Just bought some merchandise here, and the staff couldnt have been more helpful. I was first helped by Tom (who apparently wasnt even on the clock then) and he answered all my questions. After leaving to do some research, I came back to complete the purchase. Two other gentlemen assisted me and both were great! Im definitely glad I stopped in, even after reading some of these other reviews.

Just throw the whole place away.... Ive never had a more difficult time trying to purchase there merchandise and after taking my money I still have not received my order.... what a rip off 🤦🏾‍♂️

Socal guns is my go to gun store in San diego. Their prices are competitive and have a good selection of quality product. Its not easy to compete price wise with stores that sell only one specific item( like ammo) but they do.

Service is not lost, on the guys behind the counter here. Theyre helpful and easy to talk to. Every other shop ive gone into lately, the dudes behind the counter act like theyre doing me a favor. Pat and the dudes that helped me acted like Id just bought them a beer. Which I may actually do, when I go in for pick up

I just purchased a gun there. The short Australian gentleman gave me a bad attitude as if he was making me a favor. Zero customer service. He acted as if I was annoying him. Such a bad experience while purchasing a gun. Other staff was ok, looked like they were doing their job, but this guy looked like he hated his job. Ill never purchase anything from that store again.

This is one of the best gun stores I have ever visited. They had 9mm ammo when everyone else was sold out. They had Glock 17s when other places had a year long wait. Friendly staff with common sense solutions. Great selection of firearms and ammo. Especially great vintage lever action selection.

You would think for a for a gun shop within a 2 mile radius of 10 different shops they would work on customer service. I asked the short Australian behind the counter a question and he acted as if I he was doing me a favor and could not have been ruder. You would assume he knew what he was talking about and sadly he did not seem to understand CA gun laws as one his co workers had to correct him.Do not waste your time here, you can find a lot more stores in the area with 10 times the customer service.

I called this store asking if I need the new Real ID to buy ammo. The person on the phone was very rude and gave me false information.Not only did he not answer my question he also said I could only buy ammo for a gun registered to me. That is absolutely wrong. You can buy ammo, after a background check, for any gun type. What a dope! Lost my potential business and I buy a gun once a month.Would give negative star if I could. Shop elsewhere

Called the store and asked if they could do a private party transfer. The person who answered the phone said, Yes, come in before 4pm. Got there at 2pm. Spoke to the man behind the counter and told him about what we needed to do and how we were told to come in before 4pm. Man behind the counter in an extremely rude manner and tone of voice said we needed an appointment. Again I explained we were told to come in before 4pm. In an even ruder tone, he simply said, Appointment .If I could give this place a negative star I would. Will never go there again, and I absolutely DO NOT recommend this place.

I was recommended this shop by a firearms instructor of mine and have had a great experience both times Ive gone. Relaxed atmosphere, knowledgeable staff who were able to make plenty of gear recommendations, and no nonsense. Ill continue to shop here for my firearm needs.

Patrick was very knowledgeable about and friendly. It was very busy in the shop yet he managed to help 2 or 3 customers at a time and gave personal attention to each one.

SoCal guns is a small shop you can get most of your needs at. Right now your bigger shops like Turners Outdoorsman Discount Gun Mart are having trouble keeping their shelves stocked. SoCal guns you can get most of your stuff there with no problem.

This is a great gun store. Large selection and great prices on ammo. Friendly, down to earth customer service, no snobs here. Great consignment guns and prices, the only way to get an off roster handgun and a large selection of new rifles, pistols and revolvers all at fair prices. They also have a shelf in the back with obscure ammunition at great prices and a good amount of tacticool accessories as well. Worth stopping in on a regular basis, youll never know what youll find. I highly recommend.

Bought my first gun here a couple months ago. They are good at asking you if you need help, showing you the merchandise, explaining in short detail the gun itself but some of them lack the ability to hold a proper, respectful business-like conversation with certain customers, meaning myself of course. And Im not getting critical of it too much. The mild condescension is very annoying. Please clean that up. I dont want to visit and feel like Im being treated like a dumb person or a child. Also the sales guy sat outside and watched me leave when I left with the gun. Why!?

