The premier store. The satsuma tangerines were candy sweet. well I hope so at 299 a pound and I think the honey tangerines were $3.99 a pound but I know that she always buys the very finest possible fruits and vegetables as well as everything else. Like cup of soup and Ramin in a bag. Where else could you find 50 different varieties shes got them. Incredible seafood, incredible store. This is a one of a kind store. If you want Asian delicacies and staples at mostly fair prices This is the place to go. You wont find another store like it. This is a big store with the finest produce probably in all of the Bay area. Karen the owner she dont mess around!
We could find anything we want in this store, I would say this store is complete. But the prices are more expensive compare to the other stores. However, not sure if they handle all the meat correctly, it has a smell. Also, they sell expired stuff on purpose for a very cheap price, even they know the stuff is expired. Just be aware.
One of the best Asian grocery stores in SF. Unlike other Asian focus stores, this one attempts to serve diverse Asian communities. Excellent place to find stuffs from Indonesia and Myanmar, in addition to Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Japanese ingredients. Price could be a bit higher than its nearby competitors, but you get the convenience, more choices, and better quality produce, meat, and fish.
NO Social distancing!! Proceed at your own risk. The store was just packed this week with absolutely no Covid safeguards.😫In the first Shut down last Spring, they were doing the right thing and limiting how many people could enter. No longer!!Weve been coming here for 20 yrs and really love this place, but come on, we are in the middle of a pandemic. Dont you care about your customers?
Pricey but fresh lobster! Delicious.
Good store, but.... No friendly, no polite. Not good feelings after shopping here.
Good if you need Asian goods. Not the cleanest for veggies or fish, I wouldnt buy those items here.
You can grab any of your want as long as you pay for all of those tho. A highly authentic product and good service. The staff was indeed friendly and accommodating. The entire place was so neat and cleaned. This shop is my one-stop-shop from now on.
I like the big range of selection of goods here. I can get most of the items I need here, to cook regular Asian dishes. This shop has been my go-to shop for Asian grocery shopping. Here comes the down side: the perishables in this shop might not be the most reliable. Ive seen mold in food packages in several occasions. Id recommend double checking the product as well as the expiration date.
Clean, well organized, attentive character and the organic side too well
This place is where you can find all the exotic sauces that Ranch99 does not carry. Aisles are crowded so expect to avoid others. Dont expect too much when it comes to customer service.
Before the CORVID pandemic, we would shop here regularly. Really like their selection of Asian snacks, and the variety of household items. However, seeing how they are now, we decided not to shop here again. There is no customer flow control in the market. People arent required to wear a facial covering. When we were there, there were about 10 people swamped at the vegetable section, each only about 1 foot away.Among the markups of many items, the beef price was really shocking. More then $40 for 2.5 pounds of beef flat? That is ridiculous!!
My favorite Asian market. Has everything you need at extremely reasonable prices. Huge variety of meat/seafood. All the Asian snacks, fresh noodles, sauces and spices you could want
All the things you want and need are all their, product from other countries are all set. A highly authentic product and good service. The staff was indeed friendly and accommodating. The entire place was so neat and cleaned. This shop is my one-stop-shop from now on.
Great market with tons of things. Wide range of produce, great place for sauces and kitchen staples.
I love visiting your grocery shop again and again! Your staff was very responsive if ever I have any concerns. I could see that the people who work there were very friendly and helpful. I also observed that the place was very clean and organized. A wonderful grocery shop will highly be recommended! Until next time!
Very well stocked with snacks, drinks, candy, etc. Fairly clean for a Chinese supermarket.
This Asian market has been very good about crowd control. I feel safe to shop there, they are a little pricey compared to some of the other stores near there, but u can can get everything in one stop. They are great!
Great choices of Chinese snacks.
Complete lines of groceries, good employees.
Great inventory of goods. I only come here once in a while..4 stars instead of 5 because the last time I went the cashier was having a bit too lengthy chat session with the person behind me.
Has alot of great snacks and cool items. Always very crowded with rude staff
This market has the most variety of foods out of any of the markets on Clement. Unfortunately that means its very popular, so often youll have to wait to get in and lines to check out are long. But they have items that other stores dont carry! Produce can be more or less than other markets. They seem a little more sanitary than others.
Big market where you can find almost anything you need for many different Asian cuisine. The prices are fair, maybe a tad more than if you were to go to a smaller market down the street. I find the staff very helpful when I need help finding something but the cashiers are less friendly.
They got all the chinese goods you need, but the shelves are dirty
One of my favorite go to- Asian ingredients esp. when making my homemade pho! They even have Lucio pasta (from italy) too! ❤️❤️❤️
Huge selection of Asian delicacies
Avoid this market. So many items are expired. Some expired two years ago.
Well stocked, variety of Asian produce, dry goods, catering to all people.
Rude AF. Inventory and prices are typical of the area and store category. But the staff has zero customer service. Be ready to be treated like your an inconvenience.
