After a run of bad luck with my car I was forced to search for a new one, but after weeks of turning up poorly for the car I had my heart set on I was just about to give up, made harder by the fact I couldnt find it in my home state. Then I saw Gillman Honda had just the right one, a 2011 Mazda Rx8 in my price range with low enough miles. I worked closely with Megan DeSelms and Victor Vargas, both of whom were extremely friendly, helpful, and punctual. They helped me get the Mazda at a reasonable price and when I showed up to take ownership were ready and waiting keys in hand. The car has been an absolute joy and my experience with Gillman Honda was exceptional!
I just finalized a car purchase from Seattle, WA for my family in Houston (still long distance). Due to the distance, it presented some things to resolve, and I wasnt all the way sure I was going to get it done from my end. Im so thankful Brian Garza ended up being our sales person. He hung in there with me all the way, until we were able to get the deal done. The finance person also worked really well with my bank, and made that part easy to do. Brian Garza and his team are absolutely amazing and Im so glad, I was able to do this deal with this awesome dealership!!!
I will say that I was skeptical at first, as I am with all dealerships, but we had unbelievably the greatest experience at a major dealership! I dread working with dealerships but this place was like no other. No gimmicks, no pressure, no hidden fees, everything discussed up front. We drove four hours (from San Antonio) because of how comfortable I felt in communicating with Ray Donez and Victor Vargas. We did everything by phone and email and spent less than an hour at the dealership, and that includes the time spent in the car going over all the features. By far the best pricing for the vehicle we purchased. Looked all around Texas and couldnt find a better deal, nor a better group of people to work with. They treated us like family from initial contact. I will definitely be looking for them again when ready to purchase my next vehicle.

The best part of this car dealership is the great customer service from Joe Alvarez. I have always hated car dealerships. Who doesnt have an experience with a sleazy car salesman? Well Joe Alvarez discredited that negative stereotype of car salesmen. He was professional and very courteous. He was in constant communication before I headed to the dealership....and after I bought my vehicle. I had explained to Joe that I am a single professional mother that would would have a hard time bringing back the vehicle to Edinburg. He said, dont worry about it. I got you! So what did he do? Called to specifically ask about a vehicle. They said yes, they had it on the lot And would get it ready. I drive over and nope they can’t find it and show me a different vehicle. I say nope this isn’t it, clearly higher priced Ans they say oh we must have sold the one you’re looking at some time back and just haven’t made updates on inventory. Then pretty much no other assistance. Not the best customer service.

Like many car dealerships you have to be prepared and know what you want. They are courteous and will try to help you and get hopefully what you are looking for. They will give you a fair market price on vehicles on the lot. Do your research it will help. I have purchased 2 Accords from them and have been very satisfied.
Just got a new car this year. We couldn’t have done it with out the help of Yolanda Aramburo she went above and beyond. She made it so easy we called her told her what we were looking for and wala!!! The experience was surprisingly awful from the perspective of the dealer, Alex. This place is not what it used to be. My extended family had bought several Hondas here in the past 2 decades, but the dealers and owner were people you could trust back then. Not anymore. Alex seemed to be frank and courteous at the beginning, when we first met for a test drive. That quickly changed. I am a cautious buyer, but Alex used some nasty techniques, like not agreeing to the final price we had previously arranged on the phone, as well as telling us a story (most likely made up...) about a couple from Canada who were going to buy the car if we didnt decide right away, when we were still hesitant about the purchase because of our surprise with the price increase that came out of nowhere. Worth mentioning is his lack of care and change in attitude towards us once he knew we were buying the car. He was much more careless and, for example, didn’t give us certain printed papers we requested nor did he give us the car in a clean/neat condition before we left, as he had promised it would be washed. Also, the car was used but fairly new, and we later found some scratches and defects in the car that we werent made aware of prior to the purchase. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because of the impeccable customer service we received from “Doc”, the guy in charge of showing you all the inside gadgets and functions of the Honda before you drive away with the car. He was the exception to a terrible experience. It was a pity that this dealership lost all our trust. We won’t recommend this place again. A month later, another relative bought her Honda at a different Honda dealership and was very happy with it. No tricks and lies, but sincere and real customer service.