Lets just say, be ready when youre coming into the store. They deal with alot of uneducated customers that dont want to learn vs. The uneducated that WANT to learn. If you are looking to buy a gun, do your own research before coming in. Go out and test fire guns at the local ranges. Watch youtube videos. The knowledge is out there. Right now for any gun store the stock is limited so dont become angry or frustrated with the employees when they tell you they are out of something. The staff is smart and has a ton of knowledge to share and they are willing to share it, if you come in humble but prepared. The gun community cares about one another but we also dont put up with stupidity as it can get people hurt or killed. So if you go to Socal guns have some thick skin and be prepared.

Fast and easy experience. Staff are professional and upfront about the process and regulations around firearms purchase and ownership. A few friendly dogs are in the store too as an added bonus. Parking on weekdays is easy but a pain on weekends.

My husband and I have been shopping here for years. I always enjoy coming to the store. There is so much to look at, the entire staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and I always find something to buy. This is the only store of this type that I will shop at.

I left one star only because I cant give less. I went there today to buy some ammo, after 10 min of waiting time outside they let me in, right away representative came over and standing no more than 2ft from me, not wearing face mask or gloves started rushing me with the question What do you want? I answered that i need 9, 5.56 and 7.62 ammo. He replied Dont talk to the floor, talk to me. I said Just give me a minute. trying to see what kind of ammo they have . After that he said he doesnt have time and started rushing me out of the store. Store representatives dont wear the face masks in complete disregard for the safety of the customers, rude and have not any working ethics . Further complain will be filled against the Socal gun.

I’ve had 3 firearms transactions with SoCal. I find them to be friendly, almost always knowledgeable in their recommendations, and their prices reasonable especially in the ammo department. Firearms prices are about on par with the competition. I know CA puts lays the screws to them for having the gall to operate in the first place, so pricing is what it is. I will keep going back, no reason not to as they are convenient for me to frequent on my breaks from work. The service at SoCal is so much better here than Turners down the block, which I honestly find to be useless as well as overpriced.

FRIENDLY ADVICE, AVOID THIS SHOP!!! Every negative comments here are true. Because I was here this afternoon and bought 100 rounds of ammo. I asked the cashier where can I find a 9mil ammo he answered right in your nose then after a walk out the shop and grab some smoothie next door. When I came back to my car coz I parked at their spot. The cashier came out and said next time you will be towed. He didnt know that I am their customer. He apologized after that. This guy doesnt look at your face so he doesnt recognize their client. What a poor customer service.

Went in to shop for a new pistol and to look around. These guys have everything I was looking for and some thing I didnt know I needed. I was greeted by one of the sales staff, they didnt size me up and they didnt give me a hard time about parking. They brought me every gun I asked to see, they were very helpful and answered all my questions. I was treated me like a paying customer. They were very professional with me, shared some tips and gave me info on the range they shoot at. I bought what I needed and left willing to be a repeat customer. Im sold.

Ive bought a few firearms from them and Ive never had any difficulties. There are some older guys there working at times, and they may come off as rude, but they really arent. Theyre nice guys, just a little tough.Anyway, in my first experience there I came to buy a lower receiver for an AR and the guy helping me (older guy, pony tail, glasses, Joe or Joseph) helped me out. He gave me some info and opinions, but he did come off a little abrasive in way of personality. To the point, no talking, etc. Aside from that, transaction went good, no issues, pick up was easy, and done.The second time back, I bought two firearms a new gal named Rachael, and I could tell she was a little new to the store, but she still had good firearm knowledge. Her doing the paperwork and taking information did take longer, but she smiled and apologized and talked to make me and my girlfriend comfortable. She was very fun to work with and brought a little happiness to the overall serious feel you might get from other staff members.Overall Ive had a great experience with SoCalGuns and more than likely Ill be stopping by for future firearms. They have a nice selection and keep a good amount of ammo on hand.

