Flat out the best car buying experience you’re going to get. These guys are the best of the best and if this isn’t Toyota’s flagship dealership, it should be. Don’t take my word for it, do your research, but I chose to travel over 500 miles to get my car here and I couldn’t be happier.Shout out to Danny who made everything happen. He even picked me up from the airport on his day off is his personal car and it legit felt like I was meeting up with a friend hadn’t seen in a few years. He even had a mattress hit his car while we were driving on the freeway and I got to commend him on handling it like a champ. A lot of people would have gotten into an accident in that situation. He said it was okay, but Gina if you’re reading this can you get the service manager to look at his front bumper?(passenger side) The mounting brackets for the fender lining were definitely broken and I suspect it sustained more damage than it looks from the outside.Getting a used car from these guys felt like getting a brand new car. They handled everything over the phone and even picked me up at the airport and paid for the gas home. The car was absolutely top notch, and let me tell you, driving 575 miles home the confidence I had in the car after seeing the dealership and meeting the people made the drive so much less stressful. It of course made the drive flawlessly and while I’m not necessarily looking forward to purchasing another car again soon, I do look forward to getting my next Toyota from Mossy.
I just wanted to give a nice review for Dennis for helping me lease my new 2021 Toyota Camry xse hybrid. We had called in the morning regarding my application for financing as I am a new business owner and I am not sure how to go about buying / leasing a new car being self employed and Dennis answered the phone and made an appointment for us to come in and see the car with no compromise. Well, I fell in love with the car and he did everything he could to make sure we got the deal we had hoped for! The whole staff was awesome and friendly as well and did not try to force you to do any add on packages if you did not want to as other dealerships tend to do :-)
Thank you everybody at Mossy Toyota in Mission Bay for the outstanding friendliness and service given today 10/15/2021! I came in for an oil change awarded from the dog days of summer event and got exceptional customer care services that included installation of car windshield wipers, doing a 20 point checklist, then got an honest assessment for future repairs. 👏 I encourage anyone seeking a new or used car, or just having services done to their car to check out this location since the staff is so friendly, helpful, and honest. Great management team as well as the friendly lady who greets you at the door and loves her job, people and their pets! Very, very, pet friendly! Laurie
I first took my car in because the bottom plastic parts on my front bumper was falling off. I was told I would need to replace all the clips and the plastic parts because they had been damaged from it dragging on the road. I paid for both. When I was told they had fixed it, I went in and retrieved my car and they assured me that everything had been fixed. Less than a week later, I noticed the pieces were falling off again. I took the car back in and the mechanics discovered the previous repair had ZIP TIED the brand new plastic parts to the bottom of my bumper and had only replaced two actual clips. So, of course it had fallen off. I was NEVER TOLD my car had been ZIP TIED back together NOR received any refund for my purchase of new clips. I then paid for an ENTIRE new front bumper. Cost me over $1500. I had to REPURCHASE new plastic parts, new clips, new bumper everything.Fast forward less than a year. The right side of my bumper is falling off again. The bumper itself has ripped itself from the clip. I returned to Mossy to get it repaired as I believed it would be covered under warranty since I got the repair less than a year ago. They took it apart and discovered there was damage to the bumper. You can believe me on this next part or not but I am NOT a rough driver. I dont scape my bumper, I hadnt been in any accidents. I am a 21 year old female college student, I do not drive my car rough. I have no idea how the bumper got so mangled but at this point I suspect it was repaired wrong a year ago or a faulty part. They are now telling me I have to get the bumper replaced and the right clips - another $1000 quote.
I want to give another big shout out to the Team at Mossy Toyota! Dennis, Tom Seely and Andy Stemple! Thank you again, for working with my daughter and making her first time car buying the best experience! These guys are am amazing team! We appreciate you and will continue to do business with this group!
I decided to buy my first new vehicle a few months ago, so I stopped by the closest Toyota. I found a Tacoma that I loved but they priced it $10,000 above msrp. I understood that vehicle prices were high but because it was my first new vehicle, I didn’t want to feel taken advantage of. I spoke a while to the sales man before asking for a manager to see about the price coming down a bit. They lowered it 1,000 dollars but they told me that was going to be absolutely it. I even put $5,000 down. After the purchase I did some research into what other Toyota dealerships were offering their customers, and I found out Escondido and El Cajon were willing to work with customers much more on the pricing. I may have spent up to 5 or 8 thousand dollars more for my 2121 Tacoma 4x4 and that’s after they lowered the price a grand for me. I can obviously afford it but I work really hard for what I have and they knew that going in. I wouldn’t recommend doing any kind of business with this place. They’ll just try to find and exploit your weaknesses. I can honestly say I learned the hard way.
We were out here on vacation and when we lived here prior to moving we bought 4 new cars from Mossy. I was in Vegas and saw they had the truck my wife wanted and reached out and was thankful to have had Dennis be my point of contact. He didn’t shrug me off at all and treated me as if I was in front of him so when I returned from Vegas we went by and met him. The car market is crazy right now and even though we live 45 min from San Antonio’s Tacoma factory none of the dealers wanted to budge on the mark ups and wanted to sell us a used one at new prices. Dennis made it happen for us and was cheaper to buy the Tacoma here and have transported back to Texas!!!! Now that is TOP NOTCH customer service and putting the customer first. When you buy a new car from a dealer that is 1300 miles from where you live and will continue to do so, then you know Mossy Toyota is the best out there.Chase and Aurora Newingham
The saga continues….I reached out to Gina Gonzales, The Customer Service Manager as she suggested in her response to my previous review, but she did not respond. BIG SURPRISE.The dealership promised my son $450 as restitution for the CD player they finally admitted they could not fix and after stringing him along for four months of waiting. Today we thought everything was FINALLY over but when we opened the check that was mailed to us it was for the incorrect amount. They had only sent $150.I made several attempts to contact the service manager Robert and the sales manager Sami but kept getting the runaround. When I finally demanded to speak to someone I spoke with Sami Who told us some thing we have heard many many times before….” Oh there must’ve been some mistake we are sorry” and here’s the best part their financial office won’t be open until AFTER the long Fourth of July holiday so my son has to wait even longer to get the money promise to him!It has been FOUR MONTHS since we originally purchased this vehicle from Mossy Toyota and unfortunately we are still not done having to deal with them. This has been by far the absolute worst car buying experience I have ever had in my entire life! The incompetency of the staff at Mossy Toyota is MIND BLOWING! No one will take accountability for any mistakes and certainly no one is willing to correct them. For your own sanity DON’T BUY A CAR FROM MOSSY TOYOTA.Travis Mossy please contact me ASAP!
