Best vegan donuts I’ve tried, and that’s across state lines! I love donuts and was sad when I first went vegan because I thought I had to give them up. I’m so grateful Utah has Big O Doughnuts because they make the best donuts I’ve ever had, vegan or not. They’ve got the basics (chocolate, glazed, maple, donut holes) and fun flavors! They make delicious traditional and cake donuts. The price is higher than non-vegan donuts but I’ll drive the 45 minutes from Provo and pay that for these donuts because they are so good. They’re donut holes are a cheaper option which is nice when they have them! Andd if you like jelly-filled donuts, you’ve got to try theirs! It’s the best jelly-filled donut I’ve ever had!!
For starters, kudos to this place for being 100% vegan and doing so successfully. Ive had excellent and terrible vegan donuts before, but most have just been a one-off donut from a shop that is not strictly vegan. I love the texture on the raised donuts here - soft with a little bit of density. The highlight for me was their earl grey donut, which was quite unique and perfectly balanced herbal flavor with sweetness. The jelly donut was a bit overpowering - it could have used less filling. I didnt try any cake donuts because Im an idiot, and didnt realize it until after I left! But their case is mostly filled with raised donuts. Nonetheless, Big O has some of the better vegan donuts Ive ever had.
You don’t have have to be vegan to appreciate these delicious donuts. Unique flavors like lavender or lemon basil elevate these to gourmet pastries.
Super cute place! Lots of crazy interesting donuts to try! Definitely ordered too many haUnique and good tastes but some of the donuts felt too bready, the party is in the frosting. Still, worth waiting in the wind (only 2 groups allowed inside at a time due to covid)Lemon donut was good! My friend liked that and the strawberry lemonade cream filled one, chocolate was good, another friend liked the tea one, and passionfruit was also good 👍
Every time Im in the Salt Lake area, or anywhere even close to it, I make it a point to stop here. Even if its an hour out of my way! I have tried vegan donuts across the country, and this is one of my favorites. Most shops offer a cake donut, but this place has a huge variety of donuts including cream-filled, and every single one is delicious! Ive shared these donuts with a lot of people, and no one has ever guessed that they were vegan.
All donuts are vegan, so, of course they’re awesome. Coffee was actually pretty darn good as well. I shall return!
Fantastic vegan donuts! I went on a Saturday morning and was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Our favorite was the passionfruit donut. Amazingly, you had to strain to taste whether they were vegan or not. The only tell-tale sign for me was the “cream” in the cream filled donut. Otherwise these delicious donuts satisfy even the pickiest eaters.
Update - Some of the unique donuts were gorgeous. However, none of the flavors we tried were something wed get again.. The classics, like Boston cream, were simply bland. Cool to try tho. They were sold out and closed when we stopped by. Made a special trip for it, will likely not return, but will update if we do.
I didn’t know going in, but this is a plant-based donut shop. They were very delicious with a really good texture. You can this shop is environmentally friendly. I don’t know the cost difference of plant-based vs traditional dough, but I felt the prices were much higher than other donut shops. I also had their fresh orange juice, very delicious and fresh, but also very pricey for a small cup.
Delicious churro cake donut. Never had that flavor before anywhere and it was simply perfect. The coffee was quite wonderful as well. Not a lot of seating inside so if you come at a busy time you may not have a place to sit if you’re planning to stick around. Definitely come enjoy this place no matter what!
Absolutely gorgeous doughnut shop in the heart of SLCs gay-borhood. Dont come here expecting boring flavors, everything we saw during our trip was incredibly artisan; you can tell a lot of love goes into these doughnuts. Was happy to be informed they carry both yeasted and cake donuts (yeast doughnuts being more traditional (ie: soft, airy, deliciousness) and cake donuts being more.. well, cake-like.))I have enough cakey doughnuts at home, so we went for every flavor of the yeasted variety: PB&J, Rosemary Brown Sugar, Cookie Dough, Chocolate Brownie, and Passionfruit (the last being my absolute favorite!).Cannot wait to visit Salt Lake again JUST for more of these mouth-watering vegan donuts.
Ive heard good things about this place. Yesterday was my first day in. I bought a dozen donuts (40$), and they were all super doughy. Pretty disappointed all around.
I ordered the s’mores, lemon glazed, and chocolate sprinkle donuts here and they were all great. Definitely go with the s’mores, it was a perfect consistency. I got here late in the afternoon and unfortunately all the stuffed donuts were sold out - get here early! I wished I lived in the area because I would definitely be back here.