I bought a Ciciv Type R in the beginning of May from Victor. Got the deal done over the phone. So I drove from San Antonio to San Benito to pick up the car. Left San Antonio at 8:00 am to pick up a U-haul trailer and drove 4.5 hours to San Benito. In the meantime, Victor called/texted a few times to make sure I was on my way to pick up the car. When I arrived, no finance manager was on site. I was there waiting and felt got ignored. Had to chase Victor a few times to push for it. After more than an hour, one finance manager finally showed up then he told me they could not accept a temporary check so I had to run to the bank to get a cashiers check. By the time the paperworks were done, Ive spent more than 4 hours there. Drove another 4.5 hours home. What a long day!In the end of May, one of my nephews wanted to get a Civic LX. Again, I asked Victor for the help. As last time, we got the deal done over the phone. This time we had 4 people go to San Benito to pick up the car. Ridiculously, they put us wait for 6+ hours in the show room. There were 2 finance managers on site but one took 3+ hours trying to sell products to a group of customers. Victor disappeared. I hardly saw him. We stood there like idiots. I had to ask around to push for getting paperworks done. Eventually this FM got what he wanted so we were helped at 7 pm. Another local family was buying buying 2 cars at the same time and they waited longer than us. How absurd it is.Before we left, I grabbed Victor and told him that we need gifts to compensate our time there. He was glad to offer us Honda caps and sunshades.The next day I texted Victor to ask for the gifts. Guess what? No reply, not at all. I waited for a week and asked him again and he pretended saying sorry he did not see my message. When I talked about gifts, he said he will give me caps the next time when my other nephew comes to buy another car from him. As for sunshades, he is not going to give me and gave me a lame excuse.Now you should know Victor only cares about customers before the deal is done. Once the deal is done, even though you are in show room. He becomes a ghost. There is none of his business any more. As for the dealership, they do not care about customers precious time. They just put you wait forever. 6 hours to them is nothing because you will still be buying cars from them.Avoid this dealership. Get your car somewhere else. Dont waste your valuable time here and listen to lies.
For 25 years, I purchased Hondas from the once amazing Kellogg Honda, that morphed into Gillman Honda. I continued to purchase from them, because of trustworthy and honorable salesmen. But, those men have retired, leaving behind pups that treated my family to bad, old-fashioned used car salesmanship, jacking the price after promising one price, and sending my family home with an unwashed pre-owned car. So sad. When I wrote to the Gillman person who owns this mess and the local general manager, no one responded. Go to Clark-Knapp Honda for a great deal. I did. Two months ago. A beautiful experience.
Finally got my plates after 2 months.Called a week before and I was told they still hadnt arrived.Called a couple of days ago and I asked to get a renewal of the temporary plates because it had expired a day before.i was told to show up at the dealership they should be ready with a new temporary plates,I was told however to show up on the main honda building. After showing up and waiting 30 minutes someone finally attended me and could not find my info.Then he called the Chevrolet building and was told to go there.The new plates were at the receptionist desk.not the temporary but the permanent ones.Obviously they dont care about customers once they close the deal.I forgot to mention,I was close to 45 minutes on Thursday attempting to talk to someone from the dealer,no luck,only machines answer their phones.
Took my niece to buy a vehicle, which she really loved when she test drove it. We were really happy and excited until we went to financing. Arnie Garcia told us that because of her credit score, which was close to 700, she only qualified for a 9% apr. HOWEVER, he said Honda financing could get her a 2.9% if she got the Gap plan. Without it she would have to pay the 9%. This is the first time I have ever heard this. GAP has always been optional but because she loved the car we signed. We get home and find that they added an extended warranty, which we said we didnt want, and other products to her contract which totaled almost 5,000. We went back the next day to get them to take them off and he said that if he did she would have to go back to the 9% APR. I read him the fine print that stated that all those products were optional and not required to obtain financing. He refused to cancel any of them. Honda, you need to watch who you hire to represent your company. Its people like this that make car buying a horrible experience. I will NOT be recommending this place for anyone interested in buying a vehicle. Their work ethics and trustworthiness are very questionable!!!