Excellent Customer Service! Just bought a brand new Corolla Hatchback at a great price from Jake. He is a sweetheart and so friendly, efficient, communicative and punctual. Then Santiago took great care of me with the financing, paperwork and answering a million questions. It was a super fast & feel good transaction. No typical icky car buying feeling at all. Very impressed. I am a small business owner & I am all about Customer Service. Toyota is truly the best but this location and the 2 associates Jake & Santiago were A++ and I would like to thank them for everything!
After 65000 miles driving had to change my front brake pads and drums for $629 for parts and labor and taxes at Mossy Toyota. 4 months later and after driving only 13000 miles, I hear noises. Took it to Mossy. Sat there for three hours and was told there is NOOOO brake pad LEFT and drums are damaged and need another replacement and they don’t even have the parts!!!I was even told my vehicle is not safe to drive!!!!Same driver, same car, same way of driving. What happened? For how long I was driving an unsafe vehicle? Were the pads even changed four months ago?Or did they use genuine parts? No warranty, no responsibility, nothing!!!!The supervisor gentleman promised they will contact Toyota and give me an update by tomorrow and I hope they do.If this is not fixed, that only means Mossy is not trustworthy. No other possibility. Also, if this is not fixed, I’ll take my vehicle to another service center. If Mossy used bad parts or didn’t change the parts at all, I will sue Mossy for endangering my families life.
They were great on price, on service, and did extra steps to help out my son with his first car. Isai was excellent and attentive, straightforward in everything. Mark in finance really helpful.
2 for 2 on service and experience. Ive had two truck windows replaced and theyve come to my work and are done within a hour. Thank you Freddy!
Impressed, to say the least. Never in my life did I think buying a car would be so painless. I got a quote from Jake over the phone, somebody beat it, Jake called me back and beat it right back! We did all of the negotiation over the phone and he went ahead and took care of everything on his end. When we got there, all we had to do was sign. Santiago took care of us from there while Jake got my brand new car taken care of to drive off the lot. We got there at 8pm because we had to work, so even with them having to stay until 10 pm they made us feel at home, comfortable, and like family. We all joked around and were relaxed with each other. No hidden fees, no typical salesmen vibes, no pressure on anything. Educated us on the vehicle and took the best care of us. Whenever it’s time for us or a family member to buy a car, we are for sure heading straight to them. These two were by far the best salesmen in the industry, by far. Thank you guys, again!
I was at Mossy Toyota today and was troubled by what I observed:1. Management behind a high wall allowed their salesperson to interrogate a young couple in a public waiting area. Anyone in the room could hear this couples credit scores and other personal information. It wasnt funny to me that the salesman told this couple your private information will never leave these four wall! That may be, but what about within them?2. The young couple gave no evidence of doing research and treated the salesman like he was a professor (or celebrity). However, Mossy took advantage, telling the couple they would be charged $3k above full sticker because the car was in demand and had added-dealer-profit items like ceramic coating. The couple did not challenge this in any way.3. The nastiness of the girl manning the retail parts counter was for the books. Not only did she refuse to take even $0.01 of the Mossy inflated car-part prices, she lied (or was misinformed) about not being able to use the Toyota Parts site to order parts shipped to Mossy for pick-up. Of course, this would have been at a 25% lower price.Mossy was specifically listed as a pick-up location on the Toyota Parts web site. Check for yourself.I dont like to see folks taken advantage of. It was a pleasure to leave that Toyota dealership, without giving them a nickel. I will not deal with any Mossy dealership in the future.
Have to give a star to review but I dont even think they earned even 1 star. The managers are not very helpful they dont like to respond to people. They tend to say you are not important enough that we should acknowledge that you indeed have requested information. I wouldnt buy from them if they were the only Toyota dealership in San Diego. I would drive cross country before I would buy form these guys. They dont care about anyone but themselves. Buyers beware of that kind of service.
Asceph was pushy and rude. Tried to lowball me and take advantage of me. Told me that his dealership offered way more for trades than other dealers then offered me $4k less for my Tundra than a written cash offer I had in hand from another dealer. Wasted 2 hrs of my time and a hard inquiry on my credit.
Amazing experience!!! BRIAN ROBITAILLE in the Service Dept took care of me & my new truck like a pro!! He was super nice, communicated with me throughout the entire process and worked with my insurance company with ease- getting your brand new truck serviced is never fun, but Brian made it much better!!! My new go to place for my truck - THANK YOU MOSSY SERVICE TEAM 🙏❤️ 🛻
Thank you Mossy Toyota for a quick & painless service experience on my 4Runner. Dante Duckett was professional & courteous. The Multi Point Inspection is impressive! My go to spot in San Diego for Toyota service.
I would like to write a review with my recent experience with Piero, the service advisor. He goes above and beyond for his clients. I believe this is now the second time I have had him and he’s proved to go above and beyond once again. I am really happy with his service and will continue to ask for him. As far as mossy toyota in general as a whole I’ll leave a different review because Piero deserves every bit of 5 starts for his excellent customer service! Thanks again for your help!
Not a good experience in the car service department. I didnt hav They were very slow and disorganized as no one seem to know where i should get my car back as I walked around the building trying to track my car down after they said it was finished. Poor communication as well I believe overpriced as well especially considering the horrible slow customer service I received. I would never go back here
Just got off the phone with Karla. She was so polite and excellent on the phone! Best customer care/service I have ever received. Highly recommend this place! They are fast and reliable.
This review is for the WiFi service. If you have any work to do while you wait, you’re better off just paying for a Lyft back to where you normally work. It’s truly awful here! The value of my time wasted waiting on the Internet would more than pay for the car service. HUGE waste of time!
