Really kind & knowledgeable staff! I am very new to crochet, and I had questions regarding any yarn substitute recommendations and they helped me right away. Today was Local Yarn Day so they had a small raffle and free prizes. Their website is updated with any events or material updates. Staff is always friendly!!!! They sell amigurumi yarns, and a wide variety of known brands along with Texas hand dyed yarns as well!

Its always a treat to visit Yarnivore! Though my reason for going today was simply to get some more blocking pins, I have to walk the aisles and squeeze some skeins. They have some magnificent wooden yarn bowls crafted from wooden bowls and canisters the craftsman picked up in thrift shops and elsewhere. Two of the bowls have their own pedestals that serve other functions. What a surprise to see how discarded items have been given new life through multifunctional purpose. Worth a trip!

I have always enjoyed going to the store to look for yarn that I cannot find anywhere else. There used to be a wonderful young lady working at Yarnivore that was always very helpful and would ask if I needed any help. She graduated from college and went off to start her career some time ago and I had not been back to the store until recently. I stopped by the shop on 12/24/2019 to pick up a gift. There were 3 women working in the store. One older woman with long gray hair and glasses was helping a customer. The two other women were chatting with each other. One of the women had very short hair with faded unnatural hair color and was wearing a vest. She was complaining about having to arrange the yarn and about being with her family that evening. As a 20 year veteran of the customer service industry I understand how unpleasant it can be to work on Christmas Eve when all you want to do is go home. Regardless of how you feel you should never allow customers to hear you complaining about doing your job or your personal life, it is unprofessional and tacky.I continued to shop for about 30 minutes, not once did any of the women ask me if I needed help. However when a couple from New Hampshire walked in the store after me the women were very prompt to greet them and offer assistance. When I finally checked out the woman with the short hair was at the register with another young woman, I believe she had a hat on. The one with the hat was eating and then proceeded to grab my yarn with her dirty hands. I let it go because I can wash it. I asked the woman with the short hair to wind my yarn because I wanted to put a cake in the yarn bowl that I purchased so that it would fit neatly in the bowl. She refused to do what I asked her to do because it was a skein. I was angry that she would refuse a simple customer request, but I didnt feel like arguing so I let it go. A better way to handle the request would have been to explain that typically skeins like the one I purchased are used as is BUT the decision should have ultimately been up to me to decide whether or not I wanted a cake. With the exception of the woman with long hair and glasses, these women were very unprofessional. I suggest that if these women do not want to work on Christmas Eve or dont want to deal with the public (or maybe certain members of the public) that they find another profession. One in which they do not have to interact with people.

Amazing yarn selection and super friendly! I honestly felt like I was talking to my close friends when I talked to the staff! Good prices too for all the rare yarns in stock! Can I also mention the free snacks and water? They LITERALLY FEED YOUR NEED. (I think one snack had peanut butter though) The little gathering area with all the chairs is really cozy and comfortable :) Personally, I think that anyone who rated Yarnivore 1 star doesnt know good quality yarn and service and should stay at Hobby Lobby where they belong. Dont take it personally ;)

Personally, Im not a yarn gal. So I wandered through the store with a sense of mild interest and politely nodded as my fiance lost her mind and examined every single skein in giddy excitement and told me how great everything was.Wool yarn, synthetic yarn, silk, alpaca, camel, rayon, Merino, cotton. Different blends. A few locally dyed yarns. Bags of colorful roving in the back. They had drop spindles, umbrella swifts, ball winders, they even had a spinning wheel for sale.Knitting, crochet, and felting tools. Broach pins and buttons. They had cool yarn bags with fun logos. And I was very impressed by the loom they had set up for display and found they sold tools for weaving as well. When we came in they had a class going on and if we were locals we would have explored that more, but its cool that they offer that. The lady behind the counter were very friendly and I felt she enjoys working where she does. She made sure we had help when we needed it and left feeling great. She also wound our purchased yarn skein for us, which was fun to watch and made me appreciate the initial investment of a ball winder and swift.Overall its a really great shop and if youre in need of quality yarn or supplies, this is the place to go.

I love the store, however I had a bad experience one weekend. Two guys were manning the store. One was knitting on the couch. I had a list of the yarns I needed for a project. The other guy said he had all of the yarns I needed but would not sell to me. He asked about my project and I showed him my book. He said he would not sell me the yarn because the project was not worth the $40 in yarn. I do not feel it is his place to judge what I want to make and how much I want to spend. He refused to sell me the yarn! I should be able to spend what I want on whatever I want to buy in the store! I wonder what the owner would think of that. I should have reported him.

They also sell some roving for hand spinners, wool wash, books and accessories for knitting, crochet etc.Bright, clean and well organized store with a sitting area for our patient husbands.

This place is fantastic. Im only in town for a short while but I almost wish I was staying so I could keep going here for my yarn craft. The staff was knowledgable, and great to talk to. And unlike big shops they save the information from your purchases so you can go back and order more even if you loose the info on your yarn. I especially loved the selection of locally dyed yarn. The price was a little higher but thats because the quality was so much nicer.Seriously if youre into yarn craft and want to support a great local shop, head to yarnivore.

The yarn is organized to make it so easy to shop when you already have a project in mind and need to find a specific weight or type of yarn, but the displays and shop samples offer tons of inspiration if you are just browsing. I was in town with my husband who was attending an AD conference. I am in a place where many knitters are at this time of the year. Finishing my last Christmas gift and I dropped a stitch. 😮 I took UBER there and had met Wendy on the phone. She picked up my stitch and I sat there for several hours knitting. 🧶 I shopped the beautiful yarns, accessories, books, novelty, Texas yarn dyed, and so much more. What a treat! I’m reading Wendy’s newsletter now and they also gave me my birthday discount first time in the store!!!!😍 Thank you for hosting me for the afternoon. It was a highlight for my trip...

Love this shop, everyone is so kind, knowledgeable and helpful. This is a SPECIALITY yarn shop. Yes you can find basic acrylic yarn like you will find at hobby lobby or Michaels... But the point is, that they carry HUNDREDS of brands that your regular craft store cant carry. If you want a cashmere, a merino wool, a nylon blend, and in different weights and color schemes this is your shop. Natural fibers are WONDERFUL, and if youre making a fine garment, you ll likely want a fine yarn.Do I buy all my yarn here? No.. But I do buy all my NICE yarn here. And they are priced well. Ive made some beautiful stuff from yarn purchased here that NEVER would have looked the same if I used cheap acrylic yarn. You can sit, relax, feel everything, they offer classes and private lessons at very reasonable cost, and will even whine your yarn for you on their swift. And beyond that, who doesnt want to support local business?!

I went to Yarnivore today for help fixing dropped stitches on a knitting project. Moses very quickly fixed my problem (I wasnt in the frame of mind to be shown how to do it today). I stayed around afterwards and knitted on my project with several other ladies there and enjoyed myself greatly. Everyone is so helpful and the atmosphere is light-hearted and filled with laughter. There are so many classes offered here such as tatting, knitting, crocheting, tunisian crochet, weaving and much more. They host knit night and there are many opportunities to just come and work your project in a great environment. There are also so many different yarns to choose from as well as different crochet hooks and knitting needles. You have to experience it for yourself! I love this place.
