My friend and I were in town for a fundraising dinner and had no reservations ahead of time; we simply showed up, and after John and a lovely lady finished tending to the other customers, they helped get us measured and fitted with haste as the time was drawing near for the dinner.They have a huge selection of tuxedos and suits, and John has a knack for style. He will ask you what you like and tell it to you straight. I rented three tuxes for my groomsmen and John steered me in the right direction regarding style, colors and accessories. Even more impressive, he altered and refreshed my 30 year old tuxedo so it looked as good as new for the bargain price of $60, which was basically his cost. He could have charged me double and made money without me skipping a beat. 5 stars is not enough!

Recently I had a black tie wedding that I needed a tux and within 24 hours he got me fitted and had me on my way. Extremely pleased with the wonderful and attentive service of this business! Lets be honest - being in SoCal, were pretty informal in this flip-flop culture and there are few occasions to have to get super dressed up, hence why Ive outgrown all of my old suits. My partner and I had a last minute wedding wed forgotten that wed committed to this past weekend, and after browsing around to see my options I couldnt justify spending thousands on a suit when I rarely need it - this is where this fantastic rental service comes into play. The warm, charismatic owner and his assistant were able to tell my size just by glancing at me, and offered lots of great perspective on fitting, color-schemes, etc., but most importantly they were FAST! Fast at taking measurements, fast at getting something to us in just a couple of days, all at a great price. My partner and I also had a misunderstanding about who dropped off the suits causing us to be embarrassingly delayed in our return, and the owner instead showed us understanding. Ill definitely be returning to this business in the future as they have a *massive* variety of colors, textures, etc., and because they were such a delight to work with! John and his staff were amazing! If you’re looking for any style of tux, this is the place to go! John was able to find my idea tux fairly quick. At first it was a challenge getting me fitted for my tux because of my athletic build, I’m a former athlete, 6’4 250LBS. But John and his staff took on that challenge with ease and they got me fitted to exactly how I wanted it. I was very pleased with the finished product and I highly recommend this tuxedo place, it’s the best in San Diego!
My first wedding but from what I can see I totally made the right choice! GTC far exceeded any expectations I had! My tux was custom tailored for me even tho I only rented! My coat fit just right and even the handkerchief was of better quality then the ones my groomsman got at Mens Wharehouse! They even worked with me on multiple schedule changes and having to drop it off acouple days later due to out of area wedding! Highly recommend!!!
Great selection of suits. John was very professional and was able to get me fitted and out the door quickly for my grandmothers funeral. I was able to buy a jacket, pants, undershirt and tie all for around $300 which is very reasonable. Thanks again John!
I was having a hard time finding a nice well-fitted tux for my wedding. I almost spent 2 hours looking for a tux at another place with no luck. Luckily, l decided to go to this place. Here John and Vanessa were very efficient and effective in finding me a very nice suit. The day I picked up my tux, I had lost some weight, however, this was no issue for them, they still were able to get me a a suit that fitted me perfectly. They even were very understanding and were ok with me returning the suit a day later giving that I was traveling from a place that is two hours away. I would definitely recommend this place.