Nice place to shop with a relatively good selection of food, but the area with the fish and meat kinds gives a smell, and is crowded.
This place has many interesting goods. I was looking for bean curd. They had at least 50 different ones. Some tofu, some curd with varying chilli levels, some sweet, whole bean fermented, etc. Noodles: there might be more varieties. The ginger they use with sushi: white and pink. Mock meats. Fish. Soy sauce. Prices: quite decent. Inner Richmond has some amazing stores, and this is one of them.
If I lived nearby it would be a good place for produce staples. You can smell the fish from outside the market, which I dont take as a good sign, however. Soup making should be fine.
I always find anything I need here and they are cheaper compared to most of regular supermarkets!! Can be a long line but youd have to know when to go! Go there around 1.30 - 2 pm or early like 8.30 - 9am (check the time during this pandemic as they may not be open this early). Highly recommended for some Asian groceries you may not find at the regular supermarkets.
Great produce, prices and service.
Wonderful Asain Grocery store. Best meat and fresh fish. I highly recommend it.
They have huge variety of asian seasoning, asian products etc. The staff also friendly, he trying to help me despite the lack of english and mandarin on my end.
This IS the Place, if you need Green Tea Kit Kats OR WHAT you believe you need in Asian food. COME OVER HERE!!
It was a new experience. All the fresh cut meats, poultry and other items I could not recognize. The staff were friendly. Surprising with all the meats in open air, it smelled cleaned.
Especially easy for when I need fruits and veggies for dinner, there are always a few butchers and tons of fresh fish too.
Great selection of instant Ramen noodles.
Theyve got everything to cook Asian: produce, meat, seafood (live fish too), seasonings, noodles (fresh & dried), rice, canned goods, tofu, snacks galore, liquor, beverages, and they accept credit card.
The go-to grocery store in SF for Asian ingredients, produce, and animal bits
Very good variety but they dont always take out expired/moldy items but otherwise very good store with items you cant normally find
Its usually crowded and narrow but so good. You get to find all of the delicacies of your childhood. Fish, meat is fresh; large array of veggies like lotus roots, daikon, asian veggies for stir fry. I go there as often as I can to load on nori, rice, rice Crackers especially. I was super happy to find an equivalent of the aromatic herb shiso to go with my homemade makizushi!!
They are handy for products they sell and the location they have. Pricier than most Asian grocery stores.
Its stinky, its crowded, its a Chinese market, but I HAVE to give it five stars for the amazing selection and low low prices.
A nice Asian grocery store with all the essential ingredients 6ou can look for
We can find everything we need there and also very fresh my friends !
Mostly chinese products. I only speak English, but it was still very easy to navigate and make a purchase.
Good choices of Asian spices & condiments like Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese. Lots of fresh veggies, fruits, even has meats, seafood & poultry
This place is just an astounding Temple of Asian Products that I feel worshipful about every time I enter. If you go for one reason alone it might be for the wide variety of teas. But why go for just one reason? Youll also find every kind of sauce imaginable, packaged noodles (fresh and dry), a dizzying variety of fruits and vegetables, and everything else from alcohol to dishes to things you may possibly have never seen before -- and might not see again. Sometimes I walk in here determined just to look to find new things and then notice Ive got a shopping basket full of stuff. Thats how good it is, and all in a totally unpretentious no-frills atmosphere.
The right place if you want good quality at a cheap price
This store had a lot of rude employees. it hard to say that their boss treat them nice or not. I purchased red shallot onion 50/50 rodents. mochi ice cream been refreeze many time that it tastes like papers. nasty nasty disappointment.
Fantastic, easier to find parking, com po ared to the old Chinatown.
Old fashion Chinese market and grocery store. Great place to get all the stuff you need. Not the cleanest looking place but I dont expect much.
If you look for Asians ingredients you can find it here, theyre quite complete. The vegetables area, the isle is too narrow so you keep bumping with other people, so you feel rushing to choose what you want to buy.
Nice selection but tricky pricing on produce. For instance a bag of tangerines that sell for $2.99 a bag at Trader Joes will sell for $2.50 A POUND here. So you think you are saving but you are paying lots more. Plus quality of produce is inconsistent. Lately I have been going down the street at 5th and Clement where prices are clearer and quality is about the same. You really have to be alert with pricing here. To me that is a BIG turnoff.
Great availability of Asian groceries of all nationalities!
Cool local Asian supermarket with a wide selection of package foods, fruits and vegetables, seafood, meats and more. Cheap prices too. Can get busy at times, especially on weekends. Service is relatively quick but youll be hard pressed to get a smile.Id personally steer clear of their meat section as weve had issues in the past but everything else is good value and worth a visit.
