Michaels always has the cutest holiday decor. I love walking through the store. Only wish they had more employees on the sales floor to answer questions or direct you to product.
I brought a picture into the store to be re- matted. Sage ( who I understand left for other employment :( … did an absolute fabulous job advising me and redoing my picture. It’s perfect now. When I picked it up Sage had gone and Trevor helped me. It’s rare that I find two employees like Trevor and Sage who are experienced, kind, joyful and absolutely awesome to work with!! Kudos to Micharls. You should give Trevor a raise and get Sage back with an offer she can’t refuse (no horse heads tho!!). This is not to say the other employees aren’t great as well. That’s what keeps me going back!
Good Michaels store, my only complaint is that they dont have origami paper
I havent been to this Michaels in a long time they seem very very low on stock and it was pretty quiet in there I saw a few new crafts that I havent tried but nothing really caught my eye and I left without purchasing anything.I went to the new Target near Michaels and I was extremely disappointed. What I thought could have made a wonderful target store looks a little like an old Kmart. Just didnt look like a Target at all. I dont know if theyre just getting started or what it is but its not good. However, I did have a fantastic time at spoons and spice. Now I know why I dont go in there very often I discover about 5 million kitchen gadgets that I dont currently own and I dont have kitchen to put them in!
Juniper needs a raise. They were amazing, super friendly, and speedy. Made my day talking to them. This is now my regular craft store and I am the Tasmanian devil, the God, the almighty crafter. I will spend so much money here only because of Juniper.
The old lady at the front desk was adorable. She wrapped my watercolor pencils in paper with dedication and she was super nice. Definitely one of my favorite stores.
This is the best michaels in the area, the employees are kind and thoughtful and really helped me out when my online order got messed up in processing. I was refunded the full order and was touched by their courtesy. I wish Id noted the managers name, but I didnt, but if you ever read this, youre so awesome.
This location is always the same, pretty dirty and the employees are so slow. I have the same issue every time I go in with my phone number/account even though they say they fix it every time. It’s never a quick or appealing shopping center experience, I would rather drive farther to a different location. Management doesn’t seem to jump in when the employees have a long line for checking out, it’s always frustrating.
Went in here looking for some quick and easy paint supplies and Trevor stopped to help me find everything SUPER quick which is perfect cause I was in a hurry. Will be returning here just cause his customer service was that good.
Clean store. Well stocked. Pricing labeled clearly.
Sort of small compared to other stores but friendly staff and great clearance section
Nice store, a bit pricey
Over the past few decades I have shopped at the Sugar House Michaels - well more then I can count. Ive had several items framed - although, I believe Michaels picture framing is rather pricey. All the items they framed for me over the years I have been impressed with the quality of their work.NOW TO THE YOUNG LADY, TAYSIA, THAT WAITED ON ME AND MY NINETY-TWO-YEAR-OLD LADY FRIEND WHO USES A WALKER. YOU ARE AWESOME, AMAZING AND A QUALITY INDIVIDUAL. Taysia was extremely patient while I had her pull nearly every frame sample off the racks. I waffled back and forth - just couldnt make up my mind. She patiently wait and encouraged me to take my time. Also, Taysia located a chair for the elderly lady to sit down. Sooooo cool and thoughtful of her.Thank you Taysia.
Always loved buying crafts at Michaels! This is one my favorite location because they are mostly in stock with inventory. Clean and friendly staffs.
Love this store and they have great customer service.
Always a pleasure to shop here. I found some interesting creative toys for my grandkids.
Its a great store. Prices are a bit high on some things but they have a huge clearance section which is nice. U can always find a coupon but they arent for that much usually. It has of variety of stuff for many hobbies. And thePeople have always been super nice and friendly. So overall I would recommend this store to crafty people.
I actually went here because I thought it was a Kraft store, and I wanted to stock up on Mac and Cheese for the coming apocalypse, but it was still great because they had all kinds of junk with American flags on it.
I love Michaels, but the staff at this one seems to neglect the coupons and discounts that we usually enjoy at Michaels.
Has the best supplies, no matter what your craft is! Use your 20% coupon for savings.
Amazing inventory and great location within Sugarhouse shopping area. The staff were very helpful. Carts had a sanitized and used area clearly marked with an associate making sure they were clean ready for the next customer. Masks of course are required to enter the store. The store was clean and easily shop-able. The older lady at check was great with each customers he interacted with. It has become my favorite Michael’s store.