WOW #1 dealership to go to for honesty, a great deal & a beautiful vehicle! After visiting multiple dealerships and becoming overwhelmed by sales people and prices and feeling I was getting the run around and even worse given horrible deals to choose from... I almost gave up searching! I went to Mossy Toyota in Pacific Beach and received help from every angle, no stress, the GSM Andy made me feel like family and gave me the bottom line within my parameters, the finance department helped me through all the paperwork flawlessly and I left there with NO buyers remorse and stoked to be in a RAD 4runner which I know will last me for years to come!! Couldnt be happier with Mossy Toyota in PB!!
I received poor customer service from the internet sales manager Dennis. I was looking to sell my vehicle and purchase a Rav4(maybe). He stopped messaging me when i said i didnt want to do a trade, and also didnt return my calls. Im glad i went over to Mission Bay Chevrolet, where i was treated much better and wasnt pressured to buy a car from them in order for them to buy my car. If you are looking to trade or sell your car i would recommend you go elsewhere.
After waiting in my car without anyone approaching me for 20 minutes on the day of my service appointment, I stepped out of my car and found Mr. David Rodriguez, Assistant Service Manager at Mossy Toyota on the Mission Bay Drive. He attentively listened to my frustration and proceeded to immediately take care of my car.He provided the best service and attention that I have ever received in my lifetime at agency. He solved the problem personally and quickly. He is effective, attentive, respectful and kind. I dont have enough praises to give to Mr. David Rodriguez. Congratulations for having such a wonderful and professional associate on your team. I will always return to your agency, and I will always request his assistance.Thank you,Felipe LeffDate of service: Monday, February 22 2021 3:15 PM
I love this family owned dealer. You don’t feel stranger when you go there. Me and my wife leased a 2021 Corolla, thanks to Tom Larkin for making this Awesome deal! Stacy the Finance manager was great too!
BE AWARE OF FALSE ADVERTISING!I was trying to purchase a Rav4 Prime from Mossy Toyota. I received offers on their website (see attached - at ~$49K) suggesting that the dealer will charge the MSRP price. I thought I was going to the dealership just to fill out the paperwork. I did a test drive of the vehicle and wanted to proceed with the purchase. They said they must run my credit score which they did (attached) and only then I was presented with the offer which was 30% above the MSRP price! Yes, $65K which is $15K above the MSRP!When I presented all the emails and evidence showing I was given a different price online, I was told that online prices are just suggestions and the dealership is free to sell at the highest market value they can get. See attached - I have emails and PDFs and nowhere does it say that this is ONLY a suggested price and you will be charged 30% more at the dealership.Bottom line: I have a hard credit inquiry on my credit score and deep disappointment with Mossy Toyota dealership practices.
Mossy Toyota is a great place to have your vehicle services. The staff is very professional and will go out of there way to make sure you are taking care of. I took my Suv in and signed up for the monthy wash. Alfonso was the young gentleman who helped me out. He was extremely costumer friendly. He even made me feel like I was part of the team. I will definitely come back and will let others know of the great job this team does. Thank you Alfonso. Much respect to you for your hard work brotha!
I recently purchased a used car and took the vehicle to Mossy for a Pre Buyer Inspection. I had an issue with the vechicle inspection but was able to find a solution with their team. I appreciated Roberts concern and communication. Overall it was a good experience at Mossy Toyota.
Just had my 10k service last week... today I decided to check fluids under hood and found my coolant level is lower than the minimum line and the windshield washer fluid reservoir is empty, contrary to their statement of the service. I dont know what else they did not do.
1 hour 47 mins. From stepping out of ny car, through the paperwork with Jake, thru the Financial paperwork with the Finance Guys. A very drama-free evolution. Jake greatly tolerated my NUMEROUS emails and (stubborn?) refusal to phoncon. Rav4 XLE was identified, and its delivery to MT was updated by Jake daily. 5 days later, car there, paid for and driven away. Very professional customer service. Thank you Jake and Mossy Toyota.
I recently leased a white Toyota Camry SE 2021 and it was a great experience. The guys from Mossy Toyota were very helpful especially the general sales manager Sami Amiri. Thank you Sami for making my lease purchase a breeze and getting me a good deal.
My 2013 Toyota Prius check engine came on last week and I brought it in here to Mossy Toyota of Pacific Beach. Unfortunately for me it was a blown head gasket. After doing the math and exploring other options it did not make much sense to repair the car because it was also not paid off. I ended up getting a 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid around the same payment! The process could have not been any more smoother. The finance director Valerie Andrada was great and made what was a bad day turn into a great day. Stacey was also wonderful in finance and very fast. I could not be more happy with my new car and experience!
So these guys advertise $28600 roughly for 2021 Rav4s on Cars.com with MSRP being 29400. But when you call they the sales manager Thomas Seely he says he does have 2019-2021 in stock but non of them will be $30k and below. False advertising even when MSRP states the are 29k is pricing. To my fellow military members, watch out for this place, seems shady. We deploy and sacrifice our selves and we also work hard for our money. Dont take it here boys. Ooh rah!!
Update 6/2020:Mossy toyota has failed again. Zero stars if I could. Was contacted by david palmiotto for their lease Pull Ahead program to get out of the lease early by starting a new one or going into a purchase (They know Im unhappy with the vehicle and the deal I got). I was initially happy when I heard about those deal and I told david what I was looking to get into, and he contacted me twice with vehicles that were no where close to what I was interested in. Obviously he, and the rest of the sales team, only operate in their self interest. Additionally, I went for service and got a wash. I received a text that my car would done in 10 minutes so I showed up in 25min to give them a little buffer, but I ended up waiting an additional 45min! The reason was bc there was sand in my floor mats... I have rubber all weather mats, a vacuum would clean ALL the sand in 5sec... This was just a lazy excuse for a lazy wash job. There were new scuff marks when I received my vehicle and there were still spider webs in my truck bed. What kind of wash is that?!? See pictures to visualize their terrible car wash10/2020 update:I looked through many of their reviews, and the majority of the 5 star reviews I saw were from people whove reviewed 10 or less locations. Many of whom only have reviewed one place, Mossy Toyota. This is indicative of falsifying their reviews to appear legitimate/reliable.6/2019 Terrible experience Everytime Ive gone. When I purchased my car there I had the quintessential car salesman experience; talking with his manager to reduce the price, getting a better loan deal from the banks, but it was all a sham. He didnt mention that my lower lease price was bc its a 4 year lease rather than a 3 year lease until after I signed some papers. The monthly payment is $60 more than what was promised due to mandatory Toyota care. Bumper to bumper coverage does not cover bumper to bumper and they would not replace my rear view mirror. I found a replacement rear view mirror that is made by Toyota (not a knock off) that was $200 less than what they quoted me and they would not order it so I had to go to mossy Toyota in el cajon to get the part ordered and fixed. Everything they do is in their own interest and they do not car about the customer at all. They are deceitful and uncooperative.