Delicious, Fun, and a cool vibe. Lots of vegan options. The doughnuts taste fresh and they are the perfect size. What I like about these doughnuts is that it allows me to enjoy and not feel weighed down afterward. The doughnuts are sweet but also very light and airy. They even have little treats for dogs. Its a little small inside so it can get crowded during busy hours. The seats that are there are pretty comfortable to just relax and enjoy your morning. The staff is really friendly and seem to be super knowledgeable about their products.
These doughnuts are so good!! My favorite so far is the passion fruit.
Was not impressed! $4 a donut and made my stomach hurt the rest of the day.Got an apple fritter it was just a glazed donut with a few apple chunks on it.
Great little doughnut shop with some interesting flavours. The maple bacon was pretty good, but the passion fruit yeast doughnut brought me an amazing amount of joy, wished I had gotten the large one, not just the small. The shop was gorgeous inside, kicking myself for not trying some of their tea selection.
They sell out so fast. Could probably double the amount they make and still be sold out within 4 hours of opening. Maybe sooner. If youre not there within 2, maybe if your lucky 3 hours of opening. Theyll most likely be sold out.
Awesome company, awesome service, a great asset to the community with their activism. Doughnuts are great, and so are the people. But ordering from the website can be really cumbersome. Plan extra time if you have to order online. Sometimes I even have to use different cards because it doesnt like my billing address, so be prepared.
Picked up a huge order for my sisters wedding. They were so friendly and even helped me to my car.
The doughuts are amazing. 😍
This has been the only doughnut place in the valley that have or will do special colored frosting! Besides being super yummy they are always a big hit!I learned this time that I need to be specific with my requests though. I thought the bright yellow frosting would be purple & I was hoping the lemon tart would be a deeper yellow.Im not disapointed though, the doughnuts were a huge hit at the birthday party I got them for♡The staff is always so sweet & the last I went they were actively making sure their location was clean!I highly recommend stopping by!
A VEGAN donut shop - HEAVEN! Since we have family members with food allergies, finding vegan treats is hard. Finding treats that taste good is even harder. This place totally hit the mark! The donuts were outstanding and the shop is housed in a quaint little storefront. Great stop for a quick snack.
Our first time here today (8-22). My husband and kids and I all had the blueberry frosting and lavender donuts. They were so good! My kids loved them too. I loved the texture. Yes, the prices are going to be more expensive than your traditional donut shop because you are getting donuts with better ingredients and quality. But I didnt feel the prices were outrageous. lll be going again in the future!
Lovely staff, delicious (!) doughnuts. I have no idea how they make these doughnuts, but if I didnt know these were vegan I wouldve thought they were regular doughnuts. Absolutely delicious, even for me who usually isnt a fan of sugary doughnuts. Their cold brew is also worth a shot, and if you get a tea, maybe try some of their bee-free vegan honey!
Ok so I’ve only been able to get donuts here once they sell out so fast and now you have to make your order on line which doesn’t really work because you make you selections then go to check out and they tell you one of your selections isn’t available..... but not which one and so then you have to go back and try figuring it out.The donuts are you know ok.... but I’ve had better vegan donuts. Just not here in Utah.
Great donuts! They have classic good ones like maple bars and some really interesting ones. Rose flavor was delicious! Not from salt lake but had been wanting to try this place and we called and they stayed open ten minutes after close so we could get there in time and they were super friendly and generous. Will be back whenever I visit salt lake again.
A business with no rules. Me and my girlfriend have been attempting to purchase donuts for TWO MONTHS and whether its going there in person, ordering online, viewing a menu through an instagram story there seems to be no working perception of how to provide something people would want (or in our case want to TRY) without some sort of astronomical effort, perfect timing, and master heist like luck to get what is, essentially, a donut.Making donuts that sell out at 7am, a sign on the front of the store to say go away, the website that doesnt display the actual contents of whats in stock, menus being posted on instagram, I dont know how to say this but it just all seems unprofessional and at this point I hope someone does this better and puts this place out of business. My girlfriend is vegan and just wants a vegan donut, comon.
Should warn potential customers on front door that they’re vegan!! Very pricey too, for not great tasting donuts. Not for everyone!
Me and my boyfriend have tried to buy donuts for two months. We’ve personally gone to the store, tried to order online through their website (which is useless which we did not know), and they run out very quickly and have no inventory to sell all day. I wrote on their instagram and they told me that they only accept orders by DM on Instagram, and that the menu was in their stories ... I write to order and they do not respond. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS BUSINESS IS OPEN! I wish there was another place for vegan donuts and if there is, please someone who recommends me !!!
We came here few times before the pandemic, so far so good, even though this was my first time trying out vegan donuts. I forgot the name that we liked best, I only remember its the tiny one. Anyway, you need to come early to get the other flavours, because theyre gone fast. Pleasant service, no complaints so far.
They require masks so wont get my business...
