Without a doubt they are the best ice creams I have ever tasted! Its worth the wait and line time, the ice cream have a lot of flavor. The service is very good, they are very affectionate. My only recommendation, divide the ice cream because it can be very cloying, one scoop per person is perfect! I LOVED

Not too bad of a place. came here after someone recommended it to my husband. he LOVED the pear and blue cheese ice cream. i thought the cowboy coffee grinds and bourbon ice cream was really good. driving by we thought there was a long line, but after parking and standing in line it went fairly quick. the only downside is there’s not that many flavors to choose from, and if you’re picky like me with flavors it was hard to chose from the few that i thought i’d actually enjoy. other than that it’s not too bad of a place to have every so often.

Salt & Straw is a chain of handmade ice cream places that does a great job at all locations. Although prices for ice cream are a bit high, you get a really good portion size and quality/taste is on point. The staff is always super nice and helpful in choosing, and their homemade waffle cones are something you should get anything. This location gets VERY busy at night so be prepared to wait a little bit. Also parking here is tough to do, so be ready to walk through Little Italy a bit (never a bad thing).

Been going here for about two years. Absolutely love the honey lavender and how unique the monthly ice cream flavors are (Jack o Lantern Pumpkin Bread was to die for!). However, customer service just keeps getting worse here each time. The ice cream can be as amazing and possible, but without proper customer service, it is just not worth it. Please train your employees on how to be more respectful!

The ice cream is so delicious, and the staff was so polite and nice. Jordan one of the staff members in particular was over the top nice and really made me realize that Customer Service was so important to this place.

Ice cream was great. We had the honey lavender which was good because it wasn’t too sweet and the salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough which was a twist on the classic cookie dough. Make sure you get it on a waffle cone. Also the staff was nice and very fast.

Amazing ice cream! It can be pretty packed on Saturdays with the farmers market nearby; street parking was also a bit hard to find.Theres often a bit of a line here. The inside of the store is mostly for the line, with a small window table with stools, but there are a good number of tables outside. The lady scooping the ice cream radiated warmth - she seemed so enthusiastic and happy to serve us! All the employees were wearing masks.You can get a double ($7.50) with 2 or 4 flavors, or a single ($5.50) with 1 or 2 flavors. My family and I shared a double with a couple of the seasonable berry flavors (birthday cake and berry slab pie), and they were both packed with flavor and creaminess! I love how S&S locations have such creative local flavors. So much ice cream...

I tried one half of the the coffee and half scoop of the strawberry trees leches both were delicious the Coffee was my favorite. My kids tried the chocolate fudge and they were on love. A bit pricey but its in the heart of Little Italy so it makes sense.

What a what a fantastic little ice cream shop in the little Italy area of San Diego. You’ll find some very unique flavors and combinations but by far my favorite is the double fold vanilla which has extra vanilla beans to make it exquisitely vanilla.

Love their ice cream, but they need to manage their traffic better. Hopefully that changes, so we can have a better experience waiting! Thanks for the great taste :)

Not good. I got the Chocolate Gooey Brownie Scoop which I’m nearly 100% confident is repackaged Edy’s Double Fudge Brownie. Nothing special at all, again taste exactly like the Edy’s you’d buy a gallon in the supermarket for the same price. Also, they didn’t include spoons with the delivery, which was very problematic staying at a hotel.

Great flavor and texture on the pumpkin bread ice cream. However, the double fold vanilla was absent of flavor. Almost as if they forgot an ingredient. Like Vanilla.

First time visitor to this establishment and to the chain. You know that saying about first impressions? Well they sure know how to make a perfect one. There ice cream is sssssooooo good and their waffle comes are perfect, no over cooked and crunchy to the end. When we visited there was a line, seemed pretty normal alongside with a small wait time nothing that wasnt unexpected, the employee proceeded to comp our 2 cones due to the wait which I didnt feel was long. I think she might have felt bad for us due to the screaming child directly behind us. Definitely a must try.

I absolutely love this ice cream. Their more traditional flavors are great, but please try some of their inventive flavors as well! We go a pear and blue cheese, honey lavender, and an olive oil ice cream; all three were absolutely delicious. The staff is also exceptionally helpful.

Delicious and conveniently located right in Little Italy. Walk around the corner and open late (till 11) if youre staying at Urban Boutique Hotel like we were earlier in our trip. Highly recommended.

Excellent service, everyone working there was extremely nice and they got you through quickly while being able to make personalized suggestions for you at the same time. Their savory flavors have more of a salty flavoring than your average ice cream, but if you like that, it is very good. Prices are reasonable as well.

