I had a couple of new tires to put on a vintage bike and Jim stayed past closing time to put them on. Quickly and professionally done. Also enjoyed talking to him about bikes of all makes and ages. I definitely recommend him for bike repairs and maintenance. Well trained, well rounded, most makes and models.
Recommend to any true motorcycle enthusiast. This mechanic is a A++ guy with a topnotch shop. I travel 30 miles to take my bike to this guy because I know what Im getting. Family owned an operated. Cant say enough about them. Was lucky to been sent here by other Track enthusiasts.
Starting issues with my 1100 vstar. Made (still has ) a grinding sound. Got starter gear kit and added oil & filter change. Took a ride up to Napa my oil fill cap shot off on the highway by Berkeley. Drenched in oil (includes bike) I pulled over. Bikes rear tire slipped twice trying to get safely to the side.Walked to gas station to clean up and buy oil.Found an old rubber glove and with paper towels I made a cap after filling her with the only oil the gas station had. Nothing is running right on my vstar now. Smh! Cant believe he cant get an oil change right.i did call him and he did call me back but its not like Im gonna have him work on it again.
My brake light went off and they work on it and complete the work the same day. Fair price and excellent service. I will definitely take my bike for all future work.
I dont usually leave reviews but Nikki(I hope I spelled that correctly) and Jim saved me when I was in a pinch. All I needed was 1 shim to complete my own valve adjustment on my zx6r and they were able to sell the exact one to me. Its great knowing there is a local shop that will help fellow motorcyclists. If you both read this thank you!!!
Absolutely amazing could not possibly get better or ask for more
Jim, Nickie, and the rest of the staff at Catalyst Reaction are absolutely the best in the business! Not only are they experts at everything for the street and track, but they always take the time to make you feel valued as a customer and go the extra mile to help with whatever you need.If youre in the Bay Area and need anything for your motorcycle, youd be remiss not to stop by and let these folks take care of you. They are simply the best shop youre gonna find, period.
They setup my r6 and now my cbr600rr no complaints.
Great experience getting my suspension adjusted. In and out in 15 minutes (had an appointment). Motorcycle safely lowered and handles better as well. I would recommend this place for sure! I came from Antioch based on the recommendation from California Speed Sports! Will definitely go back for other services.
Review is for past work done there. Googly saw that I walked by and pinged me...Good folks who do good work. Did suspension on my 2007 Tiger 1050. They recommended quality parts and helped me tune my suspension. On another occasion they adjusted valves, and tps. Work has been on time and on budget.
Jim is always super helpful out at the track. 👍
I have spent a bit of time trying to decide how I wanted to start this review. We all have to remember that riding a motorcycle is an inherently hazardous endeavor. It is critical that you surround yourself with people that understand that fact. The staff at Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning really understand that and make sure you are as safe as possible. The work completed on my motorcycle exceeded my expectations by a long shot. It is probably the best it has been since it was new in 2007.The knowledge in the building is incredible. Every time Jim and Nickie open their mouth, some new knowledge (to me) drops out. They even take the time to educate you on your machine, WOW! All you have to do is shut up and listen to them, I love it.I live in Yuba City and happily (kind of) make the drive to San Carlos for them to work on my motorcycle. I will be a customer and supporter for many years to come. This level of attention to detail and customer service usually means a HUGE bill, which is not the case at Catalyst Reaction. The work is not free, but based on what you get in return, it is worth every penny/dollar/Benjamin.Based on the lack of attention to detail and customer service at other motorcycle shops in Northern California, you will not be disappointed giving Catalyst Reaction a chance to earn your business.
This place is top notch with the best mechanic in the bay area. They fixed my sons dirt bike and went through everything in kess then an hour. Prices are the best.
Great staff, great service, pretty pricey.
My Ducati stopped running, coincidentally right outsides this shop. The owner took me in on the same day and helped sort everything out. Even though it was a busy day, he took the time to really stop and properly figure out the issue. (Fuel filter). This really meant a lot to me as I am already down on my luck.I’ve met many mechanics before, and I 100% know this is a good and trustworthy one. I will certainly be returning when I inevitably have more issues
Needed to have Ohlins shock serviced and installed on my Ducati Streetfighter 848. They gave me a quick appointment and the install was quick & flawless. After quick suspension adjustment I was out on the road in no time. Extremely professional and friendly shop. I would definitely recommend any motorcycle service they provide. Top notch business! Even though I come from the far reaches of the SF East Bay it was worth the distance to travel.
Jim and Nickie are the best! They are great to deal with and walk you through the process every step of the way. Whether its suspension or even just a tune up, look no further then Catalyst Reaction to get the job done.
They are the best !Thanks Nickie!
Great shop to service your bike, Jim is helpful and knowledgeable.Pice of mind.