These donuts are definitely in a category all their own. The Categoory known as the best! !!Ho#&*@IT !!!!
Was interested in trying some vegan doughnuts but they make it impossible. Some people run their business terrible and these people are one of them. I think the hype on vegan is done so is this place.
Popped in for a quick snack before I headed back to the airport and was pleasantly impressed by decor and set up. What a quaint spot! The display and selection was magnificent and the donut I bought was delicious. There is a more than adequate selection of beverages to choose from. If Im ever back in SLC and am in the mood for donuts, this is the place Ill be.
I love and support this place with all my heart
The donuts were yummy. I preordered a bakers dozen for my coworkers the other day. I was happy except I specifically asked for two powered sugar raspberry filled and they gave me cinnamon sugar coated ones. If they werent the only donuts I liked, I wouldnt have cared as much.Ill be moving so hopefully I can finally get one next time!
These are not donuts. Dry cakes, more like. Partner and I were so excited to wake up to donuts in SLC and were utterly disappointed. And it came out to $7 for two of these cakes.Best part: the Gluten Free one is slightly bigger than a newborn’s palm
Love Love it!! Please make apple fritters available every day.💕💋💔😭
Great donuts and excellent service
Amazing donut flavors and everything is vegan :) :)
Great vegan donuts!
I wish there were more places like this around town. There was fast and courteous service. The bill was good for how much you get.
They really need to fix their online ordering. I ordered almost a dozen donuts this morning and they called me 3 hours later telling me they lost my order and will be giving me a refund. So waking up early to place my order before they all sold out was for nothing. I really love you guys but I don’t think I can recommend you anymore or continue coming here.
Best doughnut I have had, and extremely friendly staff!
Donuts are tasty. I’m not the most money conscious consumer and even I thought their price per dozen donuts was a bit out of touch.State street deli is less than $20. While not as creative they are every bit as good.Big O is a special occasion donut and worth trying at least once. They’ve done a really nice job and reminds me of the Ruby Snap of donuts.
I love vegan places that I can share with my non-vegan friends that I know they’ll enjoy! This is definitely one of those places. I love coming here too for the creative flavors. My go-to choice (if they haven’t run out) is the rose one! I would highly recommend stopping here if you enjoy getting unique treats you can’t find anywhere else!
Ive never been a vegan, but God bless vegans when I had a daughter who was highly allergic to milk and eggs. Big O Donuts doesnt use any animal byproducts, thus no milk or egg in the ingredients. The donuts are awesome! Wide assortment, colorful (you know kids), and no difference in taste from any other standard donuts place. I drive 45 min almost every weekend to get a dozen or more - its in high demand in my household.
This place is heaven. I’m overjoyed that they exist 🍩🍩🍩
Donuts were good, especially the Passion Fruit one! But we had to wait for our drip coffees in the rain for about 15 minutes even though we had ordered ahead online
Delicious donuts! Extremely friendly staff. Great small local business. Made fresh daily so plan ahead and get there early before they sell out. Will definitely go back! Anyone that complains about the price is probably mad they’re not $1 like the gas station. Not comparable.
Very dry and no flavor. I honestly don’t understand why this place has great reviews. The donuts LOOK good though 😂
Delicious, vegan donuts! I am not a vegan, but I was very impressed at how delicious my donut was. The young lady who works there is very friendly.
Absolutely incredible!!!!! I’m kind of a snob when it comes to vegan anything because I never think it tastes good and desserts are my everything 😂 but after trying these doughnuts, i’ll never have anything but!!!! My husband and I tried: Pumpkin Pie (my favorite), PB&J, Lemon Tart and Chocolate Peanut Butter ❤️
Possibly the best doughnuts Ive ever had. Super awesome, and allergen conscious. Would go out of my way to get doughnuts if I was passing through the area (i.e. if I was driving from CO to WA I would make a point of going through Salt Lake to get these doughnuts).
Hands down the YUMMIEST donuts i’ve ever had! such a great girl working too! she made me an amazing london fog.
Really enjoyed the churro donut!!
A fantastic dairy free donut!
The flavor combinations are wonderful, the service is helpful and friendly, the environment is quite cozy and the art inside is beautiful. The prices are on the high end and 100% worth it! Big O is hands down one of my favorite places for a tasty treat ♥️
I like a good doughnut thought I dont buy them all that often. However, when I do buy then I want them to be great. First, Big O perfectly executes the classics, in addition that have all the fun inventive modern doughnuts to be expected these days. If I have one complaint it would be that I like a little less glaze but thats my own preference. I find the fact that the shop is Vegan inconsequential, theyre just good doughnuts.
Love this place.
