This place offers delicious chocolate made in America. As such it does lean slightly towards the sweeter side. Whats nice about this place is that they have a lounge area for you to enjoy your chocolate and drinks while people watching the busy streets of SF.

This is a visually very nice chocolate store with many varieties of chocolate. Their truffles are visually appealing but also a pretty hefty price. Their hot chocolate beverages are delicious, and you should definitely ask for marshmallows on them. However the staff wasnt very friendly (except one of them, which she was very nice and helpful) and seemed in a rush to close the shop which subtracted from the experience.

I thought they opened at 10am (11am), so off to Sees I went and knowing how expensive these chocolates are at Christophers I had no real intentions of coming back when they did open. Well I found myself walking right by it on my way back to work and said wth I will look. Right off the bat the young lady at the counter was friendly and welcoming. More so than any candy shop Ive visted in the bay area. I went to another place close by and when I asked about a sample they looked at me like I was an alien and said no. I fully expected the same answer at this upscale chocolate confectionery, so much for my expectations. Not only one sample but almost as many as I wound up buying. I felt no rush in my selection and when it was all said and done I bought two - four piece boxes at $10 each and walked out feeling good about it, in part because the candy is that darned good and mainly the warm customer service I recieved.

What a lovely little find in the Hayes Valley. I had walked by here before but never thought to drop in untill I ended up after dinner before the symphony on evening. It was cold outside and I wanted a coffee and instead saw the menu display showing the sipping chocolate with was intriguing.Went in and was instantly amazed by the high patisserie nature of all the chocolate selections. The designs and the flavors were really quite exquisite. Its worth a drop in just for that.I really wanted to see if they would hold a candle to some of the best hot chocolate Ive ever had and I had a feeling they might match it especially with all the varieties they had on the board. I opted for the Spiced Dark Chocolate with Oatley (oat milk) rather than milk which was served in a lovely cup and saucer. The first sip can be described as a velvety, chocolatey bloom inside my mouth and made its way into me instantly warming my belly with a light, spicy finish that knocked my throat beckoning me to go for the next sip. It was exquisite and delicious and something that should just be savored and appreciated without asking too many waisting it thinking to many thoughts.Go have some it is worth the price.

Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum! The truffles are like little (delicious!) pieces of art. The caramels are soft and divine.... not the kind to stick to your teeth. Theres a cushioned bench seating area to enjoy your hot chocolate or chocolates and chat with a friend. It would be nice of they still offered samples. They used to, but seem to have stopped that practice a couple years ago. At $2+/truffle, it would be nice for someone to try something theyre not sure if theyd like.

Without a doubt, the best dark hot chocolate in the world. Other luxury Chocolatiers are no competition to Christopher Elbow’s dark hot chocolate. It is the single item that I get year-round whenever visiting San Francisco.I would however love to see one with less sugar as I could see myself buying and making it at home.

Went here for the pairing event with Moonlight Brewery.Damn.These are the best chocolates ever! I would love to buy out the store. They also have lots of choices for non dark chocolate lovers. LOTS of choices. Everything here is made from all natural ingredients, no preservatives. and you can tell. Also hear the hot chocolate is TO die for.I wanted to try at least HALF of the chocolates (basically all of them that werent mainly dark chocolate, lol). Sadly I couldnt. My one criticism, is that because everything is mostly hand-crafted, they are expensive. Now, dont get me wrong, its worth it. I just dont have the funds to try very many.I would say definitely check it out at least once, if youre a native. Definitely bring your tourist friends and family. And if you ARE a tourist and you visit Hayes Valley and dont stop in here, even if its just to stare at the gorgeous pieces of artwork called chocolate, its a travesty.

Best hot chocolate in SF so far. I had a mix of the 85% and of the dark chocolate with milk and it was really great. Not too sweet and the perfect consistency. My friend added passion fruit puree to it and loved it... I must say that adding that or orange gives it a certain pleasant tanginess. I cannot wait to have another hot chocolate there!

The artisanal chocolates at Christopher Elbow are delicious! They are a bit pricey, at $2 each, and its hard not to try them all. But I got 3 and it was just enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. I ordered the bananas foster, strawberry balsamic, and lemon citrus. Remember that everlasting gobstopper from Willy Wonka that made Violet turn violet? Thats how I felt about the bananas foster. It was like I was eating a bananas foster! The strawberry balsamic had a hint of that tangy flavor, and the lemon citrus had a wonderful aroma.I really like the decor and atmosphere. The cafe is a quiet place were you can take your time tasting the chocolate. My coworker and I may have been a bit rambunctious for the patriots there at the time because we were just too excited.I would love to come back and try one of their drinks.

This review is for the spiced chocolate drink. I was looking for something similar to the spiced chocolate I had in Mexico, and whilst this is not the same, it is similar and surprisingly good. The chocolate is not overpowered by the spices, nor is it too sweet for my Asian/continental European taste. I initially hesitated at the $5 price tag but its the price of a coffee or boba tea and youre really getting more value for money. Well worth every penny. The shop itself is elegantly simple, where you can sit down and sip your chocolate. It reminds me of hotel du Chocolat in Oxford.

Fairytale level candy. Its like stepping into a dream. Perfectly formed, artistically detailed, exquisitely flavored bon bons. Pricey, but oh so worth it. Friendly staff. Performing arts neighborhood. Perfect for pre or post show, with a date or solo. Parking on street or structure. Great walking neighborhood. They have a sitting area where you can take your shipping chocolate and relax while watching the river of traffic flow by. Its great in off peak hours as its quiet and so peaceful. A great tonic to city overload. Bring a novel it the paper. The flavors are wide ranging and change seasonally. They have a free membership card, which is great for accumulating points for free boxes of chocolates. This chocolate is high end and perfect for client gifts, gifts for your own employees, family or friends. Cant say enough good. Its also a fun place to see and meet interesting locals and their fashion.

One day for Pride in The City they had a 1 day special on 6 select blends for 1 dollar, NEVER SAW THAT BEFORE, GOOD to still see them here In Hayes Valley corner shoppe/botique. Pretty seating at night. Tasty delicies!beautiful and colorful pieces as artwork. Coming from Twitter Bldg Market, Nuubia is grande and C.E.C. gives them a run as they moved out last year but still in Pleasanton, poor Or rather xhallenged or other C. Has now moved 3x since Emeryville. Michael is still a fave and another competitor that C.E.Choc stands strong against (Recchuiti-metwith the retired Chuck Williams nm in his Flagship store Union Square) and I worked for Truffle extroadinaire JSConfections on 3rd before closing, so...I know my local chocolatiers! And now the newer Mission run Dandelion is giving CEC a run on competition. Socola just has more runs than C.E.C., but for presentation, C.E.C. wins our hearts. They get 4.5 stars!
