Great coffee drinks and PHENOMENAL baked goods. The croissants are possibly the best I’ve had. We split a spinach croissant and a chocolate croissant - delicious. The regular brewed coffee is great as well. All around fantastic coffee shop with plenty of space to meet friends or stay and work a while.
Twiggs is a neighborhood gem. I LOVE their blueberry bagel (from big city bagels) with cream cheese and their latte is wonderful. My husband always enjoys his biscuit breakfast sandwich, which comes with bacon, sausage, or just cheese, and can also be served on a bagel or croissant. They have a large assortment of pastries and quiche, both of which I haven’t yet tried. The Italian sodas are unique and delicious, though a little sweet because they have flavoring syrup. The staff here is super nice and helpful, always with a smile behind their masks!
Cool, cozy neighborhood coffee shop. A lot of spaces inside and outside. In the heart of University Heights. Drinks are priced reasonably.
Great service and great coffee. Comfy/homey coffee shop vibe, they have pastries and breakfast sandwiches.
The Baked Goods are off the Hook 👍👍 Many Fine looking Patrons Going to make this my regular Sunday hang out. Where you can satisfy your coffee and food cravings while observing the Eye Candies. 👍👍👍
Place is really nice and quaint but Customer Service is even better!!
Good vibe. Classic decor with wooden furniture. Classic music. Good for study/work. Nice windows / views to street. Not the most friendly staff (at least with my single time experience). Power outlets too few. Only tried ice tea, good. Would return and check out again and try more items. Few outdoor seats.
This is a 2021 review of Twiggs. I’m really happy to say that my favorite coffee shop is starting to come back. Customers are allowed inside, masks off when seated. They are very good about distancing, all workers are masked and the food is protected and sanitary.Pros:• Great selection of coffee, teas + shakes• Lots of pastries and cakes as well• They also have sandwiches• Friendly service• Very clean• 2 Bathrooms• Plenty of charging ports• Cozy and romantic interior• Great place to study• Near a lot of gear restaurants and bars
They brought back the couch. Yeah! Good coffee pleaßant atmosphere a bit 0ricey for what you get. Terrible spinach quiche
Great little cafe at university hills. Good friendly staff. Amazing coffee. Love their espresso drinks. My favorite is the happy camper on a grumpy winter morning. The happy camper comes in a 10oz cup but is packed with 3 espresso plus chocolate and cream. Very reasonably priced and Amazingly delicious!
Soft vibes, good times.
My friends and I have gotten coffee and a snack here multiple times. The coffee was good but the service has been subpar, at best, every time. I always feel like I’m annoying the staff when I walk in, so I won’t be going back.
Love twiggs! My favorite coffee shop in university heights!
Coffee is outstanding. Visited in the morning and the staff was awesome.
Great food and even greater customer service!!
Love the breakfast sandwiches, not a huge fan pf the bakery items
All locations are great. Lots of variety and fresh items.
We have been coming through the pandemic and up til currently and the coffee and chai are on point. We recently were able to go inside and order and finally check out the interior. Their pastries and desserts looked so good but have been waiting to try their carrot cake til next visit. Try this place out if youre in the area or a local. Amazing friendly staff that works here and helpful. No indoor seating currently.
Very friendly staff. Half price day old pastries - bargain!
A great teahouse and caffee, with a chill and cozy vibe to it
Love this place! They have delicious pastry and making really good coffe! Plus they have a really friendly baristas 😊
Great cozy neighborhood coffee shop. Great selection of carbs to go along with your drink. Egg plates too. Expect lots of people and their good dogs hanging out in the mornings. Definitely a staple of the neighborhood.
This is a great place to meet friends and share a house made tasty treat. There is ample seating. The coffee is locally roasted. I love it here!
Great service and great coffee great place to people watch also
Best biscuits in town.
Lovely little shop with a nice selection of coffee drinks. You can definitely feel the community vibe come together as one, which is always a plus. Prices range in the two dollar sign.
Great staff, and THE STICKY BUNS. Oh my god so good.It can get really busy, so hot food can take awhile, but their biscuit breakfast sandwich is worth it!Cozy, local and typically quiet. Patio tables great for people, and pooch, watching!
We went for Stand Up Comedy Night and had a blast. It was very crowded and there was standing room only but the crowd and staff seemed pretty laid back and welcoming, despite the fact that I brought the only children present to the show (I was told it was family friendly lol). However they LOVED the show and didnt want to leave. The chocolate chip cookies were delicious and the coffee was decent. The only drawback to this location was the fact that parking was very difficult to find, but on the plus side...it was also free. Overall nice time and we plan on going back soon.
Cozy environment. They have a nice selection of baked goods and wonderful choices of coffee. The coffee smell can be slightly irritating though. If you need a place to study with a group this is a great place to do so. enough tables for group setting.
Great place. Super comfortable place to hang out. The coffee is good, plentiful and reasonably priced.
