This place is always packed with stuff. Its quite impossible to navigate around the tiny store most times and the people that work there don’t even bother to move and give access to the customers. They have fresh vegetables only on Saturday and rest of the week they put rotten ones out- horrible. I guess SanAntonio should have a better Indian market.
I love this place. Indian and Pakistani groceries abound, from flours and spice, dal and produce, pickles and chutneys! What is not to love. There are also a variety of frozen, prepared meals and breads for those times when meal preparation is too time consuming. You can find cookware and home decor as well. Please check out the store if youre in the neighborhood.
Wonderful staff, small but adequately stacked Indian grocery items
Vegetables are fresh and good. Roti and chapathi are good here. Staff are friendly to help you find the products. Space is small to house so many things in it.
If anyone is from Maharashtra, this shop has some brands that are rarely available elsewhere in San Antonio. We travel 3 hours to come to this shop for our Indian grocery as we don’t have any Indian store where we live. They also have fresh vegetables and a good collection of Indian kitchen utensils. The owner is extremely friendly and always helps us to load our car. They also have membership cards through which we earned decent amount of points. They deserve all the 5 stars 👍
Talk to bhabhiji and you will be set happy.Anything and everything a indian family want, you will find it.Idols, pooja stuff, heena, groceries, namkeen, sweets, veggies, everything.
Great Indian grocery store located in the heart of the medical center on Fredericksburg Road between Wurzbach Road and Medical Drive near to India Palace Restaurant. You get turmeric and all Indian spices along with Indian sweets and savory items including frozen samosa that you can put it in the oven for 15 to 20 minutes and enjoy with your tea or coffee. Fresh veggies like Karela, Louki, Bhindi, Baingan, Mooli, green chili, bell peppers, methi and spinach (Palak) leaves are available. There is also puja items and light jewelry items available. Yogurt, Lassi and milk are also available. Refill water where one gallon is refill for 30 cents. Check it out
Nice place to go shopping. Nice people, excellent customer service
One of the best place to find all Indian spices, vegetables and Indian groceries.. And they have good timing as well 10 am to 10pm
Amazing. It just feel like youre in India. Thats wonderful
Has a variety of products and very well stocked.
Great place to get Indian grocery. Awesome people.
Its good for Indian vegetables and spices
They never fail me. Their food is to die for. Always open and always friendly 😃
Management should consider replacing one of their employee sorry to say specifically the dark one she is so rude always forget to give receipt or sometime charge extra on card totally unfit as a cashier she is only eligible for housekeeping or stocking and rest of the employees just need some training they should learn from their bosses look how kind & welcoming he is & very friendly aunty always smile on her face.
Beware...!!!When we got home with the groceries, I noticed that the gathiya that was supposed to be Buy 2 Get 1 Free was charged 3.99 @ 1.99 ending in $7.94... trust me this is the 3rd time I have noticed incorrect price keyed in by their employees...if this can happen with me 3 times, how many instances have happened with other customers who don’t care to look at their receipts. The last 2 instances they have actually argued with me saying that the keyed in price is correct, while the marked price on their shelf for that product is incorrect...!Not only that, but the gathiya we got is 1 year old on manufacture date and the opened package stinks of stale oil...
I was really looking forward to shopping at this place. However, as soon as I walked in I had to just turn around and leave. I saw at least TWO different employees not wearing masks, and one of them was coughing without covering his mouth while stocking merchandise. This is absolutely unacceptable. I’m not sure if these people understand we are in a global pandemic and there is a mask mandate in this state. It was also pretty trashed with merchandise just on the floor all over the store. I will certainly never return to this extremely unsanitary and dangerous place. Like someone else mentioned, they are selling products with no expiration date or even expired products and the owners seems to not care at all. They need a visit from the health department soon.
Price is little high.products are good.
Maybe my bad luck buy I bought some milk expiration date was 20 of August got home open it and it was bad.....didnt go and changed or nothing waste of time.
Fresh groceries, reasonably priced!
Would give it 3.5 star rating. They are definitely not a one stop shop for all Indian/Nepali grocery but you can get 60% - 70% of what you may be looking for.
Wonderful selection of exotic spices and vegetablesThe real problem is that posted prices may not reflect actual prices and I need to learn to speak the language
Good Indian produce. But I am wondering how they can sell packed items without expiration date. I was looking at packaged Sher-E-Punjab whole wheat rotis on their shelves and it has neither best by date nor any expiration date. When asked, their manager/owner just checked and he said no expiration date on them and simply put the package back on the shelves rather than identifying the problem and fixing it. If they can read this posting, really appreciate if they take it seriously and act on it. I want to buy it but hesitant. They are continuing to sell this product without any expiration date.
Lots of items to choose from. They have fresh veggies 🌍
Huge variety! almost anything you could think of that you might want fresh or frozen boxed or bagged could be found here. They even have pre-cut jackfruit for sale.
They have a lot to offer.
Great, authentic Indian grocery store. They have simple easy to cook rice packets, soups, sauces, etc. They have the best produce section Ive ever seen too. I highly recommend.
Very helpful customer service!