I went in to look at used cars. A sales person showed me a used car that was just traded in. He told me the car would not be available for 2 days. He got my number and we set up a time to view and test drive. After coming in and test driving the car, inspecting it and sitting down to talk price the sales member found out the car was already sold.I am not mad the car was sold, I am 1 upset the sales person waisted my time (2.5 hours). 2 he lied saying the car wouldn’t be ready to make sure he received the commission. And 3 he persisted in trying to find me another car as I was walking out. They are bating and trying to flip you into another car, a scummy sales tactic.
Do not buy a car from this dealership, we bought a car from them on finance, a few days later we got a call from Finance director Valerie Andrada asking us to change from our signed contract to a different one with much worse terms and a down payment that they didnt ask for originally, when we refused Valerie Andrada threatened to take the car back, when we arranged alternate finance through our credit union thats when she got really unprofessional and frankly quite psychopathic, by flooding our inbox with harassing texts constantly.Btw, I am still waiting for proof that I signed a contract that allowed them to change it to worse terms, Valerie Andrada refuses to send proof, says verbal is enough. This is the second car we have bought from Mossy, never again.Scam artists at work here, be careful.
This place is super shady, be super careful, they will list one price to drag you down to the dealer and switch bait for a higher price because of demand. They do not honor the listing price and try to add extra, and by extra I mean thousands not 300-400 dollars. If you are in the market do some research and shop around and call before you go here or any dealer for that matter. Be aware of this dealer. The manager almost didn’t care at all to correct the mistake, sucks to see dealers take advantage of pandemic and charge mark up fees of $3500 because of demand. Shows the kind of business practices they teach their employees and local residence. Good luck to you guys and your practices.
Special thanks to Raul and Gerry at car wash/detail area Mission Bay Toyota. Outstanding service and guest relations. Went out of their way to describe services and provide options for future services. Will be back soon. Thanks guys.
Came in to look at a Tacoma TRD Off Road, this dealership wanted 10K over MSRP (yes, you read that right) for the privilege to buy one off of their lot. I am of course familiar with supply and demand, I get that in such extraordinary times dealers are well within their rights to be inflexible on prices to stay afloat. But a 10k markup on a tacoma is quite literally highway robbery. What really drove me to write this review was the salesmans claim that this was justified because it was a rare model (LOL, temporary supply chain issues =/= rarity), and then immediately asking me if I would pay 5k over. Clearly, that price isnt based on economic necessity, but rather listed in the hope that someone would show up with more money than sense and be convinced that this price is what you should expect for these trucks. The sales manager then offered to put me on a waiting list for when they would be able to sell me the truck at MRSP. So, you have multiple people willing to buy the truck currently parked on your lot, but are so concerned with short-term market conditions that youre unwilling to sell it without an outrageous markup? OK, dude.Obviously Mossy Toyota is entitled to advertise their vehicles at whatever price they deem appropriate. Please dont be dumb enough to pay those prices. I found exactly the truck I was looking for out of state, delivered to me for under MSRP. I highly encourage prospective tacoma owners to expand their search to outside of California, and I encourage everyone to avoid Mossy Toyota for leveraging a global crisis to line their pockets. They have lost my patronage for any future vehicle purchases, and I will never pay for services/accessories from a dealership that thinks this is acceptable.
Do not buy a vehicle from this dealership! Especially if you have an out of state address! The representative here registered my vehicle in CA when it did not need to be. This is after I repeatedly asked for it ti be registered in mu home state.I’ve spoken with the state of CA 3 times and each time it was stated that this dealership didn’t have to register my vehicle in CA. This dealership did not want to do the necessary work to register my vehicle in my state of address. I’m currently still trying to resolve getting my vehicle registered.
Is zero stars possible? I could not be more disappointed by my interaction tonight at Mossy.Be very careful as they try to fool you with how they present numbers. I thought bait and switch went away on 1985....We had been looking at a car for the past month and was called back by the salesman a month after our first visit to see if we were still in the market. We had a printed price that they had given us and negotiated with the salesman over the phone for an additional $350 off. When we went through all the paperwork, we discovered the final price we received was the same as the original price! The salesman muttered about the discount being off invoice price. He went back to management and came back and flatly denied to our face that he had offered the $350 discount. I cant remember ever being lied to so blatantly.I would have bought the car and given this same review, but the manager came out and refused to sell it. So now well go to another dealership.
I am honestly disappointed that I have to write this. My last experience at this shop a year ago was great. I had one of the most unprofessional experiences with the service department manager. I had my car towed here because of an ignition coil that this department replaced a year and 2 days ago. I was told that they would give me the part and only charge me for the diagnostic fees multiple times throughout the day. After paying the fee I was told that they never agreed to give me the part. I was asked to show proof in writing and the manager insisted that calling the customer a liar was simply miscommunication. He also kept repeating so you want me to just give you the part? I then asked what it would cost to pay for it and was again disrespected. I will be contacting Toyota corporate as Im sure and hope this isnt their standard for customer care.
Bait and switch, Trying to sell on payment instead of on price repeatedly when I specified I wasn’t concerned with them finding me a payment as I had cash in hand. Price was around 10k over sticker price, so dishonest it was actually amusing. Continuously expressed shock when I didn’t buy into their unfair tactics and expressed disbelief when they realized I was deeply familiar with dealer terms (I am very familiar with the car industry) and Austin even admitted that they indeed pulled some car sales stunts when I called him out. They Grossly undervalued my trade in. Just poor sales tactics and dishonesty left and right. Would not recommend. Far Better deals at other SD county Toyota dealers don’t waste your time on this one. And such steep unfair markups during a pandemic? Do better, Mossy 💕
Horrible. Intimidation tactics and pressure. Check somewhere else for cheaper cars with less miles.