We loved this ice cream!I tried one of the berry flavors, “birthday cake and blackberries.”It was so good my family stopped eating theirs, and started eating mine. It was so flavorful!The customer service was great, and the lady who was working outside was very informative about the ice cream choices. She even told us about a new location in our home state.We may stop here again before we leave San Diego ;)

First of all I would like to thank Natalie for being so patient and understanding as I hemmed and hawed over the choices to put in my flight. Thats right you can get a flight of ice cream. The problem of course becomes one of indecision. With more options to pick out it almost becomes harder to make the right call. Nevertheless I went with 4 delicious options: 1) salted caramel cupcake 2)sea salt with caramel ribbons 3)salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough 4) cold brew coffee cashew praline.If you have a sweet tooth and are in little Italy this is definitely a place you should walk into. my only complaint about it was the wait, I didnt wait for it on my visit but I walked by it the day before and the line was out the door and wrapped around the corner. if you are ok with waiting in that line be my guest but Ill walk on in when the line is a little smaller.

We stopped by to grab a pint (they aren’t currently selling scoops) and were happy with the various vegan flavors they offered. We decided to grab a holiday flavor and really enjoyed it. A fairly unique flavor profile with not too many ingredients.We will definitely will come back to try more flavors!

We loved the hospitality of the staff and the small spoon sized samples. Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed the lavender infused ice cream at the same time. Highly recommend to everyone!

Visiting different ice cream shops is something I love to do with my family. This was my second Salt & Straw experience. After a few different samples, I decided on the James Coffee & Bourbon. The flavor intensity and texture was perfect. My daughter enjoyed her Salted, Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.This shop is located in Little Italy and was quite busy for a cool and rainy November evening. The employee that served us was polite and friendly. Hopefully Ill get back to S&S before I have to leave San Diego.

Only 1 out of five times have I had good ice cream. Ingredients are not high quality enough for what they charge. Just has the maple bacon and it is disgustingly sweet and overpowered by maple. No bacony, salty or smoky flavor. Waste of money!

We really enjoyed the ice cream. I had the gooey Brownie and the salted malted cookie dough. The cookie dough was incredible. The Brownie was just a really solid chocolate ice cream in my opinion. The folded marshmallow was not impressionable but I wouldve loved to see more of that.My husband wanted the salted caramel ribbon but they were sold out so we got the vanilla and they scraped the bottom of the barrel to get some caramel to throw on top. The caramel was unbelievable good. And the vanilla was also outstanding. We cant wait to go back.

I LOVE this ice cream shop! There are so many flavors to choose from not to mention theyre all unique in their own way. I think it is every month there are new flavors to choose from. The store itself is modern, yet has a positive vibe to it. The employees were very nice and outgoing as well. Though, be prepared that there may be a little line to get in as this shop is not only popular, but also follows CDC guidelines in making sure social distance measures are in place as well as masks.

First time customer, pretty excited about it after all the recommendations but ice cream didn’t quite meet the hype. Service was friendly and fast but it was really loud with music crossed with masked voices the order I received was wrong. I went there specifically for the flavor and I got something completely different and didn’t realize until I was already too far to turn around. Disappointing but 4 star for unique flavors and good service.

Salt & Straw was amazing !! The line was outside of the building but it moved quite fast && they have a very organized system. There were tons of crazy flavors to pick from but also some normal flavors. The ice cream was phenomenal! Would definitely go back here when I’m in San Diego. They had a great little seating area right across the street with chairs and tables. Love the environment && the ice cream shop.

Probably the best ice cream Ive ever had. Creative flavors, delicious, not too sweet, and excellent consistency. Tasted a few and settled on the vegan coconut milk and cashew panda brittle. I still cant believe that its vegan. The texture was smooth and the flavors worked well together, and a nice crunch from the brittle.Moreover, service was excellent. Even though the place was packed, the line moved smoothly. The staff were very friendly and patient with giving everyone as many samples and as much time as they needed to decide.

Easily the best ice cream around. There is a core menu with traditional ice cream flavors, but there is a second part to the menu the rotates new and interesting flavors. Either menu you pick from your gonna get a great quality ice cream.

I had never even heard of Salt & Straw when my friends brought me here, but Im so glad they did! It was Thursday night and the line was out the door. From what I hear, it can get MUCH longer. Id say I waited about 20 minutes. Once we got to the counter I realized the flavors were very unique combinations, so dont expect to walk out with a simple cone of chocolate ice cream. I will say the employees were very friendly and helpful! Being able to sample any flavor with metal spoons is a nice touch. I eventually settled on a scoop of Roasted Peach & Sage Cornbread Stuffing on top of a scoop of James Coffee & Bourbon in a waffle cone. It was incredible! The price is not too bad when compared to other craft ice cream locations. Salt & Straw is worth a detour!

Great ice cream. Very interesting flavors that were, for the most part, well developed. Had special Thanksgiving features which were amazing. The sweet potato/bacon, peaches/cornbread, and goat cheese/pumpkin were fantastic. Also got a chocolate cookies and cream. Line was long but moved quickly. And they gave lots of samples. Atmosphere was nice. Will definitely be going back again.