Going doen hill fast. Empty shelves everywhere. One check out line slowly moving. Im switching to hobby lobby
This place runs sales ads with GOTCHA fine print. I dont know why I went back after 5 years of avoidance. I cannot say that the service was friendly or helpful. Almost as if I was bothering them to try and purchase nearly $300 in art supplies.I WAS SO FRUSTRATED BY THE SHADY WORDING UPON CHECKOUT THAT I GAVE ALMOST EVERYTHING BACK EXCEPT WHAT I ABSOLUTELY NEEDED IMMEDIATELY.Order what I put back from online sellers with free same day and two day delivery for HALF of the Michaels total.IN THIS DAY AND AGE THEY ARE A DINOSAUR WHO WILL QUICKLY BECOME EXTINCT with clever ads that dont meet consumer expectations.I will NOT be back.I DO NOT recommend.🌟 1 Star (because I couldnt leave a ZERO) Hated it!#richferguson143 @richferguson143
Always good customer service.
I ordered on line, and thought that I had changed the location. I waited and waited, and finally was given a sack, that did not have my name. Thank goodness I checked before I left with someone else picture frames. Then I had to drive to a second store to get my order...no offer to just get my items at the store I was at. Too bad for me.
With how busy is it this time of year, the lines were SUPER long. Great news though! They have associates walking around to scan your items so that when you get to the front you swipe your card, they bag your items, and BOOM. In and out in 15 minutes or less.
Great service, fantastic staff, convienent location. There are definanyoy larger outlets for craft supplies. But for downtown, this Sugarhouse location is your only bet.The staffs service will have you coming back
Ive never been to Michaels before until my friend and I needed some decorative ideas involving vibes and flowers and OH MY GOD! I am in love with their variety and options
Understaff. Took long time to pay and get out of the store.
As Stacy assisted me in looking for paint-markers, she was nice and did her best to help me. Unfortunately she didnt have the knowledge and this store did not have the inventory for the project I am working on. So she referred me to a completely different store (not Michaels). I am very happy with her customer service! As I went to leave this store, I saw $5 grab bags at the front. Most items were concealed in cardboard boxes to surprise customers with the contents. But this store also had portable easels (one side is dry erase and one side is a chalkboard. Both sides haveclips to hold onto the canvas or paper being used!) marked down from $30!!Evalyn was the cashier and was very thorough, helpful, and delightful with not only me, but with each of the customers that were ahead of me.This store seems smaller. Yet the aisles are narrower and packed with plenty of merchandise! Ill definitely return to this location! Thank you Stacy, Evalyn, & Sage!
I feel like this store used to be a different store that Michael’s took over. It just so much more stocked that other locations I’ve been too. It’s also nice to see so many people working at the store. It’s usually really hard to get any help at any of their locations. This was a nice change.
Great place for crafty people and more!
This Michaels is the closest one to me, but its relatively small compared to the WVC or Ft Union locations, and consequently more likely to either not carry or be sold out of what I need, particularly when it comes to the needlecraft section. Theyre well stocked for vinyl plotter art though, having an especially wide selection of Siser and Oracal vinyl.
Could not believe the items they have lot of crafts
I was really excited with the fall sale they were having, got some good stuff, my problem however was not the store itself or even the long line, I didn’t have a problem waiting at all. What upset me was that I found a cute mug and it was the only one left of its kind, when the cashier (I think her name was tricia) rung me up she put my bag of items on the counter a little too hard and chipped my mug then proceeded to ask if I wanted wrapped AFTER SHE HAD ALREADY CHIPPED IT. I tried to brush it off, I showed her that I had a coupon on my Michael’s app and she scanned it through the glass (it went through, I could see on her monitor) and she then grabbed my phone under the glass and proceeded to try to scan it a bunch of times until she realized it had already gone through. The reason this upset me is because obviously the glass barriers are there for a reason, and I absolutely hate germs there was no reason for her to touch my phone because the coupon had gone through just fine when she scanned it through the glass. I usually love my trips to Michael’s as the employees are usually very friendly and helpful but I did not feel like the customer service was all there, this time.
This store is my favorite place to go shopping lots of things new and you can make good crafts and all that you need for what ever your project is, I love it !
Can always find what your looking for qt Michaels.
So friendly! I had a question about knitting and cashier got me the help I needed and was patient and fun! Who knew buying yarn could be such an uplifting experience?
One thing you can always count on at this store: there will be insufficient numbers of check-out people. Plan on spending at least 15 minutes in line when it took you 2 minutes to shop.Every. Single. Time.I just want to update this review and say, 2 years later it’s still the same. There’s still usually 1 cashier, 2 if you’re lucky, and a massive line every time I go in.