Mossy Toyota is probably one of the worst dealerships I have ever been to, and a poor representation of the Toyota name.I have a newer Toyota that was purchased at a different dealership out of state, and I absolutely love my car. In fact, I love Toyota as a brand.I brought my car in for the 2-year routine maintenance, and also needed a key replaced. One of the assistant service managers, said that the “programming of the key would take all day” so they could not do it that day since I had an afternoon appointment. Not a problem, I could take it in later. While waiting for my car, the guy tells me the cost to replace my key was $435. Oy vey, that is a lot of money! The guy said I could use a new cabin filter, and I think that came in at about $65. So it is safe to say, my visit was at least $500.A short while later, my car was ready - I swipe my AMEX, and am told I will get a call to schedule coming in for my key programming. I walk to my car and notice that it is still dirty, which seemed very strange because every time I have taken my cars in for service they have gone through a complimentary car wash. As strange and annoying as it was, I was a bit busy with work and had to rush off.Now the following week, I get a call from Mossy - we have your key, when can you come in? I scheduled an appointment and brought my car in. While in the service line, the check in girl needed to ask her boss a question about entering my key related case in the system. I decided to ask him about the complimentary carwash that I missed out on, do they not do those?! He proudly proclaimed “We are one of the only dealerships that does not provide a complimentary car wash” - what a weird thing to be proud of. He offered to sell me a car wash and said he could give me a coupon - you have got to be kidding me I thought, at this point I would rather pay to have one done elsewhere.I had been waiting in the service line for awhile, plus the whole carwash thing ticked me off so I was annoyed that the girl made me go into the service center to talk to the assistance service manager - I had already paid for my part, and was under the impression that programming would take all day as indicated at my first appointment with Mossy, so I wanted to go home and get back to work. I am now told that the reprogramming will only take an hour or two. How did all day become an hour or two? Prepared for all day servicing I did not bring my laptop with me, so I did need to get back home to work. I said I would go home, but was not not offered a complimentary car or shuttle as typical with previous dealerships I have visited. So now we can add ~$35 in Ubers to my ordeal.I get home, and the carwash was really grinding my gears. I spent around $535 (plus the prepaid maintenance plan from when I originally purchased my vehicle), and Mossy couldn’t throw a free carwash my way? The audacity. So I made a few calls to nearby dealerships, and asked if they offered complimentary carwashes/loaner vehicles. Here is what I found:Chula Vista - carwashes and either a loaner vehicle depending on availabiliyKearny Mesa - carwashes and either a loaner vehicle or rideNorm Reeves - carwashes and either a loaner vehicle or shuttle are provided complimentary. Note that some services (shuttle) are suspended due to covid. An hour after dropping off my car, I get a call that my car is ready. You have to be kidding me. $35 wasted on Ubers because I was told it would be an all day ordeal. I pick up my car, mention he said it would take all day, he responded with “I said it would take all day?” And eventually “ I don’t remember saying that, sorry”.Happy to no longer be a customer of Toyota Mossy. Toyota Chula Vista you have my business and I will probably buy another Toyota in the next year, sucks to suck Mossy.*UPDATE: Robert from Mossy contacted me and offered to reimburse half of the Uber cost. Typical sleazy salesmanship practices. I walk in with an end of lease car to pick up pretty much the exact car. Doesnt get much easier. I know exactly what I want. They find me a car that matches what I want give and take a few options. One thing I did want was a skid plate ($529 retail). Salesman promised once the deal is done, hell get me one at dealer price and I can slip one of the guys in the back $20 for installation. He tells me to call him the next day for this. Deal is done, I go away, text him two days later and he offers me the plate for $529. Plate is $355 online. When I remind him of our “deal he advises me I should get it online. Oh... one last thing, they ate my last month of lease payment on the old car. Love the cars, hate dealing with dealerships and sleazy salespeople... wish car companies would one day have the guts to sell direct to consumer. Finance guys were super nice. But in general a real bad aftertaste.
I have been taking my car here for five years. Often they are super helpful. Sometimes they leave dirt on the car indoor handles but clean it once I point it out.Today, however, I had an appointment scheduled weeks ago. I did not get a confirmation email or text like I always do. Im living in LA and made a special trip down for an afternoon appointment. They are unable to take me now, did not confirm my appointment. They dont have time. I work in LA 12 hour days. I do not have time to get my car maintained during the week.Im now having to find another dealer to service my car and I dont have any time to drop it off. My trip here today was a waste of my time and the extra miles on my car.
Great selection, clean facility, staff is attentive & Friendly. You can get a discounted lyft ride or rent a car for cheap
Three issues make me give this place such a terrible review:1. They ran a credit check without authorization. In fact, we had no intention of buying a car on credit because we have to apply for a home loan soon (in fact we paid cash for the car we ultimately purchased to avoid this). But they asked for my info and I gave it—while making it clear that I did not intend to use credit. They said no problem, it was just to put me in their system. But I later got a letter in the mail saying that Mossy Toyota had ran our credit... without our consent.2. Price: they offered the least cash-back ($0, and said I was lucky they werent actually marking it up; I was offered $2500 off the same model elsewhere) and by far lowest trade-in value for my car (they offered $500 instead of the $3000 I traded it in for at a different dealership).3. The salesman I dealt with was a pushy douche. I left after about 15 minutes total.
False Advertising!!! Shady pricing. Called regarding a car advertised on Auto Trader. Was told it was $8K over MSRP. Not honest and it looks like other people have found the same. Shame on you! Reported them to the city and FCC.
I was mislead regarding how long it would take to complete my SCHEDULED oil change and tire rotation. Upon my arrival I was told my vehicle would be complete in less than 2 hours (which is incredibly too long to begin with). However, after an hour and a half I got curious and went to check on my vehicle. After speaking with the service advisor I found out the oil had not yet been drained from my vehicle and my tires still had not been rotated (which is what I thought I was here for). I refuse to ever visit this dealership again, if that is how they run their service department I cant imagine what it must be like to do business with the sales department. NEVER. AGAIN.
