I will definitely return, and I suggest it to everyone. The breakfast here was great, and the employees were very friendly. The pastries and coffee were delicious in the middle of the morning, and the staff worked very hard and could do more for customers.

Delicious coffee. Made by baristas who know what theyre doing, tasty whether you get a cappuccino or a cold brew. My favorite local roaster in San Diego. Was buying only Heart roasters beans for the last few years (bougie, I know...), but Heartwork is my new go-to. They also have cute merch, and the shop has a nice sense of community.Neighborhood tip: on Saturday mornings, there are tacos by Chicano Soul Food parked on the sidewalk out front. Amazing tacos - tortillas made to order, vegan, meat and egg options.

In my town, I finally found a coffee shop. Nice, full-flavored, and solid, and not as costly as some of the others Ive tried before. They all have fantastic coffee and friendly service. The atmosphere is so good and the link to the internet is easy. This coffee shop I would highly recommend to anyone who loves coffee.

Tried it for the first time while visiting.The pastry’s were on point! However, the coffee wasn’t as enjoyable. My latte had no foam and or balance in flavor. We’re just gunna stop at the cheese danish and ham and cheese croissant next time.

The care that goes into their product is something you dont find every day. They feature a rotating selection of coffee from niche roasters such as Onyx, based out of Arkansas.There is always a nice selection of treats to go with your drink, all made locally, so theyre always fresh. There are vegan options here as well, with multiple dairy-alternatives for your beverage (my favorite is the Oat milk! Seriously, try it!)Sam, Ben, Crystal, Riley, Jen and the whole crew are always friendly and fun to chat with. If you know anything about the SoCal music scene or youre into hardcore/punk/metal, you may even run into some familiar faces here...10/10 I plan on supporting and visiting Heartwork, any and every chance I get.

Small space but very cute, friendly, nice, chic ambiance. Saw three outlets. All near one seat. No parking structure. Street parking with 2 hour limitations unless otherwise stated. $1:25 per hour for street parking at 4pm. Free wifi. :) Id come again but parking is just something to be aware of.

Great coffee, great service, cool interior (style and temperature). Personal preference dictates that I dont necessarily enjoy punk playing on audio, but it could be worse. Definitely a relaxing place to set up shop or stop in for a caffeine hit in the early mornings and late afternoons. Highly recommended.

Nice third wave coffee shop with good beans (Dark Horse) and staff that knows how to make coffee.Edit: As Ive come here more and more, this place has become my favorite coffee shop. They consistently make the best pour over. Their pour over menu changes pretty frequently to beans that they personally enjoy. And their lattes? Out of this world. The almond latte I had was perfect. Ive never had one so good. And they are so consistent. I cannot say enough about this. You can get some pretty great drinks from places like bird rock, but they just arent as consistent.

Every single time Ive had a cup at heartwork coffee bar the coffee has been absolutely wonderful. Today I splurged and even had a scone and it was absolutely delicious. Wonderful people. Great music going on. A true neighborhood gem.

These kinds of cliche hipster brew houses are taking the world by storm but honestly Im nearly always blown away with how good the coffee is! Heartwork is no exception! Hot autumn day in San Diego and all I wanted was a good cold brew! I was served by staff that clearly enjoyed themselves! The coffee was great and the atmosphere was nice, chilled and if course hipster which Im not hating at all! Over all a great place! Worth skipping over the nearby Starbucks for Sure!

Honestly not the best coffee Ive had and the staff was a bit pretentious. I would still choose it over Starbucks any day, but not a great place to simply hang out. If you choose to hang out there, though, Id recommend sitting outside. Ordered an Americano and it was done quickly but the staff didnt seem to understand or care much about my order. Didnt take long, though. Main point is that there was an air of please leave and the place was quite small so we ended up leaving quickly even though I had to use the restroom.

The espresso was alright and the store is beautiful- but we did not feel welcomed at all. its unfortunately one of those places that you walk into and people make you feel out of place (at least in our experience there). we wont be going again. but all of the smiths references scattered around were cute.p.s., if you dont want people sitting in a particular place or spot, how about you post up a sign saying as much instead of making your customers feel alienated af (: ♡

We live in Seattle but often come to San Diego to visit family in Mission Hills. Heartwork has become our go-to coffee spot, and not just because its very walkable and near lots of other fun cafes and shops.We like Heartwork first and foremost because the beans they use are delicious and because the baristas consistently know how to pull a good shot. The place is always clean and- bonus for us- there is always something yummy and vegan in the bake case. Last time we went we bought a couple pounds of coffee and they gave us our drinks on the house. Awesome.It also has a sweet ambiance. Simple and relaxing. You can sit outside on the sidewalk or inside at the window or one of the tables. Its a straightfoward spot that doesnt pretend to be anything other than a coffee bar serving really excellent coffee, and for that, we will keep coming back.

I came here on a weekend afternoon. It is a hip, cool coffee shop that had a food cart next door and I was excited for a local coffee shop experience. I went to order (no line) and had a couple of questions on their coffee specials as I had never been in there before. The barista was quite rude in his replies and definitely didnt make my wife or I feel welcome. The other barista who actually prepared our coffees was much kinder when she gave us our coffees. The coffee was okay I tried the Colombian special and wasnt blown away. Will probably not come back here.

I just returned with two Cappuccinos to go. Unfortunately I didnt open them in the shop before I left (for my one minute ride home) because I would have returned them. Yesterday I had a five star Cappuccino. Today, I had a two star Cappuccino, thus the 3 star rating. Its a shame this place is inconsistent among its baristas. I will now not go back.Both yesterday and today, I ordered wet Cappuccinos with almond milk. What I got yesterday was a beautifully, perfectly done wet Cappuccino. Wet should mean the same to all the baristas. Wet does not mean a Latte with no foam whatsoever.