Nice store where you get most of indian stuff.. I am a regular customer. Their service is also great. And one day I accidentally dropped my wallet in the store and the person from the store who got it handed it over to me as soon as he found it. That was a lovely gesture and level of honesty.Thank you sir..
Have been coming here over a decade.. bought a bunch of DVDs from the previous owners. Theyve got a good selection of items for the size of the store. Got some meswak toothpaste & ENO (life saver)... Amongst other items of necessity. The line is never too long, the employees are friendly.
I really like the aunt there. Shes so good and store has all the basic necessities
Crowded, but fairly priced. My goto for bulk spices.
I was able to find what I needed and the workers were very helpful.
There is one gentleman named Dilip, he is so nice and when I need help, he always helps me to find the products. Great place to buy Indian products. 👍👍
My go to place for Indian grocery. Vegetables are really fresh when you visit thus place in Tuesday and Friday. The staff here is very friendly and was helping me every-time I needed some help.
Fantastic selection of organic beans and vegetables. Very friendly grocery store 😇.
They have best prices for grains and seasoning.
Good. Indian grocery. Fair pricing
The supermarket is amazing and cool. The goods are arranged very well making it look very welcoming. I highly recommend this place.
Poor arrangementsCrowdedGood availability
Fresh veggies every Tuesday and Friday, a wide variety of stuff from different states, membership discounts, and friendly staff!
Good variety of Indian groceries items available here. Helpful staff.
Good prices and selection of groceries. Great customer service.
Most of the time the coconuts we bought from this store are rotten. If i buy two coconut atleast one will be rotten. We open the coconut immediately after bring home. Also the quantity of the Bru coffee power is lesser than the usual quantity and the silver cap in the bottle is very loose and not tightly sealed.
My goto place, good price and friendly staff, this store never disappointed me.
We get almost all Indian grocery items in this store. Few items are little overpriced compared to other Indian grocery stores in the city. Owner is very kind and courteous and she treats the customers very respectfully. The way she treats makes you feel as if you are in India.
Good Indian store in vicinity
Exotic spices, jaggery and countless rice varieties; Indo Asia at its finest! They have been selling Himalayan salt since before the craze and popularity we see now. Staff is friendly and helpful. The owner is humble and fair and takes pride in what he does. Much respect. Also the best selection of incense in all of San Antonio. Check it out if you feel hip...
Good selection of Indian groceries. The shop is small but it has everything you need. Staff is nice and you will find almost anything you can want.Love this place.
We love the store and the owner. Have to move often due to military but finding a desi store with smiling faces, and everything we need makes it totally worth it. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
We found everything we needed (and more!) The staff was amazing and helped us take advantage of a sale we had not seen. So excited to have found Himalayan Bazar!
The store is very nice and clean. They have lots of products in the store and also the staff was very helpful and courteous. Some of the items in the store were a little bit on the expensive side, I hope they can bring the prices down a bit. Overall very nicely maintained store.
They have an incredible selection of great food. They have all essentials things used in the Indian kitchenThey have a wide variety of vegetables and are fresh, the shop is small but it has everything you need.
I love Himalayan Bazar. They have the best prices for spices and rice. If you want to cook great Indian food, start here. If you just want to pick up some frozen stuff, stop here. Need some cooking supplies like pots, utensils and serving dishes? Stop here. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
Nice place for Indian grocery. You will get almost every Indian product over here. Only drawback if the amount is less than $5, either you have to pay in cash or it will be charged extra. The cashier and owner are very courteous.
Good
One of the best owner and employee I’ve seen In a while. Very friendly people. Maintained the store really clean and neat.
Great place to find hard to find food items!
This establishment has the best selection of products and produce to recreate any dish from either India or Pakistan. Every visit reminds me of my stay in India.
Do u have parampara biryani masala?
Over charged
Small shop with smallish selection. Great to grab a bag of rice or something basic. Interesting selection of clothing and household goods section.
Great place to stop for a snack, drink, or local homemade item. Prices can be just a tad high on certain items but the convenience makes up for it.
All Desi items available. Well stock, clean, well lit & excellent prices on item. Items on sale also available.
I love this place. One of my favorite foods is Indian food! So I love to go in here and buy things to make at home! I feel like Im in another world!
Good collection of indian food..
This is a good store for Indian grocery and goods. You can find almost everything you would need except meats. In a city with few options this is the best pick among the rest.
Great place for indian veggies.
Love this store! Lots of fun, wonderful finds. Great for gift shopping or picking up necessities.
Great for Vegetables and Indian groceries
Best in town; they do have the essentials, but you may not get everything. Fresh vegetables come in Tuesday and Friday, and those will be the only days you will be able to get the veggies you want. Other days the stock is scant for vegetables and fruits.
We always go for grocery shopping every weekend. The shop owner is aunty and she is very sweet and makes us feel that we are in India. We mostly get all the vegetables and spices from this store. During festival they get specials and also items which are specific to those festivals.
Very clean customer friendly has a lot to offer. Great store.
Nice place. Will get fresh Indian vegetables groceries.
Wonderful variety of foods and other imports. Beautiful clothes, reasonably priced groceries, and fruits and veggies not found anywhere else!