Awful service from the parts department! I was never treated so bad as a customer in my life. Awful
I just purchased my vehicle from Mossy Toyota and my experience was great. Valerie and Will were both very helpful and so knowledgeable. They answered all my questions and made the process so easy. I highly recommend you go check them out and have Valerie or Will help you find your next car!
Mark and I have been working for months on finding the best car for me, thank god we finally did. Mark definitely went above and beyond, he listened to what was Important and was able to find me the perfect car without me even looking, he had it ready as soon as I got there. Thanks for being amazing Mark!
I had excellent experience at Mossy Toyota. Jeremy Sturm took great care of me and got me the vehicle I wanted at a fair price. I recommend going to see him if you are looking for a vehicle. You wont be disappointed.
I just wanted to take a minute to thank Jake T. and Santiago (in Finance) for making our car buying experience at Mossy Toyota - Pacific Beach completely painless and gratifying. It has been a while since I purchased a new vehicle, and my expectation going into the car dealership was that the process would be exhausting, difficult and the sales associates would be disingenuous. My husband and I walked in knowing the exact car we wanted, and Jake was straight to the point in helping us get it at a fair price. Jake was responsive, sincere, friendly and his customer service was exceptional. He went above and beyond what was necessary to make sure we went home with the car we wanted that same night. We finished paperwork at about 9:00 p.m., and Jake drove to our home to pick up a check for the car, as I didn’t bring a check with me to the dealership. Not once did he complain. Instead, he kept assuring us that it was “not a big deal,” even though we live 30 minutes north of PB.My husband and I visited other Toyota dealers in the Inland Empire and Orange County who gave us slightly better quotes, but their customer service was awful. Jake made us feel valued and he is the reason we decided to purchase our new Rav4 Adventure at Mossy Toyota. He is an exemplary employee and I’ve already told all my associates who compliment my new car where they can go if they want a new Toyota and great service! 🙂Also, Santiago made the financial and paperwork process so seamless for us. He was informative, without being pushy, and very knowledgeable on all that Toyota has to offer. I greatly appreciated his patience and insight!
Nice place. Assistant service manager Richard Carver is very professional, efficient and honest - a very good guy. He will answer and listen to your concerns. He is a great asset to Toyota. I have had work on my car and i only trust Richard. Thank you.
I have had nothing but great experiences since purchasing my Highlander here! Demetrio the sales guy was awesome he knew what I wanted and I walked out of there with nothing less👍🏼☺️ I get my car serviced here all the time as well. People have this mindset that getting your cars maintanence at a dealership is expensive, its not it will cost you more in the long run if you go elsewhere and its not done right. They have a great complimentary shuttle that will drive you within a 10 mile radius. And the waiting area is very modern TVs and charger docks. Coffee and water, popcorn.Bryan in the service department is always very helpful! He listens to your concerns and always gets you in right away Very professional! Thanks guys!
If I could give zero stars, I would. I walked in a first time buyer and excited to start a long-term relationship with a dealership. I was looking to lease a Camry. Unfortunately, the sales rep I trusted turned out to be your typical sleaze you think of when going to a dealership. After a lot of back and forth, I ended up leasing the vehicle with payments of $450 a month. I was promised this was the best deal they could get me. I went home and woke up the next morning to a text with a picture of the exact same lease deal with payments that were HALF what I was paying. I immediately went to the dealership and asked them to honor their offer since it was being offered at the time I signed my lease. I was given the run around by three employees the main person being Chris. He was the most hostile, rude customer service representative I have ever come in contact with. The immaturity and attitude I received was absolutely mind blowing to say the least. Not only was he extremely unprofessional, he lied straight to my face. There are many other things that happened but its too much to go into detail. After feeling taken advantage of and treated the way I was, I immediately went to a credit union and was approved for a loan so I could buy out the vehicle. I NEVER wanted to have to deal with Mossy Toyota again. To say I am disappointed and frustrated with my first car buying experience would be a massive understatement. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. They claim to be family owned and a great company but they are the furthest thing from that. I will be taking my business to a different Toyota company moving forward.
I have been a Mossy Toyota customer since 2003. An incident occurred on Nov 2019 after I had my car serviced which I addressed with Mossy Toyota. I am glad and thankful that they rectified the mistake and made necessary arrangements to ensure my concerns were addressed. Mr. Richard Carver was very helpful as he has always been. He has been my service rep as long as I have been a Mossy Toyota customer and have always been impressed with his professionalism. Lastly, I just saw the email reply from gina@mossy and thanks for reaching out. That is why I have remained a Mossy customer for the past 16 years. Thank you.
4.5 hrs waiting for oil change, booked time in advance. Mossy Ford does same stuff but 2-3 times faster. It was my last visit here, each time it is getting longer and longer.
Alan was brilliant in helping my wife and I to choose the right car. He was knowledgeable and friendly and made the car buying process very easy. Robin in the finance department was exceptional as well. Both were very nice and had us on the road in no time! After a few negative experiences in other dealerships the team at Mossy Toyota was a breath of fresh air. Alan wasnt pushy and didnt try to sell us on a more expensive car. He worked within our budget and we are delighted with our purchase. I would highly recommend Mossy Toyota and Alan in particular to friends that were interested in buying a car. The whole experience was relaxed and Mossy Toyota will be the first stop on the list for purchasing a car in the future.
Excellent dealership - great customer service, great price, very efficient. Kyle is especially helpful.
Highly recommend this car dealership, and ask for Tom Larkin! He has been the most genuine car salesman I’ve ever met. I really appreciated his non-pushy attitude and all his knowledge about the cars.
