise if you need to separate it to find the aluminum etc., tell the guy you want to do it yourself. They are very helpful and will help you if they have time.I have found the workers always helpful and pleasant.You have to be aware here, as there are several grabber and magnet machines always working sorting and moving different metal types from one area to another, and unloading vehicles; forklifts running here and there, but I have never seen anyone hurt.When you are ready to leave you go and get weighed again on the way out and your receipt/ ticket is updated. You go park in the parking area, go to the office and turn your ticket in.You get paid in cash for tin, and a check is sent to you for aluminum, bread, copper etc.Be prepared, this place is popular and you wait in line as needed to enter, to unload, to weigh in leaving and in the office . But it is worth it and is a fun experience.If you are handicapped at all it is best to be the passenger and stay in the vehicle and leave the moving around outside the truck to the able-bodied. Also I dont believe you can bring children into the area, you MIGHT be able to if they stay in the vehicle but you should call and find out, to be on the safe side.

Do not work for this company they will not value you as an employee, or even as a human!!!I applied went to interview. They called and told me they didnt pick me! ok thats fine no big deal. So I got a job offer at a diffrent place. The day before I was going to start cherry city metals called me and said they wanted to hire me.... ok so I thought this was a better opportunity. I was wrong!!! I got covid right after I started there so I had to not be there for 2 weeks and then.... they worked me for 1 week and fired me!!! These people that work here with exception of one employee, are untrustworthy and really dont care about there employees!

Dropped off a large aluminum tool for recycling. They were quick to get it unloaded and send me on my way. They have a well-laid out facility and staff at the weigh house that can tell you exactly where to go. Im headed back Monday afternoon with another huge aluminum tool. Looking forward to going back.

I love picking through the scrap for project parts. The card reading can get backed up so bring cash if you are in a hurry. Bring gloves and closed toed shoes.

Its a really nice place to go to scrap unwanted metals and a real easy process, just drive up to the scale and get directed to the correct spot and get the metal weighed get your receipt head to the office and get your money

Really the only place that you can bring mixed metals and get in and out quickly. Its down to a science and the more organized you are the faster you can moved. Best prices that I can find any they are willing to take anything that can be bundled up and shipped out.

They pay less for scrap then anymore else... They use the fact that people have no other options for selling scrap locally... A person to make anything for scrap need to take to Portland and Cherry city uses this fact and keeps their prices low even for customers that comes in to sell scrap sometimes two to three times a day...

Ive been a customer for 20 years there is a lot right with this place.Mostly I buy misc bits from Tom and Kenny and they are really great people. It is fun to see what they have...I always need something.

A decent selection of used and new metal for projects, some salvaged materials, stainless steel and farm equipment. Been shopping here for years. Also drop off scrap metal for salvage and pizza money.

The safety here is taken seriously and they are above par! Price is better in Portland. However, customer service makes up for the price! Very helpful and nice. Woman at scale and the cashier were both drop dead gorgeous!!

Best day ever! I spent a good portion of my day at Cherry city metal recycling looking for some stainless steel for cabinet Im making to hold my Tormek grinding machine. I spent my day with Tom one of the employees there he was so friendly and kind and patient. I had a big smile on my face. It felt like I was a kid again scavenging for parts to fix one of my bicycles. Of course I walked away with a lot more invention ideas, a big smile on my face and a new friend.

My experience with cherry city metal always has been very good. Customer Service are very nice to person. Yard worker and Foreman were nice to me every time i went there. Great place to bring your metal.

Got lots of stuff for metal projects you may have in mind. Office staff real friendly, yard folks just doing their job attitudes. Not rude but certainly not friendly or glad to help. They will help, IF you go find them and are willing to wait until they get around to you. I will keep going there because of the selection: A Metal workers playland!

I agree with the other guy who checked the website, loaded up and found them closed. The web site clearly states that they will be closed on thanksgiving day only. I too, after checking the site, loaded up my trailer and headed in. I found them closed and couldn’t use my trailer the rest of the weekend because it was loaded with steel. It would be helpful if they would update their web site to accurately reflect their actual hours of operation and closure.

The reason I give this place such a low rating is that only at time to get payed for the metals that I brought in was I notifying an informed that I will be receiving your check mailed out 2 days from the day that I went to the scrap yard

I brought sorted stainless steel which they told me was worth 28 cents/lb. After Showing that a magnet picked up pieces smaller than a gram they told me they could give me the price for mixed stainless steel which was 7 cents a gram. They told me I could sort it. Their English skills rapidly deteriorated at this point and they looked worried when I called the other steel I brought mild steel and might have an understanding what a ferrous metal is. By the time I got to the counter my ticket only had irony stainless steel on it for 4 cents/lb, not what I agreed to. The people in the warehouse are unable to listen and Im guessing the lady behind the glass is behind glass because she is unwilling to listen. These people make their money ripping off mentally ill people with drug habits. That is why they have to take your ID and mail you a check. Dont expect more than 4 cents/lb for steel unless you really want to get into it at the junkyard.

I took 140 pounds of aluminum from windows and only got $40 that’s like .40 cents a pound a few weeks earlier I took cast aluminum in and got it at .90 cents a pound And I was told that if I had brought in aluminum light from aluminum windows I would’ve got a better price. What the heck. I got totally ripped off. Very unhappy and I hope that they contact me to make it right

I went in for the first time today. People were rude and there was no signage to give direction as to what I needed to do. Also the guy who checked my I.D. couldnt even find the address on my license. I hope I dont ever need to go back. I would give zero stars if it was an option