The owner of this store is incredibly rude and unprofessional and is more than ready to yell at you if you park in any of his parking spots at 6:01 p.m., not only after the reserved spots are no longer valid but ALSO after his shop is closed for the day, gates shut and all. If you have any desire to shop somewhere with even a shred of decency, search elsewhere.

I have bought several guns and I always come back to SoCal Gun. They have a pretty decent selection for California (nowhere near as good as anywhere in Arizona). The staff is friendly and they are always happy to order anything they do not have in stock. The ammo is always plentiful and I have yet to find a place that can beat its prices.

I had seen a shotgun on there website that I was interested in buying for my daughter. As soon as I walked through the door I was asked if I had any question or needed anything by Nathan behind the counter. I explained what I was there to see and much to my disappointment it had already been sold at an earlier date. Although I did not leave buying the shotgun I wanted for my daughter. I did buy another one for me. Nate was very helpful and willing to answer any and all question I had. Very pleased with the service and experience I had at socal guns. First time I have shopped here as it is not where I usually go for firearms or ammo but will definitely be back to do more business with them!!

The antique carbine I bought over the internet and phone from them arrived quickly, securely, and was in much better condition than described and what the pictures showed. I mean much better. I love it!

Reading all these reviews then trying to write one for these guys, its a little bit difficult. My experience with the product they had in stock was exemplary. Literally in and out with exactly what I needed. However, I did all the work; I found all the accessories that I needed. They had what I needed because my gun is a very common one. Their stock is small; ammo is only on one pallet, all other accessories on one single sad wall. To their defense, they have very little space to begin with. That location should have been a salon. So take it with a grain of salt, you might find what youre looking for if what youre looking for is common. For scopes, lasers, high dollar items, look elsewhere where they have a better return policy. Maybe turners outdoorsman, which happens to be just down the street.

Went in with questions about ARs and the new California regulations. Got my questions answered and received friendly advice on the subject from one of the employees. The place has the small hometown gun store vibe to it, liked it a lot.

Good selection, bad service. Some staff have a bad attitude toward you. You literally need to call them over if you want service, even if theyre free. Last thing, not kid friendly. If you want service, dont bring your kid. Bringing a kid in their mind is an automatic straw sale and theyll try to avoid you and give you the hint that they dont want you in there.

Ive never written a negative review so this will be my first. This was my second trip to the shop. My first experience wasnt so pleasant. The employee, whom Im assuming is the owner which was behind the counter towards the front of the store was hesitant to help me after I asked where they had their magazines. After I told him which handgun magazine I was looking for he then slowly showed me where they had their handgun magazines behind the counter. I ended up purchasing the magazine which was over priced compared to other local stores like Turners, San Diego Gun Range & Discount Gun Mart.My second trip was just 3 days ago and I parked in their reserved spots and some guy who had just walked out of the store and to his car which was also parked in the reserved spots was eyeing me to see where I was going. I was heading towards the front door so he continued with his business in his car. I thought nothing more than he was just checking that I wasnt breaking their parking rules, which makes sense. While in the store I walked in and was just browsing the ammo and stuff on the wall. I made it to the rear of the store where they had 3 employees back there and not one acknowledged me. I continued to walk towards the front of the store and in walks the owner or manager (Im assuming). Tall guy, prob around late 30s to mid 40s. He asked me if he could help me for what I was looking for. I asked if they had magazines for 5.56. At that point this dude looked me up and down real slow then looked at my t-shirt to read what it said.... nothing offensive whatsoever, it was a name brand logo... then again...slowly turns around and says over here. Which again was towards the front of the store. This dude was rude in the first place for doing what he did and Im am 150% sure he knows he did it with ill intent. That is all Im going to say about this place and will never go back and after reading some other reviews that were left for this place, doesnt surprise me at all.Beware to anyone else in the future that visits this establishment. Use caution.

This place is one of the best place to get guns. They have a huge selection of guns and friendly service. Always friendly and answers any question i might have. I have bought several of my firearms from there.They have good selection on new and used guns but only reason why they do not get 5 stars is because they jacked up the price on ammo. During the recent months, many places have reduced their ammo prices close to where they were before the whole mass shooting but so cal guns still have high prices on ammo and magazines.So if they didnt take advantage of this ammo crisis which should have died down by now, they would get 5 stars. And also it would be alittle better if they stocked up on more parts and accessories.