I have a dr650 that I haven’t ridden in years!!! Tried to “give it away”, and it came back. I took it to Catalyst Reaction and they brought my city hopper back to life!!!! I almost forgot how much fun this bike was. Runs nice and “crisp!”. Not to mention, Jim was able to rebuild my factory stock progressive air shocks that is now discontinued. Thank you Jim, and Nikki.
I went there for a suspension tune with no appointment. Being a auto mechanic myself and know how suspension work on 4 wheel i wasnt sure how to adjust the suspension on my CB1000R. Jim was very knowledgeable and professional. He made the adjustments needed fast. Went for a roadtest and felt the difference right away. He said my stock rear shock is weak and i told him i eas going to replace it after i install a new exhaust. I suggested Ohlins but he recommended Nitron. Ohlins is not best for all. Learn something new and good info. Will be seeing him again for motorcycle needs.
Longtime customer, (about a decade...) always get good results. Only shop I trust.
Highly recommended for suspension work !!
Quick, simple and professional.
Ive been bringing my Ducati and my BMW to Jim for maintenance and repairs for about 5 years now. Hes honest, efficient, and far more affordable than any other repair shop Ive tried. I highly recommend Catalyst Reaction Suspension Tuning for all your motorcycle repair and maintenance needs.
Went to see Jim for just a suspension set-up and I got much more!!! He tightened my chain and no extra cost...btw I didn’t ask him to do that. Quick service and professionalism!!! I was grinning from ear-to-ear when I left. It’s a no brainer who I trust to do all my future maintenance. Go see these folks NOW!!!!
Bike feels 100xs better! Next bike I wont wait so long before coming in!
Top quality work, well worth the price and the drive to ensure the best for my bike.
Jim and Nicki really run a tight ship. Fair prices for top quality service! Highly recommended!
Superb people and great work! They look out for you and are completely straightforward throughout the process. I low sided my 06 sv650 and bent the radiator and bars a bit - they fixed both.
Just stopped by to work on a tire. The employees are very nice and polite. Highly recommend.
Ive taken two different bikes to Catalyst for suspension tuning. Both times Jim set me up just right. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and charge a fair price. I recommend this place to anyone who needs some tuning.
Updating my old review: Nickie and Jim have maintained my race bike this season, and it has frankly been just the right combination of doing everything that needs to be done, and nothing that is not worth the money.Service is top notch, communication is straight up at all times, prices are more than reasonable for the amount of effort, and responsiveness is unparalleled. If you race or care about real world bike performance, these are your people. If you just ride street and want straight up solid service, these are your people again.Jim and Nickie have been at this for a long time, and arent a shop where the results change from one year to another like so many other Bay Area shops.
Ive taken my second bike here, third bike when my second bike was gone and now Im left with just my 4th bike for various reasons on the manufacturer and upgrading in general.Tldr; genuine service, fair prices in the confusing world of motorcycles, they know your motorcycle better than you know the back of your hand!Im not much of a hands-on person so I rely on other people to do mechanical work on my bike while I eventually acclimate myself to lubing my chain and changing my engine oil and filter. As of today, this is the 3rd or 4th time Ive brought my bike to these guys. The one time I went elsewhere for a service feels like a total mistake there is such a big difference. This time Ive given then a big list of upgrades and add-ons to my bike as well as interval maintenance for my bike in the last 12k miles minus oil change and chain lube. They asked that I leave my bike there for about 2 days to make sure they can get everything done. They did give me an option to take it with me because it is my only vehicle to get around but they said that my bike would have to be put together for me to leave then taken apart again to the point for the service that is being done and time costs money, after doing my cost benefit analysis it was clear to me that taking mass transit home and back was the best option. There was one part that I forgot to bring and an add-on neither of us knew much about until it came to reading the manual and installing it. While I was away they called me about how some things will be installed and how I prefer it, we ended up collaborating well on it and Im glad they did! I ended up with exactly what I was invisioning with a couple roadblocks that are of no big concern now, I just need to do more research and bring the missing item. In the end I am 100% confident that they do a beyond excellent job on every they touch and I reccommend them to anyone I see around the bay even though I work in the Dublin/Pleasanton area.
They did some work on my brakes (replaced the brake levers and bled the lines). 20 miles away from the shop on the 101, my bike suddenly starts to slow way down for no reason. Luckily I was in a spot where I could pull over. Something had made my rear brake seize up.After limping the bike to a shop in SF (luckily I had a friend in a car who could ride behind me the whole way), I returned to CRST. The mechanics seemed apologetic and concerned. They offered to take another look at it and fix whatever the issue was. I appreciate the gesture, but I live in SF and would not be bringing the bike back down there just so they could potentially screw it up again. The small woman at the front desk was horrible. The guys here seem knowledgeable and friendly enough, but they seemed to just phone it in on my bike. I wont be going back there ever again. Again, the woman at the front desk was the worst. I feel sorry for the rest of the staff, who all seemed pretty cool.