I would give a 0 star rating if I could. Valerie in finance is SO unprofessional and deserves to lose her job! I called to resolve something that had to do with them selling me a whole LEMON ! 2016 accord that accumulated $1000 worth of repairs when we have only had the vehicle for a few months. She was so unprofessional and rude when I brought up the fact they tried to contact me months later demanding I make a payment to them that I never authorized for them to pay in the first place! Not to mention they had us ILLEGALLY sign three separate contracts and when we tried refusing we were threatened with higher car payments. She told us we HAD to come in THAT day to sign or else our payments would go up and we went in when they TEXTED us that night at 4pm and ended up staying there until closing because NO ONE would help us! Not to mention while car hunting DANNY, who sold us the vehicle knew our budget, knew how much we were looking to spend and how much we were looking to spend monthly. Not only did he go over our overall car budget total by $7,000 he assured us my husband and I only got approved for this ONE vehicle come to find out that was a huge lie! They told us they would keep our monthly payments affordable and ended up going up over $100 more a month. The disrespect I got from Valerie was uncalled for and my phone recorded the whole conversation that will be getting sent to the manager and the higher ups. You should never talk to a customer the way she did. Clearly they aren’t training their employees properly.
First off, let me say that I had a great time working with Thomas. He worked hard helping me try to locate what I was looking for and it showed in the email and phone traffic. When I went to see what he had lined up for me to check out it was staged and ready to be test driven. I met his partner James and got the same positive vibe from him as well. The customer was bomb, but the best part was being able to engage on a level beyond sales pitches and haggling. I am happy that I got a chance to work and meet with two outstanding salesmen. Ultimately, I ended up making a purchase elsewhere due to inventory but the time I spent working with them at Mossy Toyota was completely worth it.
I had the best experience purchasing my first car. It is such a big step and I was so overwhelmed at the thought however the team at Mossy Toyota truly made me feel like I was part of their family. They had so much patience for me during this process. I never felt rushed or overwhelmed. I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Luis in sales made sure I knew everything about my car, he even helped me with the small things like connecting my phone, William in finance made it so easy for me to understand everything I was signing, I felt like he really valued my time and made sure it was an enjoyable experience, and Valerie was a godsend she held my hand through every step of the way and really made me feel very comfortable and took all my stress away. Thank you to the dream team at Mossy Toyota for helping me during the biggest purchase of my life, so far. It was so wonderful driving out of the lot on the full tank of gas they put in for me :)
Absolutely do not purchase anything from this dealership. Not only are they unwilling to admit any wrongdoing but they act completely unprofessional calling you names like tough guy. The finance department needs close attention, DO NOT let them rush you through signing even if they are closing soon!! When we tried to get to the bottom of the issue we found out that all of the employees who helped us have been laid off, the management was completely unhelpful and rude.
I was interested in the Costco Auto buying program, after entering my info in the Costco site, this dealer was one of the choices. I was interested in a 4runner and I am writing this negative review because the addendum sticker next the to the window sticker rose the sticker price about $7-8K. Listing items like nitrogen filled tires for $399? The air we breathe has nitrogen in it and the best was dealer mark up, about $6500 without any itemization. The salesman mentioned that he could get me a great deal for $7k off from the $48K in the addendum sticker, do the math and the price is $2k above the sticker, this is what passes for a deal these days. I opted to buy a lightly used 4runner Off Road edition from a different dealer, paid below KBB value, the best thing to evade that addendum sticker.
Horrible customer service. Was told 3 hour wait for service. 5 hours later they send me from one rep to another and say 20-30 minutes or maybe more! Don’t ever waste your time or money on Toyota! They deliberately increase wait times so people then rent a car from them! Disgusting ways to make money off your customers!Bottom line : don’t buy a car you can’t service!
If you want to meet a honest, transparent, Positive individual you have to ask for William Dennison. He has made the car buying experience for me my family and any friends I have recommended truthfully unforgettable. He will treat you like family and go above and beyond every time. My finance manager Chris was great. He made me laugh and feel comfortable. He helped me understand everything I was signing and disclosed it all. Valerie the finance director is not only beautiful but helped me get the best rate and helped me save even more money. She made the process very smooth. Two thumbs up for this dealership and there employees
Great dealership. Sales and representatives and the financial guy are on top of their game. Set up the whole transaction over the phone and through text within 3 hours. They waited for my father and myself to arrive after they were closed to complete the sale since we had driven about 1 1/2 hours.Couldnt have had a better experience buying a vehicle, was out within 25 minutes. Keep up the great work guys!
Great service, friendly people very clean.
Drove all the way here found the exact rav 4 from online but it had on different rims and no roof rack. Literally false advertising.
I’m On my 3rd Toyota from Mossy on Mission bay drive!! I have to tell you I have only experienced the best.. from the very start of each car with the sales team being professional and excellent to the close of the sale.. parts and accessories team knows their stuff.. to the best in service with my same advisor throughout my 3 cars experience.. Richard Carver is the most incredible service guy.. Richard is very knowledgeable and with his calmness can ease any worries if your trouble shooting anything .. I’ve had noMajor breaks with any my cars.. the goal is to maintain your service with oil changes and tire rotations ..
I highly recommend dealing with internet salesman, Jake Thomas and finance rep, Percy Settle. Both were was so kind, helpful and informative in helping me with the purchase of my new Rav4.
This dealership was top notch! Jose went above and beyond to make sure I purchased the truck I was most comfortable with. He gave me suggestions and his advice, but was in no way pushy what-so-ever. After I decided on a truck the process was absolutely painless. So quick and professional. I felt like family by the end of the whole process! I would recommend Jose Ponce to anyone who is looking for a new or used vehicle.
Walking into Mossy Toyota I wasnt sure what I was looking for yet. I was greeted by a man with a great attitude and a willingness to answer any and all of my questions, Terrence Kay. He was informative and professional. He showed me a series of cars that he thought I would be interested without being too pushy which can be hard to come by at dealerships. Though I didnt walk out with a car, I left with a couple options in mind thanks to a great salesman. Once I decide what I wan,t Im coming back to see Terrence knowing that he will take care of my needs with confidence and professionalism. Thank you for the help!!!
Emailed me consistently for 2 days (6 emails) to come in and look at an affordable truck with low miles. Set up an appointment with James reassuring me they have the truck. 8 hours later magically the truck was sent to wholesale. They just wanted me on the lot for an upsell... I was born at night, but not last night. 🙄
First time at this Toyota service center and everyone I encountered portrayed positive energy - they’re genuinely happy people and not just fake happy for high customer service ratings. Kevin H. was my service rep and was awesome. I had a “different” reasoning for taking in my Tacoma, but he listened and understood what I was looking to do. I don’t write reviews often, but I would 100% recommend Mossy Toyota in PB.