Had a great experience 4 years ago. Went 3 weeks ago bought another preowned. Theyve had it longer at the shop than I have. No masks. No caring salesman. No refund on this damn lemon. Will never recommend again.
I was text by a sales person regarding some trucks. The sales person offered to sell me 2016 dodge rebel for 28981. I ended up going in to test drive the vehicle. The sales manager messaged me before going that she would greet me. We setup a time and i ended up test driving the truck with one of the salesman. After the test drive, i asked again about the the price and he told me 28999. I told him id come the next day to pick it up. 5 hours later i get a text that theu can not honor the price they told me. Terrible on their end since they invited me in to test drive the truck at the set price. I also ended up losing out on another truck i was looking at. Smh .

I can’t really say I had a good experience at the Honda dealership. Yes, I did leave with a car, but it’s because I already knew what I wanted. I can’t really say our sales rep. was to blame, I just wish she was more aware of what was going on. Once I made her aware of the issues going on, I don’t really feel she made sure everything was going as promised. There were some issues with the car that no one was aware of until I took the vehicle home. They promised me Certain things and have yet to receive anything. I understand I’m not the only customer they have, but I’m still one of their customers that gave them a sale. My very first vehicle was a Honda and It’s a bumming that this has happened.

I was car shopping online for my husband and I was debating on 2021 LAND ROVER DISCOVERY and a 2021 HONDA PILOT ELITE AWD so I visit both places Land Rover first the sales rep 🤦♀️bad customer service the man didnt know what he was selling. I had done all my research on the vechile before going so when we made a walk around on the model my husband asked a questions about the vechile the man didnt know anything I had to tell my husband the specifications because the man didnt do any effort whats so ever on explaining the model. The other sad part was they dont support Veterans I asked about a discount on the model for veterans and he said they dont do veterans discount. My husband just gave me the look and said if they dont support Veterans we aint buying here. So we go and check out Honda the best decision we made. Customer Service awesome. We are very happy that we had the sales person that we got name Victor Vargas I recommend. He knows his stuff plus very friendly help us out on the model not only the specifications but the buying part to. We will buy from them again in the future God Willing. On June 1, we purchased a 2020 CRV LX. Our salesperson, Adolfo Garcia, was very professional, knowledgeable, kind, and patient. In fact, the entire staff was very accommodating and friendly, from the general manager, to the finance person. They all made the process a smooth and pleasant experience. We are very happy with the car, and would highly recommend Gillman Honda to anyone.
Horrible service starting with phoning in to make a simple appointment for service. Takes way to long to speak to a real person. Way to long to pull up your info and then when they get your info pulled there are interferes during your conversation. And no one is ever there during the weekend so you better not have a serious problem with their vehicle. AND dont wait for a call back if you leave a message. I asked if they disinfected the vehicles after they are done with the service and although they said YES there was no evidence that anything was disinfected. Our car is only eight month old and has only 4,000 miles and you would think they could have at.least run it through the wash with its first service but I guess not...This is our second new Honda in two years and we have had better service from other Honda dealerships. Not at all the standards Id expect from a Valley Business..🤘😷
This is the 2nd car I purchased at Gillman. The first one was at chevy back in 2015 and my current 2017 car was with Honda. My chevy experience was nice and smooth, as well as my Honda experience. A salesman you want to talk to is M. Alanis with Honda. Hes patient, he explains the car specs and knows his stuff. Hell help you with trying to find a car thats in your budget. Hes not annoying or pushy. If you go to him tell him Lauren sent you 🙋🏻 btw I love my Honda Civic 😍

Parts department: Tried to reach parts for Chevy and ended up on Honda (Probably my fault). They transferred me but never answered. Honda asked if they picked up. I said no. Honda hangs up on me. I call Harlingen location and wait 14 min to get help. I ask my question on part. They say they have it. I ask one more thing about part and they say i dont know, that is all system says. My first mistake is calling them for parts. I give three stars for answering, minus one for hanging up on me. Maybe sales has better service.
Any good review is false. Buyer beware. These people sell lemons with warrenty. Then Then do not honor warranty even if its an extended warranty. Buyer beware!!!