I really appreciate that this place stays open late. Sometimes you need coffee, or tea, or a huge slice of carrot cake at 10pm and this place delivered. The cake was very well done and truly hit the spot. I will be back to try more.
Twiggs was at one time my office when I lived near by. It is a very nice laid back place to get coffee and work. There are quite a few regulars here too. On a nice day, you can sit by an open window or outside and watch people go by. There are lots of other places nearby, so if you get hungry, there is no shortage of places to go. Or get a small something they have at Twiggs.
Much better than that SBs place.
Everyone there is always nice and the espressos I get always get my motor running. Friendly vibe overall and Ive never experienced anybody there being snooty or too cool for you.
I lived above here. Loved the area so much. Great drinks, NA meetings are held in the other room and live music. Outdoor seating too
First time here and boy the service people there were rude as hell and I am not quite sure why.Didnt need to scoff at me when I asked a question about something Ive never seen.Nice vibe, seems like a great place to study and chill.Pretty good pastries but that service needs work.
Always great. Superb staff that deal well with the occaisional rough customer. Myself included. Sadly no more live music, but there are AA meetings in their meeting space regularly.Lots of students and professionals here. Great food too.
Great customer service! Good prices. Best biscuits you can get, and the Hazelnut bluster the bomb
I wanted so much for Twiggs to be my new neighborhood coffee spot so I can walk and get coffee in the mornings, but unfortunately the regular drip coffee was so watery/weak that I was super turned off and dont know if I will be going back. Very adorable vibe inside but if a coffeehouse cant make a fantastic regular ole cup of joe, its a no-go for me.
Cozy and cool vibe. Good coffee thats not too expensive. We enjoyed the music and poetry in the next room Sundays at 4pm. Cute ostrich Twiggs tshirt for sale, too!
Been going here since it opened. Used to be friendlier, now customers are mostly a crowd of individuals tuned out on their devices. Staff is really nice though, and they have very good coffee and passable to very good baked goods.
These guys are great..killer coffee..great service..always open..even rent their side room for worthwile causes..
Great bakery
What a fun, and unique vibe! This coffee shop has a great atmosphere and the food is also excellent. Had a turkey panini and then a sticky bun. Yum!
Great coffee place. Very chill vibe. I had the cat of the leash with a triple shot, Mexican chocolate and caramel. Very much enjoyed. A unique range of hot drinks. Give it a try.
A great spot to grab some awesome coffee. Ample seating both inside and out. This is a great place to meet friends or to focus on work. The atmosphere is always vibrant here and Im always productive when Im here. Try the vanilla iced coffee, its delicious!
One of the best coffee shops that Ive ever been to. Ive gotten the Cafe Latte with caramel (Half sweet) both times. Awesome place to drink coffee, read a book and relax. Baristas really know what they are doing. Fast service too.
Service was great, coffee and food is yummy. Passion cake is delish! Casual and inviting, great place to catch up with friends or just hang out by yourself.
Gr8 cozy, friendly, cost effective spot to fellowship or study with a group or as a single!
Fun staff and great coffee. Their cold brew is really good if you like bold flavor. Plenty of variety of delicious baked goods.
Omg I had some sort of chocolate chip caramel cookie bar that was amazing
Good basic coffee house. Baked good are great. Staff is even nicer. A bit worn but really seems to serve the local community.
Always friendly and welcoming
Great coffee. I got a Carmel ice blended beverage here and hung out for awhile in the shop. The staff was nice and the shop has a vintage feel to it.
THE Coffee shop of coffee shops. An eccentric atmosphere with a welcoming ambiance that is expressed in their products and heartwarming service. Heavily populated by locals and make me want to be one.
Super friendly staff. All the baked goods are from their bakery and amazing
Another good local coffee place. Several types of drip available at any time, as well as the selection of espresso-based drinks. A changing variety of pasteries. Nice, cozy seating. Outdoor seating is available, but used by smokers.
Great spot with a pleasant atmosphere. While I love Lestats, its usually packed with people from all over San Diego who go there to study and become even more stressed. Where as Twiggs is where the locals go to relax. Which also makes for a much calmer environment to study.
I have been coming here for over 12 years. Its a great spot to get work done and people watch. The food is great and staff is always friendly.
Love, love, love this place. Staff are super friendly and they make great espresso. Must stop if you are near.
Very friendly and wonderful pastries
Awesome coffee, lovely setting. More than you can ask for
I love this coffee shop! Baristas are super friendly and drinks are great. Outdoor and indoor seating available. Numbers outlets for work or studying. Great local crowd!
Love Twiggs. Food is excellent and the ladies are really sweet!!!