Very poor customer service! I had purchased several firearms as well as done some private transfers with Socal Gun over the years when there were some decent staff working there. Nowadays most people working there are just simply rude, especially the managers or owners. These people do not even greet you and act like you are going to beg or steel something from them. On one occasion, sometime last year, I witnessed one guy parked his car in front of their store but did not go in the store and walked quickly to the nearby shop. The manager or owner, white guy about close to middle age with beard and mustache, ran out cursing all the profanity and went to the guys car and let loose the air from the guys car tires and called a towing truck. I understand that the other guy wasnt supposed to park there because the sign posted for the parking spot is clearly shown for Socal Gun customer only, but watching how this SocalGun staff/manager/owner behaved like that towards other people just blew my mind! My other direct experience with this staff/manager was when I was checking out a firearm that I really liked, and I told him that the price is a little high and the other store in the same area is $50 cheaper. He told me, go buy it over there, and I did and have never gone back to Socal Gun ever since. There were several other occasions when this uncivilized and rude staff and the other staff were being rude to other customers that witnessed but the comments would be too long here. I rated the worst gun shop in San Diego. I do not recommend this place! Please go to Turners, Discount Gun Mart, The Gun Range of San Diego, PWG, even GlockStore, and any other places where their staff and folks who work in these shops are nice, courteous, friendly, professional, and appreciative of your business! Please stay away from Socal Gun!

I tried to get a FFL transfer on an exotic out of state Colt receiver from a different gun store and after getting the run around from them being in hesitation if it was allowed in California I got tired of the circusand came to SoCal Guns.Staff at SoCal guns are very proficient, updated on newest laws and know what theyre doing without having to look stuff up, ask each other and still not know answers.This crew knows what theyre doing and know the state laws on top of their head.They determined without hesitation that the receiver was state legal, drosed it and got the job done in 15 minutes.Receiver showed up, paperwork got done, 10 day wait went by and the part was dispatched to its new proud owner.Very smooth transaction, great service and I will always do business with them as I value professionalism of this level highly.

Parked in their parking spot without realizing, and lo and behold the rude owner walked out immediately to ask if I knew how to read a sign. Very rude and can’t imagine anyone supporting this establishment, just based on his lack of courtesy.

I bought my first handgun there, at first I had ordered a handgun from a different store but due to some mixup, the gun never shipped. After looking around socal guns was the only shop that had it in stock. Price was ok, $50 more than the other store. The guy that helped me do my dros was ok, he was a bit on the rude side but over all very mediocre. When I went to pick up my gun was when I was the most disappointed. The person that helped me was very rude. IMHO, I was very polite to him, I handed him my paperwork and whatnot in a polite manner. However, when he was done, he just threw everything at me. Furthermore, in the middle of all my paperwork, he would leave to help other people. Which in the end took longer than what he was doing for me. In the end, had I not been on a tight schedule for break, I would not have gone to socal guns. They were just lucky they had the gun in stock when my preferred stores didnt. I will definitely never go there or buy anything from them again. I would definitely advise people to go to other gun stores if they have the gun in stock. If youre going to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, better off giving it to someone that actually wants it.

Terrible gun store, walked in and got no help from employee in the back playing with some dog, while the other employee was helping someone else. After being ignored for 10 minutes I walked out and into the vape shop next door. I came out back to my car to find a note on paper with packing tape all over my window from the gun store (presumably from the guy playing with the dog) saying I better not Park in their parking spot or I will be towed next time. Being that I just left the gun store, I put the paper and all the tape back on their store window, with a note saying I was in there store and got ignored. The dog playing employee came out yelling at me without reading the note and basically threatening to kick my ass for parking in his reserved spots out front. The other employee who was helping someone else out had to hold the crazy employee back and explain to him I just left.Just went to the glock store down the street on Murphy Canyon, bought a glock, and got tons of freebies and even free lessons in their training range. Save yourself the time and go to the glock store.