These guys are the absolute best in SD. We shopped around a few places, and found these guys based on their really high reviews on Google. And the reviews are not by bots or lies, these guys are as good as the reviews say.When we first came in they immediately tended to our every needs, they helped us find very specific color / color-scheme we wanted for our wedding (summer colors that matched with the bridesmaids’ dresses). And other places made this process of finding the right colors more difficult, while John eased our anxieties and helped us from the very beginning. He took a lot of time to go through our options with the utmost professionalism and patience. My fiancé (at the time) and I LOVED working with him. We were a bit late on ordering suits, too and again he made you feel like he’s done and seen it all and anything you threw at him didn’t phase him one bit.They also helped us order and arrange a same color-schemed suit for a groomsman that lived out of town and again, the fit was perfect and absolutely no hiccups in this process.Above all the ease of logistics, ease of ordering, and options this shop has, their customer service was the absolute best.Look out for Vanessa (John’s “right-hand man”, lol), too. She complimented John’s social skills and mastery and professionalism perfect. They make a perfect team; where one person deals with one end, the other has the other specifics handled. They go out of their way to ensure you and your party members are feeling good and assured (they called me personally a few times to check in with me - I mean, really, who does that in this day and age anymore?).Any concerns I have I just called and they pick up immediately (no automated machines or BS to deal with). They just have a classy, old-fashioned approach with customer service that is a severely lost art in this day and age. And also the prices are killer and more than fair. I was married last weekend, and for all of my groomsman it was a destination wedding, meaning they could not try on anything before they arrived. Let me just say John and staff handled everything beyond expectations. The whole staff was available throughout the whole process and went beyond to make sure that everyone was happy.We went to a few places before stepping into the The Gentlemens Tux Club, and my bride and I just knew instantly after meeting John, this was the choice, and we werent dissapointed. As mentioned due to it being a destination wedding, it was not easy, but everything was handled through email and you would of never been able to tell people did not try them on before hand. I absolutely loved this fine and charming establishment for men’s formal attire. The staff who helped me, Vanessa and John (I believe that was his name), were truly the most amiable and helpful staff I have ever experienced at a tux shop. They heard my price range and with that they really took the time to assist me in finding a tux that both fit well and comfortably in relation to how I like to wear my clothing in general. They even offered to hem my pant legs for an unusually affordable price! It was great! It may appear to be a small storefront but if you get a glimpse behind the curtain, you’ll soon realize that the selection is actually abundant. I 100% see myself returning in the future for all of my formal attire needs and highly recommend this business to anyone looking for men’s formal wear.
Would totally recommend renting from here. We had gone through three different places similar to these but they kept shoving us off due to prom fittings. We came here and they took care of us. Although we had chose what we were going to wear, we came back with the Boss (his fiance) and she finalized our selection.

I found the Gentlemens Tux Club after looking for a last minute wedding suit in San Diego. The groomsmen and I showed up to check out what they have. We were greeted by a two lovely ladies, Vanessa and I forget the other girls name but she was nice as well. They showed us a great selection of wedding tuxedos and suits. We found exactly what we needed and they also gave us a good deal on the suits. The day of the wedding we got so many compliments on our suits. This is the best place to rent a suit or tuxedo in San Diego!

The team at Gentlemen’s Tux Club was amazing! Definitely the place to go in San Diego for buying a tuxedo. They were the only place that had what I was looking for, and they outdid themselves on customer service. I wanted to buy a black, peak lapel tux and a low-cut vest, both which were impossible to find anywhere else. They worked with me on pricing and sizing, and were extremely supportive of my schedule. It was about a 3 month process (which could have been faster, but I wasn’t in any rush), and I visited the shop about 4 times. I had been in previously to verify that they carried what I was looking for. The tailoring was great (and priced way better than I expected), and they were even able to get my shirt tailored (purchased online). I can’t thank them enough, and my bride was amazed when she saw me in the tux as she came down the aisle.

The Gentlemens Tux Club offered the most amazing service and had my tux fitted and ready in less than an hour. They catered to everything I needed and went out of there way to make sure everything fit perfectly. I had a wedding to go to on Saturday and went in to the Gentlemens Tux Club on Friday at about 2:00pm for the first time. I was in and out of out of there with the exact tux I wanted within one hour and I didnt even have an appointment. I was amazed they fit me the day before the wedding in less than an hour. I was able to take the tux with me when I left there Friday for the wedding on Saturday and I was able to return it right before they closed on Sunday. Honestly the best tux experience Ive ever had and Im almost 37 so Ive rented mangy tuxes. I would not take this much time out of my day to write a review if they werent the best because I hardly ever write reviews.

I have been going to John for a decade and a half. He is not only the very definition of a gentleman but his service is unrivaled. 13 years ago I could not tie my own bowtie and was unable to make it to the store before closing. Jon had an event to go to with his wife so he drove to my house 2 miles away simply to tie my white bowtie so I could wear it with Full Evening Dress. When you go to the Gentlemans Tux Club John goes way above hospitality and traditional quality service and treats you like a Turkish Sultan is the 17th century. I reccomend Jon and his establishment to everyone.

The staff is very professional, they have a selection thats perfect for any occasion. The tux with tails I chose was impeccable. I would definitely recommend them and I will be using them in the future