I would give Twiggs and the staff an easy 4 or 5 stars, but the owner I encountered recently is barely deserving of 1 star.My friends and I study at Twiggs all the time. The staff are nice and very helpful, especially Anthony. It can get busy and crowded during the school year, but it seems like there are a lot of regulars, who visit often. Its a great place to get a cup of coffee or tea and work for awhile--there are outlets that are accessible to almost every seat in the place. There are limited food options, but most of what is available is good, particularly the quiche, cakes, and cookies. The only poor experience that I have ever had was with the apparent owner the last time I was in to study with a friend. We visit often and always purchase coffee, tea, and snacks. This time, I didnt want coffee or tea, but I did purchase a quiche and my friend was trying to finish a beverage from another establishment and was snacking on some nuts she had brought it due to the lack of vegan options. We were there for hours before he found it necessary to inform her that outside beverages are not allowed in. She told him that she understood and threw it away. That didnt stop him from scoping out our table every time he walked by and shaking his head and huffing and puffing as he walked away. He approached us again because of her empty package from the nuts, which again, she apologized for and told him that she understood. Again, he continued to eye up our table every time he walked through the cafe area.Another friend joined us shortly thereafter and set her things down at our table, while considering the menu with us. He made a point to loudly let the baristas know that she had not yet purchased anything, as if implying that they needed to make sure she bought something or they needed to make sure she left. My friend went up to the counter to purchase her beverage of choice, just as she had planned to do when she arrived. It was very uncomfortable. All of us understand the business needs of an establishment like this and that is why we always make sure to purchase something when we come in. Its unfortunate that he was here on the day that one out of the three of us did not purchase something and made the mistake of bringing a couple of other items into the cafe. Maybe he was having a bad day or was particularly stressed, but regardless, he demonstrated that he is clearly unfamiliar with his core clientele and the concept of assuming best intentions of others.Overall, I really appreciate this place and the staff. I enjoy the vibe, the food, and the people who work here. With that being said, knowing that some of my money is going to this rude owner makes me second guess my decision to spend my time and money here.
Sweeet baby Jesus! They serve REAL Islamic chia here. Comedy club right next door... Very relaxed atmosphere :)
I love the big round wood table. I dig the subtle decor and big windows. The coffee is good. the service serves. The treats are tasty. This is a nice place. I came here to let my eyes devour a journal once, I ran through the whole thing. I was with a friend who made me laugh so hard at one point that coffee came bursting out of my mouth, embarrassing! Yet, I didnt feel the glare of judgement around me and that was nice.Wish they were open later.
Comfortable, neighborhood coffee shop. Broken-in, like a favorite recliner (but not duct tape on the arms shabby). Low staff turnover means theyll learn your name (and you, theirs).
Great, quiet little coffee spot with good seating, table games, and a nice menu. A good spot to study or take a date, and very close to a bunch of other good food and shops.
This place is super friendly, very accepting of all, and makes some great coffee! Best caramel latte ive had in a long time! Also has a great meeting space
Good coffee. They also have cakes and stuff really nice.
Awesome baristas that make you feel at home :)
Very popular local coffee shop in the University Heights neighborhood. There is a Saturday night Live comedy show next door.
Best ever, Norma is amazing handling the lineAll by herself. Relating to each customer.
It is a great place to meet
Nice and cozy atmosphere. Loved the food!!! Great customer service!!!
I feel at home with a wide range of customers and not only friendly staff but also patrons.
A neighborhood staple! Delicious and cozy.
This is a new place which has opened close to where I live in Long Beach. I really enjoyed stopping here for coffee, the espresso I have had here was nice. I like the location, the coffee was decent, and the people here were nice. All around it was a good experience
Awesome service and great coffee house! Love the biscuits there!
Fun funky friendly. Grest coffee, pastries and ambiance
Always a great visit here. Delicious drinks.
Really nice and quiet coffee house
Great atmosphere. Good place for quiet chat or a good book. Coffee is top notch.
Great coffee and the employees were super chill.
Like tgis place a lot. Visit often. Great breakfast sandwhiches. Super nice employees and customers. Fair prices. Just a good vibe.
Neighborhood coffeeshop in University Heights. This place is so awesome, part of me doesnt want you to know about it.....but yeah you should go give them your money.
I live across the street from this place. It should be my go-to shop. Let me tell you why it isnt. Its cramped. Theres no flow for customers. Its one way in, one way out, of way to the bathroom, the trash and NO WHERE to stand and wait for your order. And you will be waiting. They dont use a computer system to track orders so if you order anything besides a drink they will probably forget you. Even if you are standing in front of them. This has happened to me twice - the only two visits I attempted to order food. They also apparently cant listen to their customers or read each others handwriting because they are constantly remaking drinks. Oh and those drinks get priority - Ive seen them make seven drinks before heating up a pastry for someone. STAY AWAY! Better yet go to Lestats.
Cakes are excellent. Sitting not very cosy. Great variety of tea to have with your cake.
Cozy neighborhood Coffee Shop. Great bakery goods. Vintage building perfect for study or socializing.
Good cake and good coffee... Cozy restaurant lovely staff. But what I really love about the place are the cakes..really delicious.