I loved the ice cream that I got- Chocolate Gooey Brownie. I wish that they would have more of some regular flavors like plain chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, etc. And defo something peanut buttery. We had to wait in a not that long line for the ice cream, and the woman at the front door was very helpful and informative and kind. I expected them to have actual gelato and at least some regular flavors. All around good service, but not quite what its talked up to be or what I was expecting.

I got their boysenberry oatmilk sherbert and chocolate fudgy brownie and both were amazing- not to mention the wonderful smell of waffle cones throughout the entire shop. Staff was friendly too. I lived in Italy and in the states and have a sweet tooth to satisfy and its for ice cream/gelato. I crave it on a weekly basis and have tried all types and have tasted top quality ice cream from the East coast and through Europe. The line at salt and straw did indeed drew me in to this spot and the flavors posted on the chalk board were interesting. My curiosity to taste certain flavors had created a child like excitement in my blood. The intriguing combination of peanut butter with pork fat or the bone marrow with smoked cherries was a fascinating idea and I was excited to taste those flavors for a new experience in food combinations. I had to sample them all and this spot lets you indeed try them all without being frowned down upon for holding up the line. I needed to find what I liked best before I ordered and the ice cream clerk never rushed me. The waffle is a must with whatever flavors you decide to choose. This spot has made my experience in San Diego already worth while and if I ever come back here, salt and straw is on my top five spot to hit. Enjoy!

Salt and straw is a great place to have some ice cream, the only set back is that there is a super long line. On the pros side they let you try all the flavors you’d like. Overall its a very good place👍

Outstanding ice creams with a range of interesting flavors. There was a line, but it moved just quickly enough for us to read the menu and narrow down to a couple of choices. I went with the Peanut Butter Porter and James Coffee Bourbon. The flavors were perfect! They have so many choices that you just wont find anywhere else. The staff were friendly and helpful, and their house-made waffle cones are delicious!

For those in between, its interesting. I settled on duck something Ice cream. It was interesting having random bits of fried duck skin in my ice cream but not unpalatable. I went with that one because the other flavors were too weird for me to get into. Call me a plain guy, but this gourmet ice cream place was too highfalutin for me. But if youre an ice cream affecionada youll probably love it here!But nice long lines when I got there showed many felt differently. Our maybe this was their first time too!

This is a MUST STOP if your in Little Italy. By far the best ice cream I have ever had!! With the home made waffle cones fresh off the grill you cant go wrong. If your with family and friends or if its date night its a great place to either start the day or end the night. Very friendly staff!! I recommend this place for all to visit!!

I got the cinnatastic (highly recommend!!!) and gooey brownie. Both were top notch and I only wish we had this where I live!! ❤️ 10/10 would go back.

Amazing ice cream! And even though the line was long they had a fantastic system that made everything go very quickly and smooth. So many unusual and fun flavors. The vegan ice cream was incredible—my hubby ordered it not knowing it was vegan and I wouldn’t have guessed it was dairy free if I hadn’t seen it on the menu! The ice cream is really good, with flavor combinations that youd never expect. Their menu changes monthly, so if you see something intriguing, dont expect to see it next time you come in. The line outside looks really long, but even on a busy Saturday night at 9PM it only took about 15 minutes.

Personally I feel most ice cream places have the same flavours but this place has alternative flavours. The guys were very friendly and were happy to offer us free samples, I had the chilli mango which was nice at first but then very salty. It was slightly pricey but worth paying extra for different flavours.

Amazing ice cream that is kinda worth the wait. I wish staff was more attentive and worked faster to get the line thru. We waited over 35 minutes for ice cream. My suggestion is have a staff member go down the line and let the customers that know what they want order & pay. I feel that would be most efficient.

The seasonal flavors change every month, so if theres one you like, make sure you get it as often as you can.Tip, you can order a split scoop of the regular or kid size scoop and get half and half of two flavors.We try to go every month to try the seasonal ones. Theres enough variety so that different people will find different favorites. The classics also offer a good variety of flavors and favorites. Waiting in line is worth it for trying all the flavors, but if you want to avoid the line, you can come at off hours if youre lucky to be available (mid days usually have plenty of parking and no lines), or grab a pint without waiting in line.We love the ice cream and think the wait is worth it.

Ordered via Uber Eats, paid more then any ice cream is worth and they did not have the only flavor I wanted. At over 50 dollars for 3 pints this is a huge rip off...go to the grocery store and get 10 half gallons instead.....glad to be leaving the liberal left coast soon.

Visited for the first time, and it was okay. Not bad icecream. I expected more from such a highly recommended place. I had the brownie icecream. Which was good but in all honesty Id prefer a pint of $5 Ben and Jerrys to a $12 pint here. It was a $25 trip in total with 3 kids and 2 adults. No one was super impressed, but it was good enough for a night out and a fun time in Little Italy.