Why go all the way to Chinatown when New May Wah has everything you could ever want. From exotic fruits and vegetables to herbs this place has it all. There is wild fish caught that morning and the meat butcher block cuts fresh selections every day seven days a week. With good prices and quality New May Wah is a valuable asset to Clement Street. Only peeve is the employees are not the friendliest and seem testy at times. Nevertheless the above good qualities outweigh that one liability. Good prices on apples recently.
Couldnt find the chinese hot mustard. The help were so rude and were angry because I couldnt find it. Ill never go back.
This is a very no-frills supermarket with a lot of Asian grocery goods, produce, and meat counter. A lot of fresh seafood and theyll clean fish at the counter. Know what youre buying and get out.
Love go get my groceries here, good selection of fish and meat
Kinda busy but it was a Saturday afternoon noon so it was fine. Helpful staff
Higher prices but fresh food, good sales, reward system, local employment for teens so thats nice.
This is one of the larger Asian market in San Francisco and their product selection is pretty decent. The one thing I find very off putting is almost all of the cashiers are very rude. They can ring up your transaction, take your money all without saying a single word to you. To top everything off, I have to bag my own groceries most of the time.
Good
Best Asian grocery store in San Francisco. This place has it all. Or so says my Taiwanese fiance.
If you are looking for a place where you have almost everything asian, this is the place. Whether you need ingredients to cook from Thai to Indian and burmese.I like going here to get those hard to find Asian ingredients. Let me tell you that its almost always busy, you have to know what youre getting, most employees dont speak English. They also have all sorts of seafood and meats. I would try this place, instead of going into the hustle and bustle of Chinatown.
Simply everything I need in an Asian grocer.
Good variety of Asian groceries
Excellsny choices.and wide vatiety for your asian food.needs.
Nice large selection and generally good prices.
They have every delicious edible Asian item ever created!! All countries and cuisines are well represented here. Love how one side is all fresh items like produce and fish, and other side in non perishable. Oh and BTW Ive brought many of my suburban pals here just to see the fish dept. It is extremely entertaining for people who havent traveled or dont have anything like this in their grocery store. Fish, crabs, lobsters all swimming in tanks. Move down the aisle on the right to see the many choices in fresh shellfish. All still alive in streaming water. Totally great prices!!
They were actually closed
Good prices and quality. Allways ckeck fruits quality at this place.
Richmond NMW packs a lot of product into a small-ish space. Ive never gone in here looking for an Asian food product that they ended up not having. I come here regularly.
Huge variety of food and ingredients. Annoyingly narrow isles. Best Offal offerings Ive ever seen. Huge variety of seafood but what I bought was rotten. I bought razor clams and they were fully open 1/2 hour later when I got home. I bought Blood Cockles and they didnt open at ALL when cooked. I bought an Abalone and when I got it into the car (5 minutes later), it stunk so badly! Washed it at home and realized it was completely rotten. So I threw out all of the seafood I bought. The prepackaged Shiitake mushrooms had a sour chemical smell. Prepackaged veggies not a good idea. Disappointing, as I thought I had found my new heaven!
All kinds of great Asian products. Usually busy
Asian market that has variety of fresh meats, seafood, produce, and snacks for Chinese, Japanese, Thai food. You may be able to get hard to find ingredients for your special Asian dishes.
The checkout / line is terrible. I remember when they had cashiers at every register -- some of whom memorize the prices of the groceries and were fast workers... Faster than Safeway cashiers! Now seems like they cut back on hires and subsequently service suffers.
Chefs come here to buy their products, where the products are from around the world
Fruits and vegetables looked great. Market is big. I wont comment on the prices because we are not from the area.
Lots of first world problems in the complaining reviews, but this place is great. Fantastic variety of produce and fresh fish. Super cheap too-- if Whole Foods is Whole Paycheck, New May Wah is Whole check that you got from Grandma on your seventh birthday. Go ahead and cash that thing now and get yourself some groceries!
This is a great time of day to go to May Wah, there were no lines to get in.
Great selection of Asians produce
A train wreck. Not clean, organized, and the staff are exceedingly unhelpful with helping finding things. On the upside they do have specialty things that its hard to find anywhere else with such a good price, but you have to be willing to sacrifice your personal space and dignity
I love shopping here. The fresh fish cant be beat!
Get most of my Chinese seasonings such as soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce. Also, fresh veggies and poultry.
Good collection
Find almost any asian ingredient here & wide variety of fresh seafood and meats
Great selection of fresh and canned foods. Decent liquor aisle and they have some pharmacy items too. One stop shopping in Inner Richmond and they take credit cards!
So heres the thing. Being Chinese, I take my black rice vinegar seriously. There is this one brand of black vinegar that comes in a bottle with a yellow label and a sticker for some award from 1985. Ive searched all over the city and South Bay, and this is the only grocery store that sells it. So I come here once every few months and stock up, always with the fear that theyll discontinue it at some point. Fingers crossed. Oh, and they also have decent moon cakes during mid autumn.