Feels like Disneyland when I walk in Michaels they have great sales.
I love Michaels. You can find beautiful stuffs. I love this place
Great place to find arts and crafts items, with a wide selection.
Just ok. But it is arts and craft nirvana! The fort union branch is much much better than the sugar house branch.
Great craft store, the got most of the basic stuff to get you started. They got a little bit of all kinds crafts. The staff was helpful and friend. They have taken good steps to protect us, in this pandemic. All staff wear masks and they got clear divider at registers, and spacing reminders. Plus while at this store close to 100٪ of customers were wearing masks. The space is a bit cramped.
Michaels has always been a great place to go to for all your project ideas. It has a great group of staff that are always kind and ready to go the extra mile for you. It is even got great gift ideas if you cant find that creative something for someone you love. The store is always well cleaned, organized and if you cant find something staff is always helpful to look in the back for it. If they still cant seem to find it they will order it off line for you to pick up at the store!
Ok selection. They’re pretty helpful here, and I’m happy to shop here rather than Hobby Lobby to avoid their garbage politics.
I love going to Michaels, they have so many useful and fun items. Best store to go to for any crafty and creative items, and a great yarn selection too. Plus they usually have good deals and clearance items. Great store! I recommend going here if your ever need any yarn or crafting materials.
Low stock throughout entire store, tried to get help finding Rit fabric die for 30 minutes to no avail, spent 15 minutes waiting at the spray paint for an employee to open the gate (no one ever came), when I finally gave up and went to check out only one register was open despite three employees standing around two of which were loudly having a personal conversation with no regard for any customers. The only upside to is that being a Michaels it has somethings you cant find many other places but definitely just go to any other Michaels locations.
Older cashier was the nicest lady to the 12 year old Caucasian group of girls before us.Me and my husband both Hispanic, came up asked for a price match said she couldn’t do it on the items advises her that’s fine asked if I could get the combo pack instead since it was cheaper that way. I guess that annoyed her, it wasn’t much of a difference in price so she had to state it in a rude way like if it was too much trouble to void the other 2 items. Got me receipt she didn’t say anything. Worst customer service ever. Will not be returning ever. Definitely do not recommend this Michaels. Go to any other one than this one.
Eh. Its a craft store.. I kinda wish they were more stocked.. even when we dont have a pandemic going on..
Love the pens! Great service.
Workers are so nice and even though they are busy they are always willing to help!
Great deals & nice employees here. But product wise in the paint section is a little out of stock. Not sure if its the Covid-19 or just kids painting in the summer more. Didnt have the typically normal colors I was looking for in acrylic paint.
Always has what I need at an extremely good price. I love Michaels so much. I once bought 4 medium-size nice frames for $60. Unreal. Anyways, always amazing. (My only complaint is that they put up their Christmas decor BEFORE Thanksgiving- why?!)
Has arts and crafts, good prices, is well-stocked, but pretty slow at the check-out.
For being a smaller Michaels they have a great variety. They do craft classes, some free some with cost, but very affordable when there is a cost. Example free classes: canvas painting and cookie decorating. Example paid class: t-shirt decorating. Staff is always helpful and kind. Thay also almost always have a 40% off coupon. We love shopping at Michaels.
It was great, I took two photos in that I had blown up to 8×10 and found two in less than 5 minutes. And they were bogo!
They have lots of stuff. Good service
The Sugarhouse area has always seemed to me like a teenager thats a little confused about what its doing but charges ahead full steam without thinking about the consequences. If it wasnt for Google Maps I would never have found my way to Michaels in the first place. The store is laid out differently from every other Michaels Ive ever seen but I was happy to find exactly what I was looking for and check out was fun and easy. The overall experience was very positive. The store was clean and the lady who checked us out was friendly and efficient.
Lots of arts and crafts supplies at a reasonable price!
This is probably my favorite Michaels in Utah. It SEEMS larger to me, but is difficult for me to say for sure because it is an unusual orientation. This location typically has everything Id expect at Michaels--craft supplies, hobby supplies, baking supplies, etc. It also seems to have slightly more variety. This IS a busier location, so probably anticipate a wait if you are shopping when its busy. Id recommend for basically all your craft and some decor needs.
Great variety and great prices however, for the amount of staff they only keep ine or two cashier lanes open. I spent more time in line than i did shopping
Just like other Michaels stores. Never had a problem with items not being in stock. They offer many great weekly discounts and coupons on their website. The parking lot can get quite full due to the amount of businesses around that people shop at.