Tony Padilla was a great salesperson to work with, and as a first-time buyer it meant a lot to have someone so helpful and friendly throughout every step of the process. He was very thorough and I felt confident that he did everything he could to give me the best possible deal.
My cousin bought a used car from here and she bought the extended warranty. When something went wrong with the car she took it in and they refused to honor her extended warranty. Now a few months later her vehicle is still there with no work done to it and they want her to pay 500 dollars so she can get her vehicle back. It doesn’t make sense to have to pay for something that was never worked on. Buyer beware

Horrible cars and horrible customer service. I’d rather ride a bike through a snowstorm than get another car from here. Don’t bother buying the warranty because when something goes wrong your car will sit here for months and when you decide to get your vehicle back to solve the problem on your own they try to charge extra. Your better off buying a car off facebook instead this joke of a dealership. Don’t waste your time here.
The people were nice and helpful. Although, after not having a car for 6 months I went to Gillman to get a SUV. Within 2 weeks of buying the SUV it stopped working. I had to take it to boggus ford so they can fix it. Now I have no car again. It would be great if they would have disclosed this information that this SUV would need to be fixed.
At Gillman Honda San Benito, we were helped immensely by Daphne! She made our buying experience a great one! She was very personable, friendly and helpful during the whole process. She was also very knowledgeable about the vehicle we purchased (HR-V). Great service overall!
If you go to Gillman in San Benito ask for Alina. She showed me my dream car and I got to ride in it and showed me prices and she went all out with the explaining. Although, it wasnt in my budget, she told me not to worry that there were options. I dont know much about cars, but she was great in explaining. Overall, my experience with Mrs. Alina from start to bottom she had me hooked and excited and I will be coming back with her. Love love love the experience here at Gillman at San Benito. 100% on everything.
Rudy Perez was an awesome salesman. He was patient and not pushy. He listened to what I was looking for and made the effort to find the car that I wanted.We got the run around from a manager in regards to transferring my car to Gillman San Benito from San Antonio. We were told it would arrive early in the week, but did not arrive until Saturday. We were told it was on the truck ready to go, but in all actuality it was driven from its previous location. This information was not disclosed to us until we inquired when signing the odometer reading. Due to the way were treated by this manager, we were minutes away from heading to San Antonio or Houston to go get the car that I wanted. Rudy’s customer service and respectable demeanor are the only reasons that we stayed with Gillman in San Benito. As a repeat customer, you would think that everyone would appreciate your returned business.
Very reasonable prices. Great customer service. If you stop by, make sure and ask for Tony, he was very patient and answered all our questions. It was our first car purchase and he made sure we were getting the best deal and put us at ease.
I’m reading all the reviews and I feel like I kind of got screwed a bit. My parents have bought at least 6 Honda’s from this dealership, and when it came to buy mine they gave a big down payment, and still no deals or anything. My dad had to fight for three free oil changes. After 6 Honda’s and a down payment like that? Now I’m reading all these people got amazing deals and what not, I’m glad my parents found a dealership for them but i won’t be staying with Honda
I have to admit. We gave the gentleman a bit of a hard time. When we first were looking for a car. Only because we had gone to so many in McAllen, Pharr, Sanjuan and even Mission. No other dealership took time like Gillmans in San Benito. It is worth the time to drive for good customer service. We will definitely go back.

I have purchased many cars over the years with different experiences at each dealership. The experience at this dealership was by far the WORST. For starters we were passed from sales person to sales person, then when it was time to negotiate we were presented with a deal that did not represent the price of the vehicle shown online and included around 2 thousand dollars worth of extra charges for things I specified I did not want. After some negotiation a deal was made and I was satisfied with the final price and the monthly payment. Now one month later Gillman still has not paid off the vehicle I traded in, and I am receiving harassing collection calls and emails. I tried numerous times to contact someone in the finance department at Gillman and left numerous messages with no response from anyone. I finally had to take time off of work to go to the dealership to try and get answers, of which I got few. I was told I should make the payment on the vehicle I traded in if I didnt want it to effect my credit and that a payment had been sent for the vehicle I traded in but they made a mistake on the check so Chase sent it back to Gillman.This dealership definitely lacks customer service.
