Im new to firearm ownership. The staff took the time to educate me and get me set up. Im very grateful to do business with such friendly and knowledgeable staff. If youre in the area this shop is definitely worth a visit. Can get busy at times but that is a testament to their loyal customer base.

The experience I had at Imbert and Smithers was very positive! The people were very friendly and helpful! I am a newer gun owner so I had a lot of questions but they patiently answered them all! I was a bit nervous to come here after seeing all the reviews, however, I think people simply misunderstood the situation if they left a bad review. There is a lot of paperwork involved in purchasing firearms and it can be very hard to keep track of with a store full of customers. Don’t be put off by the bad reviews regarding a long-wait or stating they were “ignored”. I went on two different occasions and when it was busy, of course you have to wait while they process the sensitive paperwork of the other customers, that’s just a fact. The second time I visited, it wasn’t as busy and I was helped immediately! The main fact is that these are good people and if they are busy, cut them a break! I personally loved my experience and am looking forward to visiting again!

If you told me there was such a thing as an anti 2nd amendment Gun Store in America I wouldnt have believed you until I came across Imbert and Smithers. They have chosen not to sell or deal in the AR platform at all. They have chosen to deny their customers the right to buy whatever firearm they wish. The reason for this is apparently because their own incompetence and behind the times attitude landed them in court because they failed to properly verify information or even behave as a Gun Store should and now they have decided to make that the customers problem rather than getting their act together and doing things legally and proper. Every other gun store in CA does it. It is really not that hard. Apparently it is too hard for these people though. It is embarrassing actually. The culture of the store and the people there seemed to pride themselves on being horribly behind the times as misguided elders tend to do. First time I was ever there I talked to a younger woman who was attempting to drag this store into the correct century but two years later I see no success and all I hear is horror stories. And from people who I actually recommended to go there in the first place. I cannot recommend this store anymore. In fact stay far away from these toxic levels of FUDD and outright misinformation on firearms laws they have to offer.Basically Imbert and Smithers is a Gun Store that has decided to stop acting like a Gun Store and customers should no longer treat it as such.

Very friendly staff! As a first timer it was smooth and easy. Would definitely recommend I&S for all your 2A needs! The staff was professional and knew exactly what would be best for me. I purchased a beautiful Glock 19 and cant wait to take her home!

Great folks running a great shop. Did a couple of transfers through them recently and they were both cordial and helpful. Were appointment only at time, which was honestly a benefit during covid. Transfer fees were a bit higher than other shops, but not unreasonable and it helps keep these kind of places in business so happy to pay it. I’ll definitely be back (when ammo becomes less scarce!).

Called them on Saturday asking if I could buy 200 rounds of .357 or .38 SP. Was told they had .38 SP but could sell no more than 100 rounds. They worked by appointments only so they took my name and phone number and asked to come on Wednesday at an appointed time. I came, was let into the shop, observed for 20 minutes 5 employees running around busy with answering phone calls and some other looked chaotic activity. Finally one of them noticed my presence, asked why I was there and told me they already sold all .38 SP. Neither did they reserve the stuff that I needed for my appointment, nor did they care to call me not to come.

Good selection of firearms and knowledgeable staff. Poor service though. Put up a gun for consignment. Was told after 30 or so days they would call me on all bids to see if I wanted to accept any of them. I do not hear from them and two months later I called them. I was told of an offer for my gun which I accepted. I was told that they would call me back once the check was ready for pick up. After not hearing from them several weeks I called they told me the check was ready. I went in and picked up my check from an female employee. She asked if I could hold off cashing the check since they were short in their bank account. I was told to call them back a week later and was told she was out of the shop and wouldn’t return until the next day. I called them and was again told she was out if the shop. Ridiculous, they easily and without hesitation deposited the buyers check into their bank account including their $300 + consignment fee, but they couldn’t make good on the check they issued to me?

Not a friendly staff, walked in planning to buy something over 900 bucks. But not a single “hello how are you” or “how can I help you”. You guys should really change your approach to younger people. If your new to the gun scene this isn’t the place for you. They’d feel more burden to help you and advise you on the process to get a gun. Go to City Arms in Pacifica much friendly staff, and more than willing to help any new person.

Good selection of different handguns and rifles, but in my case the service was very sloppy. Im first time gun buyer and not a great expert, but when I came to the store first time a lady showed me good looking used Colt Combat Commander with a nice brown grip and I decided to buy it. But 10 days later when I came to the store to pick it up I was shown another pistol which was old Commander model with black grip. The color of the grip is not really important for me, but the fact that they mixed the handgun and gave me not the one I selected was very annoying and upsetting. A day later I came back to the store and asked if they still had used Combat Commander in stock and I was said it was already sold. Now after spending more than 1300$ I feel like they cheated on me. Very bad feeling and very bad customer experience I will never come back to this store.

Been a customer for close to 20 years. Very active Hunter and shooter. Gina is the owner. They are truely an HONESt shop. Everyone has an opinion, but they are not going sell you something you dont need. There are so few Gun stores in the SF Bay area, Imbert and Smithers are solid.

Really the last place that has a working Gun Smith. These people are hunters and use their product on a daily. This is not a gun store for people that have never shot anywhere other than a range, pretenders, etc.... so pick up your ammo magazine and order from there please. Im sure there is an article that will explain how to shoot also

Listen, Show your face often and they will warm up to you. I go here a few times a month (sometimes once a week) to peruse their consignment section... and just remember that being in San Carlos / Belmont area there are some gems that find their way there. A few months back, there was a minty 2.5 blued Python that I passed on and wish I had the funds for. YES they are busy at times and know most of the customers there on first name basis. It helps to know what you want before you walk in, they have an old school mentality. Two years ago I would have given this place one or two stars but Ive had plenty of good experiences there after stopping by more frequently.

Can you remember that? you are the proprietor and you dont need to be such a smartass to me. I need a hand here. and then he hung up.Completely unnecessary and unprofessional.