Nothing on shelves. Ad said major clearance but nothing was in the store or set into one area. Clearance section was completely empty. Had to walk around moving everything to see if it was on clearance. Also could not move up and down aisles the workers had every single aisle blocked with ladders or boxes.
Great place for women and their hobbies
Store is good, workers are exhausted, and selection is decent
Has anyone tried contacting their customer service lately? Due to covid-19 they only have an automated message when calling Michaels 1-800 number. I ordered an e-card online as a gift but my friend did not receive it. Now we cant get a hold of customer service for a refund. Fortunately, they did respond quickly when sending a message on FB.
Great prices. Amazing discount sales. Friendly staff.
This place is great. Didnt really know they existed until I needed a frame. When I purchased it, they honored an online coupon.Ill definitely go back.
Love this store compared to the others. People are usually nice and I always have a good coupon for something off. So, crazy good prices. I just bought like 5 super bulk canvas packs for $30 I was so stoked! Waiting in line is a forever thing though. Theres always like one maybe two cashiers but like 17 people in line.
Service was good. And selection was impressive
Quick and reliable customer service, even though the person that was answering the call button by the markers and pencils kept getting stopped on her way over, she helped everybody she could in a quick and timely manner.
Nice place to shop for art supplies. A bit more corporate than I like though.
Good selection. Expect to stand at least 20 minutes in the checkout line. They never have enough people to check out. They never have enough people working. Dont expect help because youll never find an employee to help you. Expect to crawl the store to find things yourself. 2/5 stars.Update: the employees at this location are truly incompetent. I used to wait thought the 20 minute lines, and help myself (because god knows an employee will never help you) because this location is closest to my house. Its truly not worth it anymore. Id rather drive across the valley than return to this store. Seriously not worth it. 0/5 stars.
We shop a Michaels quite a bit. Me teenage daughter is a VIP slimer. 320,000 followers on Instagram. Michaels provided curbside delivery, bringing our online purchase out to my car. Theyre great.
Even when looking for products the employees are not accustomed to finding, they have looked for me. Nice to be in and out quickly during these uncertain times!
Always run into a problem with h!ving too few skeins in same dye lot. Otherwise a great store.
I had a wonderful experience yesterday with a cashier named Ashlie. She was cheerful and helpful. It was very refreshing as most employees I interact with at Michaels seem to be busy and annoyed when I try to talk to them. But Ashlie stuck with me until my problem was resolved, and I really appreciated that.
They are not particularly well stocked in the items they carry. I went for metal stamping supplies, and a fair few of the selections were sold out. It is not the first time I have gone to this Michaels and left without what I wanted. If you go without a plan and are seeking inspiration, youll find it there. They have very nice seasonal selections. This Michaels has a far better findings and beading selection than other competing, nearby craft stores. I would look here first for supplies that are a bit uncommon, but dont be surprised if its not there the first time you go in. Very helpful and friendly staff!
Friendly staff. We caught a cool sale. Usually not the best prices. On this occasion we scored. Only issue.... One cashier. We waited in line like Wal Mart style. 30 minutes to check out ruins a shopping experience.
I love Michael’s but these days they’ll hire anyone, if you don’t want to be in retail then get a new job!! Or fix your process!!
I love going to Michaels its a great place to get anything you need for art and yarn and much more stuff, the staff there is very friendly.
This is one of the good Michaels locations. There are some, like Bountiful Michaels, that have a cursed feel to them. This one is pure, is always stocked well, and has great service. I feel safe here. Parking is not bad and its in a great location. :)
Half of the items in this store are under lock and key - you cant even buy pens without getting a sales associate to help you; and sales associates are always difficult to find. The store has a good selection, but there are much better Michaels.
Everything you need, want, and more for every kinda crafts! Plus, they almost always have a 40% off one regular priced item coupon and clearances in-store and online. The staff are incredible
Very helpful staff.
Terrible selection of basic sewing supplies and several mis stocked thread colors. Checkout was slow. Very very expensive for basic stuff. Definitely not saving money as a do-it-yourself project if shopping here.
Very dissapointing. They Dont even sell bra accessories. Also, the restrooms are filthy. They look like they havent been cleaned in years.
They need more friendly helpful staff and more inventory. It was the 3rd time I went there and they were out of Faber Castle pens. Their shelves seem half empty. Thumbs down on this location
Love this store always have
My girlfriend loves shopping at Michaels! So do I. Theres some pretty awesome stuff. Like hemp twine, tie dye kits, and other fun stuff. I also get the oil for my lamp there. Michaels is a pretty sweet place.