Ive been super excited to go to this place for quite some time now. After a morning on the mountain I drove down to grab a delicious donut.I was pretty bummed that when I arrived in the early afternoon the door was locked with a sign that said sold out. With limited hours as is, it was pretty upsetting that when I was able to make it during business hours they didnt have any treats
Delicious donuts and good coffee. What else do you need? Cake donuts are amazing and the raised donuts are not too shabby. However, moving from Brooklyn recently, Dun-well Donuts is a tough act to follow and means Big O misses out on a fifth star. The texture of the raised donuts doesnt have enough of that chewy texture I love so dearly. That being said, so glad to have a vegan donut shop in my new city!
I see people complaining about price. People, these are craft vegan donuts, not some chain store donuts. Too many people want everything cheap, fast, and now, and only care about what’s in it for them. It makes me laugh, and feel sorry for their miserable lives.Big O has fantastic donuts! Great selection and delicious VEGAN (plant based) donuts. It’s true, if you’re looking for cholesterol filled poison, go elsewhere. But after being vegan for over 30 years, this place is a welcome addition to the Salt Lake valley, and everyone I know gladly supports them and their amazing donuts! So, thanks for making them available to everyone!
Amazing tastes just like a “normal” doughnut!! I’ve had many vegan doughnuts and you can always tell it’s vegan and not as good, but The Big O Doughnuts are so delicious you can’t even tell it’s plant based!
Love the doughnuts here. I used to come here every monday. Nice staff. Would definitely recommend for everyone, even non vegans.
Vegan donuts that don’t “taste vegan.” Yummy flavors (churro and glaze are my faves), fast service (order ahead online!), and a company that cares about the community. What more could you ask for?
Amazing doughnuts and service! We cant wait to go again.
Had the strawberry and a passion fruit doughnut most of the selections were sold out but the ones I had were very tasty!
Best donuts in Utah, by far! The owners are very kind and go out of their way to make you feel appreciated. Even if they were jerks.... their donuts, seriously would be worth it. SO good!
Soooo good! I always have a wonderful experience here. All the donuts taste true to their flavors. Delicious and fresh.
We love Big O Donuts. They are kind enough to hold the illusive jelly filled donuts for us to pick up (when we call) before they sell out. I love their loyalty points. The donuts are fresh and tasty. The pricing is moderate but worth it because our kids can have them even with their food allergies (nuts, dairy, etc) We come on average 2-3 times a month.
We go every weekend. Always hard to choose which donuts to get. The options are unique and delicious. I usually opt for the cake donut with sprinkles. Lovely interior, too; lots of light and great artwork. Note: its a vegan shop.
It was so fresh. It has a cool interior.
Bought a dozen for my office and most people don’t even notice they are vegan that is how great they are! I prefer the mini donuts, they are the perfect size. Churro glaze is hands down my favorite. This is my pit stop when I want to make sure everyone can enjoy the snacks in the office.
Unprofessional higher staff. Fires employees over personal reasons and gossip. Toxic work environment and incompetent owners. Say what you will about their doughnuts, the people are not people you want to give your money to. Nepotism supersedes quality of work in this restaurant.
Love the big o! This is my works favorite birthday donut place! (Even for the non-vegans!) They have so many flavors, and everything is so delicately decorated! These donuts are amazing! We love to get the mini donuts because they are even cuter!
My family gets donuts every Saturday. Im not vegan and these are my favorite donuts in town. Im a huge fan of the chocolate glazed. They have coloring books and pencils for our two year old, and its such a brightly lit space. Fresh squeezed orange juice is delicious and they serve Blue Copper coffee.
Best doughnuts... ever!
Best vegan donuts out there. Staff is friendly and nice and very nice clean environment. Will highly recommend!
The donuts here are bomb but I’m always disappointed because it seems like they always run out of the flavors I want by the time I get there.
Donuts tasted good but I still havent gotten over the sticker shock. Over $65.00 bucks for 26 donuts!! I was looking for gold leaf and didnt find any. They werent that special for the money I paid out for these.
So delicious. The very best flavors.
The Lemon Curd is AMAZING! I work in a bakery and still drive here to get donuts, these vegan donuts have an amazing texture, thick light fluffy donuts...I love the plain glazed and the lemon, so good!!
Great Doughnuts and service!
Sooo yummy. So many flavors and I dont have to worry about any of them containing animal products.
Dare you to find better tasting donuts in salt lake county - amazing and no one would know they’re vegan because they taste so good
Really delicious donuts! Ive been here a few times and gotten to sample a couple different flavors. My favorites are probably the original glazed donuts and the smores donuts. The donuts are fluffy and flavorful. The atmosphere is very hipster and eclectic. The hours they keep are a little odd, but thats worth it for the great donuts.