Very nice 👌
A very humble owner and the employees are very kind and ready to help when needed. Best place to shop Asian and Indian groceries.
Love the fresh produce Tuesdays & Fridays. Only place to get fresh turmeric and curry leaves. Also great Indian dresses and all natural soaps. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
Lack of fresh vegetables. But you can find almost all Indian groceries and essential kitchenware. Great place.
Variety of Indian food and vegetables, friendly staff, convenient location, good customer service.
All necessary south asian groceries at good prices
Neat place but no much options on the snacks
The best place to get all Indian grocery items. They also sell a lot of utensils and personal care products from India. The fruits and veggies are fresh and well stocked.
This stuff needs to be dated properly. Half of this is probably expired.
Good place to get indian grocery. Sometimes they run out of fresh vegetables and dont restock until next day
The Place is good for Indian Groceries. The Aunty (owner )is very sweet and well behaved. However, the employees are horribly rude. They are the most unprofessional staffs I have ever seen anywhere in the USA. They are employed here without any training I guess. They continuously chatter, laugh, talk among themselves terribly loudly and make the shop a chaotic place. If you ask help with anything and ask them in English, they are most likely not to understand you (except one girl)( That is ok. Incapability to understand a language is not a big deal but the attitude /rudeness after that is). The other day I had a question and asked one of the employees in English. She couldnt understand it, gave me an impolite look and asked other employees what that word means. One other girl understood and said that service was not available in their store. However, the aunty quickly realized that was not true and said the service is of-course available with her and that said she could help me. Now, realizing their mistakes and incapability to understand one of the simplest English words, the girls in the counter started making fun of me and of the word with the other girls infront of me itself. Also, a few days back, a man asked for a packet of biscuits which was 50 cents. He gave 1 dollar to the girl and asked 50 cents back. The girl quickly replied- You take the packet that is one dollar. OMG ! That is rude and unprofessional. They often misplace items and if asked never give a damn about it afterwards. I was very offended by the employees that day and I will not go to Himalaya Bazar anymore.
Good
Good place
I recently moved in the Axio apartments nearby to be with my indian girlfriend (soon to be fiancé) and decided to surprise her with some Indian cuisine. I am not too familiar with the area so I did what any other person would do and look online for nearby places. I thought this place would be good since it had a decent review and it was right across the street but boy was I wrong!I do not know how to cook indian food because usually Parineeti (my gf) likes to make some vegetarian dishes and I am no expert chef like she is. So naturally I go for some treats, produce and frozen foods and quickly head home to “cook” since she gets home only an hour after I do. To my unfortunate surprise I realized that one of the items I purchased was OVER 2 WEEKS EXPIRED!! It was too late to go back and now I spent my hard earned money on expired products.Luckily, I ordered uber eats and was able to surprise her with that instead (Although it was delivered AFTER SHE GOT HOME, SO MUCH FOR THE SURPRISE PART). What was suppose to be a romantic surprise home cooked indian feast turned out to be ruined!! I will not be coming back and urge all of you reading this to ALWAYS CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE!!!! especially if you do decide to shop here.Parineeti and I had a pretty good laugh about it and she told me that their prices are pretty high compared to other stores that she goes to, GO FIGURE!!! 1/5 stars because I can’t rate 0 and if it wasn’t for them I wouldnt have found Dahlia Thai Cuisine nearby, we can’t stop going there now!!!
Best Indian grocery in town.. they have a wide variety of items north indian, south indian etc. Vegetables come in on Tuesdays and Fridays and the sell out really fast. So if you want to buy fresh vegetables go to the store in one of these days
Its amazing how many products they have here. Not only delicious groceries but also bazaar stuff. Their clothes and ayurvedic (not chemical) products are healthy and accessible.
I bought a case of mango frooti here on the 19th. I realized a few days after that it was 3 months expired. I went the following weekend to return the case of frooti, and was met with rude cashiers and manager. They accused me of lying and trying to scam them because I didn’t have the receipt. I showed them my bank statement that shows the charge, and I told them to call the employee that worked there that Sold it to me. I told them to check the cameras too and they said they wouldn’t because you can’t see the expiration date on it. They went as far as to say, I could have bought it from another Indian store and came back here to return it in the 1 week span of from when I bought it from this store and returning it. I’ve been coming here for over a year and they see me there all the time. I’ve never had any issues and then they gave me so much trouble and accused me over a $7.99 case of frooti. The manager tried to give me only the frootis I didn’t drink from the new frooti case. When they finally realized they’re beat, they still can’t admit they’re wrong. To treat someone like this when they made a mistake that could have really caused someone to have serious health issues. Worst Indian store I’ve ever been too. I will be calling the city and the health inspector, to report this issue as well. Stay away from here, or at least check all of your products. Chances are, they are selling you expired things. On a lot of their sweets in the fridge, there is NO expiration date at all. Against health code violations. Save your money, and go somewhere else.
A little bit of everything and fun place to look around.
Good for indian style market..be it vegetables or other fast foods. But it is more leaned towards South Indian stuffs. But good to have this near by.
They have alot of nice things.
Real good objects and nice customer service