My husband and I highly enjoyed working with Derek to find our perfect family car. From the moment I spoke to him on the phone and throughout the whole sales process he was very professional, answered all my questions and put my families needs first. He broke down the old car salesman stereotype within the first 2 minutes of our first phone call which I appreciated. I could tell by talking to him that he was an honest straight shooter (as so am I) so I put my trust in Derek to help us through the sales process. After we test dove our Mini Van he helped walk my husband and I through our financing options to help secure the vehicle we loved that day. It was a win for all. I am so thankful he took the time to work with us and help meet our needs. I highly recommend Derek to all my friends and family when looking for their next car. I give Derek a 5 Star review. Hands down. We love our new car and feel great about our overall experience at Mossy Toyota. We Cannot Thank Derek enough!
And you never brought my car here I found another dealership that had better pricing but I always brought it here for my service. They did a good job servicing my vehicle for the last 10 years. When youre shopping for a new car you always shop price. And I would do the same thing where I get the best price I would purchase my car but unless I got really bad service from them Id keep on bringing my car back to them for my service.
Got a good truck for a good price. However, I also traded in a leased vehicle from another dealership. One month later and the payment for it still hasn’t processed apparently and the finance department doesn’t answer the phone or return voicemails so I can’t receive any information on the status of the payment to the old dealer. I have called everyday for two weeks and have heard nothing from them.
Did a car rental here and it was Quick, Easy and painless experience, very great service. I had left my wallet in the rental car and they are mailing it to me. Thank you guys for such amazing professionalism and service. Highly recommend!
Alan was the best salesman Ive ever worked with. He was extremely personable and different give me the run around. Hes was straight forward and gave me a great price. I couldnt have asked for better service. Highly recommended!!
I had an issue with my financing terms and the Mossy team did a great job at getting back to me and explaining the miscommunication.
Just purchased a vehicle with Tom - he gave me a great deal! No runaround! Excelente experience! Tyrone was very helpful with showing me the features of the car. I did ran into a small hiccup at financing part but Gina and Randy were immediately on it and issue was resolved- very impressed with their immediate response and professionalism!. I highly recommend Mossy Toyota!!! Will definitely be back again.
Last week, I bought a Toyota Camry 2009 and I wanted to replace all four tires. So I called Mossy Toyota. It turns out that this is a very wise decision. Renee and Karen answered my phone and they told me everything I need to know. Two days later, we visited Mossy Toyota, and we met Alfonso. It seems that everyone there loves him. And soon I found out why. He is very nice and very professional. After several minutes search, he found a $129.96 discount tire set for us! Then he introduced a delicious cookie to us. Even before I finished my cookie, Darrel and his shuttle bus is ready to drive us home. Alfonso is just like an old friend. He arranged everything for you. Visiting Mossy Toyota is just like visiting a close friend. And the best part is that when we drive our car home the next day, it feels like a brand new car!
I was mostly browsing, as Ive been on and off contemplating getting a new car. Terrence Kay approached me and was very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to without being too aggressive to get me to buy on the spot. Had a great experience! Will definitely ask for Terrence when I go back. Great way to represent Mossy!
I was looking to buy a new car, I was debating between brands. I also visited several Toyota dealers. Upon arriving at Mossy Toyota I knew I found the dealer where I wanted to purchase my new car, from the moment my husband and I arrived they go above and beyond with their customer service. Also they have a great variety of autos available. Make sure to ask for Cory, he will get you the best deal possible. I would recommend them to anyone in search of a good deal on a vehicle.
I had a really great experience. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and overall made the experience easy and comfortable. Piero, my new service manager, (being I will be coming back instead of the other dealership) was very attentive and discussed with me before and after what they will be fixing and had fixed. The time of completion with my car was fast which is always appreciated. Kudos!
The worst experience with a dealership. The service departments is terrible. The advisor was rude since i started to talk to him and I had to ask him for stuff that they should have offered like vouchers and discounts. On top of everything they charge 3% extra if you pay with credit card. I wont come back!! Take your business somewhere else.
I bought a new Highlander at Mossy Toyota in June and couldnt have been happier with my experience there! Patrick was my main contact. He was honest, straight forward and down-to-earth. He came to me with the best price and worked hard to find the exact car that I wanted (which was a difficult task seeing as though the one I wanted is VERY rare right now.) He kept in close communication with me throughout the entire process of finding the right car. Upon going there last night, I was ready for a fight, as this always seems like the hard part of buying a car. But, I was wrong! We quickly completed the paperwork with no hassles or pressure. I then was taken upstairs to meet with a finance manager (I forgot his name). Again, I was ready for a fight at this point, but again, there was NO PRESSURE (for warranties, extras, etc...), NO HASSLES AND NO MISUNDERSTANDINGS. The price we had agreed by phone was spelled out clearly and was exactly as it should have been. After the deal was done, Patrick walked me to my car and spent time helping me get set up and said that I could call him at any time with questions about the car, and I believe that he would actually be happy to take a middle-of-the-night call with any questions. This was such a simple and easy process, as it should be, but so rarely is at most dealers.
Very knowledgeable and helpful especially Alan! their on the sales staff, no pressure, you can just browse and check out prices and vehicles without feeling hounded,. He was able to help me compare and contrast different vehicles and features to help me find exactly what I was looking for, couldnt of asked for a better experience! I would recommend mossy Toyota to anyone is trying to find that perfect fit. After all its Toyota, which is synonymous for reliability and quality. Its awesome that they have a sales staff that complements the experience with professionalism, quality and attention to detail! Without the rhetoric of the typical car shopping environment.
The service at mossy was probably the best time I have ever had buying a car. There staff was very knowledgeable, and made me feel comfortable. They let there product sell itself. Anybody looking to buy a Toyota would be completely satisfied at Mossy. Five Stars! Thanks Daniel Ellis
I called to speak with service regarding a warranty issue on a car I bought from Mossy. I was told I would receive a call back from someone in service. They did not call back that day nor the next working day so I called them that afternoon. They again promised a call back, it took awhile, but the person who finally called back was helpful.
