The staff are friendly, kind and helpful. I needed to bring my dog in because it was hot and they not only welcomed him, but gave him a biscuit.

It was a great experience !!! Had alot of help from Maurice who, I believe, is the store manager and Luis I believe....my receipt says that was his name but not sure ...but besides the point ...great help from both of them !!! Sadly they were understaffed but they were definitely being courteous to everyone as soon as I walked in !!! Great job guys !!! Keep it up and I will be back !!

The store is nice but, its way too expensive. Look up the same product online and see the difference. Some of the staff was rude and didnt feel like they wanted to help customers.

Nice all round selection of water and fishing gear, has most of their supply stock most of the time, not a lot of triangle weights but hey, everybody trying to fish due to boredom, Ill let it slide. Workers are very patient and nice with everyone, so overall a great experience.

When needing assistance the young employees were not very knowledgeable

If you are planning on grabbing a fishing pole and hitting the water in style this is your place. Nowadays finding a place locally for fishing supplies is a lot more difficult so this place is a gem if you circumvent the double clicking route. The best thing about West Marine has been my experience with the staff who always go above and beyond with their customer service.

The store had extremely low stock. The manager couldn’t direct me to where the items I was searching for were located in the store. He had no knowledge of the items I was searching for and showed me unrelated items. He yelled at me as I was walking out the store. We will not return after being customers for over thirty years.

Expensive and takes forever to get help

Clean, well organized store. A large fishing section and lots of clothing, shoes/boots, foul weather gear etc. They have a decent selection of gear for your boat, but certainly not everything for everyone.The staff is hit or miss. They have some of the best WM staff (and WM staff is usually pretty good) but a couple of them are among the worst. Good thing the manager is one of the good ones. If the person helping you is useless, just ask for the manager.

Store picked clean. Understaffed. Many things I was looking for out of stock. No one able to help get high price items (binoculars/radios) for you.

Unbelievably poor service from this store. I bought a pedal drive kayak that broke within a week of the purchase, called the store and when I finally got a hold of them said they dont do refunds for kayaks or replace broken items. I was told any issues I needed to deal with I had to take to the manufacturer myself. Find a better place to shop, place is too expensive for poor customer service.

Great staff. Les is a great source of information for all your sailing needs. If you need it they have it or will get it to you within a week. Typical that Friday. Adrianne has to be the most helpful friendly manager I have come across. It’s hard not to get lost in this store, just letting your ideas wonder about what project you’re going to tackle next.

I apologize in advance for the length, but this review is regarding the pervasive decline of customer service. (excluding this Company:))The Good - A wire from the throttle body harness on my wifes 2007 Honda had come loose, and the the dealer wanted over $5k to fix it. On eBay, this company had a replacement for $168, so I bought it as replacement. While I was waiting for this part to arrive, I was able to have the pin soldered back in place, so I didnt need the part any more. I requested a return and they were able to issue me a return label.The Bad - Admittedly, I got busy with life, and misplaced the label. By the time I realize that I hadnt mailed the return, it was after the 30 day eBay return policy date. Via eBay, I contact the seller (AH Parts) and after several communications, I received the following, Were sorry you had a problem with your purchase. However, to receive a refund, buyers need to return the item within the required timeframe after the seller has accepted a return request. This item wasnt returned to the seller on time.So I decided to see if I could get this resolved the old fashioned way. I called them and said, I never opened the package and I would pay for return shipping. They stated that it was out of their hands and it was eBays policy....case closed.How life should be - I ordered some fire extinguishers from West Marine. When I opened the box, I noticed that one of them had discharged during shipping. Once again, I threw the package in my truck and the return period had passed. However, I went to the store and explained what happened.....The clerk said, Go grab a new one off the shelf and youll be all set.Really??? no back and forth?, no wasted-time?, no hassle?, understanding and being accommodating? = Great Customer Service = LIFE LONG CUSTOMER!!!West Marine is setting the standard for how customer service should be!!

Very clean and organized store with a good selection. I had to leave early though as there were so many people talking to clerks and swearing like crazy. The language in there was so foul from multiple people I had to get my nine year old out of there. Strange timing maybe.

West Marine in San Carlos is a fairly nice, largish location that carries boating equipment, clothes, and accessories. Note that different West Marine locations carry different items... I had to travel to the South San Francisco location to see a wider selection of foul weather gear. Ask the clerks and theyll help you find the location that is appropriate.

Today they had exactly what I needed in stock! That is not always the case.

Awesome staff!!! Super helpful. My daughter and I wanted to go fishing, and as total noobs we took 50 minutes of their time asking all sorts of questions about rod, tackle and bait. Their advice on fishing locations and gear was stellar. They didnt try to upsell more expensive stuff. And whats more, we managed to snap the fishing rod in half after fishing for 2-3 hours when the hook for stuck and we tried pulling it out (quite gently). They gave us a brand new rod when we came back, and joked with my daughter that we should tell stories about how big the fish was that snapped our rod. Could not ask for anything more. Will be back for all out fishing/boating needs!

The one in Sausilito is better, otherwise this is the place for all your marine needs

What can I saw... they have a ton of water and boat stuff here. If you want something ultra specific you have to order it however.

Idiot tried to charge me 14.99 for an item that was only worth 2.79. I asked the young idiot behind the counter why charge me 14.99 for a plastic tube and his response was “its a nylon tube ?!?!” Realllly!? Staff are too busy to serve customers in the store. They are never around to help you, they’re too busy talking on the phone or in the back. I am tired of standing around waiting for help!