Brought bike in for oil and plug change, these guys are great. The lady who checked me in was very polite and professional, and the mechanics were easy to talk to and seemed great at what they do. Would definitely recommend.
Hands down the best motorcycle repair and tubing and, well, whatever your Moto needs. The staff is small and super friendly they treat you with undivided attention and get back to you quick than any other shop Ive gone to in my 22 years of riding
Jim and Nickie are amazing people, they have taken me and my 2015 R1 under their wing for the upcoming AFM season. Jim knows his stuff, and Nickie is extremely responsive (even called me twice to remind me about stuff I needed to do to be ready for the races this weekend). Looking forward to a great year!
Great, friendly people that are very meticulous about their work. They have decades of experience in the motorcycle business as well as club racing. Highly recommended.
Hands down the best suspension shop in the Bay area, they have done all my work for years.
Fantastic service, great communication, always feels safe on my bike after they worked on it.
Best motorcycle mechanics on the Peninsula hands down. They know all brands & exotic stuff included. I trust nobody else with my two wheeled toys.
This place is The Best !!!They work on two strokes and four strokes.Like my 1984 Yamaha RZ500Or my 1985 Suzuki Gamma RG500They will also work on my 1986 Honda NS400R RothmansThey can do It All !Do yourself a favor and let these guys work on your bikes !They are not afraid of the rare and beautiful.
Catalyst is hands down the best motorcycle shop in the Bay Area. Theyre all honest, professional people who are purely interested in getting your bike to work the way you want it. I brought my SV650 here to get serviced and it feels like a new bike. I wont go anywhere else to get my bike worked on.
Knowledgeable and straight forward and they can work on anything. It took Ducati 9 months to not fix my bike, it took Catalyst one day to fix. Ive found my shop.
Bike is running better than ever thanks to these guys
Friendly, kind and knowledgable service. They deliver exactly what is promised. No other motorcycle shop could service my (somewhat unusual) Nitron shock. These guys did it with fantastic results. Great experience.
The motorcycling community is so lucky to have a place like this! I live over an hour North and I dont think twice about where to take my bike. 1 stop shop for everything on my bike.
Awesome service. Set up my stock suspension better than I thought it could get. Someday Ill upgrade. For now my FJ-09 is much better
Great advice even advised on warranties on parts.. Found other real problems that dealerships repeatedly ignored and fixed in under minutes.
Jim and Nickie are awesome! They always take great care of my bike and I dont trust anyone else to do the job like their team can.
Very knowledgeable and trustworthy - not at all douchey or elitist. Its a great weight off my mind knowing Ive got an awesome shop to take care of my bike.
Perfect shop. Four different bikes and I will take the next one there too.
Jim and his team have been taken care of my Diavel for 3 years. I love recommend them to everyone. If youre not happy with your shop, try Catalyst.
CRSTs new shop is awesome! Jim and nickie are the best and will go out of their way to give you the best service imaginable.
Friendly staff, good work on time, charged less than estimated.Edit: if you do suspension work make sure to ask to exchange wear and tear parts . They didn’t advice me to do that and a few rides later my seals leaked.
Excellent Suspension tuning
Havent been here in years since DAVE adjusted my GSXR 750 track bike and since then i had been using the same set up on the bike...but today i went to had my R6 streekbike set up for my weight... bike was stiffed on the front and bouncy on the back and intend to throw me out of the bike on a rough road... and here came JIM with the tools.. just a little tweaked here and there and boooooommm... loved it from the moment he had me tested the bike... i will not have anybody touch my suspensions on my bikes except from these guys.. Thanks JIM i highly appreciated..
The best. No one works on my bike but them.
I brought my brand new Yamaha FZ8 to this shop. Articulated to Jim, the owner that I basically want to change the entire geometry of the the bike. For anyone who does not know, an FZ8 is a sport touring bike, the sitting position is upright but you still lean on the handlebar. Unfortunately, this position put a lot of pressure on my arms and I always ended up with numb arms, even after a short ride. Jims task was to change my sitting position so I will no longer lean on my arms. He was very patience and listened very carefully to what I wanted. He practically tailored the bike to my size and desire. I just picked up the bike this afternoon, I was planning to simply take the bike home, Palo Alto, but I enjoyed the ride so much that I found myself having dinner in Santa Cruz. I came back home to Palo Alto only now, at 10:00 pm. My arms are not numbs and I did not even use my special gloves as this ride was not planned. I highly recommend this shop for any motorcycle work.
One of the top 2 motorcycle shops in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Good place to get your bike tuned
Highly recommended. Hooked me up at the track.
Quick attention to fitting two tires that Id bought in.
I had a great time there
Love these guys.
Cool
The only shop i want working on my bike.
